Great food! To those who showed up on a National Holiday, don t get angry with the staff if they can t seat you because you didn t book a reservation. Especially when they are obviously busy. The food is a little pricey but worth it. It is as close to Bavarian original that I ve experience this side of the pond.

If I could give zero stars I would. This place is expensive and the food is nasty. The service is lacking. I have had authentic german food. This is not authentic German food at all. DO NOT waste your money by coming here.

Beef tips tiny and strange things under it. Waitress did not care. Did not serve well. Did not welcome us. Did not ask if we wished dessert or liked the food. My husband says do not order the beef tips. And hope you get a better waiter. We are very disappointed

The place is picturesque, the food disappointing, the soup had a slight burnt taste (similar to when it burns at the bottom of the pot) as did the "spatzels" ... the beef in 3 different dishes that we ordered, hard and dried (including goulash)dry beef with sauce. No dish had an iota of salt. Sad debut and farewell.

We were very pleasantly surprised at how authentic the traditional German food is here. The atmosphere and flavor of the dishes were just like we used to get in Germany. Great portions, great food, great service!

Amazing experience. The fried brie cheese was like no other, and the sauce that went with it was delicious as well, along with the rye.

The schnitzel was cooked perfectly, and the Rotkohl that I got was like how your grandmother would cook it.

I tried the strudel and the chocolate mouse, and both were very tasty.

The decor is very well done, and all of the staff is very friendly.

Wow! What a fantastic place! Delicious German food in a historic building right in the heart of New Braunfels. Great selection of beers and wines. We enjoyed talking with the young man playing the accordion. Not to be missed.

A simple menu (not a lot of choices) but excellent quality. Great beer selection. Sausage sampler platter is a good choice for a shareable appetizer. Live music, at least when I was there on a Friday night.

My favorite date night dinner place in New Braunfels! The atmosphere is cozy, the food is AMAZING, and if you go on the right night there s a live accordion player to serenade you. We usually get some version of the schnitzel and you have to get the potato dumplings!

This is a wonderful traditional German restaurant. The food is great. And the atmosphere is just like the ones in country. They have a wide selection of food and German wines & beer. You do need to make reservations. Best German food in the area!

The food was awesome. The menu although small is well curated to the point I had trouble deciding and wanted to try everything. They have a great beer selection. The wait staff was very attentive. Overall, I would highly recommend.

Went here for my SO and my 4th anniversary, and loved it so much we went back a while later to celebrate my 30th birthday. Got reservations both times and were seated immediately. All of the food was delicious, especially the fried Brie with marbled rye, the fried potatoes, and of course the schnitzel. The beer and wine selection is also very good. Best German food I ve had in New Braunfels so far.

Great German food in New Braunfels in an old settler's home! The pork schnitzel was awesome and the potato dumplings were pretty good. Definitely worth another stop next time we're in New Braunfels again!

The food here is outstanding. However, made a reservation for 7pm and we were seated 35 minutes later. The restaurant comped a free hors d'oeuvre. The ambience was excellent. Service, excellent. Overall, we will be going back.

Best German food I've had since I left Germany in 1986. Everything was fantastic, I had the cordon Bleu with fried potatoes and red cabbage along with a bowl of garlic soup which I've never seen in this country. My dining companion had the rinder goulash over spatzle. Good service, nice people, give it a try.

My husband and I had a nice dinner at this restaurant. We arrived late on a saturday night without a reservation. Thankfully they seated us very quickly. The service was good and friendly. We both had the pork schnitzel. Mine was with the hunter (jaeger) sauce on the side. I had cream of asparagus soup for starters and my husband had the house salad. I tasted the salad and absolutely loved the light salad dressing as did my husband . My soup was good though light on asparagus flavor. The potatoes were delicious and schnitzel was nice. My husband's was thinner than mine and a little over cooked. The only real complaint was the jaeger sauce. There was no love or effort put into the sauce. It was the saddest sauce I've ever had. Better not to serve an item you put so little effort in to preparing.

The staff were all really great and super polite. The place was really well decorated as well. The only reason for the 4 stars was my seating placement. I was sat right by the door leading to the kitchen. It was loud and super busy with people constantly rushing by me. It was very distracting. But other than that it was a great restaurant. And the beer choices were off the chain. The chicken cordon bleu was great. I will go back but I am definitely asking for a different place to sit.

Excellent authentic German cuisine. I had the sausage platter(Weisswurst and smoked Sausage) with sauerkraut and German potato salad, served up with rye bread and horseradish sauce, Absolutely delicious!!

I would Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic German meal.

On the negative side the decor of the restroom did not match the rest of the building.

Highly recommend Alpine Haus! Ordered the Jagerschnitzel and it totally reminded me of when we lived in Germany. Food was spot on and atmosphere was great! Gasthaus type setting. Staff was friendly.

The pork schnitzel with spicy brown gravy is excellent. The potato salad and red cabbage are excellent also. But my favorite item of the evening was the creamy mushroom soup. That was the best mushroom soup I've ever had!
Our waitress, Marie, was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I'll definitely be going back soon.
