ACCT Philly is by far the worst animal care facility in the city. The smell inside of their building rivals that of a slaughter house. Most of the animals currently at this facility appear to be either dead or dying, and the few dogs that they currently have that are up for adoption don t need to be there. The workers are rude and if you have the misfortune of loosing your pet they are, Not in the business of reuniting animals with their families as one of their customer service representatives stated to me earlier today. THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN.

If you're considering bringing an animal here to be taken care of, it will most likely end up dead. Do your research and take it to one of the several no kill shelters in the area. Hopefully they get enough complaints to one day be shut down

Rescuing hundreds of pets monthly! The problem we had was choosing: even after eliminating the pets we knew wouldn't work out there were ten good candidates for adoption left! (Be aware that this location is very... clinical. This is not the pretty kind of shelter you find in the suburbs. These animals need homes just as badly, though.)

This place is absolutely horrible. If there is a Hell for animals, this is it. The employee's and or volunteers are miserable and literally have zero desire to help you or help find the animals homes. There is zero passion shown from anyone who works there. They walk around like they are pissed to be there. They provide you with zero help whether it's with adopting or vet care. I took 2 of my male cats to be neutered there and they sent them both home drugged and they still have their balls and my one male had a bald spot on his foot and was limping, but neither were neutered. So honestly if you care about the well being of your animal do not take them there and go adopt from an organization who actually cares about the homeless pet population. If I could give them a rating of no stars I would. They deserve nothing.

It s a shelter, don t expect sunshine and roses. You could expect cleanliness and order but you won't find it. You will find animals in need and for that reason, go. Go and adopt. Go and Foster. Support your local rescue.

The reason for the poor review is way too long to explain here - but the animals need your help and that's the point I need heard more.

Adopted Poppi 2 weeks ago and it was a smooth and fantastic experience. Zena was our adoption specialist and she was very helpful and very honest about Poppi's possible behavior issues. Since adoption we renamed him Nova, he has adjusted perfectly, we've consistently been working on his mouthing, he loves the dog park and has even found a labradoodle girlfriend. His crate training has been a huge requirement in both his behavior and house training. He's adjusted well with children with no incident. Nova has gained weight and is a happy healthy loved family dog. He's waiting on his emotional support service dog vest and is making out to be a excellent pick!!! Thanks to ACCT and Zena!!! Would recommend adoption from ACCT to any loving patient family who will devote the time needed to a new baby.

Great staff, who actually care about the animals there. I went to get a cat and sadly there wasnt one that I liked and was able to come home but They said when i come back in a couple of days and if the cat i wanted feels better then I could. But that shows me that they put both the animal and your interest first. A+

Found to infant kittens in a yard. Called here to see if they could care for them because I wasn't able to bring them home with me. Guy straight out told me if I take them there they will be put down. I had no choice to take them home. ImI bottle feeding them. Kittens are no more them 3-4 weeks old. They have a great chance at life. They don't need to get killed. So sad they would even do that when kittens get adopted more than grown cats.
Shame on you all!

I brought my dad to this place in january and we looked around at the dogs. We saw this pitbull, named Sprinkles, all torn up from flees and hiding in the back. We went to meet her and I fell in love. Now, 10 months later, she's in perfect health and her skin is soft and beautiful. Adopting from ACCT Philly was the best decision of my life. The adoption process was short and the costs were quite low. I recommend this place to all my friends and refer strangers there whenever I can. Thank you for your service and for providing me with my best friend. I just wish I could volunteer, but Im 15 and minimum age is 16.

You guys are AMAZING!!!!! I cannot say THANK YOU enough. 2020 has been a really tough year for me. I was beyond devastated when I had to surrender my dog due to a pitbull attack that I could afford to continue to get care for. Thank you so much for helping my dog and allowing me to be able to get her back. My daughters were sooooo happy to get their doggy back. Again Thank You!!!!!

