Great steaks if you're wanting to splurge a little. Unlike some steakhouses, you get a whole meal included with your steak. Soup or salad, sides, a relish tray, and house-made cheese and crackers all come included in the cost of the steak. Pretty much any steak on the menu can comfortably feed two people, and some could feed more. Steaks are thick and cooked perfectly to order. For me, the prices are too high for anything but a special occasion, but the food is worth it.
The restaurant is huge and has been quite busy when I've been there, so I wouldn't recommend it for quiet intimate meals. The wine list is extensive to say the least, but be prepared to pay for a whole bottle for most selections. A decent number of wines are also available by the glass and can even be had as part of a sampler of 3 or 6 different wines.
The Angus Barn is a great steakhouse and has become a bit of an institution, so don't miss out if you have the means.
Atmosphere, service is awesome. Food is beyond that!! Never disappointed! Definitely a must do destination. Christmas is decorated like a village. Just beautiful!
SNARLY! 2 nights ago we expected to be a great evening however we had a horrible with a capital H waitress. Not just me, but the rest of my party of six noticed her very snippy attitude and frequent disappearances. I had to ask another waitress just to get some rolls after waiting for 45 minutes. Also, when I asked for boxes to go for our unfinished meals, she vanished for a good 15-20 minutes. I had to ask another waiter to help us out with bags, etc. The whole time when I made a requests, she was blatantly sarcastic. Totally unwarranted!
Last year, we ate there on the same date to celebrate our anniversary, as we did that night. And, t was one truly great experience! We had a great waiter, fantastic food etc. etc.! aka the legendary Angus Barn experience!
Sadly, we've already made reservations for next year, a few weeks ago. But now, we're SERIOUSLY considering canceling them and giving somewhere else a try in hopes of saving money and not getting fed snide insults all night long by a waitress.
It's too bad because they have a really great establishment there but it's not worth paying what we paid to get treatment like we got. To be honest, our waitress acted as if she didn't want to be there that night. I don't know what her internal issue was. Perhaps, the management can find out as I wrote them directly about it and game them her name. And at the very least, I hope this post helps their great business to correct the problem and comes to the attention of others who have or will soon have the same experience. As for us returning with our party of 6 again, we're definitely leaning towards "no" right now. Especially, the waitress left out portions of our food from our take home containers, we found out the next day. The kind of shabby treatment we received, I'd expect from a Golden Corral level employee or maybe not even that. I'd made me wonder what went wrong in their employee screening process.
Nonetheless, we're persevering and she will not kill our joy!
Great food, great service. Always enjoy coming here.
Amazing delicious food and superb customer service! You can't go wrong!
Top 3 restaurants in Raleigh area for sure. Come for special occassions or to impress out of town guests.
It was a little expensive, and they tried to sell over 100$ wine, when we asked for a cheaper wine, but the food was great
Our waiter was awesome! He has worked there 20 years. My husband and friends raved about the ribs that were as big as a dinosaurs rib! I had the salmon and it was fine. Nice environment for socializing.
Could have went to Texas road house and had my steak cooked properly for far less money...
The Angus Barn is unique and special. The outside bar area is welcoming as you enter the restaurant. We were dining with three others, and the service was exceptional. We each had a different entree and enjoyed the salads very much. Angus Barn has an extensive wine list. What a great dining experience!!
Food is good, but the unique atmosphere and history is great
Food is delicious, and beautiful Christmas decorations.
The salad was average, at best. The ranch dressing was watery and bland. The filet was blood red (I wanted well done) and the fries were so-so. Not impressed!
The place was crowded and loud. The tables have those picnic table squares, for their table covers. The lighting was beyond horrible. It was actually hard to see.
The server was very nice and did a great job. Five stars for him.
I don't care for the loud, informal environment here. I have to say, even though Ruth's Chris is a good bit more expensive than Angus Barn, it is hands down, 100% better! You have much better lighting, a quieter dining experience, not to mention the incredible atmosphere that RC offers. And the food at RC is above par. (Ruth's Chris is more expensive because they are a la carte). And Ruth's Chris offers a much larger selection of sides than Angus Barn does.
Honestly, I'd rather spend $130.00 for a meal for two at Ruth's Chris; than spend $80.00 for an entire experience that is completely forgettable!
If you like loud, informal, and so-so food, then by all means, go here. But if you want a memorable meal that will be worth every penny, go somewhere else! My somewhere else, would be Ruth's Chris.
Magical
Had dinner tonight with family to celebrate a retirement. I had never been before. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas. Our server, Todd, was fabulous and very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. I had the salmon and it was superb. Most everyone else ordered steaks and all were very pleased with them
My favorite place to get a great steak in the RDU area. The wait staff is always helpful and polite, always on top of it, and everything on the menu is very good.
While you are there, be sure to check out the Wild Turkey Bar upstairs and the Wine Cellar downstairs.
Wonderful place to dine!!! Great food, attmosphere and service! A very Happy Valentine's Day for my husband and I!
I went here for my anniversary with my Husband and it was wonderful. The ambiance is warm and inviting and the food was wonderful.
