We were so disappointed with our stay at the Arrowwood resort in Alexandria. We had booked Sunday to Tuesday, and arrived on Sunday afternoon to find that the waterpark had been closed due to an electrical malfunction the day before. While we understand that it was not in their control to fix immediately, a phone call to make us aware would have been appreciated, as we drove two hours to get there with small children, and may have opted not to go. In addition, no other form of compensation was offered, and we were initially even charged for the waterpark passes when it didn't open until Monday at 4:30pm (which we had to bring up and dispute). It also then opened with one large section still closed off, which was frustrating for our kids who grew tired of only using the three waterslide options. The staff members were confused, scarce, and the customer service was lacking, to say the least.

As for the resort itself, the rooms were dated, multiple outlets did not work, and we were given a room with 2 queen beds when we had booked for 5 people back in February. The indoor pool was extremely slippery, both the steps and the bottom of the pool, and the outdoor pool was actually nice, but when we went to swim Monday morning, it was being cleaned. We were told it would only take 15 minutes, so we stuck around, and it literally took 55 minutes. There were balconies off the rooms, which provided a nice view, but the door locks behind you if you don't turn the lock.

Overall it felt like one frustrating thing after another, and we would not go back or recommend the resort to others after our experience.

I know this place isn't a 5 star but it deserves way better than it's getting. Amazing people, great views. It does need a facelift but still nice enough. Just be careful on the self locking patio doors!

Overall its an above average hotel for a decent price around the area. Its clean, but outdated and kind of hard to get around if your room is on the far side of the hotel. First night the pool was overfilled so wasnt useable but it was fixed in the morning. Breakfast is fine. A/C was really loud, and poor lightining in the room unless you like it dark. otherwise the room was nice

Arrowwood has great grounds, water park, restaurants and the golf course is decent. The rooms are not nice though and the layout us maybe the worst I have ever stayed at anywhere. There is one elevator, long and low ceiling hallways that give a gloomy/claustrophobic feel to it. The rooms are old and dingy too. The rooms are clean though just awful decor, lighting and layout. They really can't do much about their flaws though unless they do a complete rebuild. The Sunday brunch was really good too.

We enjoyed our stay. However, it is not that friendly for handicapped. Entrances are far apart and rooms in the center are a pretty significant distance from amenities. I would recommend requesting special amenities for those with mobility issues. The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds comfortable.

Condos are great as a family friendly vacation or maybe a corporate retreat. Having stayed here multiple times as both a teenager and adult, it feels very familiar and comfortable. Great games, sports and recreational activities. A full marina, mini golf, and many fire pits.

Nice place. Looks as if some of the areas are not being kept up in the manner you would expect at the prices you pay. Family was made to feel as if we were interrupting the staff any time we interacted with them. Great golf course.

This is a great resort on a beautiful property located in Lake Darling. Aside from looking a little outdated, this is a very fun comfortable place to stay. They offer many things to do to entertain you and your family.

What a great experience! There were tons of mixed reviews on this place, but we decided to give it a chance and so happy we did. Perfect for the whole family! Three pools(Indoor lap pool, outdoor pool and water park!) plus you have the beach/lake. Endless amount of things to do that caters to everyone in the family! Playground, mini golf, arcade, water toys, happy hour for the adults with a game area for the kids, zip line, trails for bikes/running, fire pit with snores! Endless....I really mean endless! Rooms are good, clean and comfortable. Make sure to do Lake view, worth the extra money. Lastly they have a great deck bar!!! So much fun!

Very disappointed needs some upgrades. Went for wedding, which is just a field with some plastic chairs in front of the rooms. Great of you want added guests and some hecklers. Not even a view of the lake as its over grown. We all know the prices charged, yikes..

We got checked into our room and it was not very clean. I have stayed in older hotels and don t mind when things are out dated as long as they are clean.

