Good food
Good food
I advise however the bar to eat because it is faster and as pleasant as a table; the staff is qualified and charming if you do not consider the butler who will make you sit in the cellar if he could

Fred's is an institution, and is located in almost all the Barney's locations nationwide. We came specifically to try the special Alexander Wang X Barney's pulled-pork sandwich, and it didn't disappoint. It was very delicious and highly recommended... The service was decent, but not extraordinary, though.
Overpriced dishes , super crowded and loud , average servi e that was not as attentive as you would expect, given the price. I guess it is conveniently located inside barneys.
The robiola is the best!! However, the service is not the most friendly
Yes, it can be loud. Yes, you have to be careful about talking about people as the chance is you know someone within hearing distance or the person you're talking about does. But it's convenient if you live in the neighborhood and the food is very good
This place has the best burger I have ever ate in my entire life."
Good restaurant, a little bit expensive. Please note it is inside the store.
After a long shopping spree through Barney's, you're probably left pretty hungry. Luckily, there's Fred's on the 9th floor to satisfy your hunger. I've been to Fred's in Beverly Hills, so I kind of knew what to expect when coming here. The food was going to be solid, but nothing mind blowing. The majority of folks that come here to eat are your older Upper East Side crowd. Tons of ladies eating with their friends and chit chatting about their day. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious, and actually tends to be pretty busy during lunch hours. If anything, make a reservation prior to save yourself a wait.
As far as my lunch goes, I decided to keep it incredibly simple and go with the spaghetti and meatballs. At roughly $21 for spaghetti and meatballs, it is definitely a little on the pricier side, but then again, you're eating at Barneys, so $21 is the least of your worries. The spaghetti came out as I expected. It was good, but it wasn't incredible. I found the meatballs themselves to be a little on the blander side, but at least the noodles and sauce were decent. If pastas aren't your forte, their salads are actually pretty huge.
In the end, you're probably not coming here specifically to eat. In the area there are a bunch of other options, but for lack of effort, Fred's is a good choice while you're tearing through Barneys and getting your credit card workout.
Food is always good, scene never disappoints. The best chicken soup!
Thursday, Dec. 26 - The bar - at 3:15pm.
I have no problem spending almost $30.00 for a salad but I have a huge problem with getting NO service while trying to enjoy it. I wish I could blame the bartender but the truth of the matter is that the management should have been aware and or made aware. My experience was less then satisfactory and nothing should be less then excellent at an establishment like Barneys.
Fred s is one of the top, most fashionable, see-and-be-seen lunches in New York. Favorites include the Chopped Chicken Salad, Palm Beach salad and...um, the fries. The fries are some of the best I ve ever had. You can t go wrong here.
The food was satisfactory, but the service was disappointing.
Barneys is my favorite shop in New York also the best place for lunch!
Food and service is always top notch. Lunchtime service at bar leaves something to be desired.
Lobster Cobb salad is especially delicious, but everything is good and prices are appropriate for the neighborhood. Lots of business meetings and ladies who lunch.
Food is reliable. Nice space much more pleasant than shopping !
Gret food, specially the pizza and the seafood, The service is just awful
Fabulous gem and a treat when shopping at Barneys. Amazing chopped salad with nonfat mustard dressing. Amazing brunch too!
Great for brunch of lunch. Good scene. Prices high for what you get.
Worst dining experience in New York ever. It should not be in Barney's coz it ruins such a good place for shopping. The service is horrible and the food quality doesn't worth the price.
Food is expensive....some servers are very customer service oriented. Dishes are okay farmed ingredients, the Garden City Hotel is much better with their cuisine though
It's my 3rd time here and is more about the ppl than then food, I will say. I guess is a "chic" place to see and be seen. Not really impressed with menu , service nor food. Over priced for no reason. And ppl are just that, ppl. Nothing really interesting to find under pretentious botox, fillers & Gucci shoes. Who wears Gucci anyways. Vegan salad was ok.
didnt like the food taste.. pizza is not soft, tortellini is normal.. salad has nothng special.. and unfortunately, hiiighest restaurant bill I payed throughout my trip.. many restaurants in town are less costy and better.
Used to be the best store in the world when the original was down in Chelsea. they helped launch romeo gigli and prada and other designers years before even Bergdor'fs would dare to carry them. really sad that the Madison Avenue store is like a giant cross between Nieman Marcus and bloomingdales. Like, what's the point in just being safe and carrying stuff that you can get anywhere?
