Visited with the family for the Christmas lights. The displays were excellent and the meandering walks made this a really enjoyable experience. The big concern was the snack bars along route. Hot chocolate sounds like exactly what you More

A tad disappointed that Botanical Gardens only offer Afternoon Tea to Groupon customers with bookings of 20+ people in their party at a time ... It would have been a lovely surprise for my mother's 60th Birthday Never mind Hotel du Vin it is then!

Such a lovely place to walk around with the family and an amazing variety of plants, trees and flowers to look at; especially loved the cacti and succulents near the exit. Sat and had a lovely picnic outside and there are free roaming pea cocks and pea hens and even a baby one! Bit sad the butterfly houses wasn't open due to covid but still a fantastic time had by all!

We went for our cream tea gift yesterday, easy enough to find and parked ok. Walked through hothouse to room for cream tea - lacking in atmosphere but not too bad with nice tables and crockery and views to the hothouse.
Big disappointment was no options on sandwich fillings - I realise this will sound fussy but my husband doesn't eat tuna, egg, soft cheese or mayonnaise - all the fillings we were given!! We maybe expected hard cheese or ham and it meant I had to eat the sandwiches and he had the cakes - it was a gift so didn't say anything but still disappointing.
Gardens nice to walk in, concerned at state of aviaries though lovebirds seem happy enough - more so than parrot and cockatoo next door.

The place is nice but it needs more maintenance as the fountains don t seem very clean and it looks very old and dirty! Also the staff are not very welcoming especially those who work at the cafe, they seem that they don t want to work or take any order, it s very unprofessional the way I got treated by them, just one example, I ordered coffee and one staff told me they will bring it to the table and no one brought anything, and when we asked they said that we should have waited and took it by ourselves!! Every staff tells different information which is very annoying and unprofessional!

I am sorry to say that I was not at all happy with my family's experience here when visiting on Thursday 13th August.
The gardens though were just as good as when last my wife and I visited.
But there were very few staff around especially in the enclosed areas and there were lots of members of the public not wearing masks and no one was telling them to put them on. The signs telling people to wear them were not that obvious either. Indeed I even saw people arriving at the reception inside and not being told to put masks on. The reception staff seemed to be hiding at the back of the office. In the final enclosed area, just before the exit my son and I were trapped by loads of people ALL without masks and we had no way out other than to literally brush past people and nothing was being done about it despite being told about the situation by my daughter in law. In my opinion there weren't enough staff and those that were there weren't wearing masks and obviously weren't bothered about the public not wearing masks in enclosed areas either.
Advice. Stay Safe. Stay Alert.Avoid this place until this deadly virus is beaten.

Wonderful place to visit, and very interesting as well. Its better if you visit in the summer, as during winter months it doesnt do itself justice. Brilliant place to go with the kids, as notonly do they have a great time, but they learn things of importance at the same time.

Was only here for a couple of hours while my wife did some photography, I'm not really into the green fingered life! But it was nicely.
Only disappointment was finding a strawberry tree with no strawberries!

It's definitely not a place to go in the winter (although it was supposed to be spring). Quite pricey for my son to have ten minutes on the playground & five watching fish! In Summer it's a totally different place with activities on etc. Amazing for events too. I'd not seen the Japanese garden before this visit however which I thought was nice.

Dissapointing. We couldn't look round properly due to wedding reception guests and also a photo shoot taking place. If there are other events going on you should either get free entry or be advised before you buy your ticket

Beautiful and calm place to be ... The Gardens as always were blooming, plants, shrubs, trees were stunning. Staff were friendly, welcoming and generous with their advice on maintaining our garden at home. Coffee shop had a good selection, the Bakewell tart is so delicious you need to share it. No two visits are ever the same there is always something new to discover. Can't wait for the butterfly garden.

Nice place to spend a couple of hours, sadly when we visited the butterfly house and aviary were both closed. We weren't informed of this until we'd walked all the way to them at the bottom of the gardens and down steep hills. They were also installing all of the xmas lights, so workmen everywhere... But from what we could see, the evening walks they do should look great when switched on.

They have a nice if rather expensive cafe, with some nice views across the garden if you can grab one of the limited seats near a window.

Defenitely a place worth to visit. Amazing colours, not at all noisy despite being close to the city centre and you can encounter a peacock or two every now and then or a parrot saying "hello". The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it looks a bit neglected, especially the area with historical gardens (Roman and middle-age). Nevertheless I will come back in spring because I think it is indeed worth to come back again and spring/autumn seems like the perfect time of the year for a visit.

Lovely place to go with the family. Just a little expensive. Need some proper lighting around the narrow bushy places in the garden. Also some extra activities for the kids will be useful to spend some extra time. Even though it's in the city centre but feels like country side.

Horrendous ... full of tacky plastic model animals making a lot of screeching noises . We left after having had our senses assaulted. Pity because we had hoped for a quiet solace in beautiful surroundings. Will be warning our friends not to visit for the remainder of April whilst this ice age event is on.

Had a fabulous time at the Botannical Gardens. It has an Ice Age Exhibition on at the moment so you are paying for this so check the prices. The Gardens are beautiful. Not so keen on the caged birds. Lovely cafeteria and the shop and plants that you can buy are lovely. The Ice Age Experience is definitely an experience. Some of the moving exhibits are brilliant and hear them roar! The virtual reality section is brilliant and costs 5.00. Beautiful day for a beautiful side of Bham.