Called at 1:02pm to confirm kittens are available. Told yes. A sign on page saying to HURRY to adopt as you can see in provided picture. Get there, given attitude by staff and told kittens are too young. Thanks for shady practices. Now I get to handle two very upset kids for the weekend.

Adopted my little Shiba Inu from them when she was 7 months old back in October. A family had "Unrealistic expectations" and abandoned her. It breaks my heart, but I'm delighted to have my baby. The rescue knew about Shiba's and made sure that I understood the energy and independent streak that they have before the approved me. It is clear they are very caring for the animals. They have great foster parents (I found her through a friend who fostered her) and make sure that the dogs have what they need (medicine, toy, leash, food wise) before adoption is complete. They brought her out after her spaying, and she had no complications. They did a FANTASTIC job with the stitches on her spaying (our Vet approved!) and made sure we had all the paper work and everything we needed before we left. The adoption fee was minimal, so I added a small donation as a "thank you" for their careful and compassionate work. I wish I could do more. Happiest pup (yes, I'm biased but it's true!) and I'm the happiest owner from the experience.

Got my 2 babies/cats from here. 1st time I visited was for the free adoption. They shut down early that day because of the high volume of people coming on to adopt, so they gave me a voucher to come on another day. I did. Found a kitten and got the brother for free. I will definitely adopt here again and yes would and have already recommended. The customer service at the front desk wasn't that great but the employee that gave me the interview was awesome.

ACCT provides the TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) prog...

ACCT provides the TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) program for feral stray cats. The cats also get named, databased, photographed, immunized, fleadipped, and veterinarian examined. With all that, they are fed, watered, medicated, loved, and then returned in the dead of night near the address of the person who turned in the cat.

Traps are available but in short supply. If a cat is turned in with a private cat carrier or crate, the crate is immediately returned. If it came in with an ACCT trap, there is an option to pick up the cat after all work and sufficient surgical recovery is done, and the cat is released in the same trap of arrival.

ACCT personell are professional, efficient, and dedicated, and many serve in a volunteer capacity. I heartily recommend the ACCT and their TNR. Here are pics of just 3 of our strays: Stubby, Koko, and Autumn.

Animal care and control is an entirely accurate title. Cannot express enough gratitude to acct team who somehow wrangled my stubbornly aggressive akita who was on a mission after she decided I'm gonna break that dog-sitter's cage and run home. The almost immediate descriptive post to their website prevented immeasurable resources and effort from being expended on our search, not to mention the unimaginable chaos prevented by getting her right off of the streets and keeping her safe and secured.

Ridiculous, horrible, just plain stupid staff. I called to make sure a cat was there, which I saw a couple weeks ago when I visited, so I could come in and adopt him. I had his name, description, and location of his cage. The woman on the phone was absolutely horrid. She said she couldn't tell me unless I had the animal's ID number, I told her I had his name and told her his cage was in the back of the room she replied "well I'm not in the cat room I'm at my desk." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I've been there, your "desk" is a little table literally steps away from where the cats are kept. I honestly couldn't believe my ears. I asked her, "could you go into the cat room?" Which would take her MOMENTS. She laughed, I kid you not, LAUGHED, and said no, I'm busy with other adoptions. Other adoptions? I called at 1:05, the center opens at 1. Even if there were other adoptions, it would take 5 seconds to check or ask someone else to check. Not to mention the attitude was absolutely uncalled for. It's like these idiots forget what their main objective is: FINDING HOMES FOR THE ANIMALS. Instead they all get wrapped up in feeling like they have some sort of power when their job is literally cleaning feces. Reality check for the menial animal shelter workers: please focus on rehoming these poor animals instead of treating potential adopters like crap to give your ego a boost and add some meaning to your pathetic lives. I had a similar experience when I went in person a few weeks ago actually. I meant to adopt the same cat but was left in the waiting area for over 30 minutes while the "workers" sat at their "desks" doing absolutely NOTHING.

