Albion Hotel Review

Awful service, awful facilities, awful experience. Tiny rooms, no amenities, bad side of Lincoln road, and the absolute rudest front desk. 4 different front desk staff and all were poorly trained with zero guest service. And worst of all, the place has an over whelning smell of mildew and urine the minute you walk in the door. If saving a few dollars is worth all this--good luck. You were warned.

Albion South Beach hotel ruined our Honeymoon. We booked through a travel agency this hotel on July, five months well in advance before our honeymoon in December. We liked that the hotel is ideally located in the hearth of South Beach. Just less than one week prior our honeymoon, Albion hotel informed our travel agency that they are OVERBOOKED and they can't take us! Excuse me, WHAT!?? As it's less than one week for our honeymoon you can guess that hotels in South Beach are well fully booked already. Therefore our travel agency managed to get us a hotel resort miles away north from Albion location. This is a huge disappointment for us. We put a lot of effort and looked so much forward for our once in a lifetime honeymoon!

Edit 2/19/2018: Albion hasn't even answered to my complaint send through their website.

The location is great! The hotel is alright. The rooms are really SMALL. The elevator recks of Marijuana.

Front desk employee Yasenia is extremely nasty. Not only did she turn her back to me suck her teeth and walk away from me because I was asking a question about the amenities but she was on her cell phone and told me to shut the F up and did not care if I called the hotel to let them know how poorly she treated me. A guest at this hotel for a week. I was so shocked I did not know what to say. Never again will I stay nor refer anyone to this hotel.

Pool was not clean had rust along pool walls. Bar didn't open till 5pm on a Saturday. Light fixtures in bedroom coming out .light switch in restroom coming out of wall hold right over the gtop of light switch

This hotel is in a perfect spot to not be too overpriced and not too cheap that you have to worry about leaving your room. This is also the only hotel on the beach that doesn't lie about their price with "Resort Fees"!! It is about 3 blocks away from the beach and next to a CVS, Ross,A liquor store, gift shop and a McDonald's all within less than 3 blocks. The staff seemed very friendly and attentive. My wife and i got the petit room which was exactly like what it sounds like. It was a pretty small room with a full size bed and very small fridge. There is no microwave, coffee maker or even much cabinet space. This is a very nice little room with a walk in closet and a decent bathroom for the cheapest you will find. I have not seen the regular room sizes but for the cost that we paid that was about $55 a night we were still happy. The pool is pretty big compared to some hotels in the area and clean.

It's a bit aged but perfectly clean and elegant. We booked a king bed room and ended up with a free upgrade to a penthouse. Not to oversell it, the penthouse is essentially a one bedroom suite with a balcony. Perfectly nice, but manage your expectations.

I felt like we got a good value and good service for a room that, while not luxurious, was clean, comfortable, and well above the bare essentials. Rooms on the east side can see water, though the beach is a block away and the view partially obstructed by other hotels.

Easy walking distance to the beach, the convention center, the performing arts center, the Botanical Gardens, and Lincoln Road Mall. The free trolley can get you most anywhere else on the island. We choose it because of SoBe's reputation for nightmarish parking and we didn't want to move the car any more than absolutely necessary.

Tip: Avoid the valet parking charge ($35) by parking in public garage G4, which is a block away and charges $16 for 24 hours.

Pro:
- Very good located in Miami Beach
- Next to the Beach and the Lincoln Road
- We received an upgrade for the Penthouse:):) Room therefore really nice

Contra:
- We paid to store our luggage (for only 1 hour)
- High prices (35$ per Night) for the valet parking
- the staff is not very friendly (they are speaking Spanish most of the time)
- filthy smell in the room and floor

I have been staying in the Albion Hotel for a long time, service is super, there is a parking lot on the other side of the road, the manager is super nice, the rooms are big and include 2 beds, a Tv, air conditioning and much more.
Shout out to Frank and Jorge, they always treat me as a friend and their service is super.

Rooms clean and secure. Maid service good. Not keen on the cocktail bar.

Cocktails were creative and tasty but they were very understaffed which hinderered our experience.

