Great food but you will wait for it. They have one cash register and they average 4-5 minutes to ring someone up. And if you ordered take out you get to cut in front of everyone who has waited in line....to their one register. Great food if you have a lot of time. They re doing so much business they probably don t notice the guy at the end of the line, even when they leave without eating.
The BEST bbq around! Be prepared for long line that moves along... or call ahead for super speedy pickup at the register. Love this place!!!

Barbecue was epic! I thought the brisket was too greasy and kinda gross. One thing I must tell you: DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE SPICY SLAW! Collards were delicious and there was little wait. Would reccomend.
Definitely my new favorite place for BBQ. The ribs were incredible and so was the pulled pork. My favorite sauce was the Hog Fire. I'll definitely be going there again.
Excellent! You could taste the hickory in the BBQ and the fried green tomatoes make the drive well worth it.

Pork belly. Pork belly. Pork belly. I know most people go for ribs, brisket and pulled pork, but don't miss out on the pork belly. Don't get me wrong, its all very good but the pork belly was so good. And the collard greens. I wish I lived closer to this place.
I want to get this place four stars, or less, because I stood in line for 45 minutes to get a sandwich. but then, even after that, it was worth it.
OMG! I had the heaven sandwich and it was! Hubby had ribs, mac and cheese and beans. We came from MD for 3 days to visit winerys and this food alone would"ve been worth the trip.

Good barbeque and good fixin's. Upscale eats. Prices reasonable but reflective of the food. There's usually a ten to twenty minute line.
I have never had bad food or service here at BBQ Exchange! Always good food and such sweet and pleasant servers! Pulled pork is AH.mazing! And the hush puppies. Oh, don't forget the broccoli salad (I LOVE that they always make sure you are aware it has peanuts in it, you know, just in case you are allergic...how awesome and caring!!!)! And, you can doodle on the tablecloths! GO! Get you some!

Pulled brisket sandwich was extremely tender. The BBQ sauce options on the tables allow you to try as many different options as you want.

At least they tried to have tofu. I was not happy with the taste of their sauces though....
They have good food, their macaroni salad is awesome! So are their cornbread and pumpkin muffins, super light and yummy.
HOWEVER, they have a hard time fulfilling large orders for parties. Every time we order for a large party, part of the order is always missing. One time it was cornbread, one time it was meat, another time we got the completely wrong order of meat.
If you do have a large order to pick-up either have the person who made the order go and check before leaving or give a copy to another person and have them check before they leave.
Very good bbq. Bbq salmon is on the menu for non-meat eaters. Expect a bit of a line when ordering. Good experience overall.
Stopped at this place while passing through town and I'm so glad I did. Got the Belly Q sandwich and hush puppies and it was fantastic. They has 6 homemade varieties of BBQ sauce on the table and my only complaint is that the hogfire wasn't hot enough for me, but the flavor was fantastic.

Great bbq place! The food was delicious and the ambiance is pretty laid back. I had the BBQ Pork Platter with spicy cole slaw and the mac and cheese. I also tried the chopped brisket and potato salad. Everything was worth the belly ache from over eating! make sure you get the pumpkin muffin. It sounds like an odd pairing, but it all goes together. Also try the sweet tea. Definitely worth the stop if you're passing through Gordonsville.
BBQ Exchange is the real deal. Genuine southern style slow roasted BBQ. The food here certainly didn't disappoint during our visit to the area. We came during COVID operations, so take-out only. Was still a great meal. A couple things important to know:
1) They are closed on Tuesdays.
2) During COVID operations, I strongly suggest ordering ahead by phone or web. It could be as much as a 30-minute wait for orders otherwise.
We were visiting from South Carolina and this restaurant was recommended. We enjoyed it. Food was delicious and customer service was fantastic. Will return when we are back in the area.

Best barbecue in Virginia. I love the smoked sausages and the brisket. My wife loves the pulled pork. All of the sides are excellent and the staff is very friendly. People drive a long way to go here and there is a good reason why.

Wow! If you have a vision of the perfect BBQ experience this is it. Great portions, friendly helpful staff, and classic BBQ joint venue. Getting in and out of the parking can be a little tricky because of the intersection of all the main roads into and out of Gordonsville. Drive safe.

We LOVE coming back through here after a long hike in the mountains, delicious food, couldn't ask for a better experience, dog friendly for the outside seating and great staff!

Always seeing crowds here on our Shenandoah national Park trips. Finally stopped here. We don't eat pork or beef - so we have limited options in barbecue places. Had to wait for half an hour to place our order, but food comes out quickly if not with the order. We tried the pulled chicken and smoked tofu sandwich with a wings platter. Sides of broccoli salad and spicy coleslaw yummy. Sauces at the table. Hogfire was pretty hot. Bread was sweet too. Good meal, but probably not our cup of tea. Friendly service too.
The line is always out the door for a reason, it's worth the wait. Get to the counter and release your inner fat kid, it's worth it. If you don't like their food, I'm afraid there is not much hope for you in this world.

This is my Texas barbeque treat while I'm so far from home. They have excellent ribs, brisket, pulled pork, etc. The sides are delicious as well.

We love the Barbeque Exchange! Often we get the pork or chicken family meal to go (1 lb of BBQ, 3 sides, 4 pumpkin muffins, & 4 pieces of corned bread or 4 rolls). If it's Friday or Saturday night, we'll call ahead and the efficient staff has the order ready when we arrive - no waiting! Sometimes we get Brunswick Stew as a side and enjoy with the corn bread the next day for lunch. If we're hungry, we'll get the hush puppies or onion rings to munch on in the car ride home. Craig's Carolina remains our favorite sauce but they have a variety of creative sauces. My bride & mother in law hail from NC and love the BBQ! We've never had anything bad and tried lots including the salmon & tofu bbq plus the ribs. I had a committee meeting on the porch w/ folks from the Valley and Fredericksburg. After tasting the bbq the committee doesn't want to meet anywhere else. We had my brides birthday party at a large table inside last year and everyone was happy from the three year old grandson to the birthday girl. The smiling staff always treat us like family so we never tire of visiting for dinner. If you haven't been to the Barbeque Exchange, check it out!!!
