The rooms are small , very simple and nothing special for the price you pay .
Thought we will be getting a room that is different from every other hotel we have been to , but it s your ordinary hotel room if not much smaller. The heater was making a very loud noise throughout the night , bed was okay and in general not worth what you pay for . Overpriced food , accommodation, drinks and everything.
Best Experience. Utilizing the best attributes of these very classic 'Vintage Hotels' in Niagara-on-the-Lake during their 'Great March Escape', was simply awesome. From Elaine who set up the room arrangements at Queen's Landing; to Morgan at the Secret Garden Spa and Amber at the Churchill Lounge for lunch at the Prince of Wales; to Tony, our very special Grand Niagara wine tour host; then to Matthew in the Queens Landing Bar for some celebratory cheers after a fun packed day, the best service ever. Special thanks to Gerrit at Pellitteri Estates, Rachel at Caroline Cellars and to John at Reif Estates, your hospitality and good nature was endless.
We had a great time. We enjoyed their wine trolly tour, the indoor pool and had great meals during our stay.
WARNING TO ALL BRIDES!!! We were so excited to have our wedding catered by Queens Landing. Niagara-on-the-lake has always been such a dream and we couldn't wait to get married there and have it catered by one of our favourite places. However, from the moment we signed our contract all the way to after our wedding day, Vintage Hotels broke their contract and all of their promises and did not follow through on one item, let alone make any of it an enjoyable experience for a soon-to-be-wed couple. Here is what happened with zero exaggeration:
1. In our contract they put aside 5 rooms for our guests (of a 200 person wedding) and wouldn't let us hold any more. We tell our guests hurry and start booking because we have limited rooms. Soon after that, we get phone call after phone call saying that guests are trying to book and not only do they not have a room block on hold for us but they have never heard of this wedding. I call and ask what is going on... THEY HAVE SOLD OUT FOR THE ENTIRE WEEKEND. Completely broke our contract and we got 0 rooms at Queens Landing.
2. We call all of our guests back and apologize and say to instead book at their sister hotel because they sold out for our wedding. We then get AGAIN phone call after phone call saying they only have 2 rooms on hold not 5...
3. Your wedding night is supposed to be complimentary (although in my opinion you should get your entire wedding weekend complimentary because they are not a cheap caterer...) They not only did not follow through on this but they double charged us for the hotel. I had to call back after our wedding because they processed too much on my credit card.
4. Our tasting was supposed to be for us and both our parents. We get there and it is just set up for two people. They argued to us in front of our parents saying they are only set up for 2 people and they can't accommodate more and they even went as far as printing the contract, shoving it in our faces.
5. All of our payments were scheduled to be spread out over the course of the year. Someone "forgot" to process these and ALL of the payments were squished into the last 2 months right before our wedding. You can imagine how much money this was and to have it all come out 2 months before your wedding is incredibly stressful and uncomfortable to say the very least.
6. Out of all of this, we had expressed our disappointment several times and no one cared. We spoke to several Vintage Hotel employees and all they could offer us was a discount on their trolley which only started at 5pm and we needed to be at our venue at 3pm - zero use to us.
7. After all of this struggle before the wedding day... the day of was just as bad. They were understaffed for our wedding (that was booked a year in advance) and made us 40+ mins behind schedule. This actually resulted in us having to cut half of the mother and son dance in order to get the dessert out. So sad.
8. We had place settings saying what each guest ordered and communicated this in advance along with the seating chart. Several people were served the wrong items which was very scary considering that quite a few people had severe allergies.
I wish I had this warning before we booked as I certainly wouldn't have moved forward. I felt uneasy right from the beginning and no one at the entire company did anything to reassure us. It is very unfortunate as it is your wedding day and not just "any" event. I strongly suggest to all brides considering Vintage Hotels to look elsewhere. Happy to share more of what we went through with all brides-to-be. Please take my advice and do not book anything with Vintage Hotels for your special day.
My wife and I stayed at the Queen s Landing on July 28 and 29th for two nights (it was a our 35th wedding anniversary)
The room was quite nice and comfortable, however we were not very pleased with the following:
1- When you pay that much for a room, you would except that the TV in the room would be in HD and not analog with a poor picture (This is not acceptable in a good hotel) and, if you wanted to rent a movie , it should be at a reasonable cost and not over $20.00. This is outrageous!!!
