These guys really helped me out on a bind when my motherboard crapped out, identified it as a ram issue promptly and as a result charged me next to nothing. Really friendly staff and knowledgable as well. The negative reviews must be coming from people that expect miracles, as some things are beyond repair but if they spend extensive time diagnosing there will be charges as with any business. Don't fall for the negative reviews, this is a top notch business and they genuinely care about their clientele and leaving you with the best impression possible. Only issue is there could be more tech guys as sometimes they are swamped, but my experience was as good as it gets. 5 stars all around.

Downtown Computer was such a great help in fixing my old computer and gathering my information into a memory drive. They were thoughtful and willing to help in anyway they could. The owner was so generous in providing me with a charger after finding out my old one was broken. I defiantly recommend his business and service! Don't hesitate in stopping by his shop and having them inspect your pc or mac, they will provide you with good insight and cost-saving resolutions like they did for me.

I rented 5 laptops and 2 projectors with screens from these guys. Nothing but problems. When I booked the rental, I asked how big the screen was and I was told it was 6' Wide, I explained that I had 2 of my own screens and it was very important that the screens were 6' wide. I was assured that would be no problems. When I arrived to pickup the rental, I was told that they were out of 6' wide screens and I could have 4' wide screens. I explained that when I ordered it with Eddie, that I explained that I needed 6' screens and he told me that would be fine. I was told that Eddie wasn't in and they only had 4' wide screens. The clerk told me that one didn't come back from a customer yet and the other was broken. I took my rental and left.

Once arriving at my venue for my meetings, I setup each laptop. One of them have some software issues and I had to boot it 4 or 5 times to get it to start properly. Once it was started, I left it on just in case. Another unit did not output video, kinda useless when I rent it to use with a projector. I called them but it was after 5pm so they were closed. I went back the next morning to get a different computer for the one that wouldn't output video. Finally, all set.

Upon return I explained to the clerk about the problems I had with the laptop, he asked me it the rest of the computer worked. Yes it did, but without a video output for a projector it is kinda useless for PowerPoint. I was told I would need to talk to Eddie and there was nothing he could do for me because the computer worked. I emailed Eddie and explained my situation. I was told there was nothing he would do regarding the wrong screen sizes as screens are free. I explained that I rented the projectors from him because the price included Screens and when I called him he told me they were 6' screens. After having to rent the screens from somewhere else, it was way more expensive to get the projectors from him plus I had to run around and deal with all this silliness. He told me that their prices are very good even without a screen and there was nothing he would do. Regarding the laptop, I was told that the laptop worked fine. Which is a different story then I got from the clerk when I exchanged it. Finally he agreed to give me a free extra day on a future laptop booking of 2 or more days. This seems like an useless offer in my opinion. All and all, the products that worked were old but okay, the ones that didn't were useless and the customer service was awful. If you are looking to rent computers, projectors or screens keep looking if quality and reliability is important for you.

I wish I would have read these reviews before taking my Iphone for a simple battery change. I originally called on Friday evening asking how long it will take for a battery to be replaced. The guy estimated around 2 hours but because was already late I decided to be there early on Saturday. When handed him the phone he told me to come back the following day. Anyways after I reminded him the conversation we had agree to do it faster. I got back after 2-3 hours just to be handed a phone with the home button not working anymore. I left it there and came back on Monday. It still wasn't fixed and the guy didn't seem to have a clue what to do about it. I got really pissed and I asked for a spare until they'll fix it. Finally I got it back on Tuesday afternoon and wasn't offered any discount or at least apologies. Even more the guy was mumbling something like the button wasn't working from the beginning. I almost felt like standing in front of the store to warn the future customers about how crappy their service is. I've seen a picture in of the reviews above and yes, he's the one

My laptop broke the other day and I brought it in, to Downtown Computer Centre. The staff there was great and quickly pointed out the problem. They didnt try to deceive me but instead explained the simple issue and quickly fixed it. They are very friendly and really seem to enjoy what they do. I was in and out before I knew it and my laptop is working perfectly. I am very satisfied with their service, I strongly recommend them, and I will be using them again

Friendly & reliable service (fixed badly broken - dropped on the floor - laptop power supply, ready the next day, for a decent price (about $95); same thing happened two weeks later - kept dozing off with the laptop in my lap, waking up and having it fall on the floor - did the same repair at half price).

They were so helpful and awesome!!!! Originally, I was told my screen could not be fixed due to a defect in the new screen by apple, but they advised me they could replace it with a different screen they had found for a lot less then what apple was charging. A nice surprise. This place is great and was so convenient as opposed to heading to sending it out to Apple. The employee there was accommodating and knowledgeable. 100% recommend this place for anyone needing a screen replacement or tech repair. Thank you guys so much.