There was old pee on the base of the toilet, and the carpet was so dusty. There was an inch of dust around the entire border of the room and even more under the entertainment center. We moved a chair and found old fruit snacks from the previous guests. When I checked out the lady at the desk said I m sorry about that, you should have let us know . Let you know about the dust on the carpet that clearly has been there for months? No discount. Nothing. For as much as we paid per night at least get the hose out of the vacuum and vacuum up the dust on the edging.

The water park has a lot of teens life guarding. Some are very attentive and great at their job. Some of the male lifeguards aren t paying attention, have their back to kids coming down the slides, etc. they were oblivious when I went in swimming after my son so a tube wouldn t plow into him coming out. My friend confronted one of them who just snapped back at her and said he was watching when she said how can you be watching when your back is to the slides?

For the amount of money we spent on the rooms and how unkept and dirty they were, I m not sure I would recommend.

Needs to shut down for a season and do some serious updateing and cleaning. Pools and pool areas are gross. Rooms aren't as bad but still need to be deep cleaned and painted. Now sound control- very noisy at night. Charge you for every little thing.

So far not so good
I m currently staying here. 2 days ago we explained our table was broken and were told it would be replaced. Yesterday we had to call again about the table, they came and took it but never came back. Today (third time is the charm) we brought it up again and they showed up looking to replace the table. The buffet breakfast is very sub par, I would recommend going out to eat. Also still waiting on replacement towels but am expecting they will arrive some time today with a table (still not here), not holding my breath. Not to mention the three night minimum requirement was a little ridiculous as far as cost.

We rented one of the townhouses for a family gathering. The kids loved the playground area and swimming and the water park. We also played tennis and ping pong. The brunch on Sunday was a hit for everyone in our group.

We went to the water park. It was clean and well staffed with life guards who were very assertive in correcting people not following rules. Overall a good experience. Lockerooms lack working lockers and changing facilities are quite small. I think this is based on the estimation that most visitors are hotel guests and will use their room to shoower/change Some areas of the park do havev some significant rust stains in the pool. This doesn't seem to affect water clarity however and I assume it could not be remedied without shutting down the resort.

We stayed here with our whole extended family over memorial day weekend. There were lots of things to do from mini golf to beach volleyball and lots of pools. Our nephews loved the water park, but there were only two sides that the adults were interested in. Kind of dingy with one slide out of order.

I got in my room fridge did not work was full of mold , not towels in the bathroom, bathroom sink was dirty . Then we go to the water park then we asked for towels the person was very rude about it and told us it was against his Religion to give us any then we wanted to play tennis and asked the guy where we get the rackets from he said front desk slams the door in our face .. we spent 1 G on 2 rooms for 2 nights and that s how we get treated . I would not recommend or stay there again also the water park needs a little work done to it also ..

We went for the Sunday Brunch. Not overly impressed with the food. Most of the food was cold. They did offer an omelet station and ham and prime rib at the carving station, and that was all very good. We chose pumpkin pie for dessert and it was still frozen. The views were nice, but the sun was so bright and two of the shades were broke so we couldn't pull them down making it annoying with the sun in your eyes. The hostess and server were great!!!

We stayed in a two bedroom cottage. The cottages are very modern and have all the comforts of home, aside from washers and dryers. Housekeeping checked with us every morning to see if we needed anything. The resort has a waterpark that charges admission, but also has a free pool and hot tub. Although the weather didnt allow for a lot of the resort's winter activities, we still had a lot to do. The activity room was especially well-liked by our toddler.

