Well put together. Reminder of what happened not that long again ago.
Great Museums and overview of the Frank family and their history.
Amazing and touching experience, but arrive early. Queues are immense.
An incredible and thought provoking experience. You see the rooms occupied by Anne and 7(?) others, and you learn about the hardships they had to endure before their betrayal and capture.
Tip - book online in advance, to avoid huge queues.
One of the most remarkable, emotional, brutally honest and humbling experience. I truly recommend experiencing this.
We queued here from 7am in the morning so we can get inside and it was about 1.5 hours of wait. You ll have to lock your bag and cameras into the locker as they do not allow you to bring them in.
After waiting for so long, there is a line formed for you to follow through the house, making it very rushed as others are waiting for their turn to read the artifacts. You can t really stand as read the stuff as the crowd pushes forward.
The house is dark, narrow and lots of stairs to climb so i won t recommend the elders or those with physical difficulties.
Amazing... It really makes you think and it touches your heart
Can only visit this if you have a ticket. You can only get tickets online. Sucks to be a visitor to the area and not be able to see the sites. It's like they don't want you to come.
It's worth visiting, but there's not too much to see, more to read or listen. Also, some of the tags for the audio guide are quite hard to find in the rooms.
We did the information session prior to the museum visit - very informative, a life changing experience. I would recommend the visit to everyone
Too many people walking round at once. Didn't feel like I could relax and take it all in. Apart from that it was great.
The place was an experience. Unfortunately the website crashed and I had to wait another day to get tickets.
Played hide and seek with a girl here in the 40's. Never found her though. Cool place to visit.
This was a great experience. It told you the history of all the people who lived at the secret Annex and those who helped them live there safely for 2 years.
Very crowded as to be expected. Interesting and very informative
A must-see if you're in Amsterdam. Everyone knows who Anne Frank is but I can guarantee you will learn many new things about the struggle she, her family and millions of others went through.
I expected a lot less and it is a very long and full of history journey. It lasts between one hour and one hour and a half to see it all through.
It is worth the money.
This is a very moving experience that i highly recommend. Book in advance if you can.
Nothing special, house like any other, way to crouded
Importnat historic place but without reservation of your time slot there is no way how to get in
The most amazing place I have been in my life. Totally unespected of what I taught it would be but in a better way. They had a device that would tell you the history of each room in your preference of language. Just amazing I will never forget
Oddly disappointing. It repeats the same quotes over and over again. The rooms are empty to honor the father's request but it becomes hard to empathize with empty rooms. Overcrowded ruins the somber mood. Focuses to heavily on just this single girl and fails to connect it to what was going on in the bigger world. Ie how this same scenario was playing out in thousands of other locations across europe. If you have read the books or seen the movies in school, then there is nothing new here except a long line and some empty rooms.
could use a more personalised experience. and more intimate groups
No tickets today. No tickets tomorrow. No tickets the Day after... pffff
It's a very nice house, and I liked how they had individual audio tours. You would get a small speaker and synced to different rooms to hear some information regarding the room or more about WW2.
Super long wait 2+ hours! It was still well worth the wait
Interesting piece of history in an otherwise uninteresting town. The tour was shirt and the annex has been completely gutted of all furniture. The presentation was nice but it was just a little light for me. I guess it's more "interpretive" ...
Make sure you get tickets in advance and get there early!
A place for thought and reflection, exit imbued with spirit of determination to stand with all who are oppressed or in fear.
LLTSOA
Absolutely brilliant experience. The museum and annexe are set up so well. People were silent as they walked through where the families hid. It's a shame buying tickets is so difficult - it was completely sold out on our days but I realised lots of tickets are released just after midday for the next day (online). I ended up grabbing some the day before we went but must have been on or refreshed the page 100 times in a month. It's a bit ridiculous. It was worth it, though!
Fascinating piece of history. Definitely order tickets online.
Everything that needs to be said about this experience has been said. And it is an experience.