I went into downtown computer store recently twice. One was to have an old iphone unlocked. Jacob was efficient had it unlocked within 24hrs. Reasonable pricing.

The second time was I dropped my iphone into water and it wouldn't turn on. I asked Jacob to see if it was repairable and worth repairing. Jacob spent a few hours with it and called me saying it was not worth repairing. He return my non-functioning iphone to me.

Good service, Jacob knows what he is doing. I would return. Not sure how good they are at major computer/laptop repair/issues, but had a good experience with my iphone with them.

very nice place for people like me who know little about computers. they patiently
heard me and advised me and checked my computer in less than 24 hrs and called me. Because cost of repair was more than actual price of computer, i decided to buy another one.
At the end they transferred my data to the new desktop which i purchased from them with no extra charge and they set up my outlook and they even gave me a ride with computer when they found out, i have no car.
since Dec 2011, computer is running fantastic and is much faster than old one for sure.
i would recommended strongly if you looking for honest place for your computer.

This place is dishonest and i would not trust my laptop or any other electronic device with them. They shame the IT world with their unprofessional behavior.

I went to this store to get my mac keyboard fixed(it was missing a couple keys) and they told me in order to do this i have to buy a new casing because they come as a pair. So i paid them $180 bucks and waited for the piece to arrive. They call me a week later and tell me they can just fix the keyboard and they dont have to replace the case and it would only cost $180 i already paid.
I went in dropped my laptop off and when i got it back the backlight was no longer working. I called other stores asking about the case and they said if its from a legit seller the only way for them to separate them was to rip it apart(rip the keyboard from the case). In doing so they broke my backlight and then when i confronted them about it they said that they got it like that. I argued for so long with them basically saying, why would i bring in my laptop to have you just fix the keyboard if my backlight is also broken, aka you broke it and now you are covering it up. I told the guy to look me in the eye and tell me that he is sure my backlight was broken and he did, he lied to my face.

The owner is super nice and the prices for used laptops are literally unreal. Im not sure how he even turns a profit. I got this Lenovo computer for $550 retail price at bestbuy right now is 1100 the computer works like new. I have also gotten my laptop in the passed fixed there an again couldn't of been more pleased. Really cheap and really fast. I will be a life long customer.

Wow! Just wow! The owner here is so gracious and sweet. But that's not the review. I traveled up to Vancouver with a bicycle.... That has electronic shifting. TSA cut the cables to the battery pack. After talking the bike to a bike shop, a hardware store, I ended up here. He spliced 8 very tiny cables inside the tubes of the bike, shrink wrapped it all together, and my bike is now working perfectly again. He saved me $700 that it would have cost to replace and reinstall the battery and rewire the whole thing. Highly recommended.

I rented an advanced laptop for a week, and the laptop worked fine and the prices were reasonable, the service was terrible. I called them before I left to confirm that I could pick up a laptop that day and asked if there was anything I needed to know. They neglected to tell me that there was a $500 deposit on each rental laptop, which resulted in me having to postpone picking up the laptop I needed another day and very much hassle on my part to get my work done. Then, when I did pick up the laptop, I told them that I did not know how long I would need it for, but I was guaranteed to have it back within a week. Since I didn't know how long I'd need it for (but up to a week), I didn't want to pay then but pay when I gave it back. However, they said that this wasn't possible. I don't see why I had to pay up front. Now, it turns out that I can return the laptop one day later, but they won't accept it or give me a refund since I already payed... against my will. Absolutely horrible customer service. I am never going here again. NEVER.

I am so impressed with this shop. I have been to his shop so many times, he feels like family. I tell him I should have shares in his store. LOL. He has never let us know. Me and my fiance have gone in for phone to computer repairs and cord issues and the owner has always gone above and beyond. Rates are fantastic. If you need a computer to rent or buy cheap that works, here is where you wan to go. They also have phones too. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting or the folks that live here. #1 place to fix computers quickly and handle issues within a short period of time. Thank you for always being so kinda and helping us out.

These people are amazing and honest. I received an estimate for my crashing 2013 Macbook Pro 15 and agreed to the service, but they weren't able to completely fix the issue, although they improved it. NO charge! Super classy and would come back again! Best computer repair shop in the west end hands down.

I wish , and hope people could appreciate their humanly interactions ,and help them to stay alive and more successful in their business.

I selected Downtown Computer after reading several positive reviews about this establishment on google, relieved when all the reviews turned out to be true.

Downtown Computer is the real deal. I was so impressed by the result and their expertise that this is now my go-to tech specialist for any computer problems I have in the future.

