The Apple Farm is located at the north end of San Luis Obispo. I had Christmas lunch there. Even with reservations there was a wait. After I checked in they forgot about us, our table had been ready for at least 5 minutes (they acknowleged their mistake). Service was ok, but not great. The server forgot my son's food, both his meal and then again when we ordered a separate dessert. It was very pricey for their holiday meal, even though they had a set menu and everyone got the same sides.
Would give ZERO stars if possible. This place smells like a funeral home and has the worst customer service in the history of hotels. The manager was an incompetent oaf who laughed at our refund request, before calling the cops on my boyfriend when he went to return the key. Why did they call the cops on him? Because he had the audacity to ask them for a receipt. San Luis Obispo's tax dollars well spent. Save yourself the drive and lingering smell of disappointment.
Very personalized decor, feels very quaint, not like a sterile ultra modern hotel. Good for families and couples. Lots of little touches here and there to make you fall in love. Great restaurant too. Love the gift shop.
Love this place. Good for kids or just to get away from life. Free cookies, free coffee all day and night. Also free wine nightly, white or red as well as coupons for their restaurant
Ate at the restraunt. Excellent food, good service. But the gift shop was the best. Worth a trip, just for the gift shopping. Unique, quality items, cutely displayed. Even the porch, Is full of unique items. Loved it!
We had a wonderful time at usual when we stay at the Apple Farm. I do want to especially complement one of the waitresses. Her name is Natalia. I have special diet needs, and she went out of the way to help me and make me feel comfortable. She is friendly and efficient. My husband and I both liked her very much. Natalia is a keeper!
My wife and I recently had lunch here and the food was excellent! The waiters are all very well mannered and timely as well. The restaurant's atmosphere is very homey and their decorating is a delight to the eyes. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good food!
Service, food, and atmosphere all shone. We had the potato pancakes appetizer and chefs special of butternut squash on smoked gouda Alfredo sauce linguini with Swiss chard and Brussels sprouts. Nice selection of wines, beers (including several locals), and cocktails. Pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Very friendly staff.
I was very underwhelmed by this restaurant. Service was very slow, our waitress obviously didn't want to be at work, food was ok but overpriced for the quality. Even overheard a group of waitresses badmouthing customers in the middle of the gift shop. Don't think we will bother coming back.
Disappointed in this place. With a name like the apple farm, you'd think they would offer apple related items. Nope. I think this might be a place for grandparents. Sorry, not worth going back to..

Very bucolic and very flowery hotel Very pleasant welcome with a small glass of wine There is always something to eat and drink in the lobby Very pleasant room on the ground floor, well equipped One regret, the lack of a small terrace in the room for a drink
Small swimming pool for a dip No regrets, located in the middle of the Californian vineyard, I would have liked to find wine for sale and a choice of steak at the restaurant
I was there at the Halloween time last year. The decor and ambiance was so lovingly and with a heart set that it really made you instantly feel good. The food was adapted to the season and it was a great stay. The rooms were very lovingly decorated (fireplace). I have been here for the second time and recommend it to my best friends every time and everyone is thrilled. Come back guaranteed. Ps: A 1 star rating I can not understand and is totally foreign to me (I've seen the "whole world" and this motel is definitely one of the most pleasant places - and I'm in many 5 star hotels that simply do not offer such flair - Thank you Hr Pulpit
The location was very nice and family friendly. The service was quick and efficient. The waiters were very nice and the food was very good and natural.
I love this place! The Apple Farm will charm you with its decor, unique but traditional flavor, and friendly hospitality. It's beautifully decorated at Christmas time, the food is divine, and the gift shop is a must! Loved having the chance to visit again. Great memories remain.
Recently I had occasion to have breakfast at the Apple Farm. The meal was very good. But I was dismayed when I received my credit card billing and found that the tip had been increased from the time that I had paid and received my copy of the receipt.
Apple to make me is not just a hotel, but a complex with restaurant, pastry shop, pool, park, store with delicious items is very nice, both for the home and for the person. Our room, very large, furnished in a very romantic style. Even the fireplace, fully functional. A delight.
Absolutely loved the food and wine. The prices are a little high, but the flavor and preparation of the food is excellent. I plan on eating here again.
They advertised a gluten free menu but what they really mean is gluten free options, an in there are choices on the menu not made with flour. This said the food is very delicious but a little overpriced on the Breakfast menu.
Unfortunately I have not had good experiences here, hot plates come out cool to cold, over 45 minutes waiting for our food because our waitress was serving the management, did not have the time to get our order to us, she did apologize and offered us a free desert, last time I was there we waited for 40 minutes, ask the waitress how much longer it might be for our order, she said maybe 10 minutes or so and by the way, they weren't busy. So my wife and I cancelled our order and left. This is sad because we have been going there for over 20 years and have had good experiences, we will not be going back.
I have just tried the restaurant, so here the review is based only on restaurant. Great potato pancakes, this is a must must try, for sure! The apple sauce goes with the pancakes are just amazing!! Apart from that, their pancakes are good in general. I order blueberry pancakes as well, it taste great. I would not recommend the salmon and scrambled eggs. They are really just A-OK. Here I give 4 stars because they are very generous with their portion and the pancakes do taste great. Also good coffee latte and apple cider. The restaurant is really big and busy. We waited there for 15 minutes before finally getting in for brunch. The place is really cute though, worth the wait! :)
Here with two kids (5 & 8), feels very comfortable and safe. Room is clean and cute. Pool with hot tub is very nice. The wine, and cookies at reception are great too.
