Thanksgiving dinner review - Having been to this renowned eating establishment a dozen times or more in the past decade or longer (including taking 50 employees to dinner there in the banquet hall in the basement on several occasions), my wife and I decided it would be a good place to celebrate Thanksgiving. I couldn t be more wrong, the buffet style dinner was tasteless other than the copious amounts of salt brine pumped into bland looking turkey slices. Worse was to follow, the deserts were not worthy of a cafeteria level restaurant, certainly nothing home made about any of the options especially the pumpkin pie which looked and tasted as if it was bought en-masse at Costco. Overall, very disappointing and not at all what I had imagined having eaten there many times. Certainly not worth $50/head plus obligatory 18% service charge which was high for the level of service received (rushed and giving the feeling that the table had more important guests arriving soon).....I do not recommend this restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner.

My husband and I came up to eat with a couple of friends for a late birthday celebration. The food was good and our server was excellent. Unfortunately, they were unable to accommodate us for a tour. We asked our server about a tour when we arrived and she explained that she would let the host know after dinner to put us on the list. She informed the host and we waited. The host upstairs in the Lounge where we ate at approached us after awhile and said it would be 15 minutes. After about 10 minutes, one of the servers approached us and said he would recommend waiting by the host station so they would see us and get to us quickly. We went downstairs and the hostess said it would be 30 minutes and handed us a pager. We advised her that the host upstairs said it would be 15 minutes almost 15 minutes ago. She asked who it was and then said she would have us on the next tour. After waiting another 15 or 20 minutes and realizing it had been over an hour of waiting, we left. I would ve love to see everything in the barn. I am a little upset that I specifically waited until December to celebrate my birthday and come see the decorations and wasn t able to. I won t be back.

Iconic steak house in Raleigh. Great atmosphere for a romantic dinner or even a nice dinner with young kids. Ask about the Chef's Table for a unique dining experience (1 seating per night). The Meat Locker offers outdoor seating and cigar smoking.

Fantastic place for a nice dinner! Have been here a few times now and I have enjoyed every single meal. The service is superb and the meal is always delicious. The last time I visited, I went in to just buy cheese containers from the gift shop. They were very prompt and helpful! Always recommend for a nice meal!

Where to begin, as usual the restaurant is immaculate. The staff are all friendly and so very accommodating. This dinner was spot on as always. Steaks and lobster cooked just right. I cant say enough about the cheese and crackers, the relish tray and the shrimp cocktail. Never a glass even close to empty. I highly recommend the Angus Barn for very fine dining.

The last two times I've been I haven't had great experiences. The last time we made a reservation for a group of 8, and still had to wait 15 minutes. The waiting area was quite crowded, and we were not offered a way to purchase drinks while we waited. Then we ordered. We all got steaks and... it wasn't great. I ordered mine medium rare, and got a steak that was cooked medium well. It had clearly sat for a while, and the sauce was not good. There are other much better options for steak in this price range.

Great atmosphere. The food is above and beyond. You will have a great dining experience here. Van (owner) is a wonderful lady who makes it a special occasion all year long when you dine here. But you must go around Christmas because it is truly beautiful.

Went for my anniversary, and it was nothing like ive experienced. Food was A+ nothing to compare this to because you've never been to a place like this. The staff is very polite and the environment was on point. Worth the money.

Wow, what an incredible first experience here tonight! Jeff, our server, was beyond nice and attentive... He was fun and upped the experience ten fold. Started by munching on the complimentary homemade crackers and delicious cheese spread. The appetizer crab cakes were perfectly done with amazing flavor followed by a super fresh and crunchy Caesar salad with shaved Parmesan. For my entree, the espresso rubbed filet medallions with a chili reduction and blue cheese mashed potatoes were out of this world. Not sure where I found the room but the award winning chocolate chess pie for dessert hit the spot. It has been a long time since I've enjoyed such a decadent meal but it was worth every bite! Yum!!!

Angus Barn is known for its strong family roots and personal service in addition to its 5-star food. We are not wealthy and therefore save this magnificent restaurant for only special occasions, but each time we are there, we are treated like the most important people in the world. The staff has all been involved for many years (one that we dealt with tonight started there in 1979) and all take great pride in everything they do! Try to get a tour (or have a dinner party there) of the majestic wine cellar, or just walk the grounds or even admire their world-class firearm collection. Recommended on all levels for all occasions.

Well, we haven't been to the Angus Barn in a few years and as far as the food is concerned we haven't missed much. The food isn't bad, it's average. For the price you pay, it isn't worth it. The holiday scenery decorations are downright beautiful and whoever is charge of that does an excellent job. We went in the beginning of January to miss the holiday crowds. Another bright spot at Angus Barn was our server. She was very attentive and polite. The table we sat at was subpar because whenever we went to cut our steak it rocked and nearly spilled our drinks every time. Come on Angus barn you should have better than that with the prices you charge. Our server was apologetic and tried placing a wedge under the leg, but it didn't work. Bottom line? We wouldn't go again to the Angus Barn because too pricey and the food was only average. There are so many other restaurants offering better tasting food.

As you might imagine, the delivery does not live up to the hype. The restaurant failed to deliver on the easiest of details (bland mashed potatoes? Really?) as well as the beef it raves about. My new york strip steak au poivre was so tough and chewy I had to take breaks from chewing a single bite. Others in my party also agreed that the texture was egregious. To it's benefit, the Angus Barn is a site to see during the holidays. The decor truly is out of this world. Save yourself from generic steakhouse disappointment and go for a glass of wine to take in the outrageous and fun decorations.
