One of the things you do in Amsterdam. Its not fun. There is no joy in visiting the Anne Frank house, but as for the way it is set up I feel it was done very well. This self guided tour gives you an earpiece that as you walk through gives you an audio guide that changes when you point your earpiece base at a spot in each new room. The actual diary's and notebooks were there, and the exhibit is a sobering look into a tiny fraction of the wickedness of humanity.

I've been wanting to come here for a very long time. It was an incredible experience, and well worth taking the time to see it. I would suggest getting tickets ahead of time online because they seem to sell out very quickly in mornings for any same day tickets that might be available. An audio guide is included and very helpful to the experience of the tour. Lastly make sure to take time to check everything out in the last room which is attached to the museum store. There is a lot to read and a video that is around 10 minutes long. Highly recommend!

Touching museum with lots of information regarding Anne Frank and her family. However, the museum is very bare bones. Almost all the rooms are empty, with only photos to indicate what the rooms looked like before. Some amount of re-created furniture would be nice...if I wanted to know what the rooms looked like, I could just google that. Security is very strict, almost equivalent to the airport. Tickets were very hard to obtain, I don't think I got my money's worth.

Went to Anne Frank House yesterday. Unfortunately the weather was awful and we ended up queueing in the rain which wasn't pleasant. We waited about 20 minutes but it was definitely worth it. They handed us free audio controllers which were simple yet so effective. It was busy but the layout of the museum allowed us to go at our own pace. Overall very well organised, interesting and informative.

The life and story of Anne Frank is so important and impactful to so many people. I think components of this museum were very well done. Respectful and sensitive to the people involved. I do wish that there had been more to the apartments however. It's hard to visualize everything with just the four walls. Also, it's unfortunately so crowded because of it's popularity, so that hinders the ability to take your time and really consider your surroundings. Not sure it's worth a 2 hour wait, but I'm glad that I went.

Fascinating experience. Took us a while to get in, although we were a large group so it was probably justified; we waited around 45 minutes. Once you're in, it's all very respectful, as you would imagine, and takes you through the story of Anne Frank chronologically. Plenty of artefacts and information and, of course, the most intriguing part is seeing the annex, which, I thought, was surprisingly big! Recommended place to visit and learn a bit more about one of the 20th Century's most important stories.

We all know this place is a must, so to add to the visit I 100% recommend doing the introduction, a half an hour intro into the context of the house, brief history on Amsterdam, their place in WWII and the story of the Frank family. Learnt so much from the guide who was amazing and told the story so well. Afterward we went into the museum. They have a cloak room and give you an audio guide, take some plug in headphones with you, it made it a lot easier for me to listen to the commentary and I didn t have to hold the thing up to my ear the whole time.
If you go around to the front of the church that you can see from the museum entrance their is a small memorial to Anne out the front. Anne s diary features the bells from that church which at first drove her mad but she then got used to, after their first year of hiding the bells stopped ringing as the Germans took the metal, as was the case for most churches, to make ammunition... I found that interesting...

As a Jew I've been exposed from early age to Holocaust stories, books, films, and even met few survivors as well. The Anne Frank house was an emotional and an important experience for me, regardless my previous knowledge. This is a must if you're visiting Amsterdam.

Fantastic museum and well worth the effort in going. You have to buy tickets online in advance for a specific time and date (and depending when you visit, usually several weeks in advance before all the time slots fill up). The audio tour is excellent, well narrated and enough information that you feel it adds something without it moving you along too fast either. The rooms are bare in the house, a decision taken by Otto Frank when he returned to Amsterdam after WW2 but it also helps the sheer volume of people move around. The allocated slots limit numbers but it will still be busy. At the end of the tour is a very moving video about Anne and how she is viewed today.

Great historical location and amazing perspective of what they endured. Pro tip. Get tickets online well in advance or you can that morning online as well. They save 20% for day of sale. The museum releases them for sale day of starting at the time the museum opens....9 AM local time most days but be ready and those time slots left usually were in the afternoon.

