We didn't stay at the hotel, however, we did have afternoon tea and it was excellent! Hands down one of my all time best afternoon tea experiences. The staff was efficient and the food was killer. Every single one of my gluten free items were delicious. The tea was also some of the best I've tried.

I was slightly disappointed with the standard which was possibly due to the need of refurbishment, all of the staff were very helpful and deserved an excellent 5. The Altitude restaurant lacked atmosphere and felt like a standard dining room. I was sorry to see that there was no 'Shang's Palace' which I have experienced in other hotels.

Very nice place, employees accommodated extra requests which was great. Place had a great view, room was neat. Didn't stay the night but the people who did loved it. Expensive but you know what you're getting.

Great hotel in the heart of Sydney with a nice view over the opera and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Our room is just nice, we have a suite consisting of a little living room and a separate bedroom. The ends are comfortable and we were surprised with a honeymoon gift i.e. champagne and chocolate. The breakfast is good, but excluded from the room price. The spa is okay, but a bit said that there is no outdoor pool. After all great pick for this amazing city.

We were comfortable and quite happy with our stay though I'm disappointed to say, it was fairly unremarkable. We used the gym/swimming area and the gym is very well equipped, though some large windows would complement this area very well. We would have liked somewhere to sit and enjoy the sun and perhaps some food/beverages around the pool. We felt that the Horizon Club was of no value. We went there a couple of times and both times the only snacks on offer were small sweets. We have enjoyed these services at other hotels where savoury snacks and alcohol are served almost 24/7. Access to newspapers/magazines was very good. The fruit in our room was not fresh when we arrived and was refreshed at all during our stay. By the time we left, 5 days later, the mandarin was almost black. If this service is being offered it should be upheld or just don't offer it. Waiting for lifts was sometimes frustratingly slow and often the lifts were full to maximum. Housekeeping was excellent as was room service. Our room service meal was excellent.

Quite possibly the first time I've ever been disappointed with a Shangri La stay. The staff put in almost no effort at all. Everyone seemed jaded and lacked any sort of enthusiasm.

When staying at a Shangri La, you expect service to go above and beyond. Sadly, I did not see it this time.

The morning we flew in, we left something in the cab that we arrived in. Apart from the fact that we had to carry our bags into the lobby, it took almost half a day to identify the taxi that dropped us off (my mistake partly for not taking a receipt). I figured when the staff closed my taxi doors to welcome us in, that they may have checked the seat for anything left behind.

I take that on myself. I don't however appreciate the lack of interest of the staff in helping us locate the taxi. They were constantly preoccupied with other things and very shortly after a shift change, the next batch of staff had not been informed of the situation. We had to explain everything over again and to our dismay, this was never sorted out. We had to follow up with the staff multiple times to get a response.

Apart from that, the room was dusty, and as I am allergic to dust, it wasn't very pleasant. I brought it up with the staff, but the room remained the same.
Our room safe was broken and I had to request it to be fixed. Towels were not topped up, so I had to request for new ones (which also took 30 mins to get to us).

I had messages left for me on my phone, all of which were not delivered too me. It is not acceptable to call the front desk to get a "I'm not sure, let me check and get back to you" only to never get a call back.

The location and the view were the only things I was happy with this stay. Otherwise, for the rates we paid, I don't think I will be coming back here.

Terrific experience. Staff was welcoming, helpful, professional, courteous. They attended to every need. Our room was ready early. It was clean and beautiful. We required a cot, which was provide promptly with clean sheets and a set of baby shampoo, lotion, powder. Food was delicious. Pool was clean, comfortable, in lovely setting. Really not a bad thing to say!

Overall experience about Horizon club guest room was extremly good except check-in process. I have checked in through the reception at lobby which was not really good due to the less kind receptionist. Other than that, I would say excellent service through out the stay. If I knew that I can check in with the horizon club room service at level 30 I would not go to the reception at the lobby. I will definately come back with horizon club guest room.

This is the most beautiful hotel and I recommend it highly. The staff are presented meticulously and are extremely friendly, making you feel special the moment you arrive. The rooms are comfortable and if you get a view, its spectacular. The bathroom is spacious with lovely amenities. The room service menu is extensive and has everything you could want, including a great kids menu. This hotel is really remarkable in its customer service and I'm really happy I got to stay here.

Payment for the room plus a $100 bond was taken from my account which is completely reasonable. However another $400 has been taken out of my account to pay for the room and I still haven t received my money back from the bond which was 5 days ago. I am disgusted that you think that this is acceptable especially being so close to Christmas

Not usually one to do negative reviews, however for the price we paid for this stay we were very let down! Old rooms with no assistant in getting our numerous suitcases to the room along with a few smaller issues.
The views were beautiful however.
Highly suggest for the price, staying at Four seasons right next door. The staff are beyond helpful and the rooms are immaculate.

Overall our recent stay was very good. We were able to check in early at 12pm which was appreciated and the check in process was relatively well managed.

The only points that were a little disappointing but not necessarily bad form was that after waiting for our bags to be brought up for 20mins, after being assured they would, I had to go back down to the lobby and retrieve them myself.

Additionally, whilst we were given early check in, we were told at about 1030am that someone would call when our room was ready at around 12pm. We arrived back to the hotel at about 1150am and waited but at 1220pm, no one phoned us. Thankfully after approaching the check in desk, I was advised my room was ready and all was good.

My only reason for raising these two points is not to complain but rather highlight that these issues are not part of the exceptional service I have come to experience from Shangri-La in the past, especially when staying in a Club Room.

