Auroville is an experimental community in southern India. It was founded in 1968 by the spiritual leader Mirra Alfassa as a town where people from all over the world could live in harmony. Its focal point is the Matrimandir, a futuristic, spherical temple covered in gold discs. Auroville Botanical Gardens protects the region s tropical dry evergreen forest.

Not to be missed if you are travelling to pondichery

Best attraction in Pondicherry. It is a well planned and maintained township of global importance. The peace and greenery here lets you experience a divine feeling when you are here.

Very peaceful place to spoil your day also you need to book in advance if you want to visit inside that oval shaped ball.

A lot of places to eat here, you can get passes for Matrimandir viewing point and meditation sessions here.

This is a very large park..nature walk kind of a place with the very impressive looking matri mandir dome structure..u wud need to walk for atleast 45mins to reach one way. Meditation activity is a terribly cumbersome process to book 2 days in advance in a very limted time slot.

Very well maintained. Calm place for a good walk surrounded by nature. Food options are limited and very costly.

Nature all around.. " every tree/ plant has a meaning" this is what you learn when you visit here.. neat and clean place.. there are many cafes inside this place which you should forsure try.. among the all the famous one is AUROVILLE CAFE...

Awesome place if you are a nature lover. Don't forget to participate marathon if you are a runner. You can enjoy the view while running. Recently I had a beautiful experience around the place with all my friends. A new experience every time you visit. Don't miss out if you are going to Pondicherry.

I did not get a chance to go in as Sunday evening is closed but could view from outside and also saw video but to much of walk

This is the best place to start your journey of Auroville. It gives a glimpse of the life in Auroville. It is also the beginning point for a visit to the Matrimandir. Buy a map of Auroville and start exploring. The people are very helpful and the environment is very lively.
There are some good canteens, and outlets (boutiques) for sale of locally made products like paper items, soaps, perfumeries, books and many others, although the things are not cheap at these outlets.

Nice place, do visit their shops , specially musical instrument one.

A place of future world in India and happy being a chennaite reaching the place in just 2 and half hours ...! A good calm place ... seeing the beauty standing away is the real essence in it ...! I just live this place. Who loves nature, must go there. One should talk to his mind,soul and brain. I guarantee you can discover the new person inside if you.

If any obe want to visit inside the Auroville matrimondir, ge shiuld take permission ir appointments from the authority by email or directly by present there.

Nothing much to say, I was disappointed by a long walk and then view from far. Though other things were good like Bakeries, stalls, open ambiance.

Looks nice, but couldn't get chance to see the inside of the sphere.

Amazing place .... it s so spreaded widely in big area but still you feel ... pin drop silence ... the great place to have meditation if you get visiting entry with prior registration

Try going by 9:30 as post 11:00 it's too sunny. Walk towards to the Auroville is a beautiful experience altogether. If you are familiar with the route,one can opt for cycling as well.

Pretty good and different place ... be prepared to walk lot ...

Calm place .....but too much walking....hire a bicycle if possible

If you are a follower of Aurobindo, you will connect to the place and enjoy. However for others it may feel like too much effort for nothing great.

After travelling all across from Pondicherry city, one has to take the passes for the Matrimandir View Point. Then one has to walk through the pathway surrounded by trees and some artifacts in in-between. Then you reach the Matrimandir View Point and return back. The pathway to the viewpoint is good and one can enjoy when its not sunny.

This place offers variety of options for any visitor. There are 3 boutiques that have ranges of handmade products of incense sticks, candles, soaps, cotton clothes, etc. Then you will find gallery that takes you through journey of Aurobindo and Mother along with ideology on yoga as art of life. Look for Matri Mandir that has its own story to be told. Finally, decent eateries that offer tamil plus french cuisine especially desserts.

Place was soo good, and the lag part was distance . better spend time with ur loved ones at this place .

One of the place to find peace. The place is beautiful, pathway to walk clean road to drive. Information centre provide a good guidance for the places to visit. Visitor centre is the main hub for the all the things to do at auroville. One can sit all day thre and nevr get bored. Three main food joints. A shuttle is available free of cost to reach information centre.

Review for dreamer s cafe
Very bad , very very bad. Never ever go. They are cheaters with arrogant attitude delivering very pricey food.
The worst part is the Poor and pathetic service by the staffs.

I ordered for a lemon tea from the counter, I got billed for the same , the serving staff hands me a ice tea and says, we don't have lemon tea and so you better take this ice tea and drink it, that too in a arrogant tone.

When I take the issue to the person who billed me , that I don't drink ice tea , and I had ordered lemon tea, he says : "I have already billed for lemon tea ( which coated 80 rs) so for the same amount he can only give me ice tea as he can't change the bill.
I needed something hot for my sore throat, but they were so arrogant in their behaviour and they dint even apologize for their mistake and were ordering me to drink what they have inspite of me ,paying money for what I wanted.
Hygiene is at its worst. My sore throat got very bad after having food from here.
