One of the best pizza places I have ever visited. Beau Jo's site in the middle of a quaint historic downtown area in Idaho Springs. The atmosphere is a historic, rustic building that hearkens back to the mining era in this part of Colorado. The pizza is excellent and tastes like fresh ingredients are used. Treat yourself to a pizza with the Mountain Pie crust. The crust is thick and puffy, and they give you honey to dip it in, which is a delicious way to enjoy the extra crust on this pizza. Definitely a 5-star pizza place.

The location is iconic. The service was excellent. However, the pizza itself wasn't my favorite.

They do provide many other menu items aside from pizza (lots of gluten free options), as well as a decent beer menu with cider options, and a near-full bar (I think). So I'm confident you'd find something you like.

Their Colorado style pizza just falls apart. The cheese and toppings fall right off the thin crust on the bottom as soon as you pick it up. The edge of the crust, however, is amazing. Drizzle some honey on it and go to town.

I would go back and try something other than pizza, but I was hoping for better pizza.

Been going to this place for years every time I take a trip to the mountains.
The mountain pies are the best!
There are other Beau Jo's in Denver, but the Idaho Springs one is the original & the best.
The water in the mountains have something to do with the crust, which is awesome.

A visit to Beau Jo's is a must for any trip to Colorado, and we recommend it to everyone we know who will be in the area. It's hard to beat Mountain Pie crust drizzled with honey, and I like the rustic atmosphere. The salad bar in claw footed tub is a nice touch.

We went on our way to celebrate my 50th Birthday. A very busy place but they got us in with less of a wait than planned. Of course we had pizza and loved it. Our service was good and we will be back.

Amazing pizza! The crust is also fantastically hearty and they provide honey to top it with when you are done with the best part of the pizza ;). The building is a bit historic, being 150 years old.

Stopped in mid-traffic flow back down to Denver for some grub, and were able to sit at the bar with plenty of room. Our bartender had worked there for 4 years, and gave us great suggestions on beer to ideas for pizza! Such a cozy atmosphere with delicious delicious grub!

Love Beau Jo's. Have to go here coming out of the mountains when we pass it. Our server was 2 minutes slow and gave us a discount. He didn't have to. Awesome dude. Go here for the pizza. If you don't like a mountain pie with white crust and some honey, you're not a Coloradan. And you hate America.

We love coming here every time we go up the mountains. Service is always great, though there may be a wait.

Pizza is just super tasty, and so are the other options.

It's a must if you go or down I70

Cool experience in the town where the Colorado gold rush started (?) The food was average to above-average. The atmosphere was nice but a little dated and some of the cups and plates were on the dirty side. Server was very nice. Family friendly.

The mountain pies are what you want. Made like only Beau Jo's can. This is the original location, it is just bigger now. If you are in Idaho Springs stop here. That has been our ritual for 12+ years now.

This is a chain pizza place but the one in Idaho Springs is my favorite! I'm not sure if it's the original but it surely is rustic and strangely laid out. It's always packed in the service has always been fantastic!
It's not a cheap meal but I promise you will not leave hungry! You can choose from a thin crust or a deep dish crust that you can finish off with putting honey all over it... Like a dessert.
Our waiter Zack was very attentive and noticed how much we appreciated beer. He suggested a local Brewery down the street to try out. We enjoyed ourselves very much!
If you are coming from a long day in the mountains, whether skiing or just checking out the scenery, Beau Jo's is an awesome place for the family to enjoy a great dinner together.

If you are planing to visit this restaurant, be careful! Watch your stuff even if you are going to the restroom! My sunglasses were gone in one minute(by dishwasher as they said to me after a few minutes of searching). I am disappointed.

The food is always great with lots of variety. There's a full bar and the drinks are always good. Service is personable and very good. The place is the original Beau Joe's and very large, so you don't have to wait long.

I went here for lunch on January 8, 2014. The atmosphere is unique, full of history, rustic, and creative. There is a long wood bar, a variety of seating areas, and wood plank floors. There is a pretend old mine shaft where an old elevator used to be. Very cool atmosphere, a lot bigger than it looks from the street.

I ordered the Veggie Combo pizza on their Mountain Pizza wheat crust. It was delicious and piled high with fresh toppings. They bring you a honey pourer to apply honey to your pizza crust after you have eaten the rest. The honey part is one of the most famous elements of this restaurant.

Server Trisha did a fantastic job. She is very friendly and attentive.

This was my first time to this place after hearing many good things, and I will definitely be back.

I don't know how the Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs does it - I really think they put crack in the pizza so that you keep coming back! The Beau Jo's in the Denver metro area aren't bad, but they don't hold a candle to the one in Idaho Springs. I highly recommend to everyone that you stop in at least once if you are on I-70. And make sure to use the honey for the crust!

I often make trips to Idaho Springs just to enjoy Beau Jo's! The atmosphere here is amazing. They have a small bar area that you can sit and enjoy a drink OR they have many many rooms of seating to come in and enjoy one of their amazing pizza's. These pizza's are not for the faint of heart, these pizza's are for those who truly enjoy pizza. Those who want a mountain of toppings, piled on-top of homemade crust, with Colorado honey to help flavor the crust on it's way down! I will be back!

Nothing to write home about. Crust is really thick, and you can use the honey on the table to dip the crust in. This is why it is referred to as Colorado pizza I guess. I thought the food was okay, and the crust a bit gimmicky. That said the staff was extraordinarily helpful and accommodated a very large party that we were apart of.

Wasn't thrilled to get sat up in some random tiny and hot mezzanine without being asked if it was okay. Naturally service was slow but I would blame that on the seating location more than the staff.

Best Pizza place in Colorado! I will make sure to stop back every time I am in Idaho Springs. The Pizza was good, the spinach and artichoke dip was good but the honey cheese bread was amazing! We enjoyed the food but the best part of our visit was Michelle (Michizel) Robbins. I can't say enough about how attentive she was to our table while managing multiple others. She went above and beyond as a server. If I owned a restaurant I would poach her in a heart beat. Michele is the type of server who deserves a 40% tip.

We have been coming here for over 15 years. The food is always good and the service is good. Pizza's take time to bake and these monsters are no acceptation, they are absolutely worth the wait. I was in here last Sunday after a day of attempted fishing, the pizza and beer hit the spot!

Excellent pizza. That mountain pie is awesome. Great vegetarian options (not sure if they do vegan cheese). My girlfriend and I split a large "Hipster" mountain pie and still had a few pieces leftover for breakfast. The place is pretty huge for Idaho Springs and is almost always busy; consider your timing if you don't want to wait long.

The primary reason to visit, the pizza! A really cool selection of pies, or build your own. The crust is THE BOMB, and gluten free is available. It can get quite busy making the wait a bit long at times where "All good things come to those who wait".

The pizza looks amazing, but that's where the goodness ends. Virtually no sauce and absolutely no flavor (ever hear of garlic, Beau Jo's?). Lots of crust, but you might as well buy a loaf of bread for less money, because this crust has NO FLAVOR! Absurdly overpriced. I paid $46 for a large pepperoni and a small cheese pizza. I wasn't given a total over the phone, but I just ASSumed it would only be mildly overpriced, being a small town close to the slopes. I wouldn't pay $1 to have this pizza again. Do yourself a favor, go to Carl's Jr and get a burger.
