Alpine Haus in New Braunfels was AH-mazing! Authenticity made German delicacies. I had the jager schnitzel with potato dumplings and pickled red cabbage...potatoes dumplings so soft, schnitzel with a perfect crispness and mushroom gravy. My meal came with a fresh house salad with cracked pepper and vinaigrette and a basket of soft marble rye bread...so glad I stopped. There was dessert, but no more room in my tummy. Looking for a great lunch, dinner, or date spot...you have found it. Server gave great suggestions, friendly staff.
One happy camper, made getting out of work worth it!

This restaurant is the closest one to our home (walking distance), so when they first opened we were excited. We tried it and were disappointed at the quality of the food. We chalked it up to working out the kinks, and did not return until today.
We walked in and the women working there looked at us and rudely said, "Hey!" Not a "Hey, how are you doing," more like what are you doing here." Then, "do you have a reservation?" No we didn't, but I was already heading for the door. My husband said strike two, I said "No, that was stike two and three for me."
I don't care where you are from or how good you think your restaurant is, if you can't be a good neighbor and a friendly member of my community....good bye forever.

This is an awesome little German restaurant. They have truly authentic dishes including schnitzel with spatzle, German potato salad and sourcraut. It is not cheap but if you have been to Germany are looking for your "German fix", this is the best place in entire Central Texas - hill country area. They even give you the option of your schnitzel being veal, pork or chicken.

Excellent service and delicious foods pair together in a quaint historic home. awesome place and although it is a little pricey ($110 for two adults with beer and tip included) I will return again soon.

What a gem! From the second we entered the restaurant we saw tables of smiling patrons conversing between bites and heard a lively accordion player serenading the main dining room. The menu is focused and dishes are authentic and well practiced. Staff and other customers were friendly and generous. It was such a delight, the only disappointment is that they re so far away from my home (although that is clearly beyond their control).

I will gladly take the drive in the future to return to this delightful place the next time I m craving a warm, comforting meal that reminds me of my travels abroad.

This is a wonderful little German restaurant owned by a German family which sells authentic meals with German recipes. The menu selection appears small at first glance, but has a wide variety of flavors and options all with exquisite taste. The wine and beer selection is impressive, and the food is all delicious. The restaurant ambiance is also very nice, with some live German music played on the accordion in the background. A classy and delicious restaurant worth visiting again.

Delicious

First time visit for myself, second visit for my boyfriend. Our server was knowledgeable and professional. We both enjoyed their cream of asparagus soup with chicken! It was piping hot and flavorful. We both ordered 2 different styles of schnitzel and WOW they were amazing! We took the apple strudel to-go and even a day later the crust was light and flaky. The building though old, was well maintained, clean and organized. The fresh flowers on every table was a nice touch. We will definately be back!

This small quaint restaurant is nestled near downtown New Braunfels, TX. and was a pleasant surprise. The food is probably the best authentic german food I have found in the U.S. thus far. Each of the diners tried a different entree and we shared so we could try them all. I think we all agreed everything was good and could not pick a favorite. Speaking of favorites, If you like brie the appetizer while pricey is amazing. A wheel of brie baked with a crunchy toasted almond top and spicy preserves to spread over marbled bread could have been my entire meal including dessert. Staff was efficient and friendly and the accordionist that wandered around playing was talented and played at the perfect volume to be enjoyable.
Highly recommend.

We visited the Alpine House for the first time last weekend and had a delicious meal. We ordered the sauerbraten and the rinder goulash and both were excellent. The host was gracious and the young woman that brought us our meals was very friendly and polite. We'll definitely be going back as often as we can!

Sorry there are no pictures we devoured our food and then went oh no we didn't get any pictures. The food was fantastic and it brought back memories of my grandfather. The kraut was so fresh and tasty definitely not from a jar or can.

This restaurant is a very nice, eclectic German place. We didn t know it had a small environment so reservations are recommended. They still made a way for us to sit without having to wait long. The FOOD is incredible. I ve had German food numerous times in Germany and I can t tell the difference in the quality and taste presented here. It is superiorly tasteful and noticeably high class in their quality and presentation.

A wonderful place to go! Friendly staff, good atmosphere and awesome authentic German food. It is a small restaurant, set back from the road in an old house. Seating is limited but worth the wait. Parking is also limited, better for a group to carpool. Have the dessert, you deserve it and you won't regret it. Then before you hop in your car, walk down the street to the bakery, I can't remember the name, they can guide you. Pick up some fresh bread that they serve at the Alpine Haus and some cookies and some...

What a joy to find this place! We were actually just driving down the street and I saw a small sign, but too late to turn in, so I took the next right and made my way back around to the main drag. It was well worth making the little loopback! I now believe that no visit to New Braunfels would be complete without a stop here.

Don t let them sit you by the front door, it doesn t latch. The average customer fiddles with it 2 or 3 times before giving up. The staff gave up and just leave it open for the wind to blow open. The food was ok.

Super quaint, cozy restaurant with to die for food! We had the mushrooms, house salads with a dynamite dill vinaigrette, bratwurst, amazing potato salad and the Black Forest cake. Everything was exceptional, including the service and the accordion player! This will be a regular stop for us from now on.
