We were supposed to travel to London in late March. Despite the fact that Big Bus was not even running in late March, they have refused to refund our tickets. I am very disappointed in this company's unethical business practices.

Not a travel review but an employee one.

Our car got stuck on a curb outside the big bus service depot in Wandsworth. The curb ripped the front of our car bumper off and this chap from Big Bus Company came over and helped salvage it!

Super helpful, went out of his way for no reason. Very decent thing to do so thank you.

I am extremely dissatisfied with my London Big Bus Tour. I have used this company all over the world and always enjoyed them but there were too many things that went wrong on my most recent tour for me not to complain. Out of the several tour guides (I believe I had 5 or 6) from the day, only one of them provided commentary. It appeared many of the guides were either hungover or too unenthused to be bothered with telling us about the beautiful and historic buildings we were passing or even just staying next to due to traffic. There were 3 occasions where the bus was just completely off schedule with no one at the station to provide information on its arrival. And half of my route got diverted because of taxi protests, which I know is out of their hands, so I didn t even get to see essentially the second half of the route but they didn't even offer an extended grace period or anything to come back and hop on another day so this was just icing on the cake of an already bad experience. When I did them a courtesy of contacting them without writing a public review, they never responded.

Extremely disappointed with the service (or lack of it) we received when taking my family, together with my sister and her family (from USA), for a sightseeing trip to London and a trip on the London Eye.

The staff at each stop should create a queue and not let it be a free-for-all each time the bus pulled up. This was a big stress each time we wanted to get on. The upstairs was always full and we were stuck at the back on the bottom deck which was useless in trying to see the sights of London (and boiling hot). The staff should also liaise with other staff at other stops to keep the customers informed of how long they have to wait.

Having to stop our journey early due to the heat on the bus, we walked from Eastcheap to the River Cruise stop at Tower Millennium Pier to get back to Westminster. After waiting for 45 minutes for the river cruise we then had more waiting around at Westminster for the bus, which eventually arrived late and also packed. It didn't state it wouldn't be stopping at the next five stops so we had to get off and walk from Buckingham Palace to Duncannon Street (Charing Cross). We waited for 50 minutes to be told by another bus tour company that the buses don't run after 7pm (it was 6.50 at this point), so we decided to walk towards St Pancras to catch our train home. Then whilst walking along the Strand, a Big Bus Tour bus overtook us and we tried to stop it but he said to run to the Aldwych (including my 68yr old mother, myself, my sisters and our 6 children). We made it, just, then the bus sat there for about 15 minutes until it eventually departed.

Not only was the day extremely expensive, it was a lot of wasted time waiting around for the buses which DO NOT run on time - and when they do turn up they're frequently full. You'd be luck to get a seat on top.

A very disappointing service.

It is very crowded; you can not sit, see, and listen. The staff are not friendly; they will not help people. My family did not enjoy. Actually, it was serious hassles for them waiting for the buses at every stop and buses are very crowded

Terrible bad overview and app. Poor directions from their guides who do not have control over which stops are out of service etc. Much easier and cheaper with the underground. Only positive are the funny stories the guides can tell during the trip

The tour itself was excellent. The audio described all that we were seeing and was very informative.

The only negative was end of day procedures. The pickup was not timely. We knew the pickup time and had to wait 45 minutes past that time. We were tracking the buses and there ended up being three in a row. Then the bus we got on told us we had to get off at a certain location which was not where we intended. The tour ended and we had to get off before the location we started at.

A very proud price for what is offered, which for example by the London Explorer Pass at an acceptable price, but still proud. For the rain on the day the company can not do anything, however, the buses were crowded and the guides partly soggy. The live commentary was missing on some buses and no bus could listen to the live commentary below on a particular channel. This should definitely be fixed! The live commentary itself was very informative and entertaining.

Worst organised tour I have ever had we lost 2 hours because they just drive a very short circuit (15 minutes) and nobody knows which coach we had to take. I would never book a hop on hop off from big bus tours.

The tour bus is very nice, but might have been the weekend, might have been the weather, it was so crowded that in some cases we got stuck downstairs for the majority of the time. The Blue bus is not very frequent, and therefore it ends us being overcrowded even at not crowded hours.
Wort part was the live guide in the Red line, who kept speaking just about who were the rich men of the area, the celebrities, how much stuff costed in the area, rather than actually explaining what we were seeing. i have been in a few tours already, and i think this was the worst presentation i have ever heard. And the banter, Bye-Love you-Miss you already-Miss you more than chocolate is fun once, then it just gets silly. i would rather like to know the facts of Notting Hill, rather than the house prices and silly jokes, also considering the ticket is not cheap.

