To all of my brides out there definitely think twice before contacting this venue. I made multiple trips to allenberry to plan my wedding for this upcoming fall 2018. To make a long story short abruptly in the middle of our planning allenberry changed their management and I only found this out by leaving multiple voicemails and emails to then recovery a email back over a week later that we would have to start from scratch and begin the process again. They host two weddings in one day which wasn't a deal breaker for me after I walked the grounds. However don't be the second bride of the day because you will get shafted in everyway. The first bride of the day gets to pick her start time and all the locations. To then leave the second bride with minimal spots to pick from. I was promised certain locations that were then taken away. I have had to start all over with 7 months countdown and it has been a headache!!! Ladies and gents stear clear of this venue.

We stayed overnight for a quick evening away. Room was very nice! Customer service of the staff was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and genuine. We ate at the restaurant and the food and service was very good. Our waitress was very very good. Super professional and still very personable. We also made a cost to the spa and the service was also very good. Everyone was friendly and the massage was done very well. Would definitely recommend and plan to return!

The Allenberry is an American Treasure! All fisherman should make it a point to stay here for the whitefly hatch or really any hatch. The property is so beautiful and historic. The stream is timeless.

I am specifically reviewing the Stone Lodge Tavern restaurant here - the place is under new ownership and some incredible renovation, so not everything is open quite yet. Really, really great food at the Tavern and a great wine/mixed drink selection - surprisingly reasonable prices on everything. I highly recommend - my wife and I went for our anniversary and the atmosphere was nice and quiet but not overly formal.

I would give more stars if possible! My husband and I received the best service! This is a long review, but worth telling the details. We visited Allenberry Resort as a road trip, a few day get away. We arrived at night and I appreciated the well lit signage and thought the lights strung through the resort is such a beautiful, fun touch. Our room was clean and just as pictured online. At this point, I was a happy guest. What happened next made me an elated guest!

Next morning we were snowed in with winter weather warnings till evening. We had plans to go see some of the local sites that day, but decided to stay in and stopped by the restaurant for lunch. Driving out seemed risky. Due to the weather they decided to close the restaurant for lunch and potentially open for dinner depending if the weather cleared up. Upon recognizing that we were staying on site and not safely able to travel the roads for food, Cody consulted the chef to see if they could do anything to make us a meal. The chef himself came to greet us and offered to make anything we wanted on the lunch menu. He made sure we understood it may take a little longer than normal as the equipment will need to warm up, but the staff was intent on making sure we were well taken care of. Cody (doesn't work in the restaurant) took our drink order and spent some time telling us about all the fun activities the resort offers and answering our questions. We were impressed! Never felt like a burden (being one of the only patrons they would have that afteroon). The chef delivered our meal and even shared his plans for the dinner menu. The food was delicious! So good, we didn't go offsite to eat anywhere else the remainder of our trip. We truly felt like welcomed guests.

I spent quite a bit of time in the lobby that day, as I had nowhere else to go but to watch TV in our suite. I stayed there and worked a puzzle made available instead of returning to my room. While there, I was greeted by various staff and every so often asked if I was doing ok or if they could get me anything. We enjoyed some coffee and pastries from the cafe and stayed warm in the cozy lobby. I was also able to have a conversation with a lady on the desk staff who shared some of the site history. She showed such passion for the location and her experience at Allenberry. I was glad that the weather allowed us to have these experiences we would have never been able to have if the site was busy. I can tell it would have still been pleasant if the resort was busy, we just wouldn't have bothered to ask questions or spend time in the lobby/cafe.

For dinner the staffing was short due to the weather. I watched the chef and one other server/bartender (who we later found out was the restaurant manager), skillfully take care of all the restaurant. Once again the food and ambiance was perfect. That day was a best in class experience for us! Something we will not soon forget.

The weather cleared the next day and we joined the restaurant again for lunch and dinner. Rounding out or time at Allenberry with attending the theater production in the evening. Everything from the amenities, to the service, to the entertainment was wonderful. We will definitely be back and look forward to our next visit. Thank you Allenberry for making our getaway one to remember!

We spent our 10 year wedding anniversary weekend at Allenberry Resort. We stayed in the Still House along the Yellow Breeches which was the perfect setting for our weekend. The Barn Restaurant was excellent as well with outdoor seating and live entertainment each night. It was a memorable experience that I am sure that we will do again!

Was here for a wedding. Beautiful setting with rustic old buildings and a stream in back. Nicely decorated. Very helpful staff who offered to help with anything needed. Several options to choose from from single rooms to cabins where several people in the family stayed. Lovely!

VERY, VERY NICE. The room was nice; the people even nicer. The Barn restaurant served an excellent Sunday brunch that featured local and sustainable foods. It is an excellent place to stay if visiting your child at Dickinson!

The staff at Allenberry is amazing. Each staff member we encountered was engaging, courteous, and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. We had a minor issue and it was handled promptly. The food was amazing, the property is beautiful, the town is charming, and the staff is second to none. If you are looking for a quiet fall getaway, please book a spot at Allenberry. This place is a hidden gem and I can't wait to return!

