great place well maintained. the dinosaur event is lovely major let down for this place is lack of parking. if u put an event on like this u have to expect it to draw the crowds after pre booking tickets online insure we could get in we still ended up driving around for 40 mins trying to park. should be advertised as no parking. take public transport be far easier. would of given 5 stars but lack of parking and the fact the website doesn't advise to leave the car at home bit of a joke in school holidays with a popular event like this.

Have had lovely days out and really enjoyed Jaz week the last three years, now trying to get through to find out what's on this year (Jaz week ) what time it starts and how much. NO ONE there to answer phone, it goes straight to voice messages, I have tried all six extensions but could not get to speak to anyone who could answer my questions, I will either have to go over to the Botanical Gardens and find someone to ask or leave it altogether, which will be a shame. I am very disappointed with this system.

We've been to quite a few Christmas light shows and the one at Birmingham Botanical Gardens was by far the worst. We travelled 100 miles round trip to get there and even at a snail's pace, this only took 30 minutes to get round. Unimaginative and hugely disappointing

Always good fun for kids.
They have invested in the new playground.
If you are driving make sure to register your plates to avoid a fine.

I use to come here all the time, when I was really little and I would sit on the grass with an ice-cream, watching the music on the bandstand with my parents (good times). A large indoor and outdoor environment. Lots to do for all ages, with a botanics area, with information on different plants from around the world. Plants are also sold here, with a gift shop by the entrance and exit. There's a playground and a conservatory with birds inside (interesting touch). I did work experience in the gift shop two years ago and the manager of the gift shop was lovely and I really enjoyed working there for a week x... School trips were also really fun here and I sang in one of the conservatories with my choir, offering pretty good acoustics. It's larger than you think it is, so walks with your dog and family would be an ideal way to spend an afternoon, baring in mind that you have to pay to get in and the cafe costs an arm and a leg!

Crowded tropical flora displayed in a very warm and humid greenhouse with a delightful koi pond leads onto well kept gardens and an expansive lawn.
Very mature and tall trees adorn well paved grounds with obscure signage pointing the way to various 'exhibits'.
The Japanese Garden was of particular interest but ultimately a disappointment, with caged displays marring the view of some beautiful bonsai.
A small aviary housed some colourful bird species such as the Azure-winged Magpie and Purple Glossy Starling, both stunning.
Inside were some Finch species together in a large cage.
Peacocks roam freely and are not afraid, bold enough even to jump on the tables outside to peck at the leftover baked beans from another visitor's lunch.

The cafe offers a selection of snacks and desserts from super food salads, gammon egg and chips, fruit and cakes.

There are a few play areas and playgrounds for little ones (toddlers).

All in all a lovely place, with absolutely loads of wonderful plants that I haven't even touched on.

Entry reasonably priced too.

Would recommend.

Accidently got stung by the carpark arrangements when travelling up from London for a wedding. Did not realise you had to enter in registration to obtain free parking. When asking the gardens for help to resolve this were simply brushed off. Surely this car park system is to help protect genuine customers of the gardens and avoid people using the carpark to go into the city centre? Would be nice if the gardens would help to look after genuine customers rather than throw us under the bus. Would not be attending again that's for sure.

We had an absolute great time there! When the weather's good you can spend time on the grass or on one of the numerous benches. Three are very nice themed gardens (and ponds!) as well as an aviary. There is a nice tea garden where you can drink and eat. We recommend this very nice place!

Our visit included the afternoon tea which was lovely, with very attentive waiters. The glasshouses contained a large variety of unusual and very well established plant species, every 'pond' had some huge coy carp which adults and children alike enjoyed. The gardens were a delight to wander around, we loved the aviaries and many inquisitive peacocks wandering about. As we were here on Sunday, it was nice to hear the band playing, all in all a very relaxing afternoon, I would thoroughly recommend it to all.

Wasn't bad. There were some lovely plants and trees which we were, of course, expecting, but I didn't read the description before going so I didn't know there were birds there. It was nice seeing them and "talking" to the parrots. Some of the areas were closed off, we had members of our group needing to use the toilet which was also closed, that was inconvenient, and their tea room didn't have much of a variety, usually vegan options, what they did have wasn't the best, however, it's a nice place for mature/plant lovers. The gift shop was okay and they also sell plants. There are some beautiful spots and good to pass some time.

Excellent although its very tempting for children to climb back up the tunnel slide so you need to be an observant parent!
4 stars as confusing car parking. You get a ticket inside the building which gives you free parking. You need to know your car reg!

A lovely botanic gardens with really nice glass houses. There is a lot of variety in both plant life and fauna with a multitude of bird houses and a butterfly house. More fun than many botanical gardens too with more of an emphasis on interesting/colourful plants and less as a place to simply store and catalogue a universities enormous plant collection

Nice for a couple of hours. Good to walk around & fine for wheelchair users. Oasis close to Birmingham city centre. Easily accessed by public transport. Buildings look a little tired. Plenty of benches.Plenty of room for kids to run around with a good if small bespoke play area as well ad the large grasses area. Small cafe for drinks & sandwiches/ cakes
