They only send nasty bills to me....never monthly cant pay them wont answer phone...called SEVEN times on hold for average of eight minutes...poor

Dont expect to get picked up. They can't even keep enough trucks and employees to handle the job.

If you like your trash to be picked up at different times of the day and your trash cans left right in the middle of the road, this is the company for you! They also love to leave your trash lids open so if it s raining or snowing you get a nice buildup.

Can't log on to the website to pay the bill cuz when u try to register and get the email to start your account it says your not registered. Not to mention they decide when they want to pick up ur trash and when they don't even if you pay the bill!

Worst service ever. The driver literally picked up my neighbors recycling & left mine. Talk about not paying attention to details.

I would give then 0 stars if I could have . Terrible service. I m switching service. They charge you but do not pu your garbage. Bad business.

A huge shoutout to Lauren in the customer service department. I am the only house on my street which is in a new construction community. Every step of the way she made sure that my trash got picked up. Her willingness to provide me with friendly, courteous customer service is quite refreshing. Thank you Lauren!

Thieves! If you don't pay your bill on time, late fees are assessed. I get that, but if they don't pick up your trash you still have to pay. I asked the customer service representative why I get charged if I'm out of town and there is nothing for them to pick up. She replied that it is because they get charged by weight to dump the trash. But if they're not picking anything up at my house, why should I be charged?

Save yourself some money and take your trash to the dump yourself.

They were supposed to deliver my recycling container on a Thur with my first pickup Fri. That was good considering I just moved and had a ton of recycling. Got a nice phone call saying the bin wouldn't be delivered until sat due to a vehicle break down. I filled then bin and called to request a pickup since the delay was their fault. Customer support told me no because a truck will not be in my area for 2 weeks and that I should have put my recycling along the road in a clear plastic bag. I was never informed of this as a new customer so how was I to know. My first pickup was my last!!

I am a former customer. Wait until you read why. Several years ago, my trash wasn't picked up and I called the company. After checking, the woman said that it wasn't picked up b/c there was trash not mine at the pick-up. I checked and found a small, kitchen garbage bags with several cat cans and paper in it. I called the company again and told the lady what I found and explained that the pick-up site was at the top of my road, not at my house, and that I had no way to monitor who placed what there. She was not at all sympathetic or understanding but stuck to her guns that there would be no pickup. So, I cancelled service. Not a good business move on their part at all.

The company is very good about communicating when pick up days are changed for holidays. Otherwise they always pick up on time except for severe weather, and then it is picked up soon afterward. They also do not abuse my trash cans and leave them standing where I put them.

They won't notify you if they're unable to pick up trash because of snowfall, which means you'll wait until the next week for trash pick up. They will not remove any loose trash in the 90 gallon Apple Valley Waste garbage can they provide you, instead they will let it sit or in my case, scatter it all over the road.

Worst trash service I've ever dealt with. They leave the lids open so they trash can gets filled with water. They leave the cans out in the street blocking traffic. They spill trash all over the neighborhood and won't pick it up.

These guys just can't do their simple job. Please hire some people who take pride in their job. STOP LEAVING THE TRASH CANS IN THE STREET!

Repeatedly unable to get them on the phone, they perpetually screw up the direct regular billing on the service account that I have, and the telephone staff are perpetually clueless and can't give a straight or correct answer. Their website is also down constantly, and the entire organization is amateur hour on the business end of things.

We only have recycling service through them, but they seem to be fairly decent.

I scheduled a bulk pickup over two weeks ago. The bulk items are still sitting out there. They picked up neighbors bulk items but left mine. Ladies are nice when I call but cannot help me. I pay for a service and it is not being honored. I do not know what else to do to make them do their job.

**Update** They finally picked up my bulk items September 30th!

Worst service imaginable. Never picked up on time and are currently 3 weeks overdue. We called 8 times and still no pick up

They say to place the recycling at the curb by 6am. The recycling guy comes flying down our road around 4am and more frequently than not, doesn't pick up our recycling even though we put it out the night before. When I call to ask them to come back to pick it up, they argue with me that he has a certain time frame to pick it up in even though I know he came through because he woke me up at 4am! That "time frame" ends when their phones roll over, so you can't call to complain. If I do call them a few hours earlier, they say that the drivers have already met their hourly limits "per the law". Know what else is against the law? Charging for services that aren't provided.

When I call them to complain about the lack of services we receive, which seems to be the case at least every other month for weeks in a row, I always have the same question. Where else am I asked to pay for services that I DO NOT RECEIVE? None of the other bills I pay each month require me to call and tell someone how to do their job when they fail to do it on their own. So ridiculous. I have to agree with the other reviewer - just take it yourself. In the end, you will save time, energy, and money.