Loved the Playhouse.
The sound was great for a small theater.
Very intimate yet the scenery was well done.
We will return for additional performances.

Great location on a creek with corn fields next door. Great looking historic buildings on the site. Our room in meadow lodge was small but comfortable bed. The smell was off and no fan in bathroom did not help. I think that building needs a refresh in general. Staff was very nice. Close to AT.

We stopped by to have a couple of drinks to see what the Barn had to offer. The bartender, Chantal, was so gracious and showed us the different banquet rooms and Pub area downstairs. It was absolutely beautiful! We noticed that several folks at the bar and dining room had great looking sandwiches and salads. We will definitely tell our friends and go back for another visit...to eat this time!

Beautiful, peaceful, restorative. Very friendly and kind staff. Excellent restaurant on site. Though my daughter and I only stayed one night, this place gave us just what we needed to relax and restore after 11 1/2 hours of driving from Georgia, before resuming our drive to NYC. We were able to enjoy the beautiful grounds, a wonderful meal, and a restful evening. Highly recommend!

Went to a catered event there and was amazed by how beautiful the area was, even inside the buildings as well. The catering was very impressive, environment was classy, food was AMAZING, and staff were very friendly and welcoming. There could not have been a better place for this event! Allenberry has never looked better!

This resort is absolutely beautiful. I traveled to PA with family to attend a graduation at the local war college. The first hotel we stayed at was an absolute nightmare, and so we quickly searched for an alternative. I couldn't be more pleased to have found Allenberry.

The staff was professional, courteous, and fun. The owners were lovely (the wife even stopped by during dinner to provide us with 'smores kits' for the children with us and let us know they had prepped a fire out back for us). The grounds and actual rooms were extremely well maintained, and the cottages were beautiful (big 2 person jacuzzi tubs, spacious and stylish.

I live in MA but I'd just about drive back down to PA just to stay again. They made our mini vacation the best it could be.

Cafe was deserted, service was slow (10 minutes to get coffee and hot chocolate to our table), hot chocolate was only 2/3 full. Biscuit and egg sandwiches were excellent but it took 20 minutes to get them. Sweet rolls were very good. OK experience overall but we don't plan to return.

Allenberry has turned the corner and you will be AMAZED!

We visited several years ago and had a very bad experience. The place was falling apart. We saw a commercial and the pictures looked stunning, so we decided to give it another try for our 20-year anniversary. I called on a Tuesday night and was lucky enough to speak with Lindsay who recommended a private cotrage and an all-inclusive package with dinner and breakfast for our stay. She explained that the resort had recently undergone renovations and we would not be disappointed. Boy was she right! She also went above and beyond, taking great care to arrange our dinner reservations, offering some ideas for things to do, and even mailing us printed directions prior to our stay (because we're ancient and dont understand GPS). Lo and behold she greeted us by name with a welcoming smile and a huge "Happy Anniversary" at check-in. Even though she's young, that girl is a gem and should be rinning the place! Our cottage was roomy, clean, and comfortable, and we loved the bottle of wine and towel-swans waiting for us! There was even a hand-written not from Lindsay with her direct phone number should we need anything durinf our stay. We didn't need a THING because Allenberry (and Lindsay) had us covered. Our dinner was delicious, and both the restaurant manager and our server Zoe even congratulated us on 20 years. We caint wait to plan another trip soon, and highly recommend the new Allenberry!

The hotel bar and restaurant are completely revenovated. It is much more modern than its previous decour, but still a very enviting place. There are fireplaces throughout and fire pits outside. The food is excellent and is based off of local fair and seasonal. The calamari is without a doubt the best I have ever had. The venison sliders are the first deer meat I have ever tried at a restaurant. They far exceeded what i expected, having been used to home cooking of it. Wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items. I went with group from work. I cannot wait to take the wife.

Grounds and the entire facility is beautiful and is the only reason I gave it 2 stars. The food is some of the worst I ve ever had, and I have tried it on several occasions hoping it would improve. The service at the bar is terrible as well. My husband & I could hardly get waited on, and we had to flag down the bartender to ask for a menu even though we were sitting right in front of him.

My girlfriend and I recently visited the Allenberry Resort for the "Live the Stream" showing and paid an additional $40.00 a person for the After Party at the Carriage House to meet the guest of honor. The After Party started at 8pm and we stayed at the Carriage House till 9pm and felt the event was disorganized due to the guest of honor was still not at the party. It was very disappointing to pay the additional cost and not get what was advertised.

Disappointed. There is no denying that thus resort is a stunning, beautiful place. We went twice last year and Our previous trips were both beyond perfect with a well trained staff, present management, and a overall feeling of happiness, but it's changed. Service levels have gone downhill and the staff just doesn't seem to be as warm as they were a year ago. Lacked confidence and direction but tried! Servers and hotel staff are friendly, but do not go out of their way. Rooms were a little dusty and musty. No apparent leadership or management, and if there was, they sure didn't act it. Allenberry is running out of steam. Sad to see and hope they can turn it around.

