Much more expensive than the online BN store (2x the price) and you get to experience the worst customer experience from the guy with glasses that doesn't even listen to you and is limited to short answers out of context.

Wonderful place to stop in. Possible to just brouse. On the second floor there is a children's reading nook. Which is a great place to introduce your pre school children to the world of book's and reading. There is also places for adults to sit quietly with a book.

Great help as well as size for a Bnk. They even have a great coffee shop on the 3rd floor. They had a good selection of non profit books but not an overburdened amount. Like the ambiance as well.

This is a downtown Barnes and Noble that has lots of authors speak. It's a little hard to find, but it's across the street from Union Square.

I saw Social Media Guru, Gary Vaynerchuk talk about his book, Jab Jab Jab Right Hook. There was quite a crowd. Good stage, great selection of books. If you see an author and want a signature or picture you have to buy the book ahead of time before they let you get a seat.

I love all Barnes and Noble. Great place to go for a first date to get to know somebody and find out their interests.

A fantastic bookshop spread over 3 floors. Could quite happily spend a couple of hours getting lost in here. They also stock a great range of collectables. Will definitely come back next time I'm in New York.

For cafe: The pumpkin cheesecake felt like it came out of a freezer plus it was mixed up with carrot cake first... And no forks in the service area... I usually love getting it because of the cream on top but it had ice crystals in there! The staff was agitated/rude. When I was asked whether I was helped, I said no and my order was taken. Immediately after, the person in front of me was asked giving me a look. That person already had her order taken... And instead of going shopping, I had to wait for the cheesecake to thaw... Not a good experience for a rest stop. Also the cheesecake was $3 which is cheaper than usual and made me wonder whether it was fresh.

It's a huge store and at first I did not understand where I was supposed to find any book. The employees there were very nice and the book I was looking for was on display on another floor. They just kept a copy at the customer service desk, next to the checkout. Really nice of them!

I love this store. We're running out of bookstores where you can go and browse and leaf through books. Then, you can pass some time looking at magazines you never even heard of before. The children's section is amazing. Their crafting book section is not all that great, but it's the best we have in the city. They even have a textbook section on the fourth floor, as well as an area of folding seats where you can sit a peruse books.

Barnes and Noble in its heyday had so many titles in stock, even obscure ones. Now a visit to the store is disappointing because so few titles are on the shelves. The store staff is helpful and always offers to order it for you. If you want a specific title that is not current or a bestseller, easier to order online. On a recent visit, I was amused by the Harry Potter Lego display with an errant Batman in the mix.

Clean and helpful sales persons. Love the bargain section. You can get a bite and coffee inside since they have Starbucks. It's not just books. Nook store and games and more. Great place for picking up a gift.

This is a massive three-story Barnes and Noble with an incredible selection. The prices here are what you expect from a physical retailer and to be honest, I find it useful to peruse books here and then buy them online at a reduced price (I'm sorry if this is putting stores out of business, but books should not cost $30). The staff here are very friendly and willing to help you find what you need or make a recommendation. The store is clean and well-organized and you'll be able to find nearly any book you're looking for. The only downside is this store can be crowded especially during the afternoons and on weekends.

Several floors of heaven. Located right across from Union Square Park. Barnes and Noble cafe upstairs. Great Bargain book section. The $25 annual membership really pays off because you get to save an additional %10 off of sale items and they always have great deals.

Grab a book, meet a friend. Good place to plan meeting up with out of town friends or people coming from different boroughs before you wander around. Also a good place to curl up in one of the lounge areas and try out a new book.

This particular branch of Barnes & Noble holds a lot of memories for me. Every bookseller I have encountered at this store has been helpful with locating books and giving recommendations. I have met so many of my favorite authors here including Amy Tan, Neil Gaiman, and Lemony Snicket. This particular photo shows 'Mortal Instruments' series author Cassandra Clare with actor Ed Westwick (he appeared because he narrates some of her audiobooks).

Out of all the nobels that I've personally visited this one has widest selection, great friendly helpful staff, CLEAN bathrooms, a ton of seating area, Wi-Fi. Just everything. I go here almost daily.

My favorite Barnes and Noble to go to in NYC. It's spacious with 3 floors, room to sit outside of the cafe area, and the staff is ready and willing to assist you. Every now and then there are great events held on the third floor, like book signings and readings. It has free WiFi and comfortable chairs to sit in and read peacefully. Although it is in the middle of Union square, it is pretty quiet and most of the customers are respectful. I love to go here and just relax.

Beautiful Barnes & Noble, and a huge one at that. This location has 4 stories, all for different genres/age levels. The top level is also used for events such as author signings, which is what I was there for. Go check it out if you're in the city!