Great experience! But you need to book the ticket online! *ONLINE BOOKING ONLY!* They don't accept walk in customers and you can't buy the ticket at the museum. Book the ticket 1 month before to save yourself from a disappointment or if u r in Amsterdam and just decided to visit well you can try your luck as there is 20% of online ticket will be release for the next day. Good luck! !
Second time I visited. The first time, I hadn't booked ahead, and the queue was almost 2 hours long. This time, because of a revamp, only advanced bookings were allowed. Informative and moving, but my fiancee was surprised that the outside looked more like a modern museum than a house.
Just wish it didn't feel so commercial. Not sure what I expected but way too many people and almost didn't feel genuine. Terrible thing to say knowing the history the building has endured but just expected more.
A must see and learn experience, everything is exposed in very delicate terms, yet it is impossible to resist the sadness of the loss a life together with millions of lives.
Great place to visit in amsterdam. Just 10 minutes walk from amsterdam central station. But, make sure that you are having a pre booked online ticket if you visit before 3pm. Its sold out most most of the times. After 3 pm, you can buy the ticket from counter there. This is based on my visit experience on 09/07/2017.
Humbling experience. Buy tickets at least 2 months ahead or wait in line and hope you get in before they close
Definitely worth a visit in spite of the crowd! Powerful, humbling, and emotional experience! I practically toured the entire house in tears!! I strongly recommend purchasing online tickets in advance for a morning time slot to beat the crowd. I registered for 9:45 and my line and the lines for earlier time slots were short (I went during off-peak season in Nov. though). Don't arrive too early because they won't let you in early anyway. Arrive about 15 mins early is fine (but don't quote me on that as they might loosen the rules). The content is beautifully and logically curated, with a lot of heart and respect. They're thoughtful enough to provide little booklets in various languages at the door so you're still able to read the descriptions if you are blocked by other people in the house. A wonderful, wonderful experience.
Complaints:
- There's no coat check although I know space is limited.
- The house could use more heating in some of the rooms. It can get real cold. (The fact that they don't let you check your coat is probably a blessing...)
- Many of the rooms are quite dark for the purpose of preserving a feel of the era, but some spots can use a tiny more lighting because the documents and photos on display can be difficult to see.
- Compared to other museums, the staff is quite cold, although I can imagine how tiring it is to deal with so many visitors per day.
- It would be wonderful if they could add Chinese editions of her book at the store among other language editions.
- They could use more staffers to guide the crowd in some of the rooms so the flow can move smoothly.
Very chilling and educational experience! We got very lucky that our hotel concierge found tickets for us on the same day! Alot of times people maybe cancel so spots come open online. The line outside was a mile long but we skipped it entirely and walked right in. During the tour you actually feel yourself going back in time and imagining what happened in each room. Worth it!
Book online at least two months in advance to avoid the lines. But even enduring the lines it was well worth it. A moving experience.
Wow. What an experience. Perfectly curated exhibition of the historical events that occurred there and in the broader context of the time.
Amazing. Every person who visits Amsterdam should go.
Pre-ordere your tickets via Internet and avoid the long que!
An impactful and unforgettable experience! I would highly recommend to anyone. It really puts things into perspective. Amazing!
An amazing emotional experience. Be sure to book online be you go. If you are in Amsterdam definitely try to experience Ann franks house.
I've always wanted to visit since I was a young girl. Such a bittersweet visit.
everything was good, many originals preserved. The only thing is the stairs being old Dutch are very steep and if your legs are not ok then you will need time and effort to climb them.
Really well organised place to visit. A very important message to all and a lesson we all need to learn
I visited the Anne Frank House over 20 years ago and it has changed considerably. Unfortunately not for the better. It is very hard to get tickets and you have to purchase them online now. Be sure to go to the website and read the directions carefully at least 3 months in advance of your visit! They do hold back some tickets that they release during the day (for that day only), but they go very fast.
You can no longer look out the windows like Anne described in her diary. The windows are blacked out (and the rooms dark) and there are so many people inside pushing and shoving that the experience was almost ruined. They did improve the information and pictures of Ann and her family; and, you see more of her diaries and other papers. However overall it was somewhat sterile. I am glad I visited many years ago.
