I’m giving four stars because the alarm box was mounted on the surface of the wall rather than recessed as designed. The technician said the wires were too short and he had to raise it higher, which left a noticeable gap and a metal box sitting awkwardly on the exterior. It would have been better if they had installed it exactly as intended to avoid this cosmetic issue.

Great company! They have a simple model of offering a flat monthly alarm fee and no long term contract. We switched and it was the easiest of transitions. Excellent company. We have been with Smith Thompson security for more than 14 years. We recently signed up for pest control services through them. They are excellent to work with - high quality services and very reasonably priced.

We canceled service. Our alarm went off twice in 2 weeks due to wind (we were told) at around 1:30AM. The second time they never even called. We were in master with door locked. After maybe 5 minutes or so we called 911. We called Smith Thompson 10-15 minutes later and they had a recording indicating they had too many alarms going off.

Also, our home was built in 2008 and builder didn't put a monitor in master. Called and asked them how much it would cost. Their IT man said he would have to drill into our foundation in master to run line to our control center in the laundry room.

We immediately checked on new system for our home.

We were amazed when we started looking for a security company how poor their systems were and the people who came out knew nothing.

We are now with a security company and the monitoring company is attached to our security system to make sure all items are working properly.

We have had Smith Thompson Security for 2 months now and we have had a great experience. The install was very quick and the installation rep was very professional and personable at the same time. At $16.95 per month and no long term contract, this service can not be beat. Fortunately, I have not had to test what happens upon a breakin, but I was very satisfied with the install and response time to follow up technical questions I have had. Incredible how professional and quickly they completed the work

We had two existing landline keypads and the main panel replaced by Chad. Also, we had 3 indoor motion sensors installed. Chad arrived within the window given for the appointment and was an excellent technician. The installation was quick and professional and Chad was very patient answering any of our questions. The equipment is very easy to use and the monthly monitoring cost is reasonable. He also checked out all of our existing sensors. Chad did not pressure us at all to buy any additional parts or services. Would highly recommend Smith Thompson and Chad.

Smith Thompson Home Security recently came out to install a wireless (not requiring use of a telephone land line) alarm system in our home. Only positive things to share about the technician who came to my home for the install. He was a little early and did call to make sure that was alright, which it was. He was professional, courteous, and very efficient. He was done in no time. He answered all my questions. The system itself is very affordable and we ve been extremely pleased with it. We would highly recommend Smith Thompson to all our family and friends!

Overall, I thought they did a great job for a fair price! The rate for monitoring is very reasonable and the equipment, although a bit higher priced than it could be wasn t leased and is guaranteed.

I really like Smith Thompson and the new upgrade with the app. But I am disappointed that I was charged for a new keypad. My original keypad was faulty in that the door wouldn t stay closed. I would think the company would stand behind their product.

I am a long time customer for Smith Thompson. In mid February 2021 I called tech support about a beeping coming from my control panel. They could not help me by phone and said they would send a technician out. Unfortunately this was before my wife and I had received COVID vaccinations, (my wife and I are 70 and 75)so the rep on the phone told me how to disconnect the battery in the closet control panel to stop the beeping. I told him at that time that I would call back and resume service when we were vaccinated. I called today April 13th and asked for someone to be sent out to fix the problem and was told that I owed $285 for a full year of monitoring. I objected in that it was clear that I cancelled service and indeed did not have any service from mid February to April 13. I was told it did not matter I still owed for the entire year. I offered to pay for the January to mid February period where we actually had monitoring service but that was rejected by the sales dept, Bottom line is that I have other choices and will be contacting another security service with a better customer service orientation.

We love this company! We have used them for alarm system monitoring and pest control for 8 years now. They even did a rat extermination 4 years ago for one price and still check on that today for us. Upgrade went well. Only negative is technician did not remove old battery and power connector, which were found on the floor.

A friend referred me to Smith Thompson and it sounded too good to be true -- a locally based security company that provides the same services as ADT however it never raises its rates. Friendly, informative, and efficient service. I had done issues because I thought my builder had wired my house a certain way and found out that wasn t true. They helped me problem solve and come up with an alternative to still meet my needs and it didn t cost a fortune!