Great atmosphere and kid/baby friendly. Nice sitting area in the bathroom for nursing. Kiddo got to make her ice cream in the kitchen and we got anniversary cake!
This place is so cool. It's obviously not cheap but it has a country club vibe too it and they go all out, especially.around Christmas. You've gotta make reso way in advance though... seriously.
Spent our anniversary here. Prompt service. Server was excellent. My husband and I both had filet mignon. Mine was wonderful. My husband got a bad cut. They were kind enough to take it off our bill. They presented us with a wonderful sour cream pound cake. Have been going to Angus Barn for way too many years! They always provide a great experience and true hospitality
Delicious food, amazing atmosphere, and outstanding service. This is a great place for the whole family.
The experience of going and requesting the "kitchen tour" I think was the best part. The tour is free and you get a chance to see things you wouldn't if you were just to go sit at the table. This is my own personal opinion but I definitely felt that the quality of food did not match the price at all. We had 2 entrees, 2 desserts, 1 glass of wine, and 2 coffees and the total was 150. Yes the steak is great. Definitely wont argue that. But my dad makes better potatoes than what I had their. Like I said the atmosphere and tour was the best part.
It's become a bit of local lore. Be a while before I go back if ever.
Very filling. The service was very kind and attentive. The place has a nice feel to it. They have so many reviews for a reason.
The best STEAK P-E-R-I-O-D. Best steak in the state by far. Service is outstanding and some of the best service in the state. Best food in the state. I always enjoy eating there and everything at the restaurant is amazing and all the waiter's and waitresses are very welcoming. Best steak in the state by far, NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO THE ANGUS BARN. Best restraunt in the state.
This is, in my opinion, a destination NOT TO BE MISSED!! Bring your appetite and maybe your server will offer a tour of the special areas not visible to the public! If so, certainly take the tour, you won't be disappointed. The wine list isn't a list, but a book and the wine cellar is spectacular.
Most of the entrees are large enough for sharing. The staff are welcoming and very helpful.
Good food/steaks. Over priced though. You break $100 for two, easily. Kinda funky, kinda pretentious...worth visiting, but overated, I think. No reason to charge $60 for a steak...gimme a break.
Always exquisite dining, delicious food, attentive service.
Warm, generous staff and an amazing facility! Try the chess pie!!
My wife and I ate dinner here tonight to celebrate Valentines Day. 45 minutes prior to arriving to the restaurant we had discovered my wife s debit card had been stolen and the thieves purchased over $3500. We almost cancelled our dinner reservations but since we have been coming to the Angus Barn for Valentine s Day for the past 15 years and sitting at the same table we didn t want to let this break our streak.
We informed Thomas our waiter what had happened and to apologize for being on the phone so much. He went above and beyond to give us great service and made us feel at ease with the situation we were dealing with. Before we left the !!OWNER!!, Van Eure, came over and had a conversation with us about everything we were going through and sent us home with a special gift.
We are blown away by the hospitality of the Angus Barn! Not to mention, but they also have phenomenal food too, LOL! You have a customer for life and we can t thank you enough!
We had our office Christmas party here for the past few years.. The 1st thing you notice is that it is large than you would think when driving by. A huge parking area in back that can fill up quickly but once inside, you there is plenty of room. The atmosphere is charming and the staff welcoming, polished, and professional. Something that isxrate to find these days. There are numerous rooms for available to accommodate parties of various sizes, including dining in the kitchen. The wine cellar is magnificent. They offer a tour which I highly recommend.
The food is extraordinary. We had the roasted tenderloin and Chilean Sea Bass. You are given a butter knife to cut your steak. Yes it is that tender. It passes effortlessly thru the beef. Not once has there ever been a bad meal. I highly recommend this place. Its a great way to impress family and/or clients alike.
I wasn t impressed with Angus Barn. The food was mediocre, and the filet was not cut properly. I do not care to have a filet that has a line of grizzle not properly removed. I wasn t paying for sirloin at a cheap chain. I was so disappointed with the food! The appetizer was okay, but not at all warm. The steak was sub par, and a cheap cut. The prime rib was dry, although I ordered it medium rare. I am not sure how that even happens??!! I was traveling in the area, and the staff did not procure me a car service in a timely manner to get back to my hotel. In fact, they seemed taken aback by my request, as if I should have arranged it myself. I was traveling! I was not familiar with the area or the available services! After waiting for thirty minutes in the lounge area, I had to take a taxi back to my suite. The management seemed harried and obviously did not understand my request. Car service, not taxi. I will not go to the Angus Barn when I am in town again. The prices and menu falsely indicate fine dining and experience. The staff, with the exception of our waitress, who was very professional, were not capable.
We went here for our realty team Christmas Party. With a reservation made about a month ahead of time they were able to accommodate us. They do everything very well and the decorations around Christmas time are beautiful and make a great atmosphere. We have been at other times of the year and it's beautiful. The food and staff are always superb. It is a little pricey, but it's iconic for the area and definitely a must go at least once.
I honestly can t wait for the next special occasion because we loved the angus barn. The food, the service, and the atmosphere. Excellent night
Great experience. The steak was cooked perfectly, service was friendly and fast. Everything we had was delicious.