Big Bus tour London is my second experience with the Big Bus company. I actually think the London options are quite good because they have a route option with a live tour guide that runs almost all day. We purchased the 48 hour pass which includes a round trip boat tour out to Greenwich which we thoroughly enjoyed, and includes 3 different walking tours-- one for the Buckingham Palace changing of the guards, a Harry Potter tour, and a Rock and Roll of London tour. We partook in the Harry Potter tour with our tour guide Kevin and it was most enjoyable! My husband and I ended up being the only people on the tour, so Kevin really went above and beyond to customize the tour for us. We had a great experience!

No indication to find a stop, we waited 30 minutes for the green line which finally did not work that day, the application is not up to date and does not indicate stops. We finally walked to the red line for a 45mn ride, which still cost us 80 so very expensive for what it is ...

Great tour with good information. Disappointed that the buses did not run frequently during the end of August - waited 1 hour + three times during my 3 day ticket. Would have been highly disappointing if i didn't have a multi day ticket. Bus stops list times every 15 minutes but that was not the case.

My family and I just returned home from our trip to London. On June 25, 2019 between approximately 1030am and 1pm my family rode the big bus. We started off on the red line at pick up point number 12. We waited for close to an hour, (it is advertised a bus will come by every 15-20 minutes) and watched 2 buses pass us. During this same time, we also saw 2 of the original big bus (the union jack is painted on the side) pass by and wished we had opted to purchase tickets for that big bus company instead. We did eventually get on, however unfortunately this was not the worst of our experience. Our driver was Wesley and the tour guide was Nick. We found Nick very unprofessional. As we drove Nick was talking about the sites and asking questions to the passengers. When my 20 yr old daughter was incorrect in her answer he made her stand up and walk through the middle of the bus to the end, turn around and walk back encouraging all the other passengers to chant shame, shame, shame while making reference to The Game of Thrones style of treatment. My daughter protested that passengers are not to stand on a moving bus (signs are posted everywhere on the bus), but Nick said he would make an exception, putting my daughter s safety in jeopardy. Of course during this time the bus continued to move, and we are passing sites that we paid to view and learn about. Shortly after this event, Nick also sat on my daughter s lap. We were very disturbed by Nick s inappropriate, abusive and unprofessional behaviour. We got off the bus at check point number 16 and did not return to the big bus to finish our route.

Had taken the Big bus classic ticket for 1 day along with my family. First we picked up the red line bus from London Eye. Noticed that these buses were more frequent than competitors. The live commentary was fantastic! I the afternoon we picked up the blue line bus for palace, etc. We did not get place on top and since we had waited around 10 minutes at the westminster pier, did not wait for the next. The lower deck is just OK. Also did not get to sit atop the cruise, made do with the lower deck.

The tour of London is actually quite nice. However, the lines are not up to date. Because you are not informed that the blue line becomes the organic line. You only notice that when suddenly a different stop approaches than on the map. Furthermore, you sit in the bus and wait for some stops really long until it continues. Really disappointing!

They do not inform you of anything. They have a very good publicity, but that is not real. Old buses, sometimes you have to stand. The comments are recorded, scarce in information on the monuments of London, and most of the time they go out of time with the journey. Very disappointed with the night tour. It is not a tour, it is a route that passes very quickly in front of some monuments without time to observe or photograph them. A waste of time. I do not recommend it! There are better and more modern companies. Forget about BIG BUS

We got on the bus at around 9:30 or 10am on the 31st of July 2019. We got on near Paddington Station on the Blue line. We wanted to go back to paddington station in a couple hours to go to Windsor after riding this tour so we assumed we could ride the blue line around and return on the same bus with no problem.

That turned out to be completely wrong. We first had to wait through 2 buses going by which was about 45 min to get on that bus but then we were packed so tightly into the bus that there wasn't barely room to breathe let alone get a seat and hear any of the tour information through the headsets provided because there were no available jacks. Then after 2 stops on the blue line the bus stopped and everyone was told to clear the bus. That it wasn't going any further and that a block away we could get on the next bus.

