Love the view from our room, tyhe staff was friendly. It was noit to far of a walk to the harbor where the Opera House is and mere steps away from the Bridge where you can climb. If doing the restraunt upstairs I suggest booking it in advance. Well worth the stay.

The staff, accommodation and breakfast were fantastic! To improve: temperature of the swimming pool (should be a little higher), more equipment at the gym and the site should show the view of each room in order to avoid disappointment from customers.

The room was perfect, view was stunning!
Dinner at the Altitude was amazing.
Indoor pool - wife mentioned, women's change room not good for changing, very crowded, no where to get changed, just one little seat in front of lockers.
Sauna was not working in women's change room, wife was looking forward to it.
Breakfast - not happy with freshness of food, fruit salad had dried out, not enough of it. Also fresh orange juice did not taste like fresh orange juice - not drinkable.
Very happy with stay overall!

Overall I liked everything. Room was big, and child amenity, baby stroller prepared well, too. Even during dinner, the children were considerate, and the meal and night view were perfect. Although not directly in front of Circular Quay, it was not difficult to walk to many major tourist attractions. thanked.

We were exhausted when we arrived at 10:00 am and you had a room available for us!!!! Our view was just as described on the website. It was absolutely beautiful. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful to us.

The thing with Shangri-La is that they are basically all the same, so you know what to expect. The room was nice with an incredible view on Harbour Bridge and Opera House. The breakfast was kinda disappointing; not many choices compared to other Shangri-La in Asia, no eggs station, and the restaurant was overcrowded. Some staff at the front should learn to smile and be a bit more friendly.

Staff at Reception were just lovely and very helpful. Especially the gentlemen which we think had an Arabic background. .....sadly we are unable to remember his name...but he worked along side Poonam...at the express checkout counter. Both were so helpful and very welcoming. Also room service staff were lovely. Our view of the harbour was exquisite which made our stay very enjoyable and relaxing. The room was also very comfortable for one night.
The only downfall was the room service menu - the chicken wings were overcooked and the wagyu beef burger was very dry.

High Teas are becoming increasingly popular for me...

High Teas are becoming increasingly popular for meeting friends, catch-ups and even the odd date. I was invited into the city for a very special afternoon at one of Sydney s luxury five-star hotels, Shangri-La.

Located just off the tourist mecca of The Rocks, the Shangri-La Hotel offers luxury at its very best. Decorated throughout in a soft colour scheme of modern earth tones using greens and browns, the lobby in which tea is served is an intimate and ambient environment.

Traditional afternoon tea is $42, add a glass of Chandon NV Brut for $8 or add $20 for a glass of Taittinger Brut Champagne. Or why not try the wickedly sweet chocolate afternoon tea for two at $62.

From the Dilmah tea menu we opted for the blueberry and pomegranate, lychee with rose and almond and finally the Italian almond tea. Mind you there were 18 to choose from and it took some time to decide.

Who would have thought sandwiches, scones and tea could be so distracting. Out of the sandwiches, my favourite had to be the miniature smoked salmon, capers and cream cheese bagel. The chicken and leek coux and to the fun tomato, basil and goats cheese cone and a cradle vegetable salad with a vinaigrette pipit. The scones were warm and light as a feather with clotted cream and house made mixed berry preserve. The top tier showed a variety of delicious desserts beautifully presented. The mille-feuille, delive, verrine and an innovative green-tea macaron stole the spot-light, with its balance of flavours that melts in your taste-buds. We were delighted with the petite size of the sweets making us feel indulgent but not guilty.

If you are a guest staying at the hotel, you should be so lucky, high tea service is also available in your room. That s definitely a bonus, when you do not want to wear your Sunday s best and swap them for a fluffy white bathrobe and slippers over looking Sydney Harbour.

Amazing gym, pool and sauna facilities, the view from the room of Darling Harbour was stunning and the breakfast buffet was first class - well and truly exceeded expectations.

Staff were all friendly and helpful.

Great view, service was excellent.

Great view, service was excellent.
I have a few suggestions:

1. Update the speaker system in the room- the dock was for an iPhone 4- it was a bit frustrating to not be able to listen to music whilst having a champagne!
2. The tv system was temperamental. Remote barely worked. I d highly recommend updating the system as well- especially for the price I paid for the room.
3. Again, paying the High price for the room and not having breakfast included, rather disappointing.