Wasnt as nice as pictures show. Pool was dirty elevators were broken bar isnt open as stated. The breakfast isnt free either 13 dollars a head for eggs and sausage. Rooms are small. Bathroom door wouldnt open fully. I was not pleased. Hall carpets downstairs were flooded and smelled very moldy.

The location excellent bed and cleanliness of the room well ... but I had to ask the toilet paper soap and shampoo because they only left one, we warned that the pool did not work two days before traveling ... also said in booking that It has transfer service to the airport and it's not like that ... they leave the trash in the corridors all morning, there was only one elevator, the walls were painted but without any duct, so no more than the imperfections, they do not give you any information hotel, nor had any consideration x not provide the service x the one we paid ...

Bathroom old and not comfortable at all.
Not possible to open the windows of the bedroom.
A lot of noise when sleeping.

Nice pool. Quiet and away from the ocean ave excitement. Free bus ride availability. Clean rooms, but the space was small.

Very pleased with the room and the accommodation, the only big minus is the breakfast which was downright bad

Hotel is an old 1930's vintage renovated hotel. Its okay. Rooms are small and fitness center is super small. It has location going for it but that's about it!

Really happy with this hotel. Perfectly situated, bigger room than we've had before in the same neighborhood. Pool is excellent, never too busy and good shade. Chilled vibe.

Convenient location. Very cute boutique hotel. Rated 4 of 5 because there was a damp/moldy smell in the halls as if there was a recent flood. The hotel was trying to rectify with dehumidifiers. If this was resolved, I'd definitely stay here again.

Great location..on a quiet street in the of SOBE POOL OPEN 24 hrs which is Wonderful. Customer service a bit lacking asked for a rollaway was not delivered till 2nd request. Could not check in with out a card needed to charge the full amount even though the 1st night was already charged. Smaller rooms than expected and No coffee pot in room... Gotta have my am coffee before anything. Bought Starbucks cold brew 1 blk away at CVS. Perfect location. All is good

We were in the lobby, at the bar, we did not stay. That single hotel space located on James Ave and Lincoln Rd., Is already appealing.

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!! Visiting for my first time ever in Miami from Chicago, this hotel had excellent reviews on the booking site including tons of pictures from the facility that appeared to be very pleasant. Arrival at the hotel was far from wonderful, no parking and no valet on site to assist in parking, upon entering the gentleman at the front desk was on the phone and texting. After patiently waiting I quickly realized customer service was not a priority here. Furthermore, I put all of that aside and welcomed the fact that we were upgraded to a suite.... little did I know it was more like a downgrade. The room we received is dirty the floors appear to not be cleaned in days, paint spattered and stained. The view is of a pool that is trashed and apparently under construction... listed in the very fine print. The hotel is hot and feels cramped. Hardly a suite. Called to cancel due to several disappointments with the property in which they stated the would only refund me $25 on a $300 room for 1 night. I do not recommend booking this hotel unless you re looking for constant disappointment. To say the least this is not a great way to start my first hour of vacation.

Great location. Super cute decor. The breakfast was good but wish they would have switched up the variations, got tired of eating eggs and sausage. The bathroom could use a little renovation but nothing extreme. The check out experience tried to aggravate me but the lady quickly realized I wasn't one to play with. Sign says check out noon, why are you calling me a million times after 11am and trying to threaten to charge me for another night was hilarious. Fix your signs! Check in was smooth tho. I'll return when the pool is finished being renovated

Best location ,awesome staff, amazing pool..Maximo the manager was very helpful to make are experience the best and we will be back , its the only place to stay in Miami!

Excellent hotel. I highly recommend it. It's on Lincoln, the shopping and restaurant street. Big pool.

Unfortunately I wasn t able to follow through with my trip but this will be my go to hotel in the near future due to covid19 my family has to quarantine. But we had missed the deadline.... Albion are not driven by financial gain... that s very rare amazing quality they honestly do good business. After all my research I heard nothing but great things at Albion. God bless this entire team.

You are close to the shopping street and the sea.
There is a valet for $ 35 a day.
There is a lift in the hotel.
We did not find the breakfast worth it. Eggs and sausages were cold. Few to choose from. Around the corner from the hotel there is a bakery where you can buy tastier things for less money.