At that point we approached a couple employees working the stops and they pretty much pushed us to get on the Red Line even though we had no plans to ride that bus at that time as we had already visited most of the sites on that tour the day before. We eventually got on that bus and surprisingly found comfortable seats up top with a good view. The best part of the whole experience was the live commentary from the guide on the Red Line bus who's name is Rob. He provided a very entertaining experience throughout the ride until the time came for us to get off and find our own way back to Paddington Station.

Honestly I was going to leave them a horrible review if it wasn't for the good experience we had on the bus with Rob. Otherwise the stop workers are jerks. The bus driver and stop worker on the blue line was stupid to pack so many people in that bus because it honestly would have been more enjoyable at that point to just ride the city bus because it was cheaper and at least on the city bus I had a seat more often than not.

All in all I give Rob but the company as a whole - ....

FRIENDS, as in Paris, BIG BUS LONDON, is the solution for those who for the first time travel to LONDON, the routes are agile, punctual and the schedules very wide, allowing them to make the ascents and descents without any problem, the ideal is to make the two circuits, since if in some points they coincide, it is the most successful way to have a mega vision of LONDON, and then discover it on foot ... highly recommended

Too bad the big London bus. I lost all morning trying to take a bus and everyone was out of order. They do not make the complete tours, they skip some stops without warning, it has a night tour that is very bad, only 3 buses that are filled immediately, people are left without being able to get on the buses since they come full from the london eye
I would not recommend it to anyone or buy the service again since it is expensive and disgustingly bad

There are 3 main bus tours in London and BB seems to have the fewest buses and longest wait times. It's also important to understand how long it takes to get from place to place in London. For the cost, we didn't feel like we got full value. Great live commentary, however.

We had several problems. First we don't know we had to get the tickets first to get the cruise, that info is quite hard to find in the page. Second, the audio guide in the bus didn't tell us anything during the short tour we took. We preferred to get regular buses in London cause it takes you wherever you want and it is not so expensive with an oyster card. Sorry for this opinion but for us it wasn't worthy at all

We had to change the bus twice, without reason why. The good places were of course gone.
Buses every 10-20 minutes? Would be nice. We had to wait forever at the stops.
In addition, the extreme stop and go in London.
Even if BigBus can't help it.

Hop on hop off in London is absolutely not recommended.
It's better to ride a rental bike or the subway. This is much more fun and cheaper.

We found that the Big Bus tours in London were an ...

We found that the Big Bus tours in London were an excellent way to get an overview of the City, learn about the buildings and history, and add to the places we wanted to see. We were in London in mid-October and we never had any problem with long lines, getting on a bus, or getting a seat on the upper deck. Buses came frequently and were remarkably good at being on schedule.

The Big Bus employees were all extremely friendly, patient, and helpful, going out of their way to make sure we had a good experience and offering help when we looked confused or undecided, even without our asking.

The live tour guides were very knowledgeable and entertaining. We found that even riding on the bus through the same parts of the city multiple times could be worthwhile because each guide provided a different twist in describing what we were seeing. With one exception, the sound system on the bus was good and we could hear and understand the guides. The pre-recorded guide on the Blue Line was well done and interesting. Free headsets were provided although we decided to use our own.

We did have some trouble finding the stops at times. The location of the stop did not always correspond with the information given in the Big Bus App on our cell phone and could be several hundred yards away from the indicated location.

The Big Bus tour is not the most efficient way to get to a particular destination and you can t regard it as a substitute for the Tube or the city buses for that purpose. But that is not what Big Bus is trying to be. As a way to effortlessly ride through the City while learning about the sites, it is excellent.

Council for the period of summer: period of high season, enormously of circulation, the bus has only one advantage to deserve the great monuments unfortunately in summer it is more a waste of time than anything else if you have for example the London pass and you want to make the most of attractions (I recommend the metro that has been a great help).

After being very impressed by Big Bus in Paris, we booked another two-day ticket for our London trip. Unfortunately, we were completely disappointed:
The buses of the red line were announced for every 10-15 minutes. We have almost always waited half an hour and longer. At Tower Hill we got into the subway after 45 minutes without a bus, once the bus was so crowded that we were not let in. For this there were often empty buses from Big Bus around, which were in break. The highlight, however, was that a driver in the open-top floor with several other people in the rain (it was February) left standing. This is not only unpleasant but also dangerous. Information was rarely provided and the comments were very sparse compared to Paris and almost never accurate. In this respect, the ticket was not worth it, because we often had to travel by public transport.