Valet polite and good on arrival.

Valet polite and good on arrival.
Check in we were "offered" a package that included a downgrade cheaper price room on the Darling Harbour side that would be a view of buildings, traffic and little else. I can only imagine this is hotel policy to offer the deluxe for a premium price for late comers. I booked and paid around 6 weeks ago to be told that we were on the 5th floor rather than the 13th and our view would be obscured. Very poor, unprofessional and quite frankly an insult.
Brunch was fantastic, cannot say a bad word and this I would recommend. As a matter of fact I will be bringing my mother along for Christmas.
We had left our bags earlier at 12pm, so when we checked in at 3.20pm we were given our room. We asked for our bags then waited over 20 minutes, having to call again to see when they were coming.
The room was clean, well appointed and the view very good. I called service for an ice bucket for drinks. This also took over 20 minutes to arrive and 2 calls.
We headed to Bar 36 later that night. I asked the bartender for a Wild Turkey and coke to be told there was no Turkey. No bother I asked what other whiskeys he had to then be pushed a menu and told that I could have a look at the menu. After waiting a further 5 minutes we walked away to have 2 glasses of warm water from your servery.
We spotted a vacant seat near the window so walked over. My partner was stopped before we got to the seat to be told " minimum spend to have that seat is $100" I had $1000 cash in my wallet and if left alone and not accosted, would have spent far more than $100. We then went to our room in disgust.
My partner has told me about the Shangri La over the last 2 years as being the hotel she would love to stay at. This was a surprise for her Birthday.
I'm glad I only booked 1 night.

Check in staff advised at 8am early check in not available and to return at 11am. Upon returning at 10.30 and waiting in chairs, a staff member noticed how tired we were and followed up to ensure we could get early check in, bringing us some water which was very appreciated. Horizon club staff are a credit to the hotel, particularly Jerry who is so personable. Room lovely and spacious with fab view and quality products... only area for improvement would be for USB compatible TV.

First we appreciate the team on helping us getting the room changed as my boyfriend travel agency booked a wrong room type for him and we got a king room upon my arrival. Your team also helped to move or room. Appreciate the arrangement.

Down side, It was very noisy on our last night stay. People were talking very loud after mid night and early in the morning in the corridor. Kept hearing heavy steps from the above floor. Believe the noise proof is not that good with the hotel room. Very bad rest.
Called the service centre for water on my arrival, it took 40 mins to be arrived. Understand its complementary. I called the services centre 3 times to chase that and on the second time i called, the gentleman said it will be around 20 mins wait for the water. But i said i already waited for 20 mins and he said oh, i will check again. First, why it needs to wait for 20 mins to just asked for water, its actually quite long, and second, i already waited for 20 mins and still not getting anything.

Incredibly slow service, waiting on the basics of a High Tea - including the tea/coffee itself, fresh cups, spoons etc.

Presentation of the food was fun but the food itself was surprisingly poor. Most didn't look (some pre-wrapped) or taste as though they'd been prepared on-site - something you are expecting to pay for. The sandwiches had close to no filling and the croquettes were just bland.

The sweets were a pure sugar overload to the point where we didn't touch half of them and the scones were under-baked.

Overall, for the price and the reputation of the Shangri-La we were incredibly disappointed - basics like the quality of the foo

Definitely not worth 5stars! The only positive not...

