Apple Valley Waste Review

My trash guy doesn t take my trash. He picks through it and puts back what he doesn t want to put in his truck. Has happened multiple times. Have called and no resolution after months of calling. He needs to be fired.

Inconsistent pick ups, rude customer service and they change the scheduled pick up day without informing us.

That are a hit and miss kind of company. You put your recycling out for them the night before and basically cross your fingers it will be gone the next day.

The worst service you can get for a price that's too much to pay. They never notify their customers of changes to their schedule. They never stick to a consistent time each week. They don't pick up everything. They leave a mess of trash on the street. I'm surprised a company this horrible is still in operation. Unsatisfied since we got the service years ago.

Bottom line up front is that Apple Valley Waste (AVW) provides an excellent service for the relatively low cost of their collections (garbage and recycling). The garbage/trash bin is extra large (~50 gal) and on wheels. I have two recycling bins which handles an average weeks worth of recyclable waste for our household. That said I have left a small mountain of broken down cardboard boxes post Christmas and AVW took it all away. The driver of the recycling truck that services my area is so good I have witnessed him pick up recyclables that have flown out of the box and into my yard. Obviously I should have put something heavier on top to prevent such a situation. I had no expectation that the driver chase down these loose items in the early morning hours around dawn. But he did; even without knowing that anyone was watching him do so. For this exceptional service I rate AVW 5 stars.

Worst trash company I've ever had (over 24 years). We've only been customers for about 3 months and they routinely fail to pick up on the scheduled day. I don't think I should have to call every week to report the problem and request that they come pick up (pretty please will you do what I've paid you for). Then today when I called in the middle of the day on a Thursday, a message says that they are closed and instructs me to call back during normal business hours. This IS normal business hours! Terrible service. I would not recommend this company.

Will they take your trash away? Yes, but the business needs better customer service. We are told to have recycling out before 6am, but pickup comes way earlier. They miss a pickup due to snow? You just gave apple valley money for no service. They will not give credits for days missed. I now take my trash to the transfer station myself. Too bad there's no other trash company around here. Maybe that's why Apple Valley Waste gets away with bad service.

Lost count of how many times our trash and recycling hasn't been picked up, but we still have to pay for the service.

I have had them almost 10 years! they always do a good job and take what I put out! prices are also fair.

will be dropping my service with them. they hardly take all my trash. pickup operators are lazy. going back to burning my trash.

The customer service representatives were nice but unfortunately my problem was not resolved. Our community has trash pick up on Wednesday s after the pick up I noticed piles of trash on multiple streets from where the truck had compacted and trash had fallen out. I contacted Apple Valley Waste on Thursday and was told I would get a call back. I didn t. I called again Friday and was told they would be right out to clean it up again nothing. It is now Monday I called again and this time was told I would have to wait until Wednesday for them to clean it up. We are a big community with a lot of children. There is glass, screws and other waste everywhere!! I will be switching to another company. I am also encouraging our whole community to do the same!

I have found the staff at Apple Valley to be curteous and very responsive to my requests. So far I am very happy with the service.

I am continuously impressed by the quality of the service of Apple Valley Waste. Their workers, who have one of the most difficult jobs you can think of, are virtually always efficient, polite, and on schedule. I also think the cost of this service is very fair.

Auto pay issues every other payment they pick up trash only when they feel like it absolute joke of a company. Reps always have different excuse for auto pay issues, save yourself the trouble take your trash and recycling to the dump yourself.

Save y'all's time and find another company. These cats leave trash strewn around everywhere and you'd be lucky if they pick up all your trash. The receptionist was nice, but whoever is in the trucks picking up the trash need to get it together. After these 3 months are up, we're switching companies.

It is so convenient to just put the garbage in the can and not have to worry about taking it to a dump.

The people who work in the office and in the field are great. Everyone is friendly, helpful and professional. The service is good too. The star is deducted for monopoly utility with no competitive price option.

The folks who collect the trash do a good job, not so much those who collect the recycling. If those who collect the recycling drop or spill something they just leave it on the ground and drive off instead of picking it up.

Terrible service, extra charges, pick up half the time

If your trash isn't in a bag an tide they will leave it there till you crawl in an get it. It's not hard to dump the whole can but if they can't reach in an pull it out, it stays. When you call to complain they make it your fault also. So don't clean out your car an throw an small bag in your bin! It will be there unto you cancel your service or you clean it. Please call someone else for your trash it will be less problem!

We've had Apple Valley Waste for many years and are very happy with our service. Their staff is always friendly whenever we call in for special pick up. Thanks for the great service!!

You're a bad company and suck at picking up trash/recycle on time im tires of having trash everywhere and recycle is even worse! Pick up the damn stuff or give me my darn money back and so it for free!!!! My recycling has been sitting out here for 2 weeks! And you want to tell me its not coming for another week..what a lame company!

We pay to have recycling picked up four times a month and are lucky if they do it twice. Repeated calls don t result in anything but empty promises. What s going on? Regular collection is great.

Yes I went for an interview a week ago and went for a drug test and I've been getting the run around on where my results are from the test they seemed like a decent place to work for but I'm starting to second guess that now cause here it is Thursday and I still haven't heard anything on what is going on with my drug test results

Every once in a while (It's only happened to us once,) they miss a pickup, but I just call the office, and they pick it up as soon as they're able. We've just canceled our service, because we're not generating enough waste to justify the cost. They were very nice.

I've always had good customer service from them, but I don't generate much trash/recycling, and I live minutes from the transfer station, where it's much less expensive to drop off my waste myself.

I've had terrible experiences over the years with AVW. While their prices are competitive for being the only option around, their service is awful. Their rules for bagging garbage are unreasonable and they won't take any trash unless all of it is bagged properly. On several occasions they have simply forgot to pick up my trash and were ambivalent about it.