Well worth it. London is pretty big and we had o my 4 days in town. With the redline you get to see all the main attractions. I recommend to go for the premium ticket so you get the boat ride. The boat ride was the BEST!! The tour guy really funny and knew his history.
The premium also gives you the night ride. Not bad but bring warm clothes if you re planning on sitting on the top level and come with 15 minutes before departure. It gets pretty busy.
Me and my daughter walked the 1st days and took the tour buses 2 days and the walked the 3rd cause we did not have much time.
Also, you can get on and off at almost any stop.

Great i loved it, hop on and hop off is a great idea-tour commentary is great. The route goes through the major points, but one thing that was annoying was the tour only being one way as if you wanted to go somewhere like 10 min drive and opted to take the bus it could mean an additional 2 hours. However this stops confusion and makes it simple for people to understand.

Really enjoyed seeing London this way. There are lots of stops to hop on and off. The red line has a live guide, ours was hilarious. The blue line had a recorded guide which wasn t as impressive. And the green line was described as a shuttle line by one of its drivers. The map was confusing and the app wasn t much help. But the buses were clean and most major London landmarks seem to have been covered. Includes a ride on a river cruise.

We had taken the ticket for three days, so that we could see everything. The first day we had to look for the stop for at least half an hour. The stops are not very conspicuous, you have to look. One of the sellers at the stop printed our tickets for us, and forgot to give us the one for our attractions, result, we lost almost 1 hour in our day to discuss and try to explain it to another seller, who was very kind and took his time to understand us and fix the problem. The waiting time is long .. I don't know if we fell badly at each stop but we lost time and we waited almost 30 min, at each stop. Sometimes the bus stops at a stop, saying that it's the end and that we have to wait for the next bus. 16h / 17h no more buses to return, in the end we took more taxis than buses.

I don't recommend Big Bus, long waiting times, hard to find stops unless you have the app, and trips end early.

We did the Big Bus Tour the first day we arrived in London, and it was a great way to get oriented to the city and see many sights. Throughout the day we rode both the red (live English narration) and blue (recorded audio in many languages) routes and actually enjoyed the blue one more. The only bummer was that there was bad afternoon traffic and we weren't making much progress. Our bus just stopped at 6 pm and forced everyone off, although we were hoping to ride a few stops further. We were able to take the Tube to our final destination, but I wish we had been given more warning about the ending time.

This was a really good experience for us, the service that is offered by the staff at each stop is impeccable, these guys are very professional and extremely helpful, not only will they help but they are so polite and friendly. We got advice to go to some sight seeing places and were not disappointed. If your in town for a short while like we were this is a must and the Red Bus Tour with the additional commentary was excellent.

We had on June 6, 2013 a city tour with Big Bus Tours and we liked it very much. The audio guide worked great and we have received a lot of information. The only drawback is the many traffic in London, the buses drove in a column so it was very time consuming. But you can disembark and leave routes behind on foot, and just board again later. This is very convenient. For a first overview of London, I can only recommend the Big Bus Tours.

If you need this kind of bus is because you want to visit a new city (that mean you don't know the city), and if you have questions about the places, do ALL the questions before buy the tickets, because after you paid, the employees in each stations the only thing that they want is: SELL tickets, and don't want to waste time answering questions to persons that not going to buy from them. Also, while I was waiting my Big Bus, always arrives several of the competition before the Big Bus; consider the official = they have more buses.

I chose this company but found that their standard has fallen off crest since reviews were posted. Their staff on the ground is still absolutely Fantastic but the lady doing commentary was not upto the job - their was a lot of trafficking en route that kept here quiet for 80% time of travel. I guess she knows bare minimum about the attractions hence can't fill in with extra when traffic slows it down. However the biggest disappointment came from confusing routes on map - only three out five were functional so we wasted go Proportion of 24% either waitIng or duplicating same route in desperation. Can't recommend this company any more

If I could give negative stars this would be the optimal time. Our experience of Big Bus London in September 2017 was HORRIFIC and that's putting it mildly!!! The bus driver acosted my 17 year-old daughter over a ticket misunderstanding and proceeded to put other riders in danger as he continued to follow us and harrass my family even after we had exited his bus and boarded another. Despite having brought this incident to the attention of Big Bus management (which was not exactly easy to get through their red tape to connect with actual company leaders who can make decisions about staff performance and lack thereof) my concerns were ignored and ultimately dismissed despite the video footage recorded on the bus. My family travels extensively both abroad and across the USA and I will NEVER again board a Big Bus Tour. Be advised Big Bus London is TERRIBLE and I would advise selecting another tour company altogether. This is my first post on Google so I wanted to make it count. Big Bus Tours is our worst experience. I have pics of the driver and the bus he was driving. Stay clear...he is truly dangerous!!!