A "must" for everyone. Nothing I can add about this lovely smart abd sensitive girl. An important place to visit, to remember the terrible things people did during the holocaust and to understand that this can happen again if we'll give governments too much power.

I really wanted to enjoy my experience at the Anne Frank House, but doing so was difficult. Everything is so touched-up that barely any of it is even authentic anymore, which is a shame in such a historic location. The worst part, though, is their horrid handling of their current renovating process. They re currently renovating the building, which makes it complicated to get in and make bookings, having them currently only available online. It s nice that they keep the building open for business regardless, however there is one small detail that they left out. Because of the renovations, they replaced the original diary with a fake. They made no mention of this at all, and I had absolutely no idea until I made my way to where the original diary was supposed to be in the museum. I was and still am furious, since seeing the actual diary was one of the main reasons I decided to go. Also, the gift shop is a little tasteless. I don t go to the Anne Frank House to buy The Diary of Anne Frank: The Definitive Edition or a cardboard DIY Secret Annex (I m not even joking). It was awesome to be in the original location, but they really ruin the experience in a lot of ways. If you re going to go, at least only do so when there are zero renovations happening so you can see the actual diary, and not their very convincing fake.

Really glad we visited here. As it turns out, we were taught so many incorrect facts regarding the life of Anne Frank whilst at school. It is definitely worth a visit to understand what actually happened and to better appreciate the impact the Second World War had on The Netherlands. The audio guides were very helpful and worked well with the tour of the house. As expected, the queue took quite a while but the staff handled it well. Would recommend.

Amazing to see.. an emotional journey through the house. Enjoyed the use of the audio packs to keep it quiet. The ticket system is a lot better, makes it a more efficient system, easy to buy tickets online.

Only reason why not 5 stars is how they did not control rude children in last room with parts of diary to read. Everyone was quietly queued up and then they bust in and ruined it. There was actually a staff person saying that it was ok and it was not.

Stunning museum with excellent exhibits. It really sobers you up and gives you the tiniest, but real, glimpse into the horrors that the two families had to endure. I highly recommend visiting this museum.

What a fantastic place, my 6 year old daughter loves Anne Frank and just couldn't believe she was walking in Anne's house. The reverence in the museum is palpable, the ease of entry, the headsets everything is just first class!!! I couldn't recommend highly enough, but definitely you need to book well in advance as no tickets are sold at the museum.

Very disappointing. I was at the house in 1969, the home is now a modern cold, brick and mortar edifice. It has lost the feel, the sense of what her life was like. I would not recommend, better off reading the diary.

Buy your tickets online.. I had a totally different picture in my mind before visiting the Anne Frank House. It is a must see attraction. With my online ticket I got to attend a small lecture before touring the house. It was great to get the information and the feel of the story before touring.

"The Diary of Anne Frank" was required reading when I was in the 8th grade and was spellbound by the book. That made visiting the Anne Frank Museum all the more amazing. Along with walking through the house, including the hidden rooms, there is a lobby at the end where one can purchase her must-read book at a very reasonable price. If you visit Amsterdam and don't take the time to visit, what were you thinking?

Very impressive to see what the Frank family experienced during their years in Frankfurt and Amsterdam.
I would advise everyone to book the 30 minutes program + visit of the house. It gives a good understanding of the situation of the Frank family and others.

Amazing place to visit. Worth the visit for sure.remember to book way in advance (somewhere 1 month earlier). If you don't know the story of Anne Frank you definetly need to read it. The house exposes to a next level all the worse that happened during World War II. We took the pre-tour "guide" were they tell Anne Frank timeline and explain why the house was transformed as a museum and the details of the historical registry.

The queues is so long, make sure you have time to do it, if not you can buy the ticket advance I think. And if you obsessed with her diary you should visit this place, where you will understand every single act from the book.

Have wanted to visit since I was a little girl. I am almost 51, am physically disabled but I pushed myself and climbed every single step! Very emotional to say the least. Every school aged child should have the chance to visit.
