Cool old bar with and interesting history. Overall a great place to try absinthe. They have a big variety of drinks to try. I had the butterfly classic and it was good. I m not a big fan of the anise flavor but still enjoyed trying the drink. The service was lack luster at best. He seemed put out and disinterested in serving me a drink. Maybe it s because I was alone and didn t represent a big bill. Besides the service, I enjoyed the lively atmosphere and good company of the other customers. I had a good time hanging out there.

This is definitely the place to go for your first and last drink of the night. The bar and bartender were classy. The drink was great and worth the price for the experience and atomsphere.

Terrible experience. Worst service I've ever had. Bartender yelled at us because she made a mistake with our bill. Crazy situation. Avoid this place. Lots of other places more than willing to take your money.

Awsome

I really like this bar, but not sure why. It is a round bar in a square building. Drinks are expertly made and they have a full bar, not like some places in more touristy areas that don't carry Tuaca. Tuaca is a must for me! Walls are full of business cards and, of course, they have absinthe!

Very cool little bar. So much to look at! So many pictures and memories on the walls, and football helmets on the ceiling. I wanted to try absinthe for the first time, and this was definitely the place. The bartender seemed to be a bit annoyed with my lack of knowledge. She explained the menu like a recording. I can now say I've tried absinthe. I dont like it lol. Black licorice is not my thing. The process of making it was cool though! A $25 first and last experience.

An amazing, top shelf selection of absinthe. They prepare absinthe drinks in the traditional ritual. It is not a cheap place to drink, but considering the proof and the quality of the absinthe, you re getting what you pay for!

The bartender was knowledgeable about the different brands and their strengths and weaknesses.

If you love absinthe (I do) this is a must-visit while you re in New Orleans.

Well worn bar on Bourbon. They serve Absinthe of various makes, and do the whole schtick with burning a sugar cube and everything. Neat to go there once, but their drinks were very pricey (and this is not counting the Absinthe which we knew was going to be a little higher). In the end, we found better places in the French Quarters, but it was still worth the stop for a drink. Staff was so-so.

We were recommended to go here by a waiter at a local restaurant, we were looking forward to enjoying a drink here. Went to go in and we were denied as our Ontario Canada drivers licences with our pictures were not accepted, the lady at the front wanted us to produce our Passports. The 4 of us are 49 to 54 years old. It wasn t worth the trouble if arguing as I would not spend my money here even if they let us in

Ehh

The bartenders here are so dedicated to educating patrons on how absinthe is prepared! If you're not sure of something, ask, and if you order a non-cocktail, sit back and appreciate being talked through it. In the madness of Bourbon St, this sipping liquor is a respite, while offering a slightly different door to insanity

The history of this place is very very cool. I'm told Mark Twain used to drink here. The absinthe is prepared traditionally here and you pay a price for it. Definately order one to share, even if you don't like it. It's very cool to watch them make.

Don't let the look of this place, from the outside keep you from the experience. The absinthe here does contain wormwood, so these are sipping drinks, not shots.

I walked into this place my first night in NOLA having no idea what it was. It was dim and quiet (unlike any other bar) so I walked in. It ended up being my regular spot while in town. The bartender Sam was amazing, drinks were great, ambiance was exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely be visiting on my next trip.

Ive only tried absinthe once previous to this encounter. I had a lot of questions about it, but our bartender was extremely knowledgable. This is a TRUE absinthe house. The drink is prepared traditionially and its very cool to see. It has a strong "black liqourish" flavor so be prepared. Has a slightly different effect than your traditional liqours. All in all a unique experience. I would recommend 100%.
