Appleton Campbell installed a water heater and a heating/air conditioning unit, replacing units installed at construction 20 years ago. Everyone we dealt with from those who answered the phone to every service person who worked at our residence was, without exception, gracious, knowledgeable, professional, and extremely efficient. Yes, Appleton Campbell is perhaps more expensive than some other companies, but we feel we were treated to superior products, superior personnel, and superior service. We are well-pleased!

David Forney came out to our home and quickly diagnosed and fixed our issues. He was extremely informative and provided valuable knowledge with regards to long-term maintenance of our HVAC in order to help us prepare for the future.

Absolutely the best service, honest, quick and knowledgeable. All the techs and representatives were courteous and beyond helpful. Arrived as scheduled, explained everything I needed to know and left my basement exactly as was- except for a wonderful new and functioning HVAC system. Cannot praise enough. Wonderful company and employees.

Seth was so thorough and awesome! Stacy was also very helpful and walked to my house on the cold to help out!

I am not sure what to think about the recent experience with Appleton Campbell. My 87 year old mother and her 78 year old friend, purchased a maintenance contract for a less than 2 year old HVAC system that Appleton Campbell installed in their home. At the end of the bi-yearly check-up, mother and her friend ended up with a nearly $400 bill. WTH?!?

Have been a customer since 2007 and have used Appleton Campbell for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing many times. Always happy with their customer service and the technicians performing the work. Just had my new heat pump installed and Steven K. and Stuart D. did a great job, especially during the pandemic. Highly recommend Appleton Campbell.

My AC stopped working so I called Appleton Campbell. It was already almost 4:00 and I thought I'd have to wait until the next day, however, Seth stopped by on his way home. Roger and his assistant installed a new heat pump in my house, they were super efficient and conscientious and they even helped me put my fiddley window screen back in place...Appleton and Campbell now has another loyal customer because they've earned it.

Shane and Corey went above and beyond in helping fix my electric in a very bad situation. They stayed as long as it took for the job to be done and to be done right. They were truly great to work with.

WT and Mike helped me out of that same tough situation but finding a leak that was baffling to multiple other plumbers that had come to look (and even a leak detection company). WT even came back multiple times to help.

Larry is the best ever geothermal expert! He s very thorough with maintenance, and is great at diagnosing when anything goes wrong. He also maintains the conventional heat pump we have.

Liam came out first thing in the morning. He was polite, extremely knowledgeable, and walked me through what he was doing and why. It was comprehensive and he let me know everything. He had to make a bit of a mess but cleaned it all up. I would definitely have this guy out to the house again to do more work.

We just had our first experience with Appleton Campbell. I called early in the morning for a plumbing issue, and they showed up before noon. WT Settle, our service technician was courteous and answered all of our questions and resolved most of our issues and completed a water test while here. We have a follow up appointment next week for a water filter installation. All of this was accomplished in one short appointment. I was really impressed with everything.

Matt did a thorough job, as we are accustomed to from the folks at Appleton Campbell.

Glen was out last week and did a great summary of what was needed.
Shane and Travis were out in the pouring rain today and did an incredible job of installing the new equipment until the downpour forced a postponement. Thanks to all for good, prompt work.

Outstanding service! From the initial call Weds morning to Renee, to Jerry showing up to declare our ac dead took an hour and a half. They had loaner window units running an hour later. Renee found a crew (Roger, Danny, Holly)to replace a complete HVAC system on Saturday, when they don't normally install, so we could leave on vacation Sunday as planned. The big job was so meticulously performed that we rescheduled completion of the furnace and humidifier after vacation. Jason and Jeff finished up. The responsiveness, professional and very friendly demeanor of all involved in this stressful situation was truly magnificent. The installer of such a complex system is so important and they have earned our complete trust and confidence. The AC in our home will always be serviced by the AC on our refrigerator magnet!

My A/C died going into a heatwave. I called Appleton Campbell at about 9am, and Davy Kearns got to me before 11. He did a great job diagnosing the issue. My 20-year system needs to be replaced (no surprise), but they arranged rental window units for me to borrow until they can get our new system going. I appreciated the great customer service and prompt response!

