It's nice to see the golden globe for meditation but you can just see it from far off and that's a disadvantage.
There are vehicles like vans that take the elderly near the globe but I would not recommend to take wheelchair people to go here. It's not something too fascinating.
Take the walk, you'll find good advices for your mind and soul. Of course, there is the matri mandir. But the star attraction is this banyan tree. They also have shops with natural fruit ice creams and snacks. Good place to spend a calm evening.

Wonderful place to be. If you are the one who loves nature and peace then one should be here to experience the best. The season time is mostly aug to Mar of every year where one get to see lot of happening. Great food choices and decent prices. Resorts are available at decent prices locally. You can take a bus to reach here from the main busstation or a personal cab. Friendly environment and good people around. Very well built culture
More of a hype from a tourist's point of view. There is nothing much to see or experience except viewing from a distance a globe shaped structure called the Matri Mandir. Not everyone is permitted inside Matri Mandir. Even to view this you are required to view an introductory video for about 10 minutes or so and walk for roughly a kilometer. Aged persons and persons with disability are provided with free transport. The structure as such is beautiful to see and take some pictures. But there isn't much to do after that. A snack and juice shack provides some succour from the heat.
Tip: If you are on a vehicle and following directions on Google Maps, do not search for 'Matri Mandir' or 'Auroville' as it will provide wrong directions. You need to provide 'Auroville Car Park' as your destination.
if you are a nature lover and are tired with hustle of city life you can consider spending quality time here.
Food was costly. If you r going to have fun, better don't go here. U have to go there then walk for 2km.
A serene and calm place. However, I didn't the trip to be worth as the the walk to the mantrimandir was enervating and we could only vie it from a distance. If you have nothing else to do in pondi and bored, do visit this place. The images I have attached may be flashy but don't fall for it. May be it is a good place to do yoga. The above review is for visitors. Members may visit the mantrimandir and the experience could be different.
Peaceful and soothing environment, there is a 20 min walk to the globe, special facilities for kids and old and those who cannot walk. Dont forget to take passes. Bus service avialable for coming back.
Nothing to see here. They will not let u go in the meditation center and without that you are jist going for seeing a doom

Absolutely delightful place with friendly staff. The place is very well organised. The restaurant serves very tasty organic food at reasonable prices. The souvenir shops have awesome collection of handcrafted items. Must visit if you are in Pondicherry.

It's a must visit ..this much is a no brainer. At first you may be overwhelmed by the size and splendor of auroville ...especially when you immerse yourself in its history. However soon you will begin experiencing a community like none other. Time slows down and you feel at ease. Very structured and organised infrastructure and staff.
