Bear Creek low key ski resort/hotel near Allentown...

Bear Creek low key ski resort/hotel near Allentown, PA. This is closest full service ski area to Philadelphia (Spring Mountain is closer but is oriented towards learn-to-ski). It's also one of only a handful of Eastern PA ski areas with liftside lodging.

The crowds can overwhelm the place on a sunny Saturday afternoon as the parking fields are almost as big as the skiable acreage. If you want to go on a "bluebird" weekend consider going real early, aim for Sunday afternoon/evening or better yet stay at the hotel.

The resort has a 510 foot vertical drop from summit at A&B lifts to the base of F lift. You can buy a 4 hour or 8 hour day ticket so you can arrive at any time. There's also a 6 lane tubing hill which is open weekday evenings, weekends and holidays.

We went for the Cheese and Garlic Festival, and made a mini vacation out of it. The festival was completely unorganized, no food vendors except for the hotel. We ditched the event and got food at the hotel and stayed by the pool for the rest of the evening. No much pool seating and the place was more aimed for people 40+. The indoor hot tub had some grind along the rim and just needed a really good cleaning. Food and drinks were decent. Went hiking and the trail was very confusing and didn't match the map they give you.

Such a wonderful place. Have been here for a few events and everytime has been a great time. They handle crowds of all sizes very well. Food is excellent and the service is also excellent. Really enjoy any event, big or small at Bear Creek.

Annual company training has been held at this resort the last 2 years. It is very cozy and clean. A great place for a family getaway, especially in the winter. The staff is very friendly, and their food and prices are great!

We went here for a little getaway to unwind and were not disappointed at all. We stayed in an efficiency room, not that we were gonna cook anything but for the space. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the balcony overlooking the pool and mountain was awesome. The restaurant has amazing food, the cafe was ok, a little overpriced for what they have to offer, but still ok. We ll be back for sure.

We plan to have a big group coming to Bear Creek, after many exchanges conversation ( agree with the prices, type of rooms and meeting room etc ), in last minute they said that they are going to charge another $6000. Why they did not tell us from the beginning? Un professional

Well designed resort, exceptional staff, the outdoor pool in summer is great, although the outdoor pool sitting area needs more umbrellas... Decent dinner at The Grille but the summer staff is so small they don't open the outside area during the week. That's too bad because the design of the resort and scenery are excellent.

The ticket purchasing experience was quick and efficient. The event was well organized and it was easy to browse vendors. It would have been helpful to have an event map if I wanted to find specific vendors. Also, the lines for each vendor blended into each other, which made it challenging to determine which line belonged to a specific vendor. Parking was self-service, so there were dozens of parking spaces wasted due to poor driver skills and a fair amount of traffic circling the various lots. A few personnel monitoring the lots would have more efficiently parked vehicles, allowing attendees more time to peruse the vendors.

Went for a band on the deck night, that was a fun night. Food was good as well.
There were four or five people at the front desk when you come in to the restaurant. Still with all those people they had us sit at the bar to wait for a table on the deck, even though there were three open tables that we saw when we got there.
We went to sit at the bar and had some appetizers and when we were done an hour and a half later we went to the front desk again to see how much longer it would be to be seated for dinner and they forgot we were there. They were actually going to just send us away and said there were no tables. I told the lead person at the desk that we agreed it all this time and then they were willing to accommodate us.
Within 10 minutes they found us a table , which was odd because that meant there was an an empty table. As a matter of fact there was more than one when we walked out there. Very confusing and disorganized.

Was here for a wedding. From a guest perspective they did a nice job of organizing and managing the event with a beautiful backdrop for the wedding. There were a few things that could have been better.

When we arrived, there was absolutely no signage, and no one available (as we were promised), to direct us to the wedding ceremony. Since there were at least two weddings that day, and they bill themselves as a premier wedding venue, they really should have a better handle on guest management.

The sit down dinner was served and presented well. We had the steak. It was nicely cooked but not particularly tasty for a place like this. I just expected more flavor.

Overall, I'd recommend with those few caveats.

All the staff were friendly and helpful. Patty really made me feel at home at the desk, and in the Lodge Antwoine made me feel like an old friend. You'll definitely have a comfortable stay.