Our entire experience with Appleton Campbell has been top notch. From our service call and honest assessment from Seth, to the walkthrough of our options and ultimately the install of our new system, we couldn t be happier.

We had an old builder grade unit that had been giving us trouble for nearly 5 years. We finally reached the end of our units life and within 24 hours of our first service appointment we were set up with a brand new Carrier Infinity system.

Roger, Zack and Justin were on time, worked hard and got everything done in the time we were told. They walked us through everything and made sure we were comfortable before leaving.

We will definitely continue to use AC as our HVAC provider from now on.

So on its way out 2020 decided to throw me one last inappropriate gesture, and left me a lively parting gift in the form oh my water heater going out, in December, on a Saturday; great gift right? So first thing Monday morning, I called Appleton Cambell and explained the situation. They proceeded to put me on their priority list, and assured me a technician would stop by, as soon as one was available. I also got multiple phone calls from them, before a technician showed up, to confirm that I was still on the schedule for that day; and to make sure I didn t have anything come up, that would not allow me to home. After a while, I got a text message sent via Appleton Cambell; alerting me that my technician was not only on his way, but allowed me to track his location so I would know his exact arrival time.Tim Kulesza was my technician, and upon arrival, quickly assessed the situation. He recommended we replace the water heater, as ours was pretty much past our prime at 16 years old. He was able to not only install the new water heater the same day, but also take care of several other items (bringing our system up to code), and fixing a few other plumbing issues around the house, in less than 5 hours. Nothing short of amazing. Not only will I be using them for further home repairs/maintenance, but also recommended them to anyone. As for price, they are not the cheapest place in town, but you 100% get what you pay for, and more.

My husband and I have used Appleton Campbell for a variety of services (AC, heat pump, furnace install, plumbing) and are always extremely impressed.

From scheduling with Renee to the actual work being done (we've worked with Chris, Paul, Mike, etc.), we've received top notch service delivered by kind, personable and knowledgeable individuals .

They are a little pricey, but I firmly believe that you get what you pay for. We'll continue giving them our business for years to come!

We had Bill out to our home to set up some service for our heating system- Super professional and friendly... Very thorough. He's the reason we signed a maintenance contract with the company.
He arranged for Mike W. to come in fix our system which was not an easy fix. He came in and worked all day and within hours-( i expected at least 2 days) had us up and going again. Appleton-Campbell has provided quick, thorough and meticulous service to us for several years at three residences. The ladies at the Warrenton office are polite and efficient. Consistently excellent service has earned my loyalty to the firm, the management of which clearly values its employees. For example, I trust the advice and judgment from Glenn on all matters electrical. His inspection today uncovered issues that need to be corrected and I will be asking him to perform the requisite work. Similarly, two weeks ago Ronnie diagnosed & immediately remedied a heat pump problem and also performed a comprehensive HVAC inspection. I find A-C s Home Savings Agreement to be a valuable maintenance arrangement. Glenn and Ronnie are two examples of why I am an Appleton-Campbell advocate.

Appleton Campbell team is that group. We've had our AC unit and water heater replaced by their team. Upfront costs might seem high, but its smart decision in my opinion and cheaper in the long run.

Nowadays, you don't have service folks actually spend time to listen to you and have a honest discussion around options, putting together a plan.

We are VERY pleased with our service. A technician was able to advise us on the proper methods needed to bring our old well pit to current code in addition to repairs needed. The coordination needed to complete this job was extensive. In two days our well was updated to county standards. The employees made certain the grounds around the work area were clean, tidy and all debris removed. Outstanding service.

Ronnie has performed the semi annual service at my home for some time now and I couldn t be happier with his work. He is thorough, knowledgeable and helpful.
Other workers have done different types of work, including installing a new a/c and furnace, and the work was performed very, very well.

They were nice enough on the phone at first but it became clear they wanted to pad the bill. They are for people who don't have a clue about how things work or how to fix them. I would get second opinion before agreeing to any service from them. I ended up buying the part I needed from Walmart and had my system up and running within 15 mins.