Was very excited for a weekend away. Systems had been down for some time and I'd been calling to book so I could apply their healthcare discount. Finally I booked online and at check in she said she could still apply the discount. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room we attempted to check into would not allow us access, we went back to the front desk to get a new card made and tried again. Turned out that this room was unavailable but because the systems were down they werent immediately aware of that, no biggie. Then we moved to a different room, upon walking in I realized it was not what I had expected, which was a suite with a bedroom set off from the living room, the front desk was great and able to put me in the accommodation I was looking for. The room however was outdated. I was not impressed with the beds or the pull-out couch. The heat is the only think I can run, I need cool air and the sound of it running to sleep well, but even after turning the knob to cool it still blowed warm air.
The building interior is pretty outdated. Hope you don't have loud neighbor because security doesn't go ask them to quiet down.
The WATER!! No idea what is wrong with it but it smells terrible and taste very mineralized. Not good at all, refused to drink it.
In the morning I waited for a hot shower and ended up with a mild one, I didn't even bother washing my hair since the temperature of the water was not comfortable.
The plain pool by the front desk area smelled like socks both days I was there, nasty. Also the hot tub did not have enough water in it so if you tried to run the jets it was so loud and firing water out like crazy. From the feel of the water and the smell of it I'd have to assume the chemical balance may be off. Saturday there was a party that walked in with pizzas and a case of beer, with about 20 people. I thought that outsiders were not being allowed to use the swimming areas, however it's hard for me to believe that 20 people rented rooms for a kid's birthday party, but maybe I'm wrong. We left the pool.
The water park area is nice, it kept my daughter busy and my favorite was the hot tub in there, very spacious hot tub!! I would recommend the water park.
The restaurant has good food, we ordered to go and brought it to our room, I'd recommend the pizza, num. I'd say no to the nachos as The salsa taste store bought, but if you must try them request that they layer the nachos so that not all of your toppings are piled on a mound of nachos and you end up with just a bunch of chips.
The only thing available to do the weekend we were here 10/2-10/4 was swimming and walking on a path outside. The marina is closed, golf course is closed, ping pong is unavailable because they can't give out balls, even the kid zip line thing was taken off so it couldn't be used. This is all confusing since they allow the arcade to be used.
Would I pay to stay at this "resort" again? No.

The cottages are spacious but are showing their age. Winter visitors looking to spend time in the water park should try to stay in the lodge and enjoy making the trip from your room to the water park entirely indoors.

A nice place to stay, comfortable, I only had 2 issues, water stains from some of the faucets and the food. The food outside of a burger and nachos was underwhelming. It was cooked fine, just not delicious. Still it wasn't a bad stay and the complaints are just minor.

We stayed in a cottage it was beautiful lots of room for all of us and then some! Only tick off was that the place is so open that it echoes really bad. Even just in a bedroom talking normal I felt it echoed off the walls really bad... we took advantage of the waterpark in the AM so happy we got there close to open with my 2 year old there was room for him to ease into the toddler zone ... here's my complaint the water in the toddler area was SO cold my toddler couldn't enjoy it he never wanted to stay in that area we went down the one slide go to the lazy river to warm up go down the slide then to the pool. Overall we stayed 3 hours and each of us enjoyed ourselves but I really REALLY wish they would make it warmer for the littles

We booked our room months before our stay, which was set over July 4th. The views of the fireworks from the lakeside decks is AMAZING. One of the huge selling points to families with kids (we brought 4 of our 5) is the indoor water park.
Through a mixup somewhere in the ethereal plane between Expedia and Arrowwood our room reservation did not come with the required water park passes.
Arrowwood management recognized this oversight, and graciously supplied the needed passes - tears vanished, and we soon had littles zipping down the water slides and working their way across the lily pad floats.

The hotel is old, dark, and dingy. There is literally a problem with every area of the hotel. The water park is small and outdated. Only one of two adult slides are working and you cannot bring overpriced hotel food into the hotel water park. You have to buy it from the snack bar and pay even more for less. The indoor pool has a metal ladder step hanging off and a huge leak from the ceiling into the pool. Service is minimal at best.

We just got back from a family vacation here where we rented a 3BR and 4BR townhome. Accommodations were great, we were in kitty corner upper and lower accommodations, but it allowed us to have better access to the fire pit. The internet was awful and front desk asked us to look for a network that you could only get from the main building. This was slightly annoying as it is a conference center and should have WiFi all over. Overall the entire place could use some sprucing up/updating to bring it to an updated time. Kids loved the pool and the non motorized water activities we're easy to get access to and use. The dock workers were super helpful and the dock to park the boat was nice. I would definitely go back.
