A little prices on some things, we were served shrimp that had previously been frozen which is a little disappointing when right on the water. Crab cakes were good as well as the service. All seating is outside but covered.

I'm good we found this place. The food was really good and not crazy priced. My grilled tuna sandwich was perfect as was my wife's steamed shrimp with crab cake.
You may have to wait but is the best place to eat in the whole world love it will continue to go till I die we even why are playing down there just for lunch
I literally have no negative remarks about this place. The "whole in the wall" atmosphere and amazing and fresh food. 15 bucks for half a pound of shrimp and a crabcake. The drinks are all on honor system. And it works. I just have nothing to say because it is just that good. Go here and eat. Period.
A place that our family always tries to eat at when we go to the beach (we have driven from North Myrtle and Topsail Island to eat here). Small menu but everything is great. Steamed shrimp, crab cake sandwich and conch fritters ( ) are some of our favorites. Can get crowded so come early or grab a drink and enjoy watching the boats on the river.
Best crab cakes and steamed shrimp hands down. This place is my favorite place to visit when down at the beach! You get to sit outside on the water and watch boats go by as you eat.
Our go to spot for steamed shrimp and a good view. The staff here works hard and the management is excellent. During our vacation we ve seen a lot of places understaffed and struggling. Provisions is an exception, and as a result they deliver excellent product and service every time we visit.
They have one guy in the kitchen, so they don't take parties over 6. It was still really slow getting our food. I would be willing to give it another shot, but they need more people (even another person) in the kitchen. The view is really pretty!
Wonderful atmosphere! As you enter, you'll order your food at the front counter. They have a good selection to choose from. Entering the dining area you will pick your table, possibly out on the open air patio. Waitresses are quick to attend to you and have great attitudes. Food comes quickly and is of excellent quality. Deserts are to die for!
The view makes this restaurant. The staff is friendly and the food is good. For some people the first time experience can be a little intimidating as you order and get your food inside a very small building then walk out to find the table that has been reserved for you. The menu is on a board on a wall and i felt a little rushed to make a choice but can be indecisive. You pay at the end by going back inside and giving your name and listing/confirming what you ordered. It is very laid back and casual and a place my family visits multiple times when visiting the area.
Love, love, love this place! The peel n' eat shrimp and crabcake are my favorites! My hubby said the cheeseburger and onion rings were great too. The people are friendly and efficient. We loved the open air seating with views of the waterway. Such a nice day trip from Wilmington via the ferry. The Provision is one of our favorite places! Highly recommend!
Service was excellent, but we found the good average at best. We ordered several lbs of shrimp and found them to be slightly overcooked and underseasoned. The conch fritters had hardly any meat and simply too much breading.
We make this place a part of EVERY trip to Oak Island. LOVE the tuna med/medium well. Great "serve yourself" beer selection. Make sure you trek across the road for ice cream and a t-shirt. This is a local icon. Delicious waterfront dining.
Despite getting a lot of recommendations to go here, I did not love it. The best thing we ordered was the cheeseburger for our kids. The cucumber salad was also very good. The crab cakes were most disappointing. They tasted like deep fried Thanksgiving stuffing. The shrimp was standard old bay seasoned boiled shrimp but they were not easy to peel. The potato salad was also not good. The other shock was that they charge for cups of water. Not my first choice!
Best place to eat, if you are looking for seafood and a a fun dinner. Loved the steamed shrimp, potato salad, onion rings and the staff. Would go every week if we could be in.
I truly love this place. I NEVER goto oak island or south port with out visiting! The service is always kind, the food is always fresh and good, shrimps have great seasoning, crab cakes are so fresh and on point!! Cucumber salad is usually next to none... depending on whom makes it lol.. if your ever eith in 15 miles of this place its is totally worth the drop in.. one bad thing.. it's only open very certain times of the year so always check website!
My favorite place of all times! Been going there for years and cannot wait to visit again this May. Simple delicious fare, wonderful atmosphere and fond fond memories.
Glad that they are opened up again for the season. Truly my favorite restaurant and town. I love being on the water and their views of Oak Island. Oh, and their steam shrimp is fabulous.
I'm here right now and was told they went strawless; yet I saw two women get a straw and a waitress had a cup full of them. Come here if you want to be lied to.
Can't go wrong here with simple, delicious, southern coastal seafood. There might be a wait, but worth it. Came here in 1998 and again in 2019. Planning my next visit the chance I get.