Definitely not worth 5stars! The only positive note was the amazing view from the room and Restaurant, but all the rest is not what you would expect from a 5stars hotel. I made a reservation at the hotel in occasion of my boyfriend 30th Birthday, making sure to organize every Single details for a best birthday gift and surprise. Once arrived, we found a bottle of sparkling in the room and this was actually very appreciated! However, as for personal opinion, a little personalized card would ve completed a 5stars treat. There was no much information in the room regarding hotels as well as no more information have been provided up on check in. No robes were provided in the room and I believe the air con was not working, room was so cold and we were freezing during the night. Receptionist at the spa was lovely, professional and very helpful but the spa facilities was disappointing, we couldn t used the pool as temperature was too cold. Also the Sauna in the female changing room was out of order and this was a miss information too. Finally then we went at the Altitude restaurant for dinner. I made the reservation at the restaurant over the phone, making sure to also organize something nice for my boyfriend s birthday and I follow up with emails regarding a birthday plate to receive as surprise. I saw so many pictures on Instagram of people celebrating special occasion and so nice birthday plate received at this restaurant, but for us has been different. Basically the restaurant was not aware of the birthday which I found it quite disappointing. We booked a table next to the window after making a prepayment of $500, the view was amazing and the staff all very friendly, But the food and plate was definitely not a fine dining experience and not worth for the price we paid. however, almost at the end of the experience, we received a wrong dessert followed by the wine pairing. The dessert was changed to the correct one but for the wine we had to ask to. After having the desserts, about 30mins later no birthday plate was received yet. Restaurant was already empty and ready to close and we was about to ask for the bill, so I realized that my special request For a birthday plate was forgotten.(birthday plate that I wanted to pay ) I had to tell the waiter but this was unpleasant and not a surprise for my boyfriend any longer. We waited about more than 20mins to receive the birthday plate and it was disappointing too so we didn t even touch it and we asked for the bill and this was changed the atmosphere. After all of this, on the bill we were also overcharged!!
So frustrating experience, I spoke with a duty manager that evening and with the assistant restaurant manager the day after, but not very helpful. The assistant manager was Actually telling that the birthday plate was not forgotten but that they usually bring that after the dessert. Obviously, that was not our case, as after half an hour of having the dessert no one was coming with this if I wouldn t asked.
I Just feel they didn t want to Understand the issue and the unpleasant experience we had.
Not recommended and definitely we won t come back!

The hotel was amazing, the staff are so friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was great, lots of variety! The room and the view were to die for. The only complaints i would have is that the house keeping people opened the door and put her head into the room after we had only been there for a couple of hours. We had just gotten out of the shower and as they had already previously visited the room while we were out we were a little annoyed. The plumbing in the room also had an issue, i had a bath and when i let out the plug the water started gushing out of the floor drain which was a little scary as i couldn't get the plug back in at first lol. But other then those small issues the stay was amazing and we will definitely stay again!

When we checked in, front desk made a big deal of being able to get us an early check in (requested prior). They made us wait for about an hour, before telling us to just eat first and come back. We just came from a long flight. We were hungry. Wish they just told us from the start that they couldn't do the early check in.

We had a leaking ceiling in our room. It took several calls and fruitless attempts to dry our carpet before someone actually started talking to us about a room transfer. And even then, the best that was done for us was to give us a room with smaller beds. Yes, it was technically an upgrade because of the view. But the other alternative is to have us endure the night in a room with moist carpet.

Housekeeping wasn't very good. Our room got daily complimentary water and fruits. While our parents' room, which we paid more for, didn't get any!

Despite all these, not much was done for us. Very disappointing.

We couldn't fault our experience in the hotel. We're upgraded to the Harbour View room with full view of both the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. It was magical at night and surreal during sunrise. Room was spacious especially for our baby daughter who likes to crawl around and explore. The services from the front desk at the time of our check-in was exceptional and beyond our expectation. 10 out of 10.

Stay here at least once a year and I have to say that compared to previous stays I felt that the service level had dropped. Overall everything was okay but I found the attentitivness of the staff and the quality of food in the Horizon Club had dropped below expectations based on previous experiences.

For the price of $1300 a night even on NYE, and compared with hotels overseas I think the Shangri La Sydney is way behind the times.

Very average humid indoor pool, non existent outdoor lounge areas. Rooms were OK but really it`s just a normal $280 - $300 a night hotel.

I was booked into a dirty room with adjacent room unlocked and occupied. I then had to wait to be transferred into a new room and missed my work team dinner due to the delays. It didn't end there. After giving me $100 credit towards dinner (a kind and thoughtful act which I thought would rectify everything!), a very rude receptionist (not room service), failed to place my order which I had to chase again, resulting in 1 hour and 20 mins (minimum) wait and my dinner arriving at 9.55pm. I asked to speak to the manager which I was promised to happen, but unfortunately never took place. Upon checking out, I was asked how my stay was...much to their surprise when I told them that I wasn't happy :-(

Check in staff were inviting. Value for money was low compared to other hotels in similar (city centre) locations in Europe. No complimentary biscuits with the coffee/ tea in the room. All European hotel we have stayed at has this. Disappointing. Our confirmation receipt that we printed and intended to use for the address of the Hotel did not have the address stated on the receipt. This was very disappointing and I thought was basic information that should be included on a receipt. SHAME.