Had a very professional and quick response with plumber Dale sent to manage a leak from a recently installed washing machine. Dale fixed it, analyzed the problem for us, and was very helpful to us.

I have been an HSA (Home Savings Agreement) member for several years - best thing I have done! I recently worked with "WT Settle" to determine a course of action to remedy a serious water problem. "WT" was very courteous, friendly, and of course most professional and knowledgeable. He clearly explained all options available to remedy the water issue. I needed a new water heater and a new water treatment system. Although the total estimated cost was high, I was able to secure financing through Appleton Campbell at 0% for 36 months! The repair was now very affordable. Wonderful! "WT" set up the install for the very next day - WOW! What great service! I next had the pleasure to work with two outstanding Appleton Campbell installers, "Chad Harrabass" and "Danny Shoop III." These individuals were truly exceptional in all respects. They were friendly, courteous, very respectful, and importantly, very knowledgeable and professional. They answered all questions I had regarding the install of the new water heater and water treatment system and were very careful not to inflict damage in the area that they were working in. During installation, it was found that my sump pump was not working so we worked out a solution for that problem. I was shown the HSA price (very reasonable) and was told that they could install the item along with the water heater and water treatment system in one day. Mission accomplished! Chad and Danny were very efficient while being very careful. Following installation, I was provided detailed information about all hardware installed. Before they left, they cleaned up the basement well. WT, Chad and Danny are fine examples of the high quality technical professionals Appleton Campbell employs. I am very pleased with the install and will continue to use Appleton Campbell as my primary source for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work!

Glenn came to my home short notice to repair alarm wires. It was expected that he would need to locate one wire, but he actually searched and found two needed to be repaired. His easy going, professional, and funny demeanor lighten a stressful time. I am grateful to Glenn (he's a gem) and the Appleton Campbell team for responding so quickly and doing an awesome job. We hired appleton campbell to fix our AC system about a week ago. We had an issue with the AC automatically shifting to heat, after the technician checked it out and resolved it it was good. He told us that if the problem rose again that he will come and fix it (assuming it was free of charge). NOT really free tho, same problem he was supposed to fix happened again. We call the technician and let him know, gave us a window of 3 hours, arrives15 minutes to the end of the window. Goes and checks on the AC system, does a temporary fix that WE HAVE ALREADY been doing. And asks to be paid in full. AGAIN. Gives us attitude that he had spent more time than what he anticipated when he arrived late. We tried talking to him and explaining the situation, he refuses to look at the AC any further and says he won t leave without getting paid. The audacity, the unprofessionalism is appalling!! Horrible service. My AC is still not working and they have charged me almost $1000.

*FIVE+ STARS* While this has been a very expensive week for necessary home maintenance, we cannot express our gratitude for all four Appleton-Campbell service technicians whose services we required this week. HVAC Tech Chris Smith and Plumbers WT Settle and Jason Knight (and apprentice Nick) were all prompt, efficient, and polite beyond anyone in recent memory. They were all very knowledgeable about their particular specialties, were mindful of our home, tidy, and conveyed confidence in both the products and workmanship. In an era when the concept of good old fashioned customer service is a rarity, we have been very pleasantly surprised by the exceptional workmanship and courteous, respectful, friendly service of these four gentlemen of Appleton-Campbell. A-C is now permanently in my Contacts list and will be heartily recommended to anyone who asks.

Dispatch quoted $89 emergency fee, which was more than reasonable. Technician Ronnie arrives with a really bad attitude and tells me it's $89 plus $129 service fee which dispatch didn't mention. Technician was extremely rude and condescending; said dispatch reads from a script and implied I was lying. When I told him I didn't feel good about how this was going, he raised his voice and said "I risked my life to get here." I asked him to leave my house because I was uncomfortable with the service I was being provided.