"We'll take your money, but not your trash" should be their company motto. I constantly get skipped and then get told I must have put my trash out late in the morning after the trucks come. Look...I been using this company for a few years now and I know to put my trash out the night before because they come early in the morning. Don't keep telling me it's my fault that my trash does not get picked up.

Never have had an issue with pickups, on time every week.

Surprised to see a number of negative reviews, as we've had nothing but exceptional service! The guys on the route have been amazing and do a fantastic job... can you image what it must be like on a hot summer day? Whew! My experience with customer service has also been very good - they are knowledgable, respectful and patient. I do wish we didn't have to pay extra to recycle, and I wish recycling was mandatory, but otherwise - thumbs up from me!

They usually don't take all my trash. They pick through it and only take some of it.

This company is impossible! If I could give fewer stars, I would. My trash and recycling are almost never picked up as scheduled. I have to call to make special arrangements almost every week. It takes forever on the phone to get through to customer service. If I had any other option for trash removal, I would definitely switch.

Recycle Bin I received was much larger than expected. Have tried four times to get them to come and pick it up and take it back. Each time I set it out for pick up on agreed-to day and they never showed. Came home from work each time to find it still sitting out at the curb. Incompetent to say the least.
I m sure neighbors are like, What s going on there? Don t they know when pickup is? Embarrassing.
Our streets just got new pavement and now their truck poops droppings disgusting of garbage when it stops in front of each house. Looks like someone pulled over to vomit. What s wrong with these people and their equipment.

I am very happy with the service and the price. They have been very good to deal with and have been very reliable to date. It's great working with a local business.

We closed on our home Mar 15, 2019 and moved into our home on April 1st. It is now May 8th and still no trash can. Our HOA fees pay for this and yet they could care less. Even when asked to put a rush on it due to circumstances, they still claimed it couldn't be done. Ridiculous Apple Valley. Unbelievable. And yes, my full name is on this post. The service is just unacceptable.

Never had a problem. Missed once but when I called they sent a truck over to pick up the trash.

The service itself it fine other than for some reason they won't take glass even though they have a contract with the county to handle the recycling, including glass and the county allows commingling. Maybe they changed that, but if they did, they never notified customers. I still pay the county $36 a year to drop off my own glass because Apple Valley Waste said they wouldn't pick it up to recycle and I pay 12 per quarter for them to take my recycling.

My real issue is that they have started sending bills out with new terms of net 10 days to pay, but then they don't mail the bill until 5 days before its due. I checked the postal stamp, the invoice was created on July 31, mailed on Aug 5, and payment was due August 10th. So factoring in 2-3 days for the post office to deliver it, that's 2 days to submit payment. And factoring in how slow the mail is being processed right now, it could show up even later which means I have one day to pay or maybe it's already late.

Apple Valley Waste should be providing 30 days to pay bills which in my view is standard practice for businesses, 10 days is unacceptable.

I have used this company for 2 years with so many instances of them not carrying out the service we pay for. They have skipped their day to pick up trash/recycling more times than I can count, and in order for them to come out and remedy it, we have to consistently threaten them with the Federal Business Bureau. Many of my
neighbors have switched to Panhandle, and I ll be doing the same. Thanks for hanging up on me, when your company yet again failed to carry out its service. If there s one thing this company can be counted on for, it s letting you down and then playing the victim because you require them to do their job.

Poor customer service. Non responsive to simple requests associated with covered services like large item pick up, service modification, and anything short of getting their money. Promptly swtiching to Panhandle Dumpsters for higher quality customer care and pick up that more accurately reflects my needs.

Recycling has been great. They take it all and no issues. The trash is a problem. The collector will not lift the containers so he reaches in and removes only that which is in a bag. If you put in a piece of styrofoam or a empty cup and it's not in a bag, he will not take it. So basically you have to gift wrap your trash for them.

They tell you yard waste is free pick up, but then they make you pay for (likely non-biodegradable) stickers to put on bags that you have to buy. What a joke. Waste Management picks up yard waste for free and w/o having to buy special bags.

The office people are great-every time I've called they've been curteous and professional. My only complaint that is that they don't inform you if there's going to be a delay in pickup. The field people are not so great. Our garbage is routinely skipped (yes, we pay our bill on time). They reclaimed our can because new customer demand was too high and there weren't enough cans to accommodate. I happened to be home one day when they were running behind and one of the pickup guys parked his personal vehicle in my yard (not joking) and ran around shirtless chucking garbage into the truck. I'm not impressed with these guys and will likely start shopping around after I find out why my garbage hasn't been picked up this time.