2- The other complaint we have is the $15.00 a day we were charged for resort fee .
When I asked what was the resort charge for I was told it was for the parking and for the use of Wifi. We were never told about that extra charge when we checked in. We did not need nor used Wifi since we have cellular phones and we certainly could have parked on the street for free since we have a disabled sticker in our car. This was an unnecessary fee that should be reimbursed to us!
3- You claim to be environmentally green . Nowhere did we see a sign about the use of towels in the bathroom or any recycling bins as mentioned in your guest folder.
This is why we gave a rating of 2 stars
Sincerely
K. Ramez
So far, the staff have been very accommodating and hotel looks beautiful. I will update on Friday after our stay but so far, 5 stars!
Im writing this review more because I'm surprised to have the experience my wife and I had with a Vintage property. We have stayed at numerous hotels in the Vintage Group in Niagara(Pillar and Post/Queens Landing /Moffatt)so we assumed staying at the Millcroft Inn would be the same experience and with a $280.00 a night price tag we felt there would be no concerns. We arrived to check in on a Saturday night at 8pm and were surprised to see no one at the front desk we waited for close to 10 minutes for someone to help us, I went to the restaurant which was in plain sight of the front desk and the gentleman waiting to seat people at the restaurant made no effort to tend to our needs until I addressed my concerns to him.The gentleman was polite and explained to us that the computer system had changed and he couldnt check us in through the computer even with me showing him our confirmation number on my phone .We were given our keys and parking pass and with a hand motion told where to park by the spas. The night was foggy and it was freezing rain my wife and I parked our car and made our way back to the main building and to our surprise were passed by two employees in golf carts neither employee offered to take our bags. We got to our room and the door was open, the door itself was flimsy and felt insecure. We were under the impression our room was to include a fireplace this room did not,all activity outside our door could be heard clear as if the door was open there was a gap at the bottom of the door nearing an inch from the floor to the bottom of the door. I'm very disappointed at how we were treated our accommodations and the whole experience with the Millcroft Inn.The next day I awoke very upset as I had planned this for our Valentines night away, I did not want to use any of the facilities as we had to wait for 3 hours for any of the spas/pools to open(we woke at 6 am) this clearly isn't what we expected with the Vintage Group. We will continue going to the Vintage Hotels in Niagara but we will never go back to the Millcroft Inn.
The winery s the trolley took us to were very nice. The trolly is rusty and needs a new transmission. It jerked and shook the entire ride. The sound system makes it impossible to hear the tour guide. For $60.00 per person, some upgrades to the trolley are in order.....
A group of people and myself recently took a trolley wine tour provided through Vintage hotels. We were in Niagara on the lake celebrating my girlfriends birthday, and the tour was a surprise for her. The tour guide Margaret could not have been ruder. She constantly rushed and shushed people on the tour (both in other groups, and in ours). At one point, she left a winery without one of the couples on the tour with us, and they had to run after the trolley as it was pulling out. And to cap it all off, she accused my girlfriend of sneaking into the bathroom to drink an entire bottle of wine. She had purchased the wine, and simply had it in the bathroom with her in a bag. It was the worst experience we had ever had, and the tour director never returned my calls when I called to complain. I would not recommend this tour, nor this hotel for being associated with this tour. Don't let it ruin your trip to an otherwise beautiful area like we did.
Just eating breakfast in my vintage 900$ hotel room complete with black mold and all the finest touches including a hair in the muffins
Stay clear of this place if you want to keep your self health very moist room wonder what is behind the walls
A lot of money for not very much so if you ask me it's a lot of money for a lot of nothing almost $300 a night
We have stayed at VI properties on and off for years. Most recent stay at Pillar and Post was ok. Staff are professional and friendly. Food is awesome. However the property is outdated and clearly in need of regular maintenance. Fresh paint, new carpets, mould removal from a shower is needed... Hot springs spa looks old and needs an update. All in all good stay but not 5 stars.
