It's ok. Nothing amazing. Lines are crazy long. Get there EARLY if you don't want to spend the day in line. Honestly loved the Corrie Ten Boom house in Haarlem better.
very touching ,fantastically done. very moving experience
If you're going to do any tour, let this be it. You have to get tickets on their site in advance (either months in advance or day of at 9am). I tried 2 days in a row and you need to be prompt right at 9am to get a spot. The self guided tour took about 1 hour and be sure to grab a free audio device before you enter the queue inside. Absolutely incredible to see the space in person.
Was a wonderful place to go, couldn't find her tho, she was great at hide and seek!!!
Very moving and heartbreaking. Definitely take the audio guide as it adds a lot to the tour. Make sure to book your spot online! No walk ups. Highly reccomend!
Anne Frank s House is very touching, a place for our reflection of the past, present and future.
It is a good history lesson and a touching experience, however I'd say that minimal age is necessary to improve it. When I visited the place with my partner a week ago, there was a family of four with an infant and a girl of 6. I don't think that they would understand the history of Ann and the atmosphere of the place, got bored, and were annoying other visitors.
Reservations are highly recommended. If you don't have a reservation you can enter after 3pm. But probably you have to wait around 2 hours in high seasons.
Thought provoking in so many ways. Inspiring, terrifying, chilling and makes you really consider what is right and wrong and to think about yourself and your relationship with others.
Nice to see how she lived before but nothing wow about it to be honest. Younger people might not enjoy.
If anyone finds themselves in Amsterdam for any period of time implore you to visit the Anne Frank House.
Visited once earlier also. Everyone would feel something once they visit this place. Lessons from history to build a greater future.
Really well done remembrance. They have done a wonderful job at meeting the Frank family's wishes and sharing a price of history with visitors.
While many people leave the Anne Frank House feeling depressed, I left feeling optimistic after learning how people risked their lives to help the 8 people in hiding.
We arrived at the Anne Frank House 45 minutes before opening and waiting in line for 1:30. The line grew fast and I expected us to be rushed though the annex. I was wrong. The museum staggers people entering so it s easy for visitors to take their time, while not being pushed though the museum.
I was surprised by the size of the annex as I was expecting it to be a fraction of its size.
If you re in Amsterdam, the Anne Frank House is a must.
Very well done, but overly commercialized and monetized. Although I recommend a visit, it is not among the top 10 recommended sites provided by locals.
Disappointed couldn't enter due high demand and you'll need book 2 Months in advance online. No ticket office there...
Very interesting tour and look back to colonial Africa. Clean facilities.
A relaxing way to start your Kenya visit while you shake off the jet lag.
Very interesting and moving. Managed to book a late session on the day after checking the booking page throughout the day.
Wonderfully put together. You can literally see the life. Very touching!
It's a nice house/museum but you need very much patient to get some tickets.
It is worth a stay but there are many visitors in a small house.
Had to stand for couple of hours before getting in. If you have read the book or know a bit about the history of the place, it's a must visit. Makes you emotional towards the end of the trip. Don't skip this but manage this visit in advance to avoid queues by booking online
Wonderfully done museum. Confronting. Get there 20min before it opens to line up otherwise can be waiting half the day. Must do.
A very moving place and in my view the House is set up in a way so that as many people as possible can view it without being overcrowded. Ensure you take an audioguide and take your time to take everything in. Be smart and buy your tickets online before you visit (days/weeks ahead) and it's a good idea to read Anne's diary before you visit.
It's a step back in time, the History you are told about on the tour
Great historical place to visit if you have read the book "The Diary of Anne Frank" recounting her living conditions during WWII as she hid with her family from the Nazis during their reign. You can see the interior but many areas including the original bookshelf staircase are now protected by plexiglass. Thirty years ago you were able to wander the original staircase and the rooms. Be sure to purchase tickets for entry on line in advance. Booking must often be done several weeks before your arrival and visit.
Haven't entered the museum because there where so many crowds in front of it.
One of the must see places in Amsterdam! It s very crowded though so be warned if you re not comfortable in tight spaces surrounded by lots of people. Totally worth it!
The guided audio tour is very well done. Lots of stairs, be prepared.
Such a powerful and moving tribute to a silent hero of World War 2. The stories told are meant to be informative, providing a deep and detailed history of this amazing young woman. Yet they leave one troubled and unsettled, wondering how such atrocious acts could ever have come to pass, reminding us and never letting us forget the horrific events of this period. Her voice sang through the darkness, locked within the pages of her diary, and allows us to truly witness these events as if we were there with her in that tiny Annex. Every single living person today should bear witness to her bravery and her determination, as we can all do with a little more hope in our lives.