Apple Valley is an excellent service & has been for the six plus years we have used them here in Berkley County. Especially in these difficult times for everyone ( pandemic), their employees do an admirable job in what is a very diificult enviornment. They are always on time, unless prevented by natural disasters, take care in placing the receptacles back, and whenever we have called for special pickups the office staff are very pleasant & responsive. Having used waste service providers for over 40 years, in New York, New Jersey, South Carolina & Florida , Apple Valley is by far a more professional and reasonable company to deal with compared to other providers. Perhaps the reason for some of the negative comments is that the end users haven't done business with other waste disposal providers!

They leave trash in your can. I'm going to switch to panhandle

Drivers of the trucks race down small wooded roads. Hit my wife's car last week, almost hit my car today parked at a bus stop. Driver flew up the road going way over the speed limit on a road where kids are running around playing before getting picked up by the bus. Truck 303. Same truck that hit my wife's car. After apologizing to both of us and taking ownership of the accident, they decide to outright lie to the police and say my wife hit them. We have pictures and video evidence! Her car was stopped on the side and they're the ones moving. You will not be getting any more of my business nor any of my families business.

Their staff is snotty and unhelpful. I paid $350 for a 15 yard dumpster and a couple of weeks later received a $50 fuel charge and a $250 over weight charge. Their billing system is incredibly confusing and they don't know how to explain it themselves.

Hit or miss in Martinsburg Ive never had a problem with them not picking up my trash however depending on the crew you are stuck with some of them will toss garbage bags in the truck and if trash falls out all over the street they wont pick it up Ive seen plastic bottles fall out of neighboring garbage cans and fall at their feet and they just ignore it and move on leaving the homeowner to go do their jobs on the flipside Ive had some crews who are on point each and every day right on time and excellent service so you never know. But pay your bill and they'll pick up your trash pretty simple

They skip an entire week of pick up for Christmas and new years while everyone's trash sits on the block and they get paid. Also the customer service just can't get much worse.

If I could put zero stars I would. Called today to cancel our service after 3 weeks of them refusing to pick up a small crib mattress. Customer service is rude and snarky on the phone. Their trash men drive around with trash streaming out the back of the truck and if you complain about it on Facebook the actual trash collectors will get nasty and start name calling. So unprofessional and not worth the extra money. Open the phone book and find someone else you ll be glad you did. They think they have a monopoly in the area and can do as they please, I think it s time to show them that is not the case.

Service ok , prices keep changing and I pay for recycling if I sit cardboard boxes by my can to be recycled pick them up don't throw them in the trash . Really getting tired picking up trash out the yard if you can't take something for recycling that fine please place in the trash can not the middle the drive way or my yard it ridiculous . Would not recommend..

We had the same two men for quite awhile. They always smiles and waves at anyone they see. Best is they always stand the barrels up and put the kids on. Not only that they pick up all the trash that may of fallen on he ground or an animal git to it.

Used AVW for just under 4 months. Had trash/recycling missed on several occasions. Their excuse was usually that they had a "new driver." When there are cheaper services available in the area, that is unacceptable. No longer with them. Seems like there is a major disconnect between management and their drivers.

I have only had one problem with them that I can think of and I have been a paying customer for years. A few weeks back they missed picking up trash on our street. I called it in the receptionist was nice and they picked it up the next day. Nevertheless God bless our trash men as they work a smelly nasty job during all kinds of weather not to mention the dangers they face everyday with traffic picking up everyone garbage.

Unfortunately we have no other trash service in our area so we are stuck with Apple Valley. They pick up at varies times and then for unknown reasons they will miss a week. However when they miss it's not like they add a week on billing. So being that money was paid and no service received I call that being ripped off. They leave recycling all over the place too. And they love to throw trash cans. Being about 100 pounds myself I have a hard time lifting up the huge red container to put it back upright.

Very disappointed and unhappy with recycling service...while convenient and earth friendly...leaves a lot to be desired on very blustery days when the can tips over and all contents are strewn throughout our neighborhood, and the adjoining properties. It would have been nice to know in ADVANCE that we are allowed to use CLEAR bags to contain the recycling items THIS VERY VALUABLE INFORMATION WAS NOT told to us upon signing up for the service, and was not in the recycling brochure. But we have to pay for the bags...what kind of non-service is this?! How about coming up with a trash can lid design that stays closed!!
Other then having to retrieve recyclables in very thorny areas of properties--most all other service has been very good for the past 7 yrs. They pick up for the most part when they are supposed to...(sometimes they miss the can, sometimes they don't pick up things that fall out of can) generous bulk item policy

Driver goes through streets way to fast. Hits a kid and I guess he'll learn.