Allenberry is wonderful place, but this is more about the playhouse. Last year, the performances were Broadway caliber but 2018 has been a disappointment. Although worth the money spent and talented performers, we have been spoiled with the 2017 schedule. The play 1940 did not showcase the talented group very well. We were disappointed and left at intermission.

I was not here in person. I live very close by. It came up as I was here. It's been since 2014 since I have actually been there. It was very nice back then and I liked the play I saw.

I've attended plays there before and enjoyed them. This time we saw "It Should Have Been You" and were very disappointed. The content was not advertised properly and we sat through a play that, as Christians, we found highly offensive. In the play they try hard to push the gay agenda as something "everyone is doing." Had they advertised it properly we would have not have wasted money on tickets only to be offended.

Great place to spend the day. So many things to do starting with an excellent brunch. Shout out to Theo and his recommendation for the vegetarian Eggs Benedict. Dont forget to check out a show at the playhouse.

What an incredible job they have done renovating this property! Cozy, beautiful and the attention to detail is extraordinary.

I was part of a party of six. We enjoyed a drink in the bar before dinner and received great service and perfect cocktails in the dimly-lit cozy bar.

Dinner was delicious. Again, detail a focus. We each ordered and shared appetizers. The watermelon salad was outstanding. Loved the hush puppies and the eggplant fries too. Loving the pretzel bites served before dinner arrives!

The main course was a hit as well. Each getting a different dish and all equally happy with our choices. I loved the vegetable napoleon. The sauce was lick-your-plate-worthy.

Desserts were yummy and our waitress, Jennifer was friendly and attentive.

We will definitely be back!!

Wow, what a hidden gem of a resort, so peaceful, clean and the service , food and people are fantastic! We stayed here for a couple of nights. Clearly a newly renovated product, I think the new ownership has really nailed it in returning this gem to it's original state. I WILL be back!

We stayed at Allenberry for a 4 day team building stay. Everything was great from the lodging, to the meals and service from all Alenberry staff! Cody was especially wonderful, he led our group through outdoor activities, as well as conversations to help define who we are as an organization.
Thank you!

The Chef does an outstanding job of creating farm to table dishes. He also caters to special dietary needs.the wine list is extensive and has very good selections. They have a variety of signature cocktails. The ambiance is wonderful and relaxing. There isn't anything I don't like about this place. Take someone you love for a special dinner.

Fabulous stay! We visited for a weekend-long regional meeting. The room was lovely , comfortable and relaxing. The restaurant's Fish & Chips were easily the best I've ever had. The lobby area is gorgeous. We can't wait to come up again for a relaxing stay.

I come here for the murder mystery weekend nearly every year, but as I get older, I realize that the mattresses desperately need tufted mattress toppers and sheets with a way higher thread count. The food is pretty good, and the murder mystery itself is always quite entertaining.

Celebrated a friend's birthday with a small group at Allenberry. Started with pedicures at the spa. A beautiful atmosphere, friendly and accommodating staff, first rate service. Dinner followed in the restaurant. Atmosphere was warm and intimate. Host and wait staff were both attentive and friendly. Food was excellent! I would highly recommend this destination for a special occasion or just a quiet and relaxing evening out.

In a time of uncertainty and inconsistency I turned to Allenberry to provide their brand of impeccable service and finely prepared menu. What I received was an example of an unprepared establishment that lacks experience and the normal standard of excellence.
I was first disappointed by the lack of outdoor seating and the desperate attempt to draw patrons with a showcase of a disneyesque singer consuming the outside patio. After my party of two was seated at a table meant for six, a bottle of the house Cabernet Sauvignon was ordered to help settle the disappointment of having to sit inside on what was a beautiful summer evening.
The waitress lacked experience and confidence and was not suitable for the amount of tables she was assigned. The service was slow and we eventually interacted with three different staff members to help expedite the stagnant time in which we received our food, desert and check.
The tenderloin was luke warm when presented and lacked flavor. The trout was bland and lacked substance. The potatoes were like nothing I have tasted and nothing I desire to taste again.
Desert was even more disappointing as the Hot Lava cake seemed to be prepared in a microwave and the "seasonal creme brulee" had an orange flavor with an under caramelized sugar topping.
After the disappointing presentation, we were left to sit waiting for our check for roughly 20 minutes until we felt it necessary to inform the host stand that we would like to pay for our overpriced experience and leave.
Overall I was extremely disappointed in our visit to one of the better restaurants in the area. I look forward to when Allenberry has all the pieces in place to provide the standards of excellence they have provided in the past. Right now is not that time.

AMAZING! From check in to dinner to sticky buns and scones, or stay was definitely fantastic. Most certainly a 4.5 star restaurant and chef, and one of the nicest accommodations we've ever had the pleasure to stay in (Still House). Every staff member went out of their way to make it a great stay, and we can't remember a comparable resort anywhere in the US, Hawaii, Asia or Europe!