The single most viscerally moving experience I've ever had in a museum.
With all that is going on in America right now, seeing what the Frank family (and the innumerable others just like them) had to do in order to simply survive (and ultimately perish at the hands of the Nazis regardless) was another push to DO SOMETHING here to ward off the nativist rhetoric and actions of our current administration. But I digress...
Personal circumstances aside, this is an EXPERTLY designed and facilitated historical landmark, and an absolute must-experience for anyone who can get there.
Be prepared to weep.
"How wonderful it is that no one has to wait even a minute to start gradually changing the world!" - Anne
I love the history but I cannot stand the queues but that's not something that can be easily handled with 1.4 million tourists going through the house each year. I felt sad and grateful I never had to live in such times.
History the house has was moving. Get tickets early, they can still out fast and can only be bought online.
It is just a usual house but with history attached to it. By visiting you will understand the situation of people who lived and survived in there. If you are fascinated about WW2 then it is the must place to be.
Everyone must experience this. How fortunate we are today
The house has been modernized which is great but I really feel like it lost it's flair for the sentimental feel.
Didnt get to visit as unable to purchase tickets. Disappointed as travelled from Australia.
Very moving and informative museum. Well worth the trip to Amsterdam if for no other reason than just to visit here.
Amazing experience despite of the tragic story. A must see!!!
The visit to the house was very emotional. There is s lot learn about life of Anne and people she shared her life with. I would encourage everyone to visit the house at least once while in Amsterdam. Make sure to book your ticket well in advance to avoid long wait on the day of the visit.
After a substantial 2nd spike in Coronovirus cases in the Netherlands we decided to cancel our trip to Amsterdam, to avoid spreading the virus (we've already had it).
However, we were unable to change our tickets to a later date or get a refund. The date we had booked had sold out so I expect someone else would have been keen to take our place.
I know its a charity and the terms and conditions were clearly stated, but I'm still very disappointed as, if we do return, it would have cost us a total of 124.00 to visit for a family of 4.
Ok to go, but don't expect to see anything special. They mostly play documentary videos for you. You get a grasp of how it felt spending years in isolation.
The history here is incredible. You can literally feel the tension, the anxiety, and the unknowingly each step you take!
I would say it wasn't worth the wait. There was not that much to see and there was a queue through the entire thing.
A real must to visit if in Amsterdam, and currently with the online booking system it's not busy. Both adults and our children found it fascinating and very moving to experience.
The history is fascinating but the lines are long and the crowds inside are large.
Excellent presentation of somber subject matter. The museum does a good job of celebrating Anne's life. Highly recommend visiting.
Anyone visiting Amsterdam should visit this museum. We arrived around 7:30 and despite the lines being queues around the block we only had a wait an hour to enter the museum. The wait was definitely worth the visit to the museum.
Didn't get to go as tickets sell out early. I think they put most of the tickets out two months in advance and a small percentage on the day.
This museum is OUTSTANDING! My only 2 criticisms are that 1) I went to the 30m intro session and the audio tour was basically a repeat of it (obviously only an issue if you do the session) and 2) no pictures... I understand the actual Secret Annexe may not be available for photos but there ought to me few (highly photo-regulated) areas for memoir purposes. I'd rather pay a little more to see the museum so they could afford to pay a liaison to monitor specific photo-friendly spaces (perhaps where her photo is on the large red wall in the end and where the 3 small screens are with people who knew her).
Otherwise, I cant recommend this site enough! Also, things in the souvenir shop are VERY affordable!
a must go place if you visit amsterdam. but no photos allowed in the building.
Nice to see it in person. But super crowdy. And too much merchandising of courseee
Content wise 5 star - Covid proof 1 star!
Can highly recommend the live introduction (suited for all ages) offered as the museum only has an audioguide.
During the live intro, space was organized very well. Covid Ok.
Following the route towards the museum through the original house on the canal, it became more and more crowded. Little & steep stairs, the small original spaces, its all part of the story& experience, however People were not taking the 1.5 meters distance and there were no crowd control people from The museum. For a top notch museum-Can you please make this a priority? Asap?
I highly recommend visitors to bring their own masks and only enter a space when you feel comfortable. Just wait on the doorstep while the visitors move slowly to the next room.Until the museum addresses this matter..
