We were a Birthday party of four. The valet was rude, the entrance was obscure, the hosts were friendly and polite. We changed tables and everyone was good natured. The menu offered classic American steak house fare. Our waiter promised that customer satisfaction is the restaurant's top priority ("And MINE"). The appetizers were less than mediocre. I ordered strip steak, medium. It arrived twice -- medium rare. We are unlikely to return.

The Angus Barn is an experience more than a meal. Don't get me wrong, the food in AMAZING, bit when you eat here you are paying for more than just high quality food. Your server will take care of everything you need, answering questions about steak, wine pairings, and anything else you need to know. The building itself has a lot of charm and history. I have heard you can even get tours of the place if you come when they are not very busy. I would highly recommend the Angus Barn if you love a perfectly cooked steak and a nice night out.
Very good but some things changed a bit from 5 years ago. Anything to do with the meat of course cannot be beat anywhere else. The Salad wedge use to be much bigger my recollection is 1/4 of the iceberg lettuce head
Great steaks. Great potatoes. ...and really good crackers and breads too (along with the most fantastic cheese spread and honey butter). This place maybe up there in price, but the service is excellent, the food fantastic, and the portion sizes huge. No one leaves this place hungry.
I'd say on par for price with Ruth's Chris, and as good if not better in taste/quality, with a more relaxed atmosphere. Bring a tip for the parking valet and your patience, orders take a while but they come out great.
Visiting the Angus Barn was an incredible experience, well worth the expense. We walked up to live jazz music on the porch and delicious scents filling the air. We entered to a bustling set of rooms from the gift shop, to a parlor with an incredible hand gun collection, to a variety of dining rooms - the atmosphere was inviting and amazing. After eating one of the most delicious meals I've ever eaten, on our server's suggestion, we requested a cellar tour. Don't miss that opportunity, if you get it. We had a guided tour into the wine cellar, through the kitchens, into the cigar lounge, and a detailed account of the establishment history from a delightful gentleman who spoke nothing but great things about the place he would gladly work for his entire life. If nothing else, his glowing reviews of his place of employment only added to the remarkable experience of visiting the Angus Barn. He suggested visiting during Christmas time for a magical experience and I'm thinking that it would totally be with the expense to see it.
If you are coming to raleigh and want a great local owned steakhouse this is the place to go! Right near the airport and easy to get to it is a cornerstone of Raleigh Southern hospitality. Excellent food and service. I would put it in the higher price range but you are getting the quality food to match the price! If you come to town and like a great steak you need to check it out.
This is by far the best food I've ever had the joy of eating. Ask to tour the restaurant after you eat. When my son comes home for leave my wife and I take him here. We all love it.
It was out of this world!! It was packed but the service was still good and the food was cooked to perfection!! Would highly recommend this place. I highly advise that you make a reservation any day of the week.
I first ate here with my senior prom date almost 25 years ago. Damn that makes me sound and feel old. I have loved it ever since. The only place that cooks steaks better than I do.
Amazing place! Food was delicious and the ambience was really cozy and barn like. I would recommend getting their, Famous Steak it s a challenge for two but my god is it delicious. There s a gift shop, free cookies wonderful places to explore and the waiters are super kind and friendly. Makes you feel like home!
I'm not sure you would EVER go wrong at this 5 star restaurant/event area. Everything is always over the top, and more than you expected. Well worth a 50+ mile diversion.
Come hungry. The portion sizes are extremely generous. While the place is pricey, you get a tremendous experience. Be sure to ask about the wine cellar tour and to look around the place at all of the great photos.
5-star atmosphere with 3.5 star food (for an upscale restaurant). I really want to like it more, since the atmosphere is my favorite in the Triangle. But the food was a bit generic. It was fine, just not particularly interesting.
First time there. Recommended at hotel. Possibly the best filet I have ever eaten. Great ambience. Good service. Don't go if you are expecting fast food prices or medium prices at lesser steak houses. The steak had exceptional flavor and it was so tender that these old (69) teeth had no problem chewing. It was cooked to my perfection and I did not have to send back. I am not a local, but if I were I would go back.
Not even close to worth the money . Staff was fantastic food on the other hand was terrible . Starters were clearly microwaved or pre done for weeks. Ordered prime rib. It was not even seasoned. My party dropped over a 1k on this. I will never be coming back . I highly recommend a kfc over this over priced place .
The service is fantastic!!! We brought our ten year old boys for dinner (holiday tradition) and it was great, our server was ver attentive to their needs including taking them back to get their own ice cream, their reply " this place is awesome". My wife and I still saw the attention to detail I expect at a high end restaurant for us too. And yes the steak was amazing as well!!!
Amazing service and food! Dont let the theme turn you away. This was one of the best stakes I've ever had. And one of these days, I will try their pre-prohibition bourbons!