Not only are their prices only a fraction of the cost of other security systems (and they don't charge you extra for the Uplink system to use cell phone towers), but I was most impressed with their Tech Support department. After hour service sucks. No tech service is available when the system doesn't work. I installed Smith and in about 4 weeks it didn't work. When I called, no tech service was available.

I am shocked to see owner response with completely false information. My suggestion to user is never ever believe owner response in review. My recommendation to Smith is improve your customer service and you can call me to resolve the issues instead of providing false information. I am still Smith user and certainly I won t recommend others until they improve customer service.

The service tech sprayed the perimeter of the house and interior. Also, he provided some tips on how to combat pests. I will definitely use them again.

Wanted a reliable company that could handle the fire ant problem that had suddenly come up on our lawn. Smith Thompson pest control team was extremely responsive and were able to schedule us at very short notice. The person who came over was also very efficient, but at the same time made sure to answer all our questions.

Compared to the usurious garbage that ADT and Protection One foist on you, the hapless consumer, Smith Thompson is a breath of fresh air. No 3-year contracts (or indeed, any contracts), reasonable prices for equipment that you own instead of 'lease', and low prices for high quality professional service. I am a fan.

I knew when I made the switch to Smith Thompson security that, based on several friend's recommendations, I would receive superior service. I put that to the test this week. Mid-week my main panel started acting up. I called for a technician and he patiently walked me through what he could over the phone. We determined I needed a service call. I had a 3-5 time slot today. Mike called me just around 3 to say he was on his way. He was here by 3:15. He was professional, personal, and really knew his stuff! He diagnosed the problem almost before he came in the house, based on what he was seeing on his computer. I think he was here for maybe 15-20 minutes, and that's because he did a thorough check of the entire system just to be safe. I am thrilled with this service appointment from start to finish. On time, fast work, pleasant and knowledgeable personnel. My decision to switch to Smith Thompson has certainly been affirmed!

I am a very satisfied customer so far. From the beginning when the technician came to install it the first time, I can see that he is very knowledgeable and professional. We had equipments from a different provider used by the previous home owner, but they were not marked and organized at all. He had to find out which cable was connected to which access. He took the time to maximize the utilization of the existing equipments and provided reasonable suggestions, not forcing me to buy more. After installed, we had 2 occasions of false alarm. From there, I can see the speedy response of the team to alert us and the professionalism in handling the situations. Highly recommended!

I have had this company for 16 years at two homes. Great prices and great techs and office staff. It seems that no matter how good a company is, some people gripe for no reason whatsoever. I love the price of monitoring service the most: $16.95/month. Some other company is a few bucks lower but I'm not sure how their equipment and monitoring service work. The technician was very helpful and knows his trade, and he answered all my questions cheerfully. He was quick too. We have had 2 false alarms so far and each time the 'check call' came in within 1 minute of the going-off alarm. The old company we used did not even call in once or twice after the false alarm going off, so, so far Smith Thompson performed and delivered as they promised. I'm happy with this company's service very much.

Chad arrived on-time and replaced our two old keypads, master controller box and backup battery at no charge. He installed a new backdoor sensor also. Chad forgot to show me how to input a new master code and alarm code via the keypad, but Tech Support walked me through the process by phone. Easy!

We chose to have Smith Thompson as our security provider for our new home. I had to reschedule our initial installation date due to scheduling conflicts on our part, but the staff accommodated our request.

Lorenzo called yesterday to let me know he was 30 minutes away and arrived very close to the beginning of the time-frame I had been given for the work to begin.

Lorenzo came in and made sure I was aware of everything that he was going to do and that it matched what we had requested to be completed.

The work was done in a timely and efficient manner and with absolutely no disruption to me being able to continue with my personal work responsibilities.

When everything was done, Lorenzo walked me thru the account setup, downloading the app on my phone, and providing a tutorial on how to use the newly installed touch screen system.

Smith Thompson has professional installation down to an art form. Mike Aman did such an amazing job updating my system and giving me a tutorial on how to work my new secure home that I feel like a pro, and I ve only had it for less than a week!
