Zone Fitness Clubs Review

Wife and I have been members since April 2015. After covid my wife refused to return. We went to cancel my wife's membership only and spoke with Cathy . I do not have words to describe our conversation. She charged my wife on June 3rd for May. Then charged her one month to cancel plus the 41.75 equipment fee that is due FROM July 19 2020 till next July 2021. Her reasoning was our billing is on the 20th of the month she had to pay a last month which brings her to July 20th therefore she must pay NEXT YEARS equipment fee. My wife paid it just to end it. When I got home i pulled up our agreement from 2015. When we signed up we PAID THE LAST month up front. Went back to Cathy to show her the agreement. Her response was " my wife's membership that she cancelled will now be good till August." Tim...this is no way to treat customers. The last month was paid up front ,my wife should have been charged 25.00 and that is it. She hasn't been in the club since the end of Feb. Cathy accused me of not understanding how a business works. Owing my own business for 30 years Tim I can tell you I have never treated a customer the way in-which my wife was treated. btw...the agreement we signed has no mention of 30 day cancellation. Very disappointing Tim we thought better of you.

Have been a member since the club opened. State of the art fitness equipment and MYZONE heart rate system on site always like to see how many calories you are actually burning on the Big Screen TV's. Fun place to workout and make some new friends. Great trainers and many classes plus personal training.
Lockers and showers onsite, place is ALWAYS SUPER CLEAN.

The club is still new and clean. Equipment is good. However, when had to cancel son's membership, debited from my account, was told son had to do it in person. So, he did. The cancellation was never done at the club level and account was debited. Owner/manager refused to refund or waive 25.00 cancellation fee. Not a great way to be successful in a new business. Oh..and wondering if all the other reviews came from employees since I see the owner wrote one!!!

Save yourself the frustration, believe me it s not worth it. Tim could not be any more unprofessional. I left the gym a review on yelp (yikes-wish I had looked at those reviews first), Instead of apologizing for my experience, Tim was argumentative and accused me of not being a member. Odd because my last name isn t on yelp. Does he just make stuff up? Regardless, I am a member as well as my husband, and son. We will all be cancelling our memberships ASAP. **Response to Owner** I m not the slightest bit concerned with your cancellation policy. Nor did I mention it. Are you grasping at straws or just a pathological liar?

I am pumped. Finally New Port Richey / Trinity has a great club with a operator that offers great service at a affordable membership rate. I pay only $15 per month and join during presales for only $9. What a deal. This is a grand opening special so visit ASAP

The 2 stars that I did give are only because the facility is clean. Who in their right mind thinks that they can charge MORE to cancel than one months dues and not even bother to tell you that when you sign up. Also, how can they allow me to sign up my husband without him there, but will not let me cancel his membership without him there? Does not seem to make sense. On top of the ridiculous cancellation fee they throw in another annual fee! Don't be fooled by the low monthly cost, they will get your money by charging a fee for a fee... I'm so disappointed.

While I fully admit I missed one sentence on the website when signing up, it would've been nice to have received ANY reminder communication that an additional payment was upcoming like every other business provides. To be honest, it hasn't just been that. I was put off by talking down about another establishment I go to as complimentary training while trying to sell me on personal training at Zone. There are better values elsewhere. I will be in this weekend to cancel.

I have always liked this gym, it s close to home, major anchors in same shopping plaza, the gym is clean and has everything I need. I was informed of all fees signing up.

This is a good local gym with decent membership rates. My one complaint was when I had to cancel my membership. I was given a run around and eventually had to make an extra trip to cancel with the owner.

I initially joined Zone Fitness to train for indoor rowing races. It was the only club in the area that offered several Concept 2 ergs, which allowed me to work out with a rower friend (by connecting the machines via Bluetooth, we could even race each other). Rowing machines are usually not very popular in most gyms, and I would often find a single one stuck in some cramped corner. At 6'4", it would be difficult for me to use my full stroke range, and, on occasion, avoid being bumped by other members while using the machine. At Zone the setup is perfect: there's plenty of space, the mirrors on two sides allow me to monitor my form, and, most importantly, I've never had to wait to use the machine. The ergs are always well maintained and clean (as is all other equipment in the gym), and there are many other choices for cross-training: ellipticals, stationary bikes, and a long lineup of treadmills. The atmosphere in the club is low-key, and even on busier days it doesn't feel crowded. Kathy welcomes members of every age and ability, and is attentive and personable with everyone. I am very happy to have found this club, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I am so excited for the Zone Fitness Club to open! Was in the pre-sales office and the equipment looks great. I can't wait to try the Zone workout, the way the team at Zone Fitness described it, I know it will be fun and challenging. Started my membership already, really pumped for my first workout. Awesome club, and the staff was super friendly.

