Saw Constellation last night with 2 friends and performance was mediocre at best and way over priced $50 for an hour for workshop like quality. Also subject matter was negative cancer, death, and communication challenges. Would have liked to see more upbeats scenes, 4 actors and more than a bare stage. Would not recommend, save your money, you can see free workshops or reasonably prices plays in the 5 college area or select a full length play.

Contrary to the review in the local paper, Outside Mullingar was an excellent play, enjoyed by everyone in our party and other viewers as well. Great job by all of the actors and a great venue to watch it.

Just saw Outside Mullingar in our first visit to the Unicorn Theatre of The Berkshire Theatre Group, and it was as good as live theatre can get. It is an intimate theatre with the farthest row from the stage being closer than most large theatre orchestra seats. The location and building, itself, are simply charming, the staff is very friendly, and the sound, lighting, and set designs are first rate. Outside Mullingar was exceptional with fantastic performances by all four actors who had exceptional timing and chemistry, both individually and as an ensemble. There were very touching moments and high drama with several comedic lines mixed in, in a highly captivating and entertaining performance. I would see it again in an instant, and highly recommend it to anyone. Wow!

This was the worst play I have ever seen in my life and I have seen quite a few. It was not humorous at all. In fact I thought it was very disrespectful of the Catholic church, Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross. It was a waste of our anniversary celebration, time, and money. My husband and I were tempted to get up and leave. In hindsight we should have. It would have saved both of us from feeling degraded.

The Unicorn Theater was the only stage I visited at this location but what I saw was beautiful. The entire property is very nice and the parking is easy. When you enter the theater it is very clean and simple, no frills just a comfortable, small auditorium with a very intimate feel as you watch the play. The production was brilliant and the set was complex and made from high-quality props. I would recommend attending a production here if you enjoy excellent theater at a small venue and are willing to pay the premium for the up-close-and-personal feel.

They always have interesting and new plays at this theater. If you are leery about going to a play at this theater just go get half-price tickets in Lenox or in Great Barrington on the same day. You will be pleasantly surprised.

It's a pleasure to attend local theater. This was our first time and we were surprised how large the theater was. The production was professional from the actors to the stage crew. Next time I visit the Berkshires, this will be a definite stop.

The plays I have seen here have been excellent. I have to say some I have encountered at performances are rude and disrespectful. Beverages are allowed inside theatre and I had wine spilled on me. In going to other theaters beverages are not allowed inside. I think the policy at this theater should change.

Another great Theatre group! We saw Arsenic and Lace here and it was a treat. The cast was incredible and had us laughing the whole way through!

No wifi or service in this area. Hard to find parking but we managed. This rating is based on the play mostly.

About Berkshire Theater Company

Berkshire Theatre Company: Bringing the Best of Theater to Massachusetts

The Berkshire Theatre Company is a renowned theater company that has been entertaining audiences for over 90 years. The company is based in western Massachusetts and has three main venues: The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, The Unicorn Theatre, and The Fitzpatrick Main Stage in Stockbridge. These venues have hosted some of the most iconic plays and performances in American theater history.

The Colonial Theatre

The Colonial Theatre is located in downtown Pittsfield and was built in 1903. It was originally designed as a vaudeville house but later became a movie theater. In 2006, the Berkshire Theatre Company purchased the building and began an extensive renovation project to restore it to its former glory.

Today, the Colonial Theatre is one of the premier performing arts venues in western Massachusetts. It has hosted numerous Broadway shows, concerts, comedy acts, and other performances over the years. Some of its most notable productions include "A Chorus Line," "Chicago," "Les Miserables," "Rent," and "Wicked."

The Unicorn Theatre

The Unicorn Theatre is located on Church Street in Stockbridge and was originally built as a church in 1888. In 1928, it was converted into a theater by Edith Barrett (a famous actress) who wanted to create a space where actors could experiment with new works.

Today, the Unicorn Theater continues this tradition by showcasing new plays from emerging playwrights alongside classic works from established writers. Some of its recent productions include "Constellations" by Nick Payne, "Lost Lake" by David Auburn, and "Intimate Apparel" by Lynn Nottage.

The Fitzpatrick Main Stage

Located on East Street in Stockbridge (just down the road from The Unicorn), The Fitzpatrick Main Stage is another iconic venue owned by Berkshire Theater Company. It was built as part of an estate owned by financier George Westinghouse Jr., who used it as his personal playhouse.

In 1976, after several changes of ownership over time (including being used for storage during World War II), it became part of Berkshire Theater Festival's campus when they purchased it from Mrs.Fitzpatrick's estate for $1 million dollars at auction! Today this beautiful venue hosts some amazing productions like Shakespeare's classics such as Hamlet or Romeo & Juliette along with contemporary plays like Ayad Akhtar’s Disgraced or Stephen Karam’s Sons Of Prophet!

Berkshire Theater Festival: A Rich History

Founded back on July 16th ,1928 under name “Berkshire Playhouse” ,the festival started out small but quickly grew into one of America's premier summer theaters thanks largely due to its founder Walter Lister who had previously worked at Harvard University’s Loeb Drama Center before moving westward towards Lenox where he founded what would become known today simply as BTF!