Weekly pick-up is usually consistent, but randomly and not always related to weather, they do not pick-up until 2-3 days later and sometimes it's not until the next week.

Eh - Someone stole my recycle bin. They want $20 to deliver a new one or I have to come into the office to come pick it up. Whatever falls out of the trash or recycle bin when they throw it into the truck gets left on the ground. Have also experienced "too bad" when they miss my trash pickup.

As I rode through our neighborhood last night, there were many neighbors setting out heavy, bulky items in their trash. Today, everything has been picked up...even things I had no idea you could put in weekly trash pickup. Those guys work hard! Thanks guys!

Bad people. Say it will be picked up later today and it is not. Next day say it will be picked up and it is NOT. Take the money early, don't keep their word and keep lying on the phone about when they will keep their agreement. ALL OF THEIR BIZ problems gets passed on to the customer to pick up the tab. Just not honest.

Hi guys. I'm a helper for Apple valley and I get your concerns. But here are some of mine. A. I risk my life every day so I can put food on my table. B. If it's heavy for u guy's to take a can down to the curb imagine how it is for me.for the people with the good comments we appreciate it more than u know. And for the other people..put your trash out night u won't be missed.

Arrived for delivery place got relocated no one gave information about it .
No phone for shipping office it is vary un organized place .

Service was fine. However, we moved so I terminated the service early after paying the quarterly bill. Six months later and I still haven't received the refund after I was told I'd get it.

They suck, they are lazy and can't do the job from week to week

Not worth the money, go elsewhere. Over the past few years they've taken less and less items, and when asked about it, they gave no help.

Garbage truck left hydraulic spill in front of house they did not come back to clean it up said it wasn't them until I showed him the video of them doing it then they came and made a bigger mess than they did and they still won't come clean it up they

All the guys at Apple Valley have been wonderful. They welcomed my students on a class field trip to the facility and it was incredible. Even the chaperones learned a great deal. They are genuinely concerned about environment, are ahead of the market and partnering up with Italian-technology at Entsorga which takes waste, dries it, and then uses the dried waste to fuel concrete facilities, the only facility of its kind in North America, right here in West VA. They have done a great job in Boonsboro with our trash and recycling for 4 years now, too. This has been my experience.

great company !!!! customer service is professional and very friendly. These guys work very hard. I know it can be hard sometimes to see BLACK trash bags in the dark. Mistakes are made we are all human. I say give a round of applause and a big thank you to the guys who do very hard work. Lifting those heavy SMELLY bags can't be easy

I worked for them almost 3 months ago an I still haven't got a pay check yet....These ppl do not care about their ppl an are only worried about the ppl that set at the desks. I have spoke to them on the phone for the 5th or 6 time in a 3 month period an they haven't did anything to help or solve my problem or get me my money

the worst I ever seen, through a gallon of paint in front of my driveway and then left it there, I was supposed to pay $90 for 3 months service I gave them $100 they never sent me a bill they never sent me an e-mail nothing and without any notification on a Friday a stopped picking up the trash, keep in mind that they're closed Saturday and Sunday and I would not get my trash picked up again until following Friday........

They are only getting two stars because the trash guys are thorough, polite, and always come on the scheduled day. Other than that, this company is TERRIBLE. In the past 8 months they have neglected to pick up our recycling more than they have actually picked it up! We call at least once a month to get our recycling picked up because they don't show up on the day they are supposed to. They did not pick up our recycling last week, so I called and was told they would come Tuesday or Wednesday. They never showed so we figured they would just come on the regular day this week. WE WERE WRONG. They didn't show up AGAIN. I am so done with this company's recycling program. I guess I am going to just send everything to the landfill because I don't have the time or the means to go 40 minutes out of my way to drop off recycling all because this company can't perform this service.

Pick up late by 3 days last week, looks like we are skipped for this week...but I'm sure we won't see a credit or anything for our bill. I'll keep the trash container at the curb and just wait every week.

Great service and the customer reps are always very friendly and helpful. I have never had an issue with trash pick up.

I think they are great. The office staff are wonderful to work with and they people who pick up the trash and recycling are also nice to work with. I've been a customer for several years and have been very satisfied.

Moved here 4 yrs ago. Loved the services. They sent out stickers to put on you trash. No sticker($$) no pickup. Stopped the stickers and now freeloaders are dumping their trash! Called AVW and there is nothing they can do about it?? Bring back the damn stickers!

Lazy bunch takes the money but dont do their job! Dont even show up some times my wife called them and they said we will get it next week, so next week comes and they get half of the bags.