So moving. A must see when you visit Amsterdam. Obviously I cried
It's so nice to see after all years that Anne lived in the house it still live
Great museum that does an amazing job of honoring Anne Frank and the other individuals that came into contact with her during her life in Amsterdam. Definitely reserve your tickets in advance online as they only sell a certain amount each day to avoid overcrowding. There is a coat check inside free of charge which was very convenient.
Booked my ticket from 8:30 am same day. Used two mobile phones. Just keep refreshing the website. Finally got in after 9:30 mins. Lucky enough there were around 75 available tickets for 1 pm timing. Was disappointed with myself initially coz i didnt know you need 2 mos advance booking. Fortunately, they release limited slots from 9 am for same day.
Well worth the queue, very interesting to hear and read about the details of Anne Frank's story.
Book online early - otherwise you will miss out. I admit I went in without knowing too much of the history, so I learnt a lot and enjoyed the experience.
Be warned it is quite crowded, and I did get a bit claustrophic when the jam packed line wasnt moving much inside the house.
Very nice, one must not miss!! Interesting place, hats off to her!!
Good experience for anyone. It important that you ether take time to stand in line (2 hours) or book your tickets online. Be sure to take a look at the website first
First of all make sure you pre-book online, the queue out in the sun didn't look like fun! Twice I've been to this exhibition and both times I took away something new. It's not too long, interactive and gives you food for thought. Jordan is such a beautiful area too so if you walk a bit further down you'll find some hidden treasures
So I didn't think that I would be writing a one star review about the Anne Frank House, yet here I am. We planned our trip to Amsterdam just shy of a month in advance, and when we looked up tickets, all were sold out for the entire time we'd be in the city. There are no ways to buy tickets at the site, all tickets are available online only. The site does specify that 20% of tickets are held to be released online at 9am day of - and as we were in town for four days we figured we'd give that a try. Nothing in my entire trip to Amsterdam frustrated me as much as my experience with the ticketing website for this museum. Every morning I set an alarm to wake up and try to buy tickets online - and every morning the site was a vortex of frustration. Sometimes they're on sale at 8:30am - sometimes 8:55. There's absolutely no rhyme or reason for when they come online. You wait in the digital queue for ages as it counts down towards your turn - only to be told they're sold out. I tried every morning and there was no discernible pattern to tell just WHEN they'd be available - and when to attempt it. The only time they didn't seem to be released was 9AM, precisely the time they're supposed to go on sale. For having no way to queue in person, the digital system should be much better, and it simply isn't. Don't waste your time.
The extremely long queue is one of the longest I've seen other than that of St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City. Plan ahead if you are going to go.
Very humbling experience. We especially enjoyed the 30 minute introduction. It was well worth the added time and cost. You must get your tickets on line 2 months in advance!
Nice little bed and breakfast but you have to be quiet during the day.
It's an amazing experience.. One can really connect with the conditions during the War. It makes one realize just how much people suffered and what they came thru. Well worth a visit.
Amazing staff!
We were booked for Anne Franks house on what turned out to be a very hot day. My dad was feeling tired and we sat outside waiting for our slot.
Sadly he passed out and the Anne Frank staff were really helpful. They made sure he was alright and let us go through a side door and sit in the cool cafe, got some water and said we could return any time that day.
We're very grateful for the help they provided that day.
I was ready to pounce within a minute of the tickets going on sale online, and snagged a 30-min intro tour, which provided much interesting background info. It was so exciting walking in Anne Frank's footsteps, quite eye-opening going room to room. The audio guide and poster descriptions were great too. Very well done!
Fantastic experience! Not to be missed. Booking is essential at least 3 or 4 months in advance! Do not just turn up. We only got a booking late evening.
Looks amazing. Very popular as all tickets are sold out. You can only get the tickets online which is a shame.
Very busy place even if you have previously booked, be prepared for a long wait
This is a very emotional place to visit that leads to reflection. It is better to try to visit it if you are in Amsterdam, but try to buy your tickets at least 3 months in advance (which is the only way to get tickets - online). Photos are not allowed inside the museum.
A short walking distance from the Dam Square. Online tickets are now the only options. So if you want to visit it, book online tickets for Anne Frank House, else you will be disappointed. Jordaan shopping street is just next to Anne Frank House.
Brings the story of Anne Frank to life in interesting and engaging way!
A must see for everyone. Historically, and most of all, humanly profound.
The energy in this place is very strong. You can feel the sadness as you do the tour.
Make sure to get an internet ticket. There is a waiting line. You can go around the corner and have a photo at her front door as well.