This restaurant is great all around - fabulous seafood ( the special is what you want if you love shrimp and crab cakes) ! They also have great burgers and onion rings. Last, but certainly not least- the have a very friendly and professional staff.
Outdoor seating is your only option. So when it's HOT, so are you. But it's worth it. The food is great. The service is great. I look forward to the crab cakes every year.
I LOVE Provision Co. I am usually arriving there on a boat. So it's a great place to stop for lunch and then get back on your boat and move on to enjoy the rest of the day. One of my favs along the coast!!!
It was absolutely great! Good prices. Good food. Happy staff. Outside eating but very cool and comfortable because of shaded dining and overhead fans. Yes I go back!!
This place is a must when visiting Southport. Great views if the water, cool atmosphere and delicious food. Be prepared for a wait though, there's always a wait.
It s a shame that I ve lived here only for almost 15 years and have only been to ProCo a couple of times. I revisited today and wondered about the hype that many locals rave about. I was pleased with the fresh, easy options and quick service. Definitely a southport must!
I've been coming here since I was little and it's the best seafood and restraunt environment I can think of. I feel homesick for it until the next time I visit~
Provision Company couldn't open soon enough for me. Grouper Salad was excellent as usual. Missed out on the Seafood Chowder, they ran out twice today. It's that good!!
We thought we would like to eat here. When we arrived what we saw was a total turnoff....lines of people waiting to pick up food people working in an open air kitchen with no air conditioning, food served on styrofoam plates and no where to sit to escape the heat. Not my idea of dinner. We left and found a much better alternative.
Fantastic, water-side restaurant! Excellent service, a very fast grill, and friendly employees all the way around. I chose the Provision chicken sandwich and my Lord it was great!
I would recommend the Provision to anyone and everyone.
Food was good. Nothing spectacular. Nice views. Nice staff. We were seated fairly quick. I recommend getting there at 4ish for dinner. They have a limited menu. I had the Tuna Dinner, and it was pretty good. Given the restrictions due to the pandemic, it was an overall good experience.
Good food on the water! There can be a long wait (like hours sometimes) but they are a favorite in the area. You order at the counter, get your drink at the beverage station yourself or grab a beer out of the reach in cooler if that's what you want, then go get a table. When your food is ready they will bring it out to you and then you pay on your way out at the counter. I had "thee special" which is a half pound of steamed shrimp with a crab cake, and small corn on the cob which was delicious. I will definitely go back when in the area.
Looks like a little hole in the wall on the water. Very fun cool little place to eat. My daughter had been here on a school trip and wanted us to experience it too . We had 3 lunch specials, 1/4 lb steamed shrimp and a crab cake. So good , although I did have indigestion all day from the seasoning on the shrimp. Only me the others were fine. We added corn on the cob for an extra $1 and I also had the cucumber salad. My husband had a grilled chicken sandwich which he said was great too . All of the staff were very nice and helpful. Beautiful waterfront location and full of patrons. A popular spot. We went around 2pm and had no wait for a table. Also a good idea to take baby wipes to clean up after or during eating . The have plenty of napkins but the shrimp and seasoning is messy.
My girlfriend and I took the Fort Fisher ferry to Southport specifically to get to this place. The wait was minimal given the fact that it was a busy and beautiful Sunday afternoon. We had about a 30 minute wait but they really know how to move people through. I like how they do an honor system on their drinks. You just help yourself to the cooler beforehand and grab all the drinks you want. I ended up getting the crab cake sandwich with a side of potato salad. Excellent and fresh food. The views from the outdoor porch are breathtaking. Definitely give this place a go!
Went the past weekend and the seafood is great! Had to wait about 20 minutes but didn't mind because we were able to go inside and grab drinks from the cooler while we waited. Got a table overlooking the water and what an amazing view! Ordered the shrimp and crabcake lunch special and it was delicious! Highly recommend.
Food was great, but a whole section of ceilinged fans on the patio weren't working and the bugs ate us alive. People under the fans seemed ok. If not for that, it would have been great. I would definitely go back and sit under a fan.
This was our first experience and it did not disappoint. Every staff member was very friendly and the food was pretty good. We arrived around 7:30pm on a Sunday and waited around 30 minutes for a table for two. Our food arrived quickly. We ordered the crab cake dinner and thee special . The crab cakes were good but had more filler than crab. The cucumber salad and potato salad were good and went well with the crab cakes. The shrimp were absolutely delicious and we re simply seasoned with old bay. The corn was plain but also very good so it didn t need seasoning. The view was beautiful, there s really no bad seat here because all of the seating is outside. We will definitely be coming back.
