Having lived in Germany, I m pretty picky about German restaurants. This one is, by far, the most authentic German food I ve had in Texas. The interior is great and they often have a live accordion player playing German music. It s a couple hours drive for me but well worth it for their schnitzel!

The rye bread is bomb, and I typically hate the bread. I had the Jaeger Schnitzel. My husband had the sauerbraten. We both loved our meals. They had a guy playing the accordion and singing. He was great. Decor and cleanliness were great! They gave us a free dessert for our anniversary.

My husband said we definitely need to come back when we're in in town again.

AMAZING German food. Excellent schnitzel. Probably the best red cabbage I have ever had? The sausage platter as a starter is almost required for a party of 4. The bottled German beer selection is good. Photos are of the German kitsch on the walls for decor. I have been to New Braunfels may times and some how I've missed this place until now. Please find it and give it a go.

At once the charm of the place fills you and the air feels like grandma's. But the excellent choice and long list of beers and wine made me as a child in a candy store. The food is well made and high quality. The sides follow the same suit when we found the potato dumplings and spatzle are obviously fresh made too. We very much enjoyed the music as well with our beer. My German relatives from out of town were impressed and service was perfect.

Small house restaurant. Walking in and waiting to be seated was awkward, there's no signs and had to wait for someone to come to the door. Besides that our server was very knowledgeable on the food and drinks, all around great dining experience. Definitely recommend trying. We got lucky and came in before 5pm so we didn't need a reservation

Excellent, authentic, and welcoming! Alpine Haus met, and exceeded, expectations. Talk about an experience! The coo coo bird clock was too cute. The food was excellent. We had the sausage platter, salad (so fresh), mushroom soup, and chicken cordon blue. We will definitely be back to enjoy excellent food and service.

Had an great lunch here. We enjoyed the beer selection, sausage appetizer and Jaguar schnitzels. Having lived in Germany, the schnitzel was on par, as well as the hunter sauce. However the spatzle was not. Also, no children s menu and slower service on the day we visited and as you can see by the photo. Almost empty. Worth a visit and your hard earned money.

I chose this restaurant for our wedding anniversary because my husband was raised on authentic German food and absolutely loves it. I made reservations and we arrived early, which was fine with the host. He seated us immediately. Then, we waited. Another couple arrived and was seated, but their server arrived soon after. I caught that server and asked if we were also his table. We weren t, but he told us he would find out who was. A woman arrived soon after and took our drink orders. Finally our server, Drew, who had been working at this restaurant for eight days, took our order. The food seemed to take forever to arrive, and Drew kept checking on it. When he finally served us, my Cordon Bleu was almost burned. It had passed that light golden brown color at least ten minutes prior. When I cut into it, my knife made mostly a crunching sound because the cutlet was mainly breading. The Swiss cheese was almost nonexistent and the chicken and ham slices were so dry in my mouth, it was tough to swallow. I sent it back and ate the side of sauerkraut (which was good). The Ranch dressing on my house salad was delicious. Drew was a good server and he comped my main course. The atmosphere was lovely. But I ll never go back. Where was the chef/owner?

What a little gem. Classy place with great exposed brick walls. Just fantastic ambiance. And the food is tremendous. Everything german you could ever want. There was not a single thing that fell short for us. The wine list is fun and slightly quirky, and save room for dessert. They are all made in- house and I suggest you get them all!!!! Be sure to book a table, its an intimate place with limited seating. I enthusiastically recommend Alpine Haus for an amazing evening.

I came here within a week of returning to America from Germany after spending about 2 weeks there. The food is accurate, and not only that, but phenomenal.

If only the servers knew what they had, as most of them do an awful job and can't wait to leave your table. It was not like this a few years ago, and it can be fixed. Still worth a visit.

It was my first time eating German food. Promise it did not disappoint! This place was highly recommend to me and I shall do the same! Give it a try if you love German food and want to give the cuisine a chance!