Our trash is supposed to be picked up weekly. It was picked up twice in january and 3 times in february. The office will not refund our money for the missed pick ups and the rude office person has nothing but excuses.
The drivers are constantly driving through our yard and running over my flower beds even though there is ample room on the driveway for a tractor trailer. These people are truly the worst.

Won't come out for additional pick up without charging $15. It would be nice for a couple extra pick ups per year, or even once a year as a service. I only set out 1-3 bags of trash per week and pay as much as large households with a lot more trash every week. I have never asked them for an extra pickup before. Maybe it will be something for them to consider.

Bad service because they used to be the only game in town. I just switched to locally owned and operated Panhandle Dumpsters and saved 10% vs Apple Valley.

Apple Valley frequently fails to pick up. Awful service!

I get skipped constantly, have to call them to come back. I've never had this with a trash company before.

Very upset with the service . I always had my trash pick up on Monday when it wasn't picked up i call and was informed my trash has been get picked up on Wednesday since December. No its always been Monday. So for the past month. The truck goes past my house on Monday and doesn't stop and i end up talking to customer service and getting the brush off. When i asked to talk to someone else I'm told no one is able. What a way to run a business.

They suck. Never pick up my trash on time always have to call every time my trash is due because they dont pick it up. I'm taken my money somewhere else

They get two stars only because they remove our trash. However, we never know when or if they are going to get it. They never are early except on the week before a holiday so your overflowing trash can sits until the next week. If you put your trash out the previous night they don't get it until late in the afternoon or the next day. By that time the lid has blown open, it's fell over or animals have gotten into it and made a mess you are responsible for cleaning up. When they do get the trash they leave it sitting in the middle of the road or blocking my driveway. This means I have to park in the middle of the road leaving my two small children in the car until I can drag it out of the way. If you call customer service they just say they will pick it up next week and reimburse you. No I don't want the $2, I want my trash removed before the holiday so I don't have to store trash bags in my garage!

Update 4/18 Wednesday- Well I'm eating my words. After emailing with the new landlord it turns out that they tried to let me know about the changes to trash this week. Apple Valley is delivering our red cans now AND they are removing all the bags still sitting out there from yesterday. I pulled up and my can was there but my bags were already gone, all 5, and I asked a man putting out trash cans and he said they had taken it and apologized about the mix-up in trash can delivery date .I'll continue to update, but as of right now I feel like the employees are awesome!

We were just informed last week that due to a change in landlords we would now be getting trash pickup through Apple Valley Waste and trash would still be Tuesday's, to place the trash cans at the curbside every Tuesday (not Monday night) and we would get a trash can delivered Friday April 13th. We had a limit of 5 bags and with two teenagers and cats we often have 5 regular bags but not sure how to go about getting a second trash can. Regardless, our first can never arrived on Friday so I was surprised to see them show up, especially at 5:15am, and they had to have noticed that none of the 24 homes had their red cans out front, yet they picked up from two homes that had one bag of trash in their own cans with lids on it. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do besides put my 5 bags in my shed and by next week it will be 9 or 10 and still not sure if I'll have even one red can by then. I gave three stars because I'm not sure if this is my new landlords fault or Apple Valley and I WILL update this review accordingly. That said, they should have told us to put it out Monday night if AVW comes as early as 5am, and I'm positive they had to have realized none of us were expecting them when no one had the cans out. Maybe they'll return with cans and then again to get all the trash they missed. After reading other reviews, I won't hold my breath. I will update if they surprise me and make it right.

Good service for years. Pretty much knew I'd have to get the empty trash can out of the middle of the street every week.

Go with one of the other waste companys... This company is the worst out there, thats why they're rated so low.... Trust me on this...

I have been using AVW for 6 years and I have never had a serious problem. Whenever I have called customer service to handle a bulk item pickup they have always been very professional and friendly. My only complaint is that the recycling service is an additional $10/month, which is why I won't give 5 stars.

Unless the roads are impassable because of snow they've always come and taken the trash and recycling. I love the large item service, too. Very convenient and reasonably priced. Customer service has always been helpful and courteous.

I wouldn't trust them to do the right thing if I were you. I was going to work at 5:30 AM on I-695 when one of their trucks came into my lane and destroyed my driver side mirror. Then he drove away, refusing to stop when I flagged him down over a 5 minute period. Had pictures of the license plate and the driver. A $600 repair that they refuse to make good on because they say I am lying.

I thought republic was bad these guys are the worst.

I think the service is horrible. If I had the time I'd do it myself. As for the price, I don't mind what it cost just do the job that your paid for. I really enjoy picking my trash up after the wildlife tears it out because you didn't take it on time. I'm all for change, so if you can't make the service any better. Then see if it can get any worse. I seriously doubt it. But I will say that customer service does a good job dealing with all the unhappy customers..

I've been a customer for three months since July 2018 and they have missed at least three trash pick-ups and one or two recycle pick-ups. They failed to tell us when we signed up that you have the option of two different sizes of recycle cans. They automatically gave us the small one, which is almost worthless. When we found out about the larger one, we called and requested it. They said they would bring one to us and no showed twice. When we called the third time to find out the new delivery date, they told us they didn't have any available. Their service is unreliable at best and their customer service is sub-par. If I had another option, I would go with them. I don't recommend them. They are by far the worst trash and recycle service I have ever had in over 19 years of home ownership.

Well let s just start out with they have horrible customer service, they don t value their customers, they leave trash behind, skip picking up trash some weeks and I have to call several times before getting ahold of anyone. Very disappointed in their professionalism.

Just started recycle services. Good service, but unfortunately have to pay for the services. Collections are always on-time and workers NEVER leave debris behind. Hard workers! Nice customer service at Kearneysville, WV location.
