Excellent place to visit, Bus facility for kids and Old aged people need to walk but worth a walk... as a visitor you would not be let closer to mata mandir.

Very peaceful and green. Amazing place to just sit and enjoy the day. A little far from the main city, but worth the trip. Good amount of places for shoppers and foodies as well. All services are fairly priced and given with politeness. Great staff, everyone speaks English. Good selection of food and beverages, suitable even for a hot day.

Great place providing all the minutest details about Auroville. The staff at the visitor centre are well informed and there are also restaurants serving organic food using the organic produce grown in Auroville's farm. The price at the restaurant is quite affordable. After a long day out in scorching sun this place is like a Oasis serving some good food and flower based drink.

Place is good. But now it is a resident of foreigners. Entry is restricted after 4:30 evening.

Auroville is an unimaginable place inside Puducherry, Indian union territory. I have been to this place several times during my stay at pondy for about 6 years. It's an international village inclusive of people from various geographical region. Best thing I enjoyed here is having tea in Dinesh canteen under trees and just roaming blindly inside the acres of auroville. Every time you find this place fresh and refreshing. A place with full of positive vibes and if you have been there you reconsider your thoughts and get adjust to simple life style. I love to be back in Auroville, a place to rediscover yourself. I recommend this place if you want to get lost in nothing!!!

Information about Auroville is shared at this place, so one should first visit the same to achieve a better understanding of this city. One who want to visit the Matrimandir obtained a briefing from the video room of the centre, can proceed to the Matrimandir in buses provided by the Auroville society. Visitor centre has two restaurants serving delicious cusines.

Peaceful, serene and beautiful place. People can visit Matri mandir (passes to be taken from the visitor's centre till 4:45 pm and on sunday till 1 pm).

The place is clean and well maintained. Bookings are needed to visit the temple. Try at least a week before you plan to visit. The park around are beautiful. Could not find anything else interesting here. Went back within an hour.

This place is quite unique in the area. You don't really know what to expect when you arrive, and it takes around 25-30 min of waking around until you get to the point when you start to understand.
You get to the Matrimandir, and u see this rounded wonder made of gold. It is very disapointing that one cannot go inside, but only have a far look at it from the view point. But it is a very nice view, and it is also interesting to see the video at the visitor center on how this place was formed.

It has a parking place.other than senior citizens need to take a 1km walk through the woods to reach matri mandir. Return from mandir to parking is facilitated through a free bus drop

This place is so organised and people there are very friendly and supportive. I went there to reserve my slot for meditation at Matri Mandir. It remains closed during lunch hours.

You should walk a lot, just to see the golden globe at a far distance...

Don't visit if you can't walk for 1-1.5kms.
After entering into the auroville they have some art works for exhibition. After that you can enter into video room where a video is played about auroville. After that you can walk around 1km to see the auroville globe.

To enter into the globe you need pass, you can purchase before visiting there. It is available online.

Don't worry about the parking, they have a very good parking facility. While returning from auroville they have bus facility.

If you don't have pass then you can see the globe from outside and click some photos and return back.

it is actually nice to visit here but whenever you are coming just bring your own vehicle as the local transport is very rear.

We waited almost 2 hours to book the slot for the next day... the annoying thing is the limited time slots for booking itself.. well thts annoying coz they we have to rush our site seeings and run to the place.. they said there are only 2 slots from 10-11am and 2-3pm.. but the bookings were closed by 2:20 itself.. And at times you will not get the slot inspite of waiting for the booking as it gets full.. I Donno y they needed an ID proof.. as if we are going to steal the whole globe of Mathi mandir... Too much hype about the place... Too many restrictions and rules to be followed..may be that's how they thought you'll know the value of it... they asked us to remain completely silent in the meditation room.. and even if u feel like coughing we have to go out do it and come in.. but my bad I was so hungry that my stomach started growling and the voice was heard it coz it was extremely calm.. over all I give it a 4 star coz, apart from all of these the experience you get inside is something different.. and believe me it's worth visiting it once in a lifetime...

It's about 12 km from pondicherry railway station. It's the starting point for Matrimandir viewpoint or booking. This place has some exhibition halls, cafes, shops etc where you can buy locally made handicrafts. For entry to the viewpoint of Matrimandir, you have to take a free pass from a desk. If you want to enter it, you have to take a pass one day ahead. The walk to Matrimandir is beautiful and through forests. There is a shuttle for return. At the center, they charge Rs 50 for the parking.

This is basically an info and shopping center. Apart from Matrimandir passes, you cannot book there anything else, like the Auroswim ocean swimming lessons or yoga classes.

It's nice place to see the entire campus main attraction is Matrimandir

Wow what a beautiful place to visit in Puducherry. The place is so peaceful and quiet. Its full of green trees and the way this place gives u the experience of being surrounded by the nature is surreal. The architecture of the Matrimandir is something to admire. The banyan tree will take your breath away.

On top of that the place is kept well organised by the authorities. Great cafes and stalls to beat the heat.

But the best part about the place is that its running on Solar Energy.

A peaceful place. The cafes there serve the best fresh juice. The shops have some really good handmade products. The natural ornaments and hi-tech blend to it just adds up to the beauty of the place.

The cooperative ppl, the aura of the place, the serenity and the detailed presentation, all contribute to make the place worth visiting.

Calm place. With a forest walk for about 10min to Matrimandir view point

I love that place personally....

1.Its not a commercial tourist place. If you like peace and meditation then you should visit once.
2.A cafeteria also there, try muffins there, you can get southindian and continental breakfast there.
3.A shopping complex also there, you can do shopping for clothes and home decorative items, but price is very much high.
4. This is the place from where you can visit Matrimandir. You can get pass for Matrimandir outer visit and also golden globe inner meditation visit pass from here.
5. If u want to go Inner meditation to golden globe then you have to attend this place one day before at 9.45 am with aadhar card to get the pass. But for golden globe outer visit you can get the pass same day.
For getting pass and all pls be punctual, they dont even entertain 5 minute late comers also, management is very streect on timings.

Beautiful, serene and full of nature - a must go if visiting Pondicherry.

The visitors center is quite crowded during peak season. But all the information you need about the place is available. They will help you out with every detail. The place also has a small seating area surrounded by small snack bars or ice cream places. The entire place is well organized and surrounded by trees. There are a few gift shops as well incase you want to purchase something.

This is a beautiful place no doubt about that. But a tourist trap as well. You can view the huge dome from about 200 mts. You have to walk about 20 minutes for this. Not worth it.

Beautiful place to visit when in Pondicherry.
There a viewing area from where u can see the maitri mandir. For going inside maitri mandir u need to personally go there the previous day between 10-11.30 am and do the booking for meditation but this booking center is closed on Tuesday.
Otherwise u can go to the visitors center collect information watch video and the take a free pass to visit maitri mandir from outside.
This place has two cafeteria, ice cream parlour, kalki nd mira boutiques.
Overall had a good day tour of this place we had booked an auto for up nd down for 700/- which picked us from white town and on our way back we went to surguru spot restaurant for our lunch then he dropped us back to our villa.