$25 to cancel a month to month membership is ridiculous just as many others have mentioned in the comments. To add insult to injury, you can t cancel over the phone you have to come in and cancel your month to month in person. I started on the 1 year membership, then began paying month to month thinking that I was free to leave whenever without penalty. I was so wrong! They don t provide you with new rules and regulations for your month to month or tell you that there s a $25 fee to cancel. As I have been reading the owners responses to other unhappy customers they say this policy is listed on their website. Ok well, thanks for letting me know that I needed to take more time out of my day to scrummage through your website to find your hidden agenda.

I didn t want to insult them but this is an outdated facility. They don t even have a legitimate water filtration system. Old school & unsanitary water fountains that make it almost impossible to fill water bottles. Spend your money elsewhere!

FEES! The club is giving me a very hard time. I am trying to cancel my membership since April 2020. Sent two emails requesting cancellation which has been ignored, nobody replied and they kept charging me fees. I went into the club and the owner stated that their policy does not accept email cancellations, there was no other way to cancel the membership and there was a note at the front desk stating to reach them through email regarding membership issues. The owner wanted me to sign the cancellation letter with todays date which I did not agree to because I cancelled few months back. I could not find an agreement with the management so I asked my bank to block transactions from Zone Fitness. The club sent me to collections and a bill of almost $300! I guess we'll end up in court. Please be aware everyone!

This gym is pretty good decent equipment, very clean and the staff is personable. Horrible music selection when the manager Cathy is there but she's still a nice lady

PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS BEWARE. Before signing up, be aware that if you decide to end your month to month user agreement, they will charge you $50.

Equipement is not being fixed for a long time but the main issue are the FEES and extremely hard time cancelling the memberships. During Covid when the club was closed, I was still charged so I tried to cancel the membership via email listed on their website. They changed the email in the meantime so I had to send another cancellation email, accordingdly to a message at their front door stating to contact via email for any membership changes. The email has been ignored. I went into the club to finaly cancel the membership but the owner talked me into freezing it instead, which I did. The last freeze day, I sent a cancellation letrer by mail. They still charged me a cancellation fee, following month charges and membership renewal fees! While I already paid my last month fee when I signed up for no-contract membership! Just to add they ignored my family members cancellation notice and sent them to COLLECTION! I do not recommend to anyone!

Joined this gym month to month on July 29th
and paid $93.27 in fees with included first and last month dues a enrollment fee and another fee. After 3 workouts on August 14th I decided I didn't like the equipment because it wasn't doing anything for me and decided to cancel. They made me pay them $79 in order to cancel which included another months dues of $25 and a yearly membership of $50 plus tax. I was a member for less than 3 weeks. Rather than billing me Thier $25 cancellation fee Cathy the owners wife billed me for a extra month so she could then stick me with a $ 50 dollar yearly membership fee and pocket some extra cash.

They don't have the latest and greatest equipment, or a power rack etc, but they've got everything you need to get big and strong or to get leaner. The morning staff is awesome and friendly.

Based on my experiences with gyms, Zone Fitness is as good as it gets for the money...period!

An awesome locally owned and operated gym. Constantly cleaning and maintaining their mid sized facility. State-of-the-art equipment that is fairly new. Much cheaper than going to the Y just down the road. I see a lot of old Y customers joining.

Update: I spoke with the owner regarding this review. I specifically asked him if the following statement he wrote in his response is true: " I apologize for any frustration and reached out to your to discuss, however I have not heard back until this review." I verified with him that he never tried to reach out to me, and proceeded to tell me this was from his marketing team and that he will look into it. If this is from his marketing team, then it is wildly inappropriate to speak for him using the word "I". If he is the person who responds to the review, then be aware - This guy is a LIAR. Either way, they are handling this situation in an extremely inappropriate manner with service and truth taking a back seat to their ratings on this site.

Pros - The hours are great for a busy schedule and the equipment is functional and clean.

Cons - The Owner is not very organized. My card on file was stolen and I forgot to update my information - not a huge issue. I purchased a new home so I wanted to cancel my membership. When I was notified I was past due, I was advised to send in the cancellation form along with a check to settle my balance. I sent them both in the day I spoke with the owner, under the assumption I was good to go. Over a month later, I noticed my card was charged for a few months dues, as well a maintenance fee. I called and spoke with an employee who told me the owner would contact me the following day. He never called. I called again and spoke with another employee, and subsequent the owner. I was told he "never received" the check or form. Long story short, the owner does not care if you are no longer a revenue stream. Doesn't return calls nor does he make things right. I would not recommend this place solely based on his response to negative reviews. Everyone makes mistakes, learning from them to improve the services you offer is good practice. He will refute a negative review with the "correct" version of the story (aka his version). There are to many facilities in the area to waste your time with a place like this.

I've had a good experience over the past four years. The facility is clean, the equipment up to date. I'm sure there are clubs with more modern equipment, and that cost is passed on to the member. The rate is reasonable, the staff friendly and it's located next to Publix. I get a twofer every time I go workout!

The zone is the best ! It's clean And Corona free, Trainer Jose - I highly recommend, He covers everything nutrition, Physical fitness, cardiovascular, weight training- I felt my well being was number one. Thank you zone.