The food and service were pretty good, but it was probably a bit over priced. It also is amazing how many tables and people they cram into that space. Not a tremendous romantic place. This place does not live up to the reputation and local lore.
My husband and I decided to go to the Angus Barn to celebrate my 30th birthday and our first night out since having our baby. We had never been to this place before, but were really excited to experience it after hearing such great things. The food was great, but the service was a little disappointing. It was obvious that our server had another table that she held as a higher priority than us, so we didn't see her as much as we would have liked and seemed distracted when she did check on us. Like I said, the food was great and the place was absolutely beautiful, it's just a shame for something like this to take away from our overall experience.
Love this place! The ambiance and lighting is amazing on a regular basis but they take it to the next level at Christmas. Great for special occasions or just to treat yourself!
Angus Barn is the real deal. Order the cowboy ribeye that is not on the menu. It is fantastic. Matthew Sparks is the very best. We will only sit with him because he is the very best and takes care of us like family. #angusbarnverybest
Food was delicious, the service was very good, the scenery was beautiful, and the staff were very helpful and patient. The prices are very expensive but otherwise my fiance and I really enjoyed the Angus Barn
Tour of place was nice, Xmas decorations were magical, food was plentiful and delicious, great service! Highly recommend it! It is very expensive though.
Review is for the upper Lounge area: Visited at 4pm after they opened. Lounge is exactly how you would imagine a lounge: big leather chairs, dark woods, intimate seating areas, plaques of the names of locals over their favorite seating area, bathrooms have a table full of items you might need( lotion, mouthwash, etc). Our waitress took the time to do a wine sampling to help figure out which wine I would like better than would go with my meal. They offered vegetarian meal options as well.
The home of the finest steaks I've ever eaten. First class service, incredible wine list. Enjoy the specially blended cheese spread on house made crackers along with the pickles and olives while sipping a drink to wait for your table.
Candice and other staff members was a very polite, My Girlfriend and I went out to celebrate, and decided to eat at Angus Barn. Candice gave us a tour around Angus Barn. We will definitely be back.
Really really good food!!! And service is okay if I'm spending over $150.00 I want a better service. If you never been you should go it may be just me.
Had a retirement party, 24 people last night, 1/19/17. From the moment we walked in the door everyone greeted us, smiled, so friendly and warm! Our waiter and the people who helped him were outstanding! Thank you Richard!!! The best dinner experience ever. The food is worth every penny! Could not be any better! Treat yourself and go, you will not be disappointed!
The food is not good. I expected better with it being a steakhouse. Pricing way to high for the food not be awesome. Will not recommend nor visit ever again.
I went to Angus Barn for the first for a pharmaceutical rep meeting . I was so excited because I had heard so many great reviews. Needless to say I was so very disappointed. The wait staff were very professional and accommodating but the food was not so good at all. I was sick all night since I don't eat beef, I only ate the sea bass. As for me, this is my first and last time visiting this restaurant. The three stars is definitely for the service received , not the FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely love dining at the Angus Barn. They create an experience that puts you as priority #1! We celebrated my moms 67th Birthday and could not have asked for better service and attention throughout the night. The owner visited us and the girls were invited to the kitchen for a tour and ice cream! Steak was fantastic as usual and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and ambience. Highly recommend coming here for lunch/dinner.
Sadly, can t give the barn its usual high marks after tonight s visit. The potato was tepid as the butter didn't melt. The food did not look appealing on the plate. No bread. No pickles. Chandler spilled water on the table and took a long time with the salad and refills. Not sure what was going on but certainly unusual.
Ribeye was less than an inch thick meaning it was overcooked for medium rare to get a good crust. Seasoning overpowered the steak and had something funky on it other than traditional salt and pepper.
Came with a group of 12 and server was obviously miffed that we didn t want to order appetizers. We said we would like to order entrees and she walked off and came back 5 minutes later and asked if we wanted to order appetizers. Service was not great overall. Wine took 15 mins to arrive (halfway through my steak). Had to flag our server down multiple times, and for a big party that s unacceptable.
The place is extraordinarily quaint. It s larger than it looks and the decorations and lighting are great.
But at this price point, you should find a better steak with better service.
Fantastic atmosphere, great food, and perfect attention to detail. The staff take care of the guests as if they are the only ones there. The food is cooked precisely and is absolutely delicious.
We arrived, two couples, yesterday at 3 pm, when they opened. The parking lot was already full. The place was packed. But in spite of the large crowd we enjoyed crackers and cheese and olives etc. and drinks while we waited for a table. We were told that it might be a long wait. However, we we're soon seated at a table. My wife and I had the Chateaubriand for two. It was cooked a perfect medium rare as ordered. The stuffed potatoes were good. I am amazed that they can serve so many people and still do such a good job. Our server was very pleasant and helpful when we had questions. It is always fun to see the Christmas decorations at the Angus Barn.
