Service here was soooo unbelievably slow. When I asked what was in the special drink advertised, the bartender had no idea. Said she'd go ask her supervisor, instead she started helping other customers. 20 minutes later and we were still waiting on our drinks. The history of the location is nice, but the service leaves a lot to be desired.

My favorite spot for a delicious drink on Bourbon street!! We are working our way down the Absinthe list to find the green fairy!

They have air conditioning which is nice on a warm night or day!

I love the experience of having an absinthe drink prepared! If you like licorice or herbalist drinks this is your place!

They have alternate option of the not so adventurous! But don t knock it until you try it! It s the best way to start your night on Bourbon Street !

This dark bar off Bourbon Street doesn't always fit in with the rest of the bars and that's a good thing. They are wide open in terms of windows and doors and have no qualms letting you in. I've been there during festivals and they have let me bring in my small shoulder carrying cooler full of water when other bars tell me to GTFO even though I'm in the process of buying a drink from them.
Absinthe House has free popcorn most of the time with a "special" ingredient. It's cayenne pepper.
They have a fireplace that keeps you warm during the winter.
If it's winter and it's raining and it's night and you are with that special someone that makes your little heart tick-a-tock, then head over here and warm yourself by the fire - there's something special about the fireplace here during that time.
Bring business cards, you can staple it to the wall in hopes that some drunk slob may require your services.
Get whatever you want, it's all good here.

Friendly bartenders and wide selection. Plenty of absinthe and other non-absinthe drinks. My buddies and I went looking for absinthe and were guided through the selection process by a very helpful bartender. Comfortable and no-fuss environment opens directly onto Bourbon Street, Chill place to sit, drink and watch the crowds pass by.

Walking into the bar you will notice all the business cards on the walls. It's a fun atmosphere here and the bartender was fast with serving us. The selection of absinth is nice, but very expensive. The cheapest, I saw, was about $16. It was worth getting for the experience but other than that it was overpriced. The spot I was sitting at the bar had the occasional dripping of water from the air conditioner, so I recommend you check the ceiling before sitting down.

OOH EEE ... i partied at this place ALL night long, and it was amazing !!!

i had microbrews local to the area that were great, i tossED backed all sorts of different flavored daiquiris that were amazing, and had fresh slices of pizza whenever i wanted because they serve it right there.

this spot is right on THE corner, everyone rolls through here having a good time ... which was perfect for me because i'm a tourist, and wanted to take in as much of the flavor as i could, and i got that and more ;)

pro-tip : head further down conti, and on the left about 3 blocks down is a private parking lot where for $10 you can find a spot, as well as make sure your vehicle is safe.

have fun ... this is DEFINITELY on my return visit list, thanks for the awesome hospitality ladies, and letting me feed your bearded dragon !

We had to ask the waitstaff 3 times if we could order. We finally got a waitress over who was incredibly rude and very put out by the fact that she had to get our beers, even though they weren't very busy. The place looks cool but I was very unimpressed by the service. There are plenty of places in the French Quarter where the staff is super friendly and helpful, this is not one of them.

Nice, classy place. But, its not a party place. It's an older crowd that wants to talk while having a few drinks. Depending on your age, if youre from here, you'll probably know someone.

Classic New Orleans bar and a spot where you probably should have some upscale cocktails. It is on bourbon street so be aware if you go during an event it may be real crowded. Good absinthe drinks obviously, definitely a spot to drink the local original, the sazerac.

Today the service was awesome. The reason for my 3 star review is that this is an anomaly. I think I have walked out of here at least a half dozen times over the years after standing at the bar and being ignored by the bartenders. It's a shame,as it is a really cool place with a lot of history. Hopefully you'll have the experience I had today, instead of the norm...

I loved the service, and witnessing the technique of making the drink. This was my first time having absinthe, and it tasted a lot like licorice...definitely takes some getting used to.

We stopped in here to get a drink on the go .... I had the pernod and my other had the nouvelle...we obviously came here for some absinthe... The bartender was great....the presentation was great on the pours...the decor is interesting... specifically the walls. A friend that was with had mothers milk and didnt exactly prefer it.... overall I recommend it!

Nice drinks but limited seating and very overpriced. Interesting decor. Would probably still go again if I was in town as a treat but if I lived closer it most definitely wouldn't be a regular.

Air conditioning was dripping on my chair. Baretender didn't care about us at all only her phone. 8 of us were completely ignored for 10 minutes until a girl came from the other side to help us. Then mrs cellphone comes up as if we just walked in and the other girl was over stepping. If it wasn't for us meeting everyone there we wouldn't have stayed at all. Extremely overpriced an absolut was $10!!!! I know it's the quarter but for the service the price wasn't worth it we left and septn our money elsewhere

Nice place with a great history but some of the crappiest bartenders I've ever met. Don't open a tab here as I did. I ordered one absinthe and a beer, total $25 Not bad all things considered until my bartender gave herself a $23 tip charging me a total of 50 bucks for two drinks. My advice is to stay away from here and do your drinking elsewhere.

The absinthe selection was impressive. The drinks we're well louched, if a little over watered. The reason for only 4 stars is that I'm a stickler for proper glassware and the absinthe is served in a rocks glass rather than an absinthe glass. That being said I will be returning for more.

I really wanted to love this dive, but just couldn t get into the dirty interior, plastic cups for cocktails, and entirely indifferent service. Perhaps daylight is not kind to the Old Absinthe House and we should have visited by twilight. Zero food available.

The staff was very friendly and understanding.

The staff was very friendly and understanding.

Don't let the price fool you. You can't get absinthe anywhere else, but it's worth it.

It's not European absinthe, so while the liquid is green, it isn't La Feet Verte. Even still, it'll kick your ass if you're not careful.

Best surprise of my trip to the French Quarter.

A. Visit or more to this place is a must, I contacted Marissa via email (I live in Scotland) to arrange a surprise meeting in the bar with our friends from Alaska, and she went above and beyond all expectations... the surprise went perfectly!