It smells very musty and you can not even open a window in the room ... the bed was wonderful. And the staff very nice

NOT what I was expecting!!! When I first checked in I was sent to a petite room down a dirty hallway. I had to go back down to advised that I asked for a full size room with 2 beds. I was placed in my correct room, the furniture looks nice BUT i cant see out of my windows like AT ALL because they are covered in dirt, the bathroom is 2x smaller than shown online, the vents above the bed are COVERED with dust AND the bathtub stopper is broken and just sitting in the bathtub. Never will I ever book to stay here again!!!

Older hotel. Nice, central location. We had a smaller room, very humid. Nice, helpfull staff. Breakfast is more than ok for the price they sell it.

Good staff, very good cleaning of the rooms and a great location in south beach. No more than 5 min walk to the beach. The room prices are very cheap for the location. It could use a refurbish but that would proberly result in higher prices. The bar is nice but the price of drinks is a bit expensive and they include a 18% tip. Highly recommended to just go out for drinks!

Wifi: poor
Pool: not as nice as they pictures they show but nice place to take it easy. But often a long wait for towels.

Points: weak 4, 3.5 really but rounded it up.

Reason for the 3 stars is due to the poor kitchen and room service. I thought ordering room service would be a great idea but it was a miserable experience. I intended to order a chocolate cake and received a tirasmsu cake that was not appetizing at all. Hotel room was nice. Small but reasonably sized. Location was in a good spot. I would stay here again but not order room service

The worst service we ever expirienced traveling through US
-15 munutes before we our stay Was over, while we've been preparing to leave the room we've got A call with a reminder that we need to leave A room soon. So rude!
- we asked if we can leave A lugge, as it's normal in each hotel.Then we went to The room where A person from Staff told us that we NEED TO TIP FIRST. Really? In advance? He even suggested A stake,an when we gave less he became unpleasent.
-when A guy arrived with our car from The parking, we said hi to him. He never answeared....

Plus old room with unpleasent smell. Very uncomfortable bed.

Perfect location in the Miami Beach area, rooms unfortunately not up to par (the bathtub did not drain water). Exaggerated paying $ 5 for a bottle of water at the bar. Swimming pool under renovation.

Comfy beds. Spacious rooms with good counter space and accessible charging ports. High value. Close to the beach. Breakfast staff is very nice, though I got the sense that the front desk was a bit snooty. Would Def stay again

I booked 3 nights in your king size room on the fourth floor and on my last night there 2/28/2017 there was a pipe burst and a flood filled up 3/4 for the 4th floor hallway . Not only that but your fire alarm went off from 12:30am til 3am the staff seemed incompetent to deal with such a standard task . I blame the owner and management team very disappointed in my stay overall .

The room was comfortable and staff was friendly. They didn't have any utensils for us to use or toothpaste. Luckily, there is a CVS right across the street. Pool area was very beautiful and there was plenty of outdoor seating.

Very good. Very well located. Very handsome. Clean, large and comfortable. It has a huge pool with a great sunbathing area. The manager Giancarlo Bagucigalpo is incredible. Highly recommend.

Close to the beach and Lincoln Road mad affordable. Has a private beach area close by. It is very comfortable hotel with excellent staff and service. The people care about the guests.

My weekend was ruined by your staff. Check yelp this is my first ever review. Manager was great. Bell man Angel was very helpful. Valet and cleaning staff. But your front desk staff ruined my weekend. #NOTPETFRIENDLY #NOTEVENPEOPLEFRIENDLY

1. staff claimed you were a pet friendly hotel but I could not stay with my dog unless I had her entire medical history vet paperwork and complete vet file with me at the time of check in (which I did have at home 6 hours away bc no one told me I needed it at the time I booked the room and at the time I called the hotel to confirm it was pet friendly). By the way since you canceled my second night I stayed at #Dream #Dreamhotel #southbeach without ANY problems.

