Pulled pork was outstanding with really excellent selection of sauces that absolutely complimented the pork. Cornbread and hush puppies in particular were among the best I ever tasted. If I were a local I would try everything on their menu given what I had today. Delicious!

This place is delicious! My friend chose this spot for lunch on our way up to Horton Vineyards. It was incredibly busy when we arrived, and parking was difficult to find. However, as busy as it was, the line moved quickly. Everyone in my party got a platter, and not a single one of us could finish our food. I liked that there were plenty of options for food and drink (and that I was able to get a hard seltzer while I was there). I would definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the area.

I drove from 2 hours away to get "The best BBQ in VA". I can tell you that I have had better BBQ from the local grocery store. I am not sure why people hype up this place???? I am not sure if it is a case where people just do not know good BBQ, or they just settle for mediocre food. My wife and I spent $36 dollars for lunch. I got the 3 meat platter with pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. The pulled pork had to be the best out of the 3 meats, but not ranked in my top 50 ever eaten. The brisket was about 2 hours overcooked and dark grey in color. I took 1 bite out of my ribs and threw the rest away. I NEVER throw food away but there wasn't enough sauce in the place to help those ribs.

I take great pride in cooking great BBQ and I do it regularly on my grills I have at home. I do not like leaving bad reviews, but I needed to let people know a HONEST opinion about this place.

We happened by the BBQ Exchange in our way from Baltimore, MD to Charlottesville, VA. What a great find! Very friendly staff with exceptional food and great atmosphere. Hint: get the brisket. You won't be disappointed! Tempted to drive back just for the food!

Must try if you haven't before! Amazing! Where to start.... We called in our order, very nice and friendly on the phone. When we arrived we called to let them know we had parked, food was delivered to our car within 5 minutes. We asked for some ketchup and butter and the lady was very sweet about going to grab us some. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich combo with half&half hushpuppies and fries. The pork was tender, moist and wonderful all on it's own! Sauce was also good. We asked for the coleslaw on the side, and it was done. They gave us extra napkins. Hushpuppies were deliciously crisp on the outside, hint of sweet, and fluffy inside. Melted some butter inside and they were one of my favorites! The only thing I'd have to say that didn't wow me was the fries, but I didn't go to the BBQ Exchange for the fries :) Next time I'll be sure to only get the hushpuppies for my side.

Well I tried their hell on a bun sandwich, flavored with 8 different ghost pepper hot sauces with peppers and all ( what they said ) , takes up a large carry box and a small handsized carton of milk . after bout ten good bites I caved ( the dirty tricky is the bacon is the hottest thing due to its dipped in that sauce! Oooooo the humanity not the bacon!)

Food was good but I'm only giving 4 stars becuz the place was rather small .

But if your a person who lives for a challenge or looking to sate your masochism( like I was) try the hell on a bun and avenge my failure!!!

We were deciding whether go to a chain restaurant drive-thru, or spend the time and money ordering here.
The employees were personable, the long line moved quickly, and we got more for our money.
Definitely go local!

Super friendly staff, prices are OK, generous portions, good (but not fantastic) BBQ. This is a popular place, so expect a line, but it moves fairly quickly. Ribs were VERY good. Pork was good. Brisket was ok but not a lot of flavor. Ditto the pork belly, as if they just didn't have any rub on them before smoking. Nice selection of different sauces on the table. Open 7 days/week 11-8 for lunch and dinner.

Food was excellent, however customer service was definitely poor. We ordered food on line for a group of 9, when the food was brought home we noticed our order was not complete, the slaw was missing.
When we called the restaurant they didn't apologize only stated we could return for the missing items or be given a credit. We asked for a couple of muffins for our inconvenience and was told by the manager Jared he could not give us anything for their mistake .
This will be our last meal from Barbeque Exchange.

Great place to stop for BBQ!

Great place to stop for BBQ!

Added 2016-5-23 - My favorite sandwich here is the large sliced brisket with spicy slaw but today I saw they had a new "Hell on a bun" sandwich. If you finish it you get a T-shirt. I pride myself on eating hot food, and I finished everything inside the bread, but the bread soaks in all the sauce and blew my head off! I am glad I tried it but definitely NOT going to try again. HOT! Only the most brave should attempt!

