I was disappointed bc a friend sang praises and we drove 3 hr. To get there. Had the lunch special of shrimp, deviled crabcake, cucumber salad, and.conch fritters. Shrimp was okay (used to old bay), deviled crabcake was okay with tartar sauce, conch was lacking in meat..but dipping sauce good. Husband got bourbon pecan pie..definitely not homemade. I received a yellow key lime pie. Enough said.

Always delish, always fresh! Incredible view, friendly service. Shrimp salad is always wonderful, steamed shrimp is perfectly seasoned without being overwhelming. Best food and service in the yacht basin!!

It's one of the restaurants we have to go to every time we go to the beach. This time, we both got Thee Special, and conch fritters to share. 1/2 pound of steamed shrimp, a crab cake, and corn on the cob. Plus beer and cider on the honor system. (I can't find the cider I had at home, but it was amazing too!)

It can be a long wait, and seating can be tight. But it's worth it for the view and the amazing food.

Definitely worth the wait....food was delicious and service was great. Shrimp and crab cakes were awesome. Go early so you dont have to wait as long however no matter what the wait is, it is worth it.

It was good. Drinks were good. Fast service. The crabcake sandwich was just ok. Tasted like it wasn't home made, more like possibly frozen from the factory with very little crab. We also had the conch fritters which were awesome!

The dining area is a dock over the yacht basin. Love this place! I always get the special- steamed shrimp, corn on the cob and crab cake. The food is delicious, but the view cannot be beat! Here's the inside info you need to know: You get in line outside (there will almost always be a line). The host will ask you for an article to place on a table when one becomes available, so make sure you have something like shades or a hat. You can go inside and get yourself something to drink from the coolers. It's all in the honor system. When your table us ready they'll call you. Your order is placed inside before you go out to your table. It's different, and not for a fancy night out, but I'll bet you'll love it, too!

Had "Thee" Special: 1/2 LB steamed shrimp (seasoned with Old Bay Seasoning) +crab cake+1/2 ear of corn. The shrimp was delicious. Will go back again. On the water. It's a busy place. Be prepared to wait. We went about 3pm, the wait wasn't too long.

It's not what it use to be. Fish steak was way over cooked, everything else was just so so. Ita nothing to get excited about anymore.
It use to be a hidden gem, now it's just another subpar seafood place for the tourist.

Great for a quick bite! Love the crab cakes! Bar attendant was nice and friendly!. True thing: The place is always crowded so be sure to be patient or go to the bar for drinks while you wait! This time is was very windy but it didn't stop us from enjoying our shrimp!

Be aware that they say they are dog friendly. Sadly that means that your dog can be near ish to your table...tied to the outside of the fence. After waiting 40 minutes for a table, it would've been nice to have this policy explained thoroughly so we could've gone elsewhere, as our dogs will not "be okay" tied away from us. Frankly I'm not ok with this either, so we didn't stay. Can't speak to the food but it smelled pretty good from where we sat outside and waited...

I can see why this place stays busy. Everything we ordered was delicious. There's six of us in our family so we just ordered a bunch of food and divided it up. Price wise it was not terrible either for how many of us ate. I ate my weight in shrimp it felt like and did not regret it one bit. If we still lived in the area we would be going there every chance we had.

11:10 am Labor Day 2017, Great service but we did not get what all the Hype was about. I should have researched better so that I would have known they do not serve Oysters Or any fried Seafood....Why people drive from afar and wait in line outside for cold Crab Cakes and cold Steamed Shrimp is beyond me. Been there done that....but not again.

Good food. Service works different from any other place. They call your name get in line ....give them something to mark your table.....order...get a beer out of the cooler or fix your drink....go sit down.then they will call your name again...hold up your hand and they bring the food...need another beer go get it out of the cooler...when you pay tell them the extras you got. Great water view while you eat. I think it is a good dining experience. If you have not been go

The tuna steak sandwich was ridiculously awesome. I'm not one who usually enjoys seafood but it was delicious. Also tried the crab cake lunch special but it had a bit of a fishy taste that i wasn't a fan of. My grandmother (seafood lover in the family) thought the crab cakes were some of the best she ever had so to each their own.

They have always been one of my favorite places to eat and it did not disappoint this time either. I had the shrimp and crab cakes, my husband had a cheeseburger and my boys had a grilled cheese and hot dog. We love eating out by the water and will definitely come back here every trip we make.

Great if you like peeling a bunch of shrimp. Could use more seasoning imho. Staff and service are pretty awesome and even on the hottest days, it's pretty tolerable thanks to the location right on the water.

The food is pretty good and the location is nice, being right on the water and all. Just keep in mind that you need to eat under the shelter so that the birds don't attack you. Apparently that's been a problem and they will warn you about that. I can't say I blame the birds. If I were a bird I'd probably steal an undefended french fry.