2. front desk staff member (I think name is Billy) told me i couldn't stay without paperwork. He told me this after i was checked in and getting bags up to room. He acted like a jerk. He Would not even listen to any suggestions or options I proposed. When i told him if you don't want my business I will leave but I want a refund he tell me I need to call hotels tonight 800 number my self and deal with it and he would not give me any paperwork to even explain to hotels tonight what happened to support a refund due to the misleading terms. After I show him my phone is dead since Ive been on the road for so long -- he points at the lobby phone and tells me to call hotel tonight and deal with it myself. That was completely out of line.

I will give Manager Carlos or Lucas his dues - he was nice enough to accommodate me because of the mis communication and the terms his hotel lists. But before he arrived there were two gentleman at the front desk. The latino staff member was a complete gentleman very nice and helpful. However, the head ache didnt stop there.

3. The next morning a different front desk staff member started calling my room at non stop starting 11:45 am; 12pm; 12:15pm; 12:30pm; 12:45pm continuously telling me check out was at 12pm. After I explained that I was given late check out yesterday for 1pm he cut me off and said there was no way I could have 1pm check out because he's the only one that authorizes late check outs. I asked him to pull my receipt and contract his hotel made me sign yesterday and then cal me back. When eh calls back he just says check out is at 12pm. when I asked him about the receipt he acknowledge it said 1pm check; acknowledge it was initialed and signed but he would to honor it since he didnt approve it. Although I did not agree I was already up and packing out things and should be out shortly. He kept calling and kept calling until I had to walk down stairs to confront him about how ridiculous this was. He continues to be a bigger jerk, irate, and telling me Check out is at 12pm. At this time it was 1pm; I was ready to check out; and I asked to speak with his manager again. I got him on the phone heard the whole I'm so sorry well address it. That was completely unacceptable.

Even with the headaches; I never once asked for any free upgrades or discounts because of your staffs actions or inconveniences; I even offered to pay additional to upgrade to the penthouse suite; i brought another customer later that to book a room because of your initial professionalism. This is after you canceled my second day and made me find a new hotel -- by the way #dreamhotel #southbeach was amazing from staff, to room, to rooftop pool and bar)canceled the second day of the reservation).

Medium way. No pool until late September 2018 ... however very well placed near Lincoln blv and Collins ave and the beach.

This hotel is conveniently located and has a beautiful lobby and a great bar. My room was clean, but it reeked of bleach and an unknown stench the entire stay. Valet for one day is $35.

This was the worst experience ever! Rooms were very loud the customer service was HORRIBLE ANDREW AT THE FROMT DESK IS VERY RUDE AND DESERVES TO BE FIRED I WILL NEVER RECCOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE THIS IS A VERY RUDE NASTY DISTURBING PLACE TO WASTE MONEY

The hotel is in a really great location where you can reach the Lincoln mall and the south beach in about 6-8 minutes walking distance. The reason behind taking off a star is because of the leak that comes out of the air-conditioner. Overall, go for it!

Stayed at the hotel for 4 days and 3 nights. The front desk didn't greet guest. One elevator was out and at one point both elevators were out. My friend and I took the stairs. We stayed on the 3rd floor..wasn't able to look out the windows, because the windows were dirty from the outside or fogged up the whole entire time. Valet service didn't help with bags. No washer or dryer for guest. Workout room was a box with one treadmill, Elliptical machine and free weights. Pool not so nice. Breakfast was pork sausage, eggs, yogurt, apples, bananas and assortment of pastries. Over all for the price the hotel should of had more to offer. When the front desk answer the phones they don't say good morning or good afternoon. Just seems like they aren't happy to be working there.

A small, very comfortable hotel in the perfect South Beach location, but really quiet. Definitely recommended!

Booked this hotel with Expedia to get the package deal and at first my girl and i were skeptical because of the "bad reviews" we kept noticing in the reviews that the hotel smells its so tiny and customer service are rude etc but in face it was all opposite. The hotel did not smell in fact if anything it smelled liked cleaning bleaching products which to me is a good thing cause that tells me the rooms/hotel is clean. Staff are AMAZING made us feel very welcomed if anything the rooms are small but still it is clean with a nice bed and a nice bathroom. and the location of the hotel is amazing. everything is walking distance . Will definitely be back again!!!