The touchscreen on my one-year old Dell notebook fried on Saint Patrick's Day, and I was frantic after learning the warranty was expired a few days earlier, adding to that Dell was charging a starting fee of $600. I called Downtown Computer and I was immediately comforted by the employee advising me to bring in by laptop soo he could take a look and give me a quote.

I brought in my laptop the evening of March 15th, handed them the laptop. At no charge they took apart the screen and contacted their suppliers as well as researched places trying to find a suitable replacement touchscreen. On that day they was not able to find a touchscreen and at that point but they went through several options available to me. Even though I was disappointed, I advised the employee there to order a static screen. He gave me a quote that was less than half the starting charge given by Dell. He gave me a slip and told me it would take about ten days.

A week later he contacted me to tell me the non-touch screen was not compatible with my notebook, but he found a compatible touch screen and wanted to know if I wanted him to buy it. He advised it would take about 10-14 days arrive because it was coming from overseas. He told me the price and it was substantially cheaper then what dell was charging, they also apologized for the delay. I was impressed with his integrity and I said YES.

The following two weeks, the touch screen arrived, Downtown Computer installed it and I picked it up. I used it immediately and it works like a charm. Thank you Downtown Computer! You will see me again soon when I bring in my old laptop for a tune-up. :)

If you are experiencing ANY issues with your devices and need tech experts who are knowledgeable, professional, personable and stands by their word, Downtown Computer is the place to go. FYI, Downtown Computer is located on Davie.

My laptop battery was no longer holding a charge and needed to be replaced. When I went into Downtown Computer, everyone was very nice and courteous to me. They tested my laptop and gave me an estimate for free! Most computer repair shops (just like any repair shop) will charge you to tell you what is wrong, but not this place. I got a fair estimate and was very happy to get my laptop back with a brand new battery and working like brand new. I highly recommend Downtown Computer.

I am not calling them out for another service charge. Screw these amateurs!

The worse place ever! I spent 134.40 to unlock my cell phone, my cell phone is still locked, the owner gave me a thousand of excuses, saying that the problem was in my cell phone. He sent me to apple, and there they could check the cell phone was still locked . I talked to the owner, still the excuses.
They just stolen my money, it looks like a scam.

I went to their store couple of weeks ago for troubleshooting my computer which did not start. When I got back my computer, my tower case was already closed and they asked me to pack myself my computer in the cardboard box which I did. While packing the computer I noticed a noise but did not pay much attention to it. Once arrived home, I opened my computer case which was previously closed by the computer guys and noticed that I was missing PCI slots covers and screws located in the back of the computer. Later on, while installing my graphic card I noticed a non attached PCI slot which fell for the second time unattached in the computer case. It might seem a minor things to forget unattached elements such as PCI slots inside the case but it is not! These one are made out of metal, are sharp and heavy: it could have easily damaged the fragile golden connection path of my mother card. Fortunately for me everything seems to work but this demonstrates their non professionalism. When it comes to informatics and computer everything are in the details. Additionally, their customer service was pretty bad when I told them I was missing elements of my case: they did not seem to care and were rude. I would not recommend this company!

I called to see if they could unlock my US AT&T phone and to find out the price.

The person I spoke with asked what kind of phone I had.

I told him it was an HTC.

He responded saying that he's never heard of that kind of phone before.

I said it was a pretty popular Android developer.

He said it must only be developed in the US.

As a company marketing themselves as tech specialists, I'm pretty surprised that one of the reps had never heard of the brand HTC.

I decided not to use their services.

Don't use them. I took my laptop there for what was supposed to be a simple replacement of a monitor screen. I got it back with the deeming function of monitor broken for good. A few days later the monitor stopped working all together. I took it back to them and the technician claimed the piece of hardware that connects monitor to motherboard is broken, not by them but by the usual wear and tear process (exactly a few days after they worked on my computer, consider the odds), I was also lectured about the importance of backing up files without even being asked whether I usually do it or not; imagine taking your computer for a screen replacement and being warned about losing the data in your computer. While they were trying to prove their point by disassembling pieces in front of me and showing what was wrong with my computer, everything mysteriously started working again. I am happy that other than losing the deeming function of my laptop no other permanent damage has happened to my computer and my files dealing with these inexperienced unknowledgeable people.
Technical matters apart these people seriously lack social skills, they don't know how to talk to the costumers and they always looked stressed. The young guy who happened to be in charge of my computer acts like he is doing people a favor fixing their computer and while I was there waiting for my computer I could hear the conversations regarding lost items and other unhappy costumers.
I won't let these people fix my dog's toy.

This experience was a little shady. The guy said replacing a batter would cost $150 for parts and labour and take an hour. I said I didn't have an hour and I would happily replace it myself if he'd just give me the battery. But then he said "well it's really easy" and just started replacing the battery in front of me.