We enjoyed the 'lift' around London and found the live guide to be informative, but there were some challenges. One trip, the bus driver stopped and disappeared for a 15 minute unexplained 'break' which we never did understand, but ate up some valuable time getting to the British Museum. Another day the bus suddenly made a 'last' stop and changed over to another colored route. A lady boarded the bus and told us we had to get off. Everyone was panicked as to how to get back to trains and hotels. They told us to quick run to another bus which took us on a round about route to Picadilly. Several times at the end of the day (after 5pm), the bus driver acted like he didn't want to take us (or any of the other passengers) on. They would ask where we were headed and even though the bus said red or blue, they weren't going to stop 2. We paid for the bus, but in the end decided not to use it the last two days we were in London.

The guide on our first Red tour was interesting, informed, and very personable. However, after purchasing these tickets online and receiving a digital ticket, we went to a bus stop and showed our tickets and were put on the bus without issues. At our next stop we are asked for our tickets again, we showed them and were given a receipt.

Since these were two day tickets, we tried jumping on a bus the next day, but we were denied because we needed to show the receipts from day one. No one even mentioned that those little pieces of paper were necessary in addition to the digigtal pass. All in all, this was a waste of money for the brief tour we experienced. I would NOT recommend to others.

However, if you can find Matt, maybe you can convince him to give you a personal tour, because his narration of the city would definitely be worth what you end up paying Big Bus.

Giant disappointment
Yes, in London is an extreme traffic. But that is nothing new and no surprise. But then tickets are sold without end, and too little is used appropriately for the traffic situation and the tickets sold. If you finally get a bus after waiting forever, you can enjoy a standing room. In addition also still pampiges staff. All around a clear assessment, this is ABZOCKE !!!
So get an Oyster card and explore the city by bus.

Bus was convenient. They provide headsets to listen to pre-recorded information, which worked well most of the time. The Red line also has live hosts providing most of the same info but with a little more personality and humor. I really wanted to listen to the live guides, but every bus I was on had terrible audio quality from the microphone. It was completely overridden by ear-splitting squeals and electrical noise tied to the buses speed. You could certainly tell who was trying to listen to the live channel, as they would all start yanking the earphones out of their ears when the painful noise started. Seems they'd have this worked out, but it was a continuous issue both days and all buses. Kind of a waste to have a live guide and everyone listening to the prerecorded channel.

The one way boat trip was really nice, and the tower bridge tour bundled in my package was surprisingly interesting. The London tower takes several hours so don't buy a packed with too many extra sights to see - you'll run out of time!

A real disappointment. Stops very difficult to locate. One day the bus we were on broke and they left us lying in the middle of a street with three lanes and we had to find our lives to get to another stop. To us, and to a family that was traveling with a baby seat. Stops canceled, supposedly, due to traffic. I will not repeat and would not recommend this company. We were only two days and with a person injured in the knee. Our idea was to visit all the prominent monuments of London and we could not see almost anything ...
I did not like it.

It's a nice way to get a feel of the city and a quick glimpse of the attractions.

We did hop on hop off on first day of our tour. This helped us see the attractions from a distance and shortlist the places which we wanted to explore in detail.

We took a blue line initially which was boring. We switched to the red line then, which had a live guide who was hilarious. I guess her name was Karen or Carol. We loved our hop on hop off.

Stay away from Big Bus London Tours. Very less bus frequency, very poor quality of viewing from inside the bus. Few of the buses even skipped the hop-on hop-off point even though we were at the stop. The buses are old compared to their competitors like "The Original Tour" or "The Golden Tour" buses. The stop help guy from Big Bus started to argue upon asking why the frequency was less. All in all we had a very BAD experience with the Big Bus Tour in London.

Unreliable services! Bus Stops are not clear and wrong on map! Call telephone number for status of last bus and no one answered!
Though once you're on the bus the tour guide was nice! Don't get off the bus or else trying to hop back on is very difficult!