Appleton Campbell recently repaired an underground water leak for me, by the replacing of several yards our water line. It turned out to be a very complex repair, with the leak being difficult to locate, and the repair requiring the moving of our outdoor HVAC unit, extensive hand digging of trenches, and cutting holes in the interior dry wall. Every step of the process was thoroughly explained to me before it was taken, and was carried out with precision, professionalism and conscientiousness. Several unexpected discoveries were quickly met with thoughtful and effective solutions. The cleanup process was as efficient as the repair process, to even include the laying down of grass seed where the digging disrupted it. I cannot recommend this company enough! The crew of Johnny, Tim, Hagy, Crockett, Shane Ethan and Mike Loy deserve special recognition, and were exemplary representatives of this company!

Our AC inspection went very well. Chris our technician was polite and professional.

Kenny provided excellent diagnosis of my problems and completed the tasks as requested. All problems resolve. He was very professional and his expertise is exceptional. I feel the price was a bit steep however.

We have been using Appleton Campbell for several years now for our cooling, heating, and hot water needs. The firm is absolutely top notch. Appointments are made quickly, they call before sending out technicians who arrive within the time window specified, and the work they do is of high quality. They are our go-to team of choice.

Too expensive. I was quoted $1466. for a job that has an average cost of $400.00. Called a different company same day and went with them. It cost me $375.00 for same job! Won't be calling them again.

Red flags - Would NOT provide a written estimate for a single gas furnace replacement. Verbal estimate was for $6,700 and the technician (true to prior reviews) pushed hard sale with "managers special" "one time offer" and "special pricing" only if I signed a contract immediately. 2 other estimates from class A heating/cooling contractors were from $4,500 - $5,100 and I made sure it was for the exact same work. I don't like pushy salesman and excessive prices. I looked through dozens of past reviews and see that this is a common past practice practice (ie replacing 2 GFCI outlets for 700 bucks) and its just plain greedy and shady. The Carrier Infinity furnace sells for $1,700. 5 grand for installation/labor is what they wanted if I signed immediately without a written proposal. Do not be a chump.

I had heard that Appleton-Campbell was expensive. However, the old adage of you get what you pay for holds true. The company is always prompt, courteous, and thorough. Another service person on another job stopped to look over at our furnace boiler serving three zones in our old house (oil/hot water system) and commented that he had never seen such quality work. When I mentioned that it was done by A-C, he said, "Well that explains it. They are the best." When things are done right the first time, it cuts down on service calls in the future to continue to fix the same problem.

What haven't I had Appleton Campbell do?! It all started with replacing 2 existing heat pumps and two corresponding air handling units back in 2015. Tech's Mike W. and Danny R. did such a FANTASTIC job that I had Appleton Campbell replace 2 50-gallon electric hot water heaters AND install a new submersible electric well pump (Michael). I even had them install a manual well pump on top of the well head casing while they were at it. In all the work that I've had Appleton Campbell perform, I have ALWAYS been pleased with the professionalism of their staff!!! Everyone from the front office (Renee Davis makes me feel like her only customer) to schedule service or repair, to the technicians themselves. World Class service through-and-through. And no, I don't work for them :-)

**Update**
Had my HVAC ducts cleaned last month by a third-party company (Nov. 2018) and the access holes that were cut for the cleaning were incorrectly sealed. Appleton Campbell sent a tech out the NEXT DAY to repair the work that another company incorrectly performed. The sheet metal work was flawless!!!
I remain a VERY happy Appleton Campbell customer.

Dateline: March, 2021: My entire electrical/circuit breaker panel was arcing and creating a fire hazard thanks to water damage and a previous contractor's having incorrectly linked wiring. I knew nothing about it until I had an electrical inspection under the maintenance agreement I had signed with Appleton Campbell during the previous incidents in 2020. Glenn Griffin did a thorough inspection and discovered this primary issue. The company scheduled the first available appointment (having to coordinate with the county for permits and the electric company to turn off and on electricity to my home). Shane and Eulises were the master technicians who arrived at the very beginning of the appointment window and spent the entire day removing the old and replacing the new. I could not be happier with their work. Both inside and outside, it actually was "pretty." This was a day-long job. They worked constantly and did a truly masterful job, as well as being "good people." 5 STARS

Dateline: 8-5-20 Both my 29 y/o water pump and water heater must be replaced at an estimated cost of over $13,000. The sump pump also should be replaced, but I can't take on that additional debt after having had to replace my vehicle plus all the other enormous expenses that have hit me in the last months, including when a tree fell on my house plus the aftermath of a previous basement flood.