The food was okay considering the price but the service was subpar. Aside from correcting my German pronunciation like I should know better, and plopping himself down at our table to take our order, our server completely forgot to bring us our salads and then we had to ask him to bring our sides which he also forgot. If you have a lot of time on your hands and can wait for your food, check it out, the schnitzel was pretty good and so was the sausage plate appetizer.

The food was very good and very authentic. Also a really good wine list. Be aware, the a/c is NOT great and it was extremely warm inside. Our waitress did say they would be adding window units to help with the heat. Not sure the timetable on that though? It got very hot and stuffy with the restaurant full of people for dinner. I did feel a bit rushed after our meal...was planning on dessert but we were given our check instead by who I think was the owner? My guess is she was wanting to make room for more people. The building is small and limited on space. Our waitress was very nice and told us a lot of the history of the area.

This was a great little German restaurant. It's located in a house across from the historic Faust Hotel. The house is beautiful and cozy, the food is delicious. I had one of the schnitzel dishes which was perfect. We will definitely be coming back here.

I LOVE this place!! Red cabbage, schnitzel, that noodley potatoe hash brown looking thing... . I Always take ppl here 2 open their taste buds just like my fav italiano place in San Antonio called La Focaccia. You will not b disappointed!! Either place. Stay safe. Stay blessed.

Although the haus itself was quaint and enjoyable, the food was entirely flavorless... from the onion soup to the schnitzel to the specialty entrees to the sides, we needed to literally pour salt on everything to make it somewhat edible. The texture of the spatzle and potato dumplings was complete mush. The cake for dessert was a mountainous mess that further upset our stomachs. The only things they somehow managed to make perfectly were the red cabbage and sauerkraut. For such a dreadfully bland meal, it was criminally overpriced. Not even worthy of taking leftovers home. So very disappointed, will never waste our money here again.

Pretty good German food. But the patrons were rude, made racist comments, and requested to change tables to another section of the restaurant.
My family didn't feel comfortable and likely not return.

The schnitzel I ate was pure gristle. Gross! The server was not concerned with the quality and treated us as second class citizens. We were there within an hour of closing and it was obvious that she was ready to go home.

We have lived in SA since 2006. we visited Alpine Haus for the first time last night -our 34th anniversary. Honestly, it was the best meal we have ever had!!! The atmosphere and the attention to service was amazing. We will be back again and again!

Good food. As close to gasthaus from Germany (Bavaria) as you're gonna get. Not easily identifiable from the road. Not great parking. Friendly staff, and good atmosphere. Bring a coat if you're easily cold. Restroom and reservations available.

We wanted to meet the angels in the kitchen that were cooking! Never have we ever ate such wonderful food! Portions were large and now we have lunch for tomorrow. The cream of mushroom soup started the party in my mouth and the Alpine delight ended it. I could barely walk out due to being so full BUT it was worth every calorie and penny! My new favorite restaurant hands down!!!!! #germanroots

Well dont know how good the food is we were rudely turned away from the door. We didnt know it was reservation only restaraunt. We did find a nice place called the fork and spoon patio cafe. Great place if you want german or italian food.

Had the chicken breast sliced, very yummy. Intimate atmosphere. I probably would not bring young kids in, but that's just my own personal preference. The food was delicious, the beer too. I want to eat here again.

First time here and WOW!!! Everything was excellent. I usually would travel all the way to Fredericksburg Texas for German food, but now I'm staying in New Braunfels Texas for German food. Also, all the selections of German beers will have me back so I can try all of them. Outstanding small business in a great community. This place has been added to my "Favorites" list. Thank you Alpine Haus

Really neat local spot offering traditional german food. The ambiance is what makes this place feel special. Its tucked in an old home. Im personally not a huge fan of german food, but the chicken schnitzel was great. They suggest wine pairings for each entree & offer fresh bread. Reservations recommended.

A bottomless cheek, what the service has done. With such an attitude, she would only have the job in Germany for one day. A takeaway would be more suitable for them and not a restaurant like Alpine Haus. Food was good, service got better after our initial waitress got upset because I mentioned she could be more attentive to our beverage needs ... very sad that guests spend good money and have to be treated in a berating manner.
