Mike P Review of Arrowwood Resort

We were so disappointed with our stay at the Arrowwood resort in Alexandria. We had booked Sunday to Tuesday, and arrived on Sunday afternoon to find that the waterpark had been closed due to an electrical malfunction the day before. While we understand that it was not in their control to fix immediately, a phone call to make us aware would have been appreciated, as we drove two hours to get there with small children, and may have opted not to go. In addition, no other form of compensation was offered, and we were initially even charged for the waterpark passes when it didn't open until Monday at 4:30pm (which we had to bring up and dispute). It also then opened with one large section still closed off, which was frustrating for our kids who grew tired of only using the three waterslide options. The staff members were confused, scarce, and the customer service was lacking, to say the least.
As for the resort itself, the rooms were dated, multiple outlets did not work, and we were given a room with 2 queen beds when we had booked for 5 people back in February. The indoor pool was extremely slippery, both the steps and the bottom of the pool, and the outdoor pool was actually nice, but when we went to swim Monday morning, it was being cleaned. We were told it would only take 15 minutes, so we stuck around, and it literally took 55 minutes. There were balconies off the rooms, which provided a nice view, but the door locks behind you if you don't turn the lock.
Overall it felt like one frustrating thing after another, and we would not go back or recommend the resort to others after our experience.