This is my third stay. No complains so far. The desk clerks, receptionists and staff at the reception desk are so courteous and professional, and the hotel's large rooms and suites are super comfortable. In addition, the gym beside the beautiful swimming pool. Highly recommended

the hotel was nice, some issues during our stay. There were no glasses in our room, no iron or ironing board. I asked for an iron/iron board - someone brought up the iron/iron board. When I asked for ice and 2 glasses I received the ice but no glasses....... the entry/exit changing during the days made entering and exiting confusing, Also the small breakfast menu was very boring after a longer stay

My most memorable moment was the smoked salmon I had for breakfast. If the Chef had made it then it was amazing and smoked to perfection. If it was made elsewhere then you have a very good supplier.

My room was 2610 and when I woke up to the harbour view of Opera House and Harbour Bridge which is a irreplaceable priceless moment.

My unimpressed moment is the staff that cleared my plates during breakfast, with no smile and she dropped the plate loudly on the table and didn't even apologise. On the other hand Hannah was fantastic she was friendly efficient and was ensuring all guests are looked after. Please pass compliments to her.

Mini break recently. Requested a baby cot on reservation, on checkin, on arrival into the room, then 3 more times by phone, then got the duty manager on the phone. Were eventually told one wasn t available. Could ve told us that several hours before so we weren t sitting in the room waiting to put our baby to bed. Eventually after venting my frustration I was told that one would be sourced by removing from another guest s room. A hotel of this repute would have the audacity to request a guest give up this amenity? Or more likely spinning a convenient lie to us? I wasn t born yesterday.

Emailed the resident manager. Got a defensive and entirely unapologetic reply.

I don t feel the meaning of hospitality is in the mission of this establishment.

The executive lounge and its staff were nice enough especially Sheikh.

This is clearly a management issue.

Excellent staff, only issue was with toilet leak when it was flushed which I fixed myself (simple fix and didn t bother to tell staff) but I guess probably could have been checked between arrivals. Overall though excellent place and the staff were second to none. Thank you so much for the experience

We have stayed at Hotels all over the world. The Shangri-La Hotel is one of our favorites. We are always extremely happy with our stay, and continues to be our No1 Hotel in Sydney. Thank you very much to the Shangri-La staff for looking after us for our Anniversary and for the bottle of Champagne upon our arrival.

Check in and check out were seamless. Bellman offered help when he happened to enter the elevator as we were bringing our luggage down for check out. He took care of the luggage and found us a taxi. Housekeeping was also very good-appreciated the bottled water. We had a fantastic dinner at Altitude-great food and service. We had a drink at Blu-that was the only subpar experience. It was not a relaxing experience-the drinks weren't very good and we were made to feel that we were in the way by the person who seated us. I understand that the tables by the windows are in demand, but we didn't even request one of those windows-simply wanted a drink before dinner. In the future, would just wait and have one in the restaurant.

We had a lovely stay over 2 nights for our 30th Wedding anniversary. The room was very comfortable and we had a lovely City-Opera House view. We had drinks on both nights on Level 36 and the seafood buffet and breakfast. We were very happy with the service and the check in-check out experience. I had visited many times to have high tea but never stayed the night before. We thought the value for money was excellent. We would love to stay again!

Excellent service! Once I've entered the room, I've noticed a letter from the general manager of Sydney hotel talking about the lift replacement project and advance apology for future delays.
I have then met him in person near the lift when he politely apologized again! what a good gesture!

The view was great. Drink service was slow and the waiting list for window side tables was not explained. Prices were average for a hotel. That being said, you don't go there for the drink service, you go there for the view and it's incredible.

Somehow there's a mistake when booking the room, was meant to book a club room but ended up booking a standard room. To upgrade to the club room cost $800, it doesn't even make sense when it's only $50-80 difference when booking online. Also the receptionist wasn't helpful at all, not good enough for so called 5 star hotel.

The hotel is very nice and the service is complete but not free. The rooms are often spacious and clean. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are quiet. The hotel views are distinctive on the Sydney Opera House and the bridge is close to the port. We do not need a car to discover the city.

We stayed here for five nights during the new year's celebration and it was the most frustrating experience. The only shimmer of hope for this hotel is the concierge staff which are amazing.

The general staff are relatively rude, seem only to be interested in upcharging, and lack the basic knowledge to answer questions like "will we be able to see fireworks from our room." We were told we would not see fireworks from the room and then asked to pay $4,000 USD to upgrade. When we did not and my parents retired early as the weather was pounding this year, they had an excellent view just not of the bridge. When we asked for a bucket of ice at noon we were told it would be a $10 delivery charge. After being shocked on the phone the staff member finally told me there was free ice in the lobby. Are they just trying to gauge you at every corner?

The hotel room we had smelled of body odor and we had to request special cleaning almost every day. The decor is dated and generally old and worn.

5 stars for a 5 star experience.

5 stars for a 5 star experience.

Although did come at a bit of a hit to the wallet, the harbour view bridge room did live up to my expectations. The complimentary bottle of champagne was well received.

A spectacular view is on offer from the rooftop bar and is most definitley worth checking out for a cocktail at dusk if your lucky enough to be staying at this fine establishment.

All in all a fantastic experience and perfect for that extra special getaway in the hot mess that is the Sydney CBD.

The service is really good, the price is match their stars. After back from blue mountain I ask for 5 bottles of water, then they give me this many. I don t think there are exist second hotel like this. The cleaning is also very good and careful. Every time back to room, it s like a new room, and the bed is very comfortable, the bathtub is larger enough to afford 2 persons, live there for 7 days in 2017, I and my gf are very happy about this hotel