On that Wednesday, the household well water pump died without warning! Sob! The good news is that (via a Google search), I found Appleton-Campbell, based in Warrenton, VA. Of course, my emergency happened 15 minutes before their closing time, but they sent out a diagnostician, as a priority call, for a mere $29, and he was here from roughly 6 - 9 pm.

I live on a mountain. He had to trek up the rutted and rocky slope to find the water pump housing amidst weeds, overgrown brush, and fallen trees. My memory of its location was faulty, and he couldn't find it. So, of course, I then trekked up there with him and finally found the housing so he could do his tests. He almost got electrocuted by a ragged wire! His name is Chad Hannabass, and he was deliciously efficient, nice, and seemingly unhurried as he attended to my situation with careful explanations in a calm, knowledgeable way even as night fell. Appleton-Campbell is contracted with GreenSky, and Chad handled the loan application on the spot.

Appleton Campbell was booked and couldn t come back to replace the pump, wiring (and a water heater) until Friday, so I had no water for the toilet, shower, drinking, etc. However, the company sent a driver early Thursday morning a couple of gallons of Primo spring water. (They even have an online tracker to show you where the driver is on the way to your location.)

The crew that did the installation was efficient, friendly and polite, and clearly well-trained down to the last detail of turning off lights where they had worked and turning on water faucets to ensure everything was working properly before they left. They were so quiet that I was undisturbed the whole time they were here while I was working on a computer.

Two wonderful things happened in terms of price reductions.

I purchased a plumbing/electrical maintenance contract from Appleton-Campbell since they seem so professional and reliable, based on my experience and that of those who have done reviews. That resulted in a $1,700 reduction in price, which would have been closer to $15,000.

When the crew installed the water system and a new water heater, the price dropped about $4,000, because Chad had estimated the cost based on worst case scenario, but the actual project was much easier than anticipated. Instead of ripping me off for the difference, as some companies would have done, the crew manager told me before he left, and GreenSky has reduced the loan amount and monthly payment due schedule accordingly.

In summary, I highly recommend Appleton-Campbell, in terms of staff, policies, procedures, and price. I am grateful for their assistance.

This highly organized team of professionals came into our home and in two days, removed a furnace, air conditioner and hot water tank then replaced all the above with new and greatly improved products. All of this could not of been without the wonderful and efficient care of their office team: Renee and Renee. I would highly recommend this company to everyone.

This company has great customer service, fast response time and technicians that are thorough and communicate well. Bill Dooly, one of their senior technicians did our summer HVAC service and discovered a wiring problem with our system that dates back 8 years to a mistake with the installation by another company. There is no substitute for experienced technicians. Their prices are at the high end for the area for repairs however.

We have had them out for several issues over the years and they have always done a tremendous job. Always fast and courteous.

Furnace work, water pressure tank replacement, and most recently A/C replaced. Matthew M did an excellent job showing us the options, and Paul and Reid did a fantastic job on a difficult install. They were all exceedingly professional.

WT and Tyler came today for contract plumbing and AC maintenance check up. We received a call prior to their arrival and they arrived exactly on time. Both guys got right to work and everything was completed within 2 hours. WT had suggestions for a plumbing concern and gave three options of action. Tyler took care of the AC and reported coils needed cleaning and proceeded to complete that task.

I ve had two of their techs out to my house in the past few days. Tim came to fix my hot water heater, and took the time to explain the system to me while he was working. Before he left, I mentioned some HVAC concerns to him, and he left a note in the visit report for an HVAC tech to contact me. The company had Ronnie come out two days later, and Ronnie walked me through some issues with my system I didn t know existed, and gave me a detailed quote on how to address all of my concerns. Very impressed with the company as a whole.