If you are in town and don't stop here to eat you are missing out on some great food!

2017-1-3 Tried the Purgatory and really enjoyed all the different flavors. I loved the fried green tomato on it, as it wasn't something I would ever expect on a BBQ sandwich.

This local BBQ joint has become a mainstay in the Piedmont area. The BBQ options include pulled pork, beef brisket, BBQ chicken, housemade sausage, pork belly (amazing!), and now even smoked tofu! Their sides are almost as amazing as the Q! The only downside is the crowd! BBQ Exchange is worth the drive from anywhere in the surrounding area.

What a line!! Too long for me normally. But we are from out of town and wanted to try something local. So we stood in line. Wish we would have eaten there, but had to take back to the resort. We enjoyed all of it. Fresh and tasty. Just wish the line moved a bit faster. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Great BBQ sandwich and fries. Will definitely be stopping by here again next time I am in the area. And they love bacon as much as I do. Can you say bacon chocolate chip cookies? How about brownies sprinkled with bacon?

Some of the best BBQ in the area. The meats are smoked to perfection and they have a good offering of sauces (Col. Bacon is my fav) although I don't care for brisket being served in sauce, but everything else is good. If you like spicy, get some spicy pickles.

I tried their "Hell on a bun" and it's not for those scared to eat spicy foods - I think you can cool off in hell after eating that sandwich (it's the size of a small loaf of bread).

Overall, I have never been disappointed eating at the BBQ Exchange, and they always seem to handle the crowds with ease. I have family that lives in Gorsdonsville, and I always make a stop here!

Came to visit family from Texas and heard about this place. We ordered the brisket, chicken, ribs, and pork belly. Being from Texas where beef is king in BBQ, I have very high expectations for brisket so for me it was okay. By no means bad, but for me I wasn't blown away. That was kind of expected though. Now the rest of the food was excellent. The pork belly was outstanding. The rub they used on it was a little sweet and savory. The ribs and chicken were excellent as well. I would certainly eat here again.

We've tried out the BBQ exchange a few times thinking we were getting an off day after hearing the great reviews. I'm still not impressed. It's not bad, but it is nowhere near "great." Shawn's BBQ and the Culpeper Cattle Company in Culpeper have a lot better flavor. Their pumpkin muffins were good and the cornbread was great, but I wasn't thrilled with the BBQ itself and since that is why we came, I can't do more than 3 stars.

First off the food is overpriced and not that great. The wait staff that takes the orders are rude! And you should never write someone s order with magic marker then put food on it! That In itself is unsanitary! If you are taking orders, no matter how busy you are there is NEVER a reason to be rude to child....pick on someon3 your own age, like an adult who can defend themself! I don t care if this place was on food network or not the level of professionalism is very lacking! And yes I m a VA local resident! Lower your prices, get better and nicer staff!

OMG, this is, hands down, THE BEST BBQ EVER. Came back 2 days in a row while staying 45 miles away, yes folks, it's that damn good. The ribs are Devine and the chewy bacon will have you drooling for more. Every dish we tried for two days was amazing. The pit master was super nice and showed us their smoker and explained a little about what they do. Don't miss out on this if you're close by, you can thank me later....

Went here with the family. We all enjoyed it and everything was outstanding from the mains to the sides to the dessert. There are better places in the world but this place is top tier, a great barbeque experience.

My husband ordered a 3 meat platter, you can tell that the ribs were not fresh, left over from the day before. I got the bbq chicken and it was cold. The only thing I really enjoy was the sausage. Don't think will come back again.

This is a local favorite. Each time I am in Gordonsville I make sure to eat here. The BBQ is great and the prices are fair. I like the variety of sauces provided at each table. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Ordered brisket platter with sides. Sides of greens and cold slaw were great. Brisket was tinder but mostly fat. I compare it to brisket fro two other places where they smoked the briskets for 17 hours and the meat was lean and very good.

Even if the line is long, it's worth the wait. The staff is friendly and on top of all the details and keep things moving along quickly. And the best part is the food; top notch! We ordered the family special of beef brisket and a side of pork belly. Flavorful food, all of it!