They have been great for the last 7 years. They offer two bulk pick ups a month, which is absolutely wonderful. They usually take just about everything I put out. Very reliable and affordable.

I have been a customer since 1990, but as of June 30, 2019, I will no longer be among those who subscribe to their service. I had placed items neatly at curbside, and they only picked up what they wanted, and left the rest at curbside. Changed their policy regarding metals, but told no one about it. Said I needed a "bulk pickup" when I disassembled a large item into smaller pieces for them. Called the office and spoke with a gal with limited experience, so I don't hold her ignorance of my issue at fault. However, when a "supervisor" called me back, she didn't know much either and wouldn't hear me out. When I told her I was cancelling service, she couldn't have cared less. Bye Apple Valley! Unfortunately for you, I'm in a position to recommend trash companies for folks who move to the area and I would be hard-pressed to recommend you.

They have missed our whole entire subdivision twice in the last month. When I called I was told that since it was Friday (which is our trash pick up day) that a truck would be out Monday to retrieve our trash.

Nothing like being woke up at 430am to them picking trash up on the weekend after just falling asleep after getting off work. Thanks again

They have never missed a day picking up for us except in bad weather which everyone should understand. If we have large items I call ahead and tell them what day and they take care of it.

They are consistent with pickups, but you need to make sure everything in the can is bagged.

We were Apple Valley Waste customers for 2 1/2 years when we lived in the WV Panhandle. During our time there, the company was adequate in terms of waste disposal. Since we've moved (over 2 1/2 months ago), I have been losing my mind trying to get a refund for our months of unused service. I have been promised by three different people that the refund is processing and will given but it has yet to materialize. It's very frustrating and speaks to their lack of customer service and organization as a company. We also had an issue with them depositing someone else's payment into our account though no one could really explain why that happened (other than their check NUMBER might have matched our account number????). Highly unprofessional. I can't wait for my issue to be resolved so I don't have to deal with this company again.

They constantly leave our trash, we have had to call two weeks in a row because they pick u everyone else's trash in the neighborhood but not ours, EVEN though its LITERALLY right next to our neighbors trash. Then they schedule it for the next day, and of coursed they still don't come so we have to call AGAIN. And then they say they will schedule for the next day (Wednesday ) and FINALLY after 4 different calls do they come. But then of course you gotta worry about the next week smh! You should be charging a lot less if you aren't going to provide a service or nothing at all since the service has to be fought for!

We switched service to a new address and are still waiting for a new trash can after a couple of weeks. We already received a new bill that includes the time right now when we have no trash service. We contacted AVW and they said they are still waiting for a shipment of containers and that we need to pay our bill. Absolutely ridiculous that we have pay for service when we have not had our trash picked up because they can't get us a can. This business does not care about its customers

We have had great service, the two men who collect our trash in Williamsport are running. The driver is getting out of the truck to help empty cans and runs to move the truck. What more can you ask for? I only pay my bill by phone, customer service has always been excellent. We have been customers for 3 years and have never had a problem.

Trash due to snow on 11/15 delayed instead of 1 day delay. Now 8 day delay pickup. Now on 11/23. If I delayed my payment because of snow I m not given any grace period. Total bs

The receptionists are the only reason I'm giving this place any stars what so ever. The people who pick up the trash are absolutely incompetent. They've not only "forgot" to pick up my trash on several occasions but when I schedule a large pick up they only pick up half of it! I can't tell you how many times I've had to call to have some one come back out. If there is trash sitting at the end of my driveway any half intelligent person should know IT IS MEANT TO BE PICKED UP. I wish I had a different company to choose from because this is absolutely ridiculous.

I have been with this company 12 weeks now and out of those twelve weeks my trash has been picked up once without me having to call and complain, and the customer service presented by Cheryl out of Charles town office is terrible she today has provided me with three different lies was completely rude the entire time and was willing to just cancel the account instead of fixing the problem. Would not recommend to anyone

I am not shy about speaking up when I am unhappy with service I have received. But these folks have gone above and beyond for me on more than one occasion. I can only speak to my own experience, but that experience has been excellent.

Apple Valley Waste has wonderful customer service, trash pick up, and bulk trash pick up services. We ve had their service for years and we have never experienced any problems.

for the taxes paid in this county this should be included for EVERYONE!! you make signs and say cameras are watching?! liars AND a waste of propaganda! We have lived in several cities and small towns over the years. This is the WORST garbage service we have EVER had. Seems like every month I am calling the company "trash was not picked up, again". I was told the people who pick up trash confirmed it had been picked up.
Do they have employees not doing job and then lie abouy it??

Terrible service! They keep on "fogetting" to pick up our recycle bin.