I was lately down in the Pavilions for a corporate party. Had to listen to some guy that thought he was important give a five minute speech on how great their building and Iron Chef was. I think his head was swollen.
It's a great steak place, excessively expensive, and a bit over rated, there are better in raleigh.
This is my second time at this restaurant and not disappointed again. I got the 22 oz ribeye stake with asparagus and coleslaw. The stake cooked perfectly and the vegetables very well presented also. It is not cheap but you should try at least ones and you will consider as a place to visit there. Ask for the tour inside the restaurant, you will not be disappointed.
Not as good as I remember. No specialized entree that you can get jo where else. But....its the Angus Barn...one of a kind
Not impressed. Way over priced
Poor quality of meat. After having a home cook grass fed filet mignon then a corn fed one at the barn was like night and day. Not worthy. Don't think i will ever go again
A true gem. Excellent steak. Excellent service. Bravo!!
Meat, meat and more meat. Mainly cow. Good beer selection. You will need a reservation unless you are prepped to wait a long time for a table.
Great place as it always has been for years......enjoy
Finally got around to this Raleigh staple. Definitely worth it! Make sure that you get the Chocolate Chest Pie! You can get a whole pie to go!!
The food and service is out of this world! Our favorite place in town to go for a special occasion.
Great service great food, I've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed
As usual service is there checking on you regularly. Great food that is cooked to your taste and expectations. The chocolate chess pie I left with last night is half eaten.
Excellent mix of southern meets class! The dining area is in an actual barn it s rustic, wood-centered and the decor is upscale farmhouse. Everything else follows suit. The serving staff was organized and personable. They wanted you to feel like you re home. The clientele further illustrated that you were in for a treat, but hadn t left the south. Dinner was superb. I had an Oscar-style, bacon-wrapped filet with a fresh salad and the best French onion soup I ve ever had. For dessert, my boyfriend and I split their signature chocolate chess pie (highly recommend) over a couple cocktails. The food is kinda pricey, but the portions are generous and the food was delicious. The place is not a 5-Star restaurant and doesn t make itself out to be. But you ll get exceptionally high quality service through a high quality meal. I would recommend going back for a special occasion or celebration.
We could not reserve the table and were seated at the Lounge.. waiter didn t take care of us well.. we had to call him each time to take the orders..
I will not be going back
This was a delicious experience that I will return for again. Provide just the right amount of smancy with speed and finesse for a fabulous night out with the hubby!
We went for our anniversary and had the best experience! Our waiter was fantastic. He even explained the history of Angus Barn. Highly recommend this place. You can tell the wait staff is very well trained and the food is just fantastic 5 star all the way.
The Angus barn is absolutely the best. The food is prepared to perfection. The staff was so nice and professional. Our whole group loved every moment. Everyone should go , and I'm sure they would feel as I do
Unusual night. Wednesday and a long wait. No problem. Food made up for the wait. Table had prime rib, bacon wrapped filet and NY strip. All cooked and seasoned to perfection
Best in the area. Price seems high BUT really is not for what you get
Ambiance was incredible and the lobster tail was to die for. Angus barn completely gets you in the Christmas spirit being there. The only unenjoyable portion of the evening was the raw bacon wrapped around my filet. I didn t eat it bc it lost its flair after that raw bite. Otherwise i loved everything about this place, service was incredible, everybody was super friendly. I would go back for the seafood any-day.
Wonderful place to eat. Great date night place. A true Raleigh landmark. Wonderful service and food.
I really like this place, but it was not as good as I remembered. Very big, very crowded. I had the filet mignon and French onion soup, and they were just OK. I ordered the filet medium, and it was overcooked. I probably should have sent it back, but I was with a group and didn't really want to wait.
I would definitely go back as it is a very cool place, unique, a great experience in that they have been around for years, but I might be a little more picky about what I order.
The service was pretty good too (not great, as I don't think a place operating at this scale this can really deliver great service).
One of the best dining experiences in the triangle.
Love this place. Great food absolutely the best ambiance.
My wife and I went for a "Titanic" dinner down in The Wine Cellar private dining area and had an amazing experience. The service is impeccable, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere with the place settings and the storytelling about some of the people aboard the Titanic was a truly enriching experience. One note that just shows the attention to detail that the staff goes to was the fact that the wine stewards were pouring each glass at the table in sync as they worked their way down the table.
Always great service and a great meal at the barn, but the reason for this review is for their event staff. My wife and I bought tickets to their murder mystery dinner. It explicitly states when purchasing that there are no refunds for the event. I called and they let me know if someone on the wait list for the event would be interested they would refund the cost. I didn't expect them to go through the exercise, but sure enough a couple weeks later I got a phone call and an email letting me know that they refunded the cost back to my card. Always had a positive experience at the angus barn, this just reinforces it.
Awesome time
Great good
Great space to have cigars after dinner over drinks
Food is really good! But definitely make a reservation!
Great steak great service. Thanks Katie. A little on the expensive side but the quality of the food proves no other. Will go back again.
Great steaks for an unbelievably good price. Better than Ruth's Chris at a fraction of the cost and exponentially better ambiance.
