Friendly staff, might of made up for the lack of drink making skills. If the bar had not smelled like old dirty water. Not the best place to get a drink on Bourbon Street.

I figured out at this bar that I hate Absinthe but it is a nice bar and was not crowded the other drunks are all good
Such a cool spot with a very interesting vibe. Glad we splurged on the absinthe and even more glad they had some with mild anise flavors!
the bloody Mary with the pepper vodka was WONDERFUL
Lots of men in suits, but a great experience to start your night off with.
I chose to bring friends from Texas and Florida there for cocktails and they (we) loved it! "Big Red" made the best Planters Punch any of us have ever enjoyed and the 151 topper really does the trick. The drinks we $12 each but we'll worth every cent. We sat at the bar and drank and people watched and drank (you get the idea). Great time with great drinks. Ask for "Big Red" and you'll be very happy...
Rotten beer? I don t know. You decide. I usually like dive bars. The stranger next to me let me know he didn t like his Stella just before he left. My wife s Blue moon didn t taste right either. Pass. So many other bars around.
We had to try the absinthe while here. It was quite the show! Love the sugar on fire! It was a great experience but very strong!! Bar is gritty and right on Bourbon Street. Servers are friendly.
Total dive, bartenders are a bit slow..but it's busy in there
Great drink selection! They have, well, absinthe. And other drinks, but get the absinthe.
I can't legally drink yet but the people are cool here!
Great selection of off the grid absinthe. Pay a bit more but neat for the absinthe explorer.
My favorite bar on bourbon st. Maybe the universe.. Love these drinks
Busy place. Absinthe was... Quite the drink. Expensive but it's something you should try whether you think it tastes good or not.
Excellent place, if you've never had absinthe, but the Planter's Punch is Bourbon Street worthy!
Cool if you nab a spot to sit for a while. Otherwise, if you're a tourist, I say pop in, have your drink, and keep exploring the French Quarter.
They have like 6 different absinthes if you are feeling adventurous! I enjoyed the "punch" and people watching on Bourban. Melody was attentive and helpful explaining the different absinthes.
Bar Tender was a doLL patientLy explained our opTions, and maDe iT aLL worth whiLe
Love M d the friendly atmosphere spent most of the evening here
Did not see the green fairy, tho we did give it our best.
I was wondering around by myself on a rainy day of our group vacation and I ended up passing this place and decided what the heck why not. The bartender was quick to greet me as I approached the bar and was very helpful in recommending a drink.
I chose the clandestine at the recommendation of smoothness from the bartender. It's been a long time since I bought a $20.00 drink but, I was on vacation and a place like this doesn't come into my view often. I sat down and enjoyed my cocktail and decided one was enough and I should head back to meet my group.
During the day this part of the French Quarter (I believe Pirate's Alley it is called) was quite and didn't seem to be overrun with the touristy or bro type crowd. I will stop back in next time I am in town.
It burns, but it is good. It was an experience, but not my cup of tea as I dont really like licorice. It was an awesome experience though!
Great drinks and friendly service. A great stop for a first time absinthe drinker to experience and learn the history of how absinthe made it's way to NOLA.
Pretty kuul pub.
I went here just before lunch. Staff was friendly, had a lot to choose from, and the place looked kuul inside.
Tourist Trap, if it's busy and there's a band you'll have to buy drinks every Set. You'll even be charged $6.00 for water.
BEST BARTENDER EVER !!! I love the energy, sarcasm & STRONG DRINKS!!!
A nice relaxed little spot off the chaos of bourbon street. Our bartender was friendly and quite knowledgeable, even outside the house's namesake drink.
Ashley was 10/10 amazing. Best bar to just hang w friends. Good music and good prices.
Several absinthe selections but $20 a shot is absurd.
Great place to hear live music. Gary Brown was performing that night and captivated the audience. Didn t try the absinthe while I was there, but think I would next time. They do offer a Burlesque show additional to the absinthe purchase.
Security at restroom?? It s 2019 with a bunch of other businesses willing to take your money while this guy is worried about who takes a piss bye!!!!
I love this place!! We go there everytime we are in New Orleans. It's so much fun with a great energy.
