He treated us with contempt, fobbed us off to his much friendlier colleague, and while she was kindly searching for the names he interrupted, shouting over sarcastically, Have you tried reaching her on a different number, maybe her mobile. To which I had to reply, yes, of course, why do you think I m asking the hotel reception, I m not stupid. Of course he had no comeback. Utter plonker. Sort out your reception staff.