While waiting for my friend I did encounter many people outside who were waiting for friends and family members. They had been able to get only a few tickets and were sad that they had traveled so far and could not get in.
That being said my traveling partner-a male who has never read the diary-thought the experience to be very moving. I was only able to get one ticket in advance which I gave to him. After arriving in Amsterdam, I spent the next two days trying to get a ticket for myself which I did on the last full day of our trip (just keep checking, I purchased my tickets during lunch time for a 4pm visit). I commend the staff, both times we visited it was extremely busy. They were at all times professional and courteous.
Very good, very sad story but what a wonderful way to remember Ann and her family
Bad maintained, busy, didn't like it at all. Go early or wait the whole day.
Absolute must to do in Amsterdam. Whether you know her story or not it's a great experience.
Amazing look back at a massive piece of history. Great tour and to see the actual diary of Anne Frank was great. Must see if your in Amsterdam.
The Anne Frank story is hold in the real house she lived in. The sad story of her life is well explained in the form of objects and video. A must see if in Ampsterdam. Get your tickets in advance, very popular museum.
Really moving experience, I recommend it without any doubt. Book with some time in advance because tickets might get sold out pretty soon during peak season. During winter it was ok, could book a couple of days before.
Anne's strength at such a young age was remarkable at the time that I can't even begin to imagine. I'm grateful that she has written her diary as her legacy, and what a legacy it has turned out to be.
Long line & you need to reserve 2 wks . in advance just to get inside
Good museum, very sobering look at Anne Frank's last year's in hiding. Interesting to see the actual space she and her family shared. Best to plan ahead if you know the dates you are going to be in town, tickets available only online and usually sellout well in advance. Entire tour takes about one hour with a free audio tour.
Memories of Anne Frank touches my soul. Sufferings of a little girl due to war.
I would highly recommend the Introductory program. Our guide was great.
Sorry i could not get in that day i was running late. I missed out.
Gave me goose bumps. Incredible to learn this about this history in history in duch detail. Wow.
Historic and educational museum. Reservations/tickets in advance are highly recommended since the wait would be at least a few hours otherwise
I couldn't go to the house because of the terrible ticket distribution method. It says tickets become available at 9am, however I was on the website at 8:40 and they were all gone. Terrible customer service.
Good tour with quality detail, very good all-round.
Found this a very sad experience but so glad I managed to get in. Well worth a visit
Awesome place. The history and story is so surreal. A must see.
Really interesting, does get quite busy inside but in a way that's good as means you go round slowly and take everything in
Order your tickets in advance online! We arrived just before the weekend and they were already sold out for the whole weekend. We lucked out as there were some tickets available first thing Monday - the day we were flying out - and we had just enough time to visit the museum and make it to the airport on time. The audio guide and exhibits are very thoughtful and moving.
Was very well done. Get your tickets will in advance (2+ months out) if you don't want to wait in line
A can't miss. Appropriate for children and adults. Make sure you get tickets well in advance via the website (a few months in advance is recommended.)
This was easily the favorite thing I saw in Amsterdam. Some of the stairways are a bit difficult to navigate, but it's all worth the effort.
A lot has been done to expand the exhibit in the past 10+ years. More multimedia, more photos and memorabilia, and an expansion into the neighboring buildings.
What a thought-provoking experience to see where she lived and to see the magnificent clock she looked out on.
Well worth the visit. We must never ever forget....
A mixed bag of emotions to visit this place. I do think it's a bit unsympathetic to have a cafe in such a terrible reminder of days gone by
Very somber. Give you a real reality check when you get in there. A truly amazing experience.
Fantastic. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues as some of the stairs are the original ladders.
Wonderful educational experience...so glad I booked in advance
Very educational museum. Important to remember what happened.
Make reservations ahead of time or expect a 4 hour wait to go through the museum.
A very moving experience. A must see when in Amsterdam. Book ahead though to avoid waiting
Super experience and great informative tour. Booking online essential.