Everything from the maitre'd to the staff and the quality of the food is first class. I love coming here and I'll always be coming back!
Good for people watching if you're into it. Overpriced, waiters have attitude, and food isn't special.
This is our go-to place for a business lunch or to spot a celebrity or to just enjoy a delicious Club Salad or Warm Lobster Salad.
interesting crowd. Food good. place is more attractive than food.
One of my favorite places, good food, good wine list and excellent service .
We go here every year for brunch on mother's and father's day. Good food and service in a pleasant setting.
Probably the best steak I have ever eaten. A really nice place to go.
An unexpected place to find some of the best bagels in the city. Something about ordering a bagel platter at a place that literally has white tablecloths feels a tad weird, but the bagels and smoked fish quickly make you forget.
People watching is wonderful here. Fashionistas and celebrities a like eat here. The hardest thing is deciding which salad to choice.
Great place to meet friends or clients or even stop by to get a bite or a drink alone. Relaxed but fashionable atmosphere where you can dress up or down. Attentive service and great table placing for privacy and nice bar. Fun to shop before or afterwards too! I love all the pizza's & their chicken with mashed potatoes is to die for!
Fav place after work. Sitting at the bar and having the Fries is a must.
This iconic gem is absolutely fabulous and the good news I just heard is it s not going anywhere!!! Freds Madison Ave. is remaining open!
How long will he stay open if Barney's is filing for chapter 11?
Fred s is a New York City classic especially for lunch. The food is always good (won t blow you away but it s tasty) and there s always a vibrant scene. If you re trying to have a celeb siting this is probably the best place to start. The food is very expensive though.
Didn't shop. Sat at the bar and drank. Good service and pretty cheap for the area.
My wife had a meal today that was the essence of mediocrity. The lettuce in the salads were brownish yellow, and the other dishes were poor. Because this was a celebration and she was not paying, no complaints were made. So if anyone is looking for poor overpriced food in elegant surroundings, this must be the place.
I have been 3times, the first was fabulous because I had lunch. The second and third time was at the bar for the green tea mule. At the bar the bartenders are not very hospitable and actually act like they are doing you a favor. The green tea mule was just okay the second time and the third time just bad. Warm with 3 pieces of ice. So sad. Not going again.
Wonderful restaurant with excellent service. Get the Fred's fries!
Excellent from beginning to end..
Jean Franco, Roy, Palash...all zmaxing!!!
On the pricier side, but a great pick for a refined brunch/lunch. Get a side of fries
Elegant and welcoming, the service is discreetly excellent!
Simply excellent. The staff are lovely... friendly and professional. The food is exquisite, with the Lasagna being the best on the planet.
Always an incredible experience, and the vegan options are plentiful!
Barneys is about to close, but Freds is still hanging on. Hope you continue to exist, here or elsewhere. Food is remarkable.
Amazingly poor management and rude staff!
Tried to have lunch today. My wife and I have been waiting for 40 min. When we brought this matter to the manager s attention she has been arguing that waiting time was only 36 minutes! She told us that we may leave and gave us no apologies.
We just left. Do not recommend to anybody.
I waited months 2 go here , when my food was bought out it had hair in it
Good salads and brunch. The style of good could probably well be described as American, but without massive portion sizes. The service is ok, but the servers aren't that great at serving. They bustle around a lot, but don't really seem to get a lot done.
For my taste and palate enjoyment it was good. Nothing major had a good time, great service.
My bestie and I have a monthly Ladies Who lunch meet up. This month we selected Fred s @ Barneys. We adored it! The service, the food and the atmosphere were perfection. I had the lobster roll and my friend had the chicken caesar salad. The ingredients were very fresh and delicious. A diner at the next table strongly recommended that we try the pomme frites. We did. We split an order and it was divine. Every plate that I saw coming into the dining room looked scrumptious. We are going to put this restaurant back on our rotation which for us is the ultimate compliment.
Pretentious and staff a little stuffy. Trying too hard to be cool and misses the mark
Despite the closing of Barney's an NY landmark worth the visit
First off, you may want to hurry and eat here because it's located within Barneys and may close along with the store.
Having said that..... one of the best places for lunch in Midtown with their famous chopped chicken salad and a great lunch menu of all the basics.
And the fries are awesome.