these guys are a joke. 2 months ago my neighbor had a cat fall into the elevator shaft of our apt building. called fire dept, they dont come for cats, called spca, they dont do it, called animal control, no help at all. refused to come at all. now the lady threw her 5 cats OUT HER 2nd STORY WINDOW. all the cats now live out front of my building, making the place like a ghetto. one has a broken leg. called again, they WONT COME. these guys should be defunded immediatly and investigated. SPCA refuses to help also because i didnt see her do it. I said at least come get the cats... they are starving one is wounded, refused. So ACCT IS USE LESS. TAX PAYERS MONEY GOING FOR NOTHING! DONT BOTHER CALLING THEM, THEY DONT GIVE A DAMN

I am planning on adopting a black lab from here in the next day or two. This shelter really needs people to step up and give these animals a home. I have to travel an hour to get there but I feel I need to do this. This shelter needs funds and adopters to help out.

Received adequate customer service in the past. However my experience today was disgusting and pathetic. I adopted dog (WHO WAS ALREADY SPAYED) and ACCT required her to be spayed before letting her leave. The procedure was to be done the day following the adoption, however...I got a call 2 hours before pick up that their surgeon didn t show up (questionable) and that she would have the procedure the following day. I showed up at 4pm as instructed the following day and proceeded to wait over an hour before someone told us that we wouldn t be able to take her home that day....they had realized she was spayed already and still sleeping after the anesthesia. Which by the way, is called the recovery period. I m a medical professional, I know how anesthesia works. I then told them I would like to wait until she s ready to go. I wasn t going to let her stay another night there, despite the incredible inconvenience. I was able to see her and she was in fact awake. Then a staff member processed to berate me, even though I had permission to see my dog...This particular woman is in the wrong line of work. Zero compassion for the owners and animals. She was referring my to dog as a he and kept saying how he was an older dog when I was in fact told she was two, it s documented. FOUR different staff members told me four different stories in regards to when my dog would be ready. Even the vet told me I could stay and wait for her. What it came down to was me leaving, without my dog after waiting over two hours. The staff member personally promised that I could get my dog at 8 in the morning the following day when in fact they open at 10...That is if I still wanted to finalize the adoption. I thought signing the papers and paying would finalize the adoption. I guess not, and I am sick to my stomach knowing my animal is under their care. Disorganized, lacks compassion, horrific communication, disrespectful, non-transparent. I pray I can bring my dog home safely tomorrow and begin our lives together. It s sad because I can t say don t go here because there are animals who deserve homes. If ACCT reads this, please have a better staff in the future. And to anyone looking to adopt, just be mindful of what you will potentially be faced with.

I got a cat from there that had fleas. They told me the cat was treated for the fleas, but they didn't mention the cat was treated 3 hours before i adopted him. I brought the cat back home and ended up with fleas all on my bed and now my current cat has fleas and they not trying to reimburse me for adopting their cat. I'm going to L&I and getting this place shut down. They giving people cats who has fleas. Don't waste your time or money here. You have a better chance at going to SPCA for a clean and healthy animal.

I have been to the shelter over 7 times and never was able to even get into the building. I thought the idea was to find home for the fur babies. Someone is doing the animal's a disservice! It was a large crowd looking to adopt today.

They truly do right by the homeless animals of Philly. Adopted one of our beloved cats from them and am always so impressed with all the creative adoption events they do. A one of a kind organization!

No kill shelter can ever be 5 stars, but the real problem is the Philadelphia public, which abandons its animals to the shelter, pushing it beyond the capacity of its meager resources. If people were more responsible with their pets, and if we got rid of puppy mills and backyard breeders, our shelter system would be able to do so much more for the welfare of animals, instead of simply scrambling everyday to triage the sick and wounded, and adopt out or transfer out the rest to keep from filling up.

This place is great. I dropped a stray dog off there and they gave him medical attention, food, water and a place to stay. He found a home 3-4 days later. If you want to adopt a pet from acct Philly know that they do not hold pets for people, it is a first come first serve shelter. There are so many stray dogs out there that need homes #adoptdon'tshop