Don't believe the hype! The shrimp was nothing more than Old Bay, I can cook them at home! The crab cakes were round, FLAT & FRIED, poor crabs died in vain! Not baked fresh lumps of crab; more like deviled crab stuffing that was pattied & fried. The cucumber salad had no flavor & the potato salad was lacking mayo, but full of celery... Yuck!
The ice machine was broke had to wait forever for the employee to keep fumbling with the inner parts in order for it to spit out ice. They sat us at a table that leaned so bad our food was about to slide off unto the floor!!! The self serve drinks would've been great but the whole concept is so unorganized! !! I think by the time people get their food they are too buzzed from alcohol to taste it!!! Beautiful view on the water, very limited menu! Will not go back. Sorry, no pics of the food it was unappealing!

Outdoor based restaurant, go up to the front order what you want and then you proceed around back to the deck that overlooks the water. Full bar to get whatever you want to drink and the wait staff will bring your food out to you. When you're done you simply go to the register and pay for your meal and tell them what you had to drink from the bar. Locals come here to sell their fresh catch of the day so depending on what is available could cause the menu to change. But they had a very good steam shrimp and devil crab cakes which are always available

We eat here almost every time we go to Southport. The atmosphere is great. You can walk out on the dock while your table is being prepared. If you have a boat you can pull right up to the back of the restaurant and tie off while you eat

Eh we were expecting more from here. I don't like the covid restrictions at all. They basically don't wait on you at all. The crabcake was ok, nothing to write home about and the shrimp was like most other places shrimp around that area. Food was good over all. Like the eating on the water feel, beautiful scenery. Prices were good. Menu was small to choose from. It is a good place to eat but NOT the best place to eat seafood. The staff was nice.

Really fun casual seafood restaurant. You can grab a beer while you wait for a table, and hang out on the deck, the restaurant is right on the water. Awesome shrimp, crab cakes, steamed clams and a lot more.

Great food with a fantastic view. Sometimes there is a wait but it is worth it. The servers are very friendly. Usually a great breeze to accompany your meal. Drinks and adult beveragea are self serve. Highly recommend. Great shrimp, crab cakes, burgers, and chicken sandwiches.

Service was excellent! but the food was just alright, pretty basic, flavorful but very simple. crab cakes were very fishy. But I did enjoy my time, it's nice that it's on a dock. couldn't help but notice that all of the wait staff were white and everyone in the kitchen wasn't.... maybe just a coincidence? lol

Food was really good and they have an amazing drink menu. Not really a fan of their COVID-19 set up. It s way different than everyone else. The hostess actually takes your order before you re seated. You find your own seat after you go to the bar to get your own drinks(soda included) and you have to get your own refills. Just different from the precautions other restaurants are taking. A+ on the food and drinks, though

Building and facilities: decent amount of parking on-site. Restrooms appeared clean. The atmosphere is pretty cool and unique. It s all outdoor dining under a pavilion with fans, right on the water.

Service: friendly and laid back. Overall efficient. Not too long of a wait on a Thursday night.

Food: my group had conch fritters (mediocre, a bit too chewy and over-fried), the crab cake dinner (crab cakes had a decent taste but were pretty dry and again over-fried, cucumber salad and fries were good), tuna dinner (pasta salad and cucumber salad as sides, also good. Tuna was good), and crab cake sandwich with fries (see above).

Drinks: bar drinks are way over priced if you don t get one of their specials. I m talking over $10 for a small (4-6oz) cocktail.

It s pretty much a self-serve place. You give the guy your name and he takes an item from you (phone, keys, gum etc) to hold your table. Then you go in the little shack, grab your drinks and order your food. They bring your food out and clear your plates, but you get your own refills.

I couldn't help but try to address the idiot who gave Provisions (what us "locals" call it) such a bad review...

Hey, dummy...first off, the Yacht Basin Provision Company restaurant wasn't even open 3 months ago....they don't usually open for the season til around mid-March

Secondly....in all my years of eating there, at no time have they ever had an antipasto

3.....(if you're counting)....they don't "number" how many shrimp you are going to be served

I could go on...but, I just wanted to let the rest of the world who read these reviews know that you were too dumb to rate & review the restaurant you actually visited....opting to try and flex your Internet muscles by disparaging one of the best restaurants not only locally, but probably anywhere on the eastern seaboard

Next time you get drunk & kicked out of an establishment, try to check with any friends you might have as to where you actually visited....I'll be anxiously awaiting your next half-cocked, idiotic review

One of our favorite places for lunch or dinner. Always a wait, but the self serve honor system beverage set-up while you are waiting makes it worth it. Beautiful view while waiting or dining.