Great place, friendly staff. Julie was our bartender and was quick with reccomendations and info about the area. Will be back for sure.
Great spot to begin the night. Friendly staff, a bit pricey. Great variety of absinthes!
My friend had a wallet stolen before coming to Nola. He had a passport (expired...) and a temporary ID. Issued by the Georgia dept of driver services. He is 37 years old and was a navy seal and upon presenting his identification ( what he had - temporary I'd and passport) was denied service. He is 37 years old and served his country honorably. The female bartender wouldn't even give him the justice of hearing out his story nor allow him to present his temporary ID. Shame on Absinthe house
Friends and I wanted to try Absinthe the traditional way and were not disappointed. We will go back next time we're in NOLA.
We ordered the nouvelle and the butterfly absinthe and I wouldn't order either again but it was a fun experience. I wanted to try it and it was something to check off the New Orleans bucket list. Service was fairly efficient for a pretty packed afternoon.
If you enjoy absinthe or just want to try it then this is a great choice but if you only want a beer then I'd go somewhere a bit cheaper.
Best Absinthe selection I've seen in the US hands down
I personally can t stand Absinthe. However this bar makes it good like real good. This is also the bar that started the joke a horse walks into a bar.
Can t wait to go back!!
The food was great!! 5 ....The service from our waiter he was the worst experience I've ever had, which was disappointing, he was rude and we felt ackward and could not wait to get our wrong check fix to reflect our meal and not the the extras charges he "mistakenly" put on our bill and could not even be bother to turn around from folding silverware to acknowledge the mistake on the bill, we paid and run out of there. Very disappointing service but awesome food!!
A little pricey but good spot especially when it's cold outside. Horses from NOPD come at night to line up before their patrol. Great popcorn machine.
Excellent selection of absinthe and a few other very good cocktails if absinthe isn't your thing. The bartender was very knowledgeable on the history of each brand of absinthe and took her time to explain it to every customer who inquired.
Oldest bar in the south. Always get a @dewars and water when i hit NO
The server simply didn't want to serve us when we walked in. She asked for passport ( during rainy night) when I showed her ID which was accepted in all locations we went. We walked right out
Yeah , no thanks 13 dollars for 2 beers ! Not worth it. Couldn't believe they would think that's a good deal .
I went alone and very late/early. If not for the dull ignorant grinding sounds of drunk gluttonous tourists outside, it would feel like stepping into another time. I was very impressed with the service. Not impressed with the sticker price. But hey, i paid for another.
Edit: *To be clear, the price wasn't really bad, I'm just a tightwad. It was definitely the best exotic new cocktail I've had in ages. And the ambiance was more than worth it. I wish I had pictures but I'm glad I wasn't that tourist with his cell phone camera blasting flashes in there.
Love the atmosphere and Absinthe selections at this bar. Extremely pricey for the Absinthe, but good for a treat.
OK place. Planters Punch tasted like straight rum. For $12, I guess I expected better
The bartender went out if her way to make me a Corpse Reviver #2 ...hunted down the ingredients. Worth every penny.
This place is a must the drinks are very strong so be careful but they are good and authentic the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable they will take great care of you
Great bartenders!! Nice fireplace to sit by on a cold day or night.
Rad spot. Vibrant atmosohere or relaxed depending on the time of day. Hugh is an awesome bartender there knows his stuff. Thank you, sir.
Unique and a great place to hang with friends and or a date. Be prepared to spend for some great absinthe. Many varieties of the infamous drink. Considering the historical aspect of the visit. I will continue to visit. The "Old Absinthe House" was the inspiration of Led Zeppelin's album sleeve of their last album In Through The Outdoor. If one takes in the scene. A man at the bar burning a Dear John Letter. Bartender in front. A woman singing and a piano player in the background. What appears to be business cards and dollar bills pinned to the wall. As one would walk in at the corner entrance of the Old Absinthe House, you may see similarities. Great place to visit and I look forward to having great conversation with the bartenders again. The album sleeve is a screen shot of the album sleeve for

The atmosphere was mellow and felt great after Voodoo Fest and Bourbon street. Really enjoyed the fire place.
Everything you would expect from a bar. Nothing more nothing less.
Huge selection of absinthe drink specials and cool decor
