Great food. Unique place with a pleasant atmosphere. I will definitely go again and recommend it.
We went to the Angus Barn for our 2nd wedding anniversary and it was the best dining experience we've ever had. I had never been there before, and my husband had only been a few times years ago. Everything was wonderful. Our server Aaron (not sure if I'm spelling his name correctly or not) was also the best server we've had at any restaurant ever; he was friendly, funny, and was just on it the whole time. At one point my husband got up to use the restroom, and left his napkin on his chair, which was a little crooked and pulled out from the table. Aaron walked over, folded his napkin, placed it straight on the table, and straightened/pushed in his chair. At another point, Aaron was showing us the desert tray and noticed our table was wobbly. We hadn't asked anyone to fix it as it wasn't a huge deal and everyone seemed really busy. However without missing a beat and while still describing the desert options, Aaron pulled a wedge out of his pocket and fixed our table.
The timing of our food also couldn't have been more perfect. We had ordered cocktails, salad, steak, and desert, and each time the food came out at the perfect moment. Overall we were there for about an hour and a half, but it actually felt much faster with how quickly our food came out. Everything was delicious and I don't think I've ever had a steak better than the Angus Barn's. When we had arrived, Aaron had also asked us if we were celebrating anything that evening, to which we said our wedding anniversary. When we finished our meals, he brought out an adorable cake; not a small bowl of ice cream, not a small piece of cake to share like other restaurants, but a legit whole cake (I think the Angus Barn's original pound cake recipe) and wished us a happy anniversary. We still wanted to try other deserts (since again I had never been there before and wanted to try as much as possible), so he boxed up our cake and told us some recipe ideas we could use it for when we got home or if we wanted to make a cute breakfast with it the following day.
I just can't speak highly enough of Aaron and our whole experience there. It was just perfect, and we're going to go to the Angus Barn for our anniversary from here on out!
This place is amazing, you should really come here. I LOVE IT IT IS AMAZING AAAAAA THIS PLACE IS LITERALLY PERFECT
Chateaubriand was great. Gravy a tad sweet, but overall a good meal.
Delicious! But be ready to spend some money. Great staff, great food, and great atmosphere! The only thing I could possibly complain about is the lack of draft beer but everything else is top notch! Everyone should try it at least once!
What an amazing place. One of the best cuts I ve had.
I enjoyed the atmosphere of the "Meat Locker", where you can smoke fine cigars.
One of the best steakhouses around. Expensive, but worth it
Tonight was one of the most humiliating experiences in my life. The owner "kicked" my family out of the Angus Barn for what she says was playing a video too loud at our table. It was one daughter's birthday that we were celebrating. We were taking pictures as we have for six years of dining at the Barn. We were reviewing the pictures when we were approached by the owner and asked to stop playing the video loudly as we were disturbing the tables around us. Looking around, only one couple was behind us. The problem was that the female was upset with her husband for staring at my 23 year old, attractive daughter, more attractive than his wife. She made some complaint to the owner instead of confronting her husband. We had just finished our first course when the owner, who did not know what was going on, but made the wrong judgment call, did not like being questioned about her comment.
She made her way back to our table again provoking what seemed like an argument. We told her that we would finish our meal, leave and not return. She says to us, " As a matter of fact, "You can get up and leave right now." I was shocked. The rudeness, hatefulness poured out of this lady's mouth. The owner of the Angus Barn? Born with a silver spoon in her mouth. A restaurant handed down to her? I am 58 years old and have never encountered such a horrible insult as delivered by this lady. I have been dining there for six years. My family spends lots of money in this restaurant and to be treated like this? And the lady behind us got a thrill over her complaint. My 28 year old's Birthday was ruined. She was highly upset. This is a girl that went to war to fight for her country at the age of 20. She spent five years in a foreign country fighting for our freedom. My husband is a 32 year decorated Green Beret Special Forces Veteran. They both suffer with PTSD. We get humiliated and kicked out of the Angus Barn for something we didn't do? Before you go spend your hard earned money on a meal there, think about this owner who treats loyal customers like dirt on the bottom of her shoes. She has forgotten how her family got where they are? LOYAL CUSTOMERS
The Turkey Lounge is awesome and the service at Angus Barn has always been phenomenal.
An Institution A famous Raleigh classic with a lot of history and memories for Old Raleigh people. Excellent service, food, deserts, and wine. Known for their steaks, but famous for their collection of fine wines, expansive and interesting cozy seating areas, and famous for chocolate pies, apples, and sawdust pie. They have beautiful private dining facilities, outdoor seating, a cigar bar, and eclectic decorating that amounts to a museum. They even have their own lake and water tower plus wedding venues out back. Country with some class, always great for people watching and celebrations, always a fun place to visit.