I assumed this meant he wasn't going to bother charging me for the labour, but then he charged me $168 including tax. I didn't stop him because I was on my way to work, but I did say "Wait, the BATTERY is $150?" and he said yes. So this was really weird. The price for these batteries online is as low as $30 so I kinda think I am owed a refund for the labour.

I went cause the trackpad on my computer wasn't working. They were super kind and helped me immediately. Other stores wanted to charge me double the price I paid here. I thought the price here was fair. They fixed it in less than an hour. Others were asking me to leave my computer for a week. recommended . Would come here again for sure.

Really unprofessional work. The laptop just needed a quick clean (the fan). They broke the keyboard (numbers not working anymore), screws were not in the proper place (one made a hole in the board), and the fan still dirty. I had to do the work again by my self.
But hey! 50% off the repair cost!. Cheap service cost a lot of money, go with real professionals (check for certifications first)

JUST A BUNCH OF CROOKS AND JERKS. I would rate this place with no stars if I could. The guys here don't know nothing about MAC COMPUTERS SO BE WARNED! I called the The Better Business Bureau and made a complaint. its easy to do and you can do it online. If they have screwed you over to i would do it.

I went in here to get my newish apple mac computer fixed because my boyfriend at the time spilled a little water on it. So i dropped it off and within a few days it was ready to pick up.
I go to pick it up and he mentions that i needed a new hard drive and that he replaced it. Of course me being really stoked payed the 250.00 dollars and went on my way.
So about 3 months later i noticed my computer slowly starting to crap out. By this time i was already living in Prince Rupert. So I brought it to the computer doctor there.
So about a day later I get a phone call back wondering why there was an intell PC hard drive in my mac computer? Oh and on the intell PC hard drive was a white sticker with writing on it saying "for parts only" so that hard drive was not even meant to be used at all.

So the the stupid retards at this place replaced my mac hard drive with a intell pc hard drive and charged me 250.00 for the service.

I called them back as well as the guy who was fixing my computer and my step father. The guys on the other end did not want to help and were so rude and did not want to help us.

My laptop had stopped working last monday, and I saw their site on google while researching for somewhere to take it. They did an evaluation for free and after 2 days (that I settled business with them to fix it) it was working perfectly, no data loss! People are pretty attentious there, if my laptop ever break again, I'm sure to take it back there.

Amazing prices much cheaper than the general market price, and very friendly and helpful staff.
My laptop stopped working suddenly due to hard drive failure and I had to recover my business data of 400 GB before I replace it with a new one.
I went there, they took care of very fast and tried few options until one worked...the best part was, besides the kind and friendly atmosphere, they charged me 1/3 of market price. I called few stores before I go there...
Very satisfied...

I broke my computer screen and took it to Best Buy, who told me they would have to ship it and it would take 3 weeks. They didn t even offer me a rental or any other assistance. Not an option so I went over to Downtown Computer Centre when it opened at 10:00. They told me it would be same day if they had the screen on site, one or two days if they have to order it. They gave me a free courtesy laptop to use in the meantime. At 12:00 I picked up my laptop with a new screen and was only charged $159. Literally the best outcome i could have hoped for after breaking the screen.

Jerks. It's funny, now seeing all the other poor reviews they've gotten, I understand why the owner, Eddie, had zero regard for my concerns.

I went in there at 1:30PM today to rent a projector. I was told by my boss to get a Mini-DVI adapter. The guy who helped me, Richard, was very short with me and unfriendly. We went straight to our meeting from their office. When we got to our meeting my boss told me that they gave us the wrong adapter. You'd think computer people would know which adapter is correct.

I returned the projector two hours later and asked for a refund. I was told I would have to talk to Eddie but that he wasn't in. I called back just now and Eddie was a jerk. He basically laughed into the phone and said it's not his problem and that I should have known what adapter we needed.

I guess I should have read these reviews first.

THE WORST! BE WARNED! Terrible service. Got my laptop powerjack plug repaired their 3 times! First time in August, okay fair enough it breaks again by November, went back and they gave me 25% off new repair to same problem, okay no prob. Breaks again due to their repair and I bring back within 35 days, first employee told me he has no clue about problem, says hell asks his boss, no one contacts me until time for pickup, I had to call 3 times and employee said same answer, no clue ask boss. They then tell me warranty is only for 30 days and try to re-charge me! By the way, they didn't call me to tell me they were charging me anything or didn't inform me when the repair would be complete, just did it and hoped I would pay?!?. Took nearly a week to get back and when I show up tell me there charging me once again.

Total charge almost $400 to fix a power jack when should have been fixed correctly the 1st try and didn't even tell me they were charging me or what they were fixing. TERRIBLE BE WARNED!