This place is great for beginners and park rat beginners alike. The lift lines were minimal as can be on a Saturday mid day. Terrain was lack luster for more seasoned riders but for kids and novices it should suffice. Close to philly- a bit pricey- but as long as the lift lines are empty it should be worth the price. It would be 5 stars but the "mountain" has a joke of a verticle ~500ft?

Tried ordering lift tickets online for the first time at this resort. When ordering lift tickets on my phone, the system messed up the names and dates. I have tried calling for 3 days and cant get anyone to help and I am now out a few ski tickets. Would not recommend.

Wonderful resort. They have music on the lifts (never had that before,) great food at the lodge and has a nice atmosphere. The slopes are usually a bit worn down but not hard to ski. The hardest slopes are mid-level but otherwise this is a great resort! They also offer a shuttle for parking if the front-lots get full.

One of the coolest places to have a wedding. Rooms are always super clean and the staff is always very friendly. I've never experienced Bear Creek during ski season but it is still beautiful during the off season and plenty of activities.

Booked spa services for the day after my wedding which were cancelled/substituted less than 24 hours before (while at my reception) with no time to reschedule elsewhere. While I understand staffing issues occur, the compensation offered was not inline with a company interested in making right on a huge disappointment. A marginal discount and offers of lesser, unwanted, services are not how you make a happy customer in this situation. I'll give a few stars as the people they DID have available, and the facilities, were great.
Not getting to experience them was not so great.

Beautiful grounds! We enjoyed Our 4th of July holiday here. Our room was spacious and spotless. We truly had a great time. My only suggestion would be (for the pool) to maybe have arm flotation devices or something of that sort for children who cannot swim and for the parents (us) that forget them. Ha. You can either sell them or rent them out. We are looking forward to our visit during the winter months. :)

Definitely a nice resort, super clean! But the resort is full of punk kids "park rats* the entire time I was there I heard disrespect out of these immature kids mouths. Definitely needs more authority and respect. Other than that the snow was great and over all I had a good time

The mountain is host to a very nice and clean lodge. Restaurants are both elegant and priced fair for the very good selection of items to choose from. The lodge has a year round pool and hot tub. The hot tub is a little small for the amount of guests trying to use it. There are two hot tub areas. The staff was very responsive and helpful in finding things to do both in and around the area.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. Lots of activities to do and a great spa. We had reserved two rooms and had to wait 45 minutes past check-in to get into one room, and an hour and a half to get into the other room. When I mentioned the unusually long wait, we were brushed off and told it was a busy day. We have stayed here three times, no compensation was offered for our wait. Thinking of not going back.

I really enjoy taking my kids skiing at Bear Creek. It's fairly close to home, the conditions are good, and there are a variety of trails for us to ski.

My kids are all under 10, and we spend a lot of time on the green circle trails. It's great for a family that is full of beginners. There are some lines at the lifts, but I don't think they're super long. The mountain is big enough to hold lots of skiers, and generally it doesn't feel like we're skiing on top of others. The exception is, of course, the bunny trail.

Everyone we met there was friendly, including staff, instructors, chair lift personnel, and other skiers. Everyone is out trying to have a fun, safe time.

On the downside, there's not a lot of lockers to be had. Each fits a medium gear bag for $7. We had to rent two. Also, the eatery gets real busy, and seating is a PREMIUM, so plan to eat before the rush and grab a snack later. They do allow outside food, which was great for us.

Finally, if you can, rent your gear elsewhere and bring it with you. The rental lines get really long. I once waited an hour to get my daughter equipment. Their gear is pretty good, but just plan ahead and account for that time. When bringing your own equipment, take advantage of the free shuttles between parking lots.

The location can be missed if your not paying close attention. We were there to look at it from the outside, just observing. The chance of us making a reservation to stay there is almost a guarantee. We are definitely going to take the kids there in the winter to do some tubing

Small mountain in comparison to others. But the lack of altitude is made up for by the many amenities they offer. Everything from the spa and disc golf course, to the tune & ski shop. Cant forget the multiple restaurants and hiking paths of course. And outdoor hot tubs and open pit fire stations. Great employees too! They really have it all.

Friendly staff, many decent food options, at a proxe expected at a ski area. Lodge had plenty of seating for non skiers or to grab a bite, though required walking up stairs or taking elevator. Lockers available to rent at a fair price using credit card which was convenient. Snow was well groomed when we skiid, and their group ticjet purchase was convenient for an organized outing.
