The Auroville Visitors Centre is aesthetically designed and brings out the thoughts of Sri Aurobindo very effectively. The entire area is eco friendly without any air conditioning. The cafes are good and inexpensive serving snacks, light bites and beverages. The shopping centre too is exciting and offers interesting merchandise.
Excellent place for meditation and to feel out of the world everyone should come here atleast once in their life time then u will feel to.come again and again

Its great ! Staff is so helpful. Peaceful for all ages. If you are in Pondicherry, must plan a visit here. Entrance is completely free. The Matrimandir and about 2km walk. Buses are available for everyone to come back. Food is slightly expensive but totally healthy. I loved then waiter said we have pure water and no packaged water is required. Must give restorent a try.
The most visited place in Pondicherry. So this place is in Auroville not in pondicherry. It is some 5-6 kms away from the main city. It has no ticket price to witness this amazingly beautiful place. This one is just the tourist centre. Once you witness this place they take you to the main mandir. which takes 10 minutes bus ride from here ..
This place is one for good peace. Beautifully made golden globe which is the main attraction here.
If you are generally visiting, you can see the globe from outside only and that too from far. Maybe the nearing viewing point is around 300 meters away or more.
If you wish to use the facilities , you have to make a booking in advance, but for that you have to visit them. Cannot make this booking online or remotely.
There are nice restaurants and cafes that serve nice food, delicious shakes and sandwiches. Als there is a restaurant that s elves full meals. The items are made well , but are expensive.
There are also a few souvenir stores, that help visitors take a few memorabilia with them at a cost, which naturally doesn t seem justified at all times
Boutiques have trendy collections but slightly expensive. Eateries are good. The intro video is very popular! :D Passes to view & meditate in Matrimandir are issued here. Ample parking place.
Auroville is a peaceful place. The visit inside matrimandir was great. Though you have to book tickets to visit matrimandir prior. Else you can just go to the viewing point and see matrimandir from distance.

Great place to enrich your outlook ! Half day trip from Pondicherry . Great Cafe ,boutique , natural surroundings . Bicycles can be rented , unless one prefers the 15 min walk from the entrance to the main Centre . Free Vans for elderly also available . Boutique has some great stuff to shop !!
This is the entrance place to the peaceful international community of Auroville. The information center does not help you register for different activities (e.g. the ocean swimming classes of Auroswim) or book a room or tickets: it only issues permission passes (appointment) to enter Matrimandir, the huge temple of the awesome golden globe/dome, which you can view from outside too. The service is quite informative, and its architecture, cool even in the summer, is lovely and you will enjoy its atmosphere. You watch a film about Matrimandir prior to getting the pass. Many people visit the Visitors' Centre before they walk inside the beautiful, spiritual and serene Matri Mandir structure or find and experience peace in silent meditation under a huge tree there. There is a lot of quiet greenery on the way by shuttle bus from the Centre. It is not closed on busy, the most visited Sunday, when there are long queues (not recommended, and waste of time, so plan ahead), but there is no restaurant, shop or cafe open after 22.00. There is a shopping area where you can spend good time and see many visiting tourists. The costly items available in the expensive shops & boutiques with many stalls include organic products and stuff to buy. There are basic facilities there. There are a few small cafes and restaurants serving food worth trying, few options. Drinking water is available. Within a walking distance, there is a clean parking space outside the centre, with trees and nature around its entry, is nice but not free, is maintained really well despite lots of cars, and the staff is helpful and friendly. Many a vehicle is from Pondy. You are not allowed to park elsewhere. One must go 6 km from Pondicherry/Puducherry and Sri Aurobindo ashram to reach this pleasant location in the forest near a village. The point of entrance is off the main road. The unique concept of this city of spirituality and yoga in India was made by the Mother. Her vision did not include any rules for the life in the city, apart from "no religion". To stay longer and explore the amazing energy of and the world of culture Auroville, I recommend the visitor can rent best places in a wonderful natural environment where one can meditate in silence and relax in its ambience of serenity.