Dinner at Apple Farm is always enjoyable, and their menu variety ensures that everyone in a diverse group can find a good meal to their tastes. Dessert is great, and the best draw.
We had absolutely the best stay at Apple Farm! Our stay was for 3 nights in the Inn as part of a fall special. It also included a $75 dining package which was could be redeemed at their restaurant or bakery. We could not have been more delighted with our room. It had a gas fireplace, and a window seat! The gift basket full of chocolates and 2 bottles of apple cider, along with a cute little apple to take home really made us feel welcome and appreciated as guests. The dining voucher really came in handy especially when it came to dinner time and we didn't know where to eat. Well there's $75 waiting for us at the onsite restaurant, so we headed there. They offer good old fashioned homestyle favorites, some really inventive burgers and sandwiches, and seasonal specialties. In addition a wine and beer list which features local breweries and wineries, and specialty crafted cocktails. Over the 2 nights we ordered the veggie gnocchi, roasted pumpkin stuffed with brussels sprouts, a hamburger which I forgot the name of but was AMAZING, and tried some of the local beer and wine. The service might have been a little slow at times, especially with how few diners there were, but I was enjoying dinner with my wife so I didn't mind being left alone. I would definitely recommend Apple Farm to anybody looking for a quaint and intimate hotel to stay at in SLO. Check their specials page for great discount rates and special packages. I can't wait to return!
Very nice hotel with very friendly staff. The rooms are clean and high quality. The breakfast in the restaurant is highly recommended despite the high price. Rarely eaten so delicious. Gladly again!
This is a very nice hotel. We go there around Christmas and their decorations are amazing! The welcome cookies are some of the best and you also get a free glass of wine. The room is spacious and comfortable and clean. We actually stay another night on the return trip.
The Apple Farm is an experience and a great one at that. The service is impeccable. In the age of modern it is a throwback to another era. Hotels today have key cards but the Apple Farm continues to use real keys. The hallways are filled with paintings and prints - most of which are for sale. It feels as though you are going home to grandma's house if she lived in the south in the 40s.
Once we got to our room it was large and felt like a master suite in any million dollar home on television. As you walk in there is a lamp on an end table with a welcome sign and guest book. You can read the wonderful messages that guests who stayed in your room left before you. Our room had a king size bed that sat between 2 nightstands. A loveseat and coffee table with reading material sat under the bay windows. A high back chair, writing desk and stiff backed chair, and a chest of drawers with a tv complete the list of furniture. There is a fireplace for the winter, but we went in the summer and didn't need it all.
In the closet we found a mini fridge with bottles of complimentary water. There were 2 robes hanging up and they were wonderful. (You can buy them from the gift shop if you want to take one home.)
When we checked in, we were each served a glass of wine and cookies. In the lobby they had complimentary coffee, tea, apple cider, hot cocoa and cucumber lemon water depending on the time of day. Also, they offer onion scones at times as well. Every day from 3:30 to 5 they have a guest wine reception in the Garden Room. While I was there they served 2 wines from Vinas Robles but the winery changes every month. They also serve their own label which I was told was bottled by Castoro Cellars.
Like most hotels in the age of the eternal California drought they ask you to let them know if you want the sheets daily and new towels. If you don't want new sheets they provide a little tent marker to let them know. If you don't need new towels then you can hang them up but if you got the towel a little grimy they provide a lovely wicker basket to put dirty towels in. Also, I checked under the bed and they apparently clean under there too! Or at least that have a little sign that says they do.
They offer a turn down service between 6 and 8 in which they turn down your sheets and provide you with a couple Andes mints. In the morning, if you don't want to get out of bed you can order breakfast in bed, although you will want to hang the order form out before you go to bed.
While we did not order breakfast in bed, we did use our $5 per night coupon for breakfast at the on site restaurant. It was well worth it.
They do have a small pool and hot tub as well. Both were clean. The pool was great to relax in after walking around in the heat and the hot tub helped to release some of the soreness.
If you are looking for some place to stay in San Luis Obispo for a trip up the coast, a honeymoon trip, a family outing or just because, I highly recommend getting a room here. We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay and are already discussing when we plan to go back.
Very generous portions and overall good food. Prices are a little bit expensive but the food portions make up for it. Salad bar has quite the ingredient list and is fresh. Our server was absolutely fantastic. She was quite attentive and very friendly, definitely the highlight of our visit. We got the brussel sprouts appetizer and it was more like a main course. If you're looking for comfort food or generous salads this is definitely your kind of place.
Good food and healthy portions. Split a biscuits & gray with my daughter who ordered the Cal Special. Both were excellent. Had great service, too, which made for a memorable brunch on the patio.
Great place to have a family meal and get some interesting chachkies too. My brother ended up buying an entire pie when he found out the desert menu didnt have the pie he wanted 'by the slice'. We then shared it with the staff in the gift shop. Practically had to force it on them though, they were so polite! Great fish but my son wasn't too happy with his hot dog from the kids menu.
Great rooms, well specified. Hotel was decorated everywhere for holiday season. A little too 'Waltons' for us but very well done.
Must staff were extremely friendly, apart from restaurant manger who made us feel like deviants for asking about a bar. Very rude, and the reason we checked out next day
In northern SLO right off Monterey you can enjoy a farm fresh rustic and delicious breakfast and dinner. A local produce with delicious self made jams, cookie kit and soaps as well as Apple farm household and decoration items. A unique experience.
Room right on the freeway. Seems Europeans get the rooms on the freeway here. Had booked the hotel due to good reviews. Never again !!! Sleep is out of the question here. Worst hotel in 2 1/2 weeks road trip.