The female owner of the facility refuse to waive $25.00 cancellation fee even though I gave her notice of cancellation. She refuse to speak to me and instructed worker to charge me two month membership fee along with $25 cancellation fee even though I was on a month to month basis. Owner will say anything to have you join and upon cancellation she'll charge you what's convenient for her. Had to click 1 star if not I couldn't post.

Terrible experience with the owner who is incredibly rude and unprofessional. My wife commented on one of their FB posts and he first accused her of not being a member and then said that she was trying to get out of paying a 30-day cancelation fee, which is just ludicrous. We canceled our memberships because of the way the owner treats his clients.

Waste of $10 for a day pass, they barley have any equipment. It s all just for show. Whatever equipment they do have is old and outdated. My apartment complex gym has better stuff than this place.

Researching fitness clubs in my area. Noticed how unprofessional owner is with negative comments (back handed responses towards members) so here is another. I will keep searching for a more professional club.

Whatever you do, don't give them your credit card or sign up for a subscription. I have attempted on multiple occasions to cancel my subscription since July 2019 and the charges continue on my credit card. I have disputed this now with my credit card. Zone Fitness has turned this over to collections and now I am having to fight with the collections company. Ridiculous!!! Do not join this gym!

I ve been coming to this gym since it opened. It is very clean, very well maintained club with lots of equipment. The bathrooms are also very clean.
The staff truly care about their members. Kathy, Jose and Nicco are awesome!

Zone Fitness is a great club not only because they have the newest equipment, but the gym is spot-on clean and the staff is so helpful!

they do not explain their policies when signing people up and then when you try to cancel you get you dont know about contracts or your lying about how your sign up went . there are countless reviews about how the manager, Cathy, is a rude and unprofessional woman who berates customers, she told my mother who is a manager at a realty company that she doesnt know about contracts when my mom was trying to get them to be reasonable about their cancellation policy which they NEVER EXPLAINED. I would much rather recommend literally any other gym in the area, the greed and lack of humanity at this establishment is astonishing !

The ZONE fitness club is great! A very comfortable club, always greeted with a smile, asks how I'm feeling and consistently clean. We've been members at other gyms where there always seems to have at least 1 if not several machines broken, where the ZONE never does. Highly recommend for everyone!!

Great people, great place to come in and workout and a lot of machines/areas to work what you need or want.

My only complaint is the cleanliness, the walls and ceiling grid are accumulating dust pretty thick and this has been building over some time now and nobody has addressed this. It is not healthy for people to breath that stuff in, which I'm sure is floating around from all the fans that are going. That is not right for a health club not to stay on top of this.

THEN THEY KEPT CHARGING MY BACK SO I WENT TO THE BANK AND PUT A STOP ON THAT, THEN THEY WANTED ME TO PAY AGAIN THE 50 SOMETHING DOLLAR MEMBERSHIP FEE PLUS 2 MORE MONTHS. NOW THEY ARE SENDING ME TO COLLECTION, NICE DURING A COVID PANDEMIC WHERE MY HUSBAND ALREADY LOST HIS JOB AND WE HAD TO MOVE. MY FRIEND TOLD ME THEY SCREWED HER SON AND I SHOULDN'T OF GONE TO THAT CLUB AND I SAID OH NO THEY ARE SO NICE, YEAH GUESS WHAT, THEY WILL SCREW YOU TOO.

If you are looking for people who are honest and honestly care about you this may not be the gym for you. Once they start to get your payments, it is very difficult to stop it and cancel your membership.
I could write a book on the issues I had and the time and energy it took to get it rectified. I requested they cancel my premiership (in person, in October) because of all the issues. They continued to charge me. When I realized that I was still be charged I called. They said they needed it in writing I sent a letter and then they charged me the annual fee, and 3 months gym fees (January, Feb, and Mar). When I spoke to the owner he assured me it would be rectified... umm yeah they cancelled 2 months fees (February and March) and still charged the annual fee. Very unprofessional and money grubbing. A shame because some of the staff members are really nice.

Very clean, wonderful staff, and great training sessions weekly with Peedro! The staff answers all my questions, I love the hydromassage bed, the gym is very affordable, and best of all judgement free! I'll be a member for a very long time. Thanks guys!

worst gym ever, i am being charged for a service i cannot use. Tru Fit sold to Zone and i never received notification. Zone cancelled my personally training without notice. When called, i was told we are supporting the gym and the employees. What employees, the trainers are paid on commission of who they train, so actually we are supporting the management staff, that has no interest in the members of the gym or notifying them of changes, but members are suppose to support them. I was told we are putting food on the employees tables, when i have been let go from my job and nobody is supporting me or my family. Bad deal and worse management. Dont trust them to do what is your best interest, but what is in there best interest. Lifetime Fitness may be expensive but at least they care about the members. I have cancelled my membership here and if anyone ever asks I will never recommend this gym.

I joined last week. Facility is great. Staff is friendly and helpful. Entire place is spotless. Lots and lots of machines so you never have to wait. Focus is on exercise and correct form. I really like that this facility is not incredibly noisy. Past gym experience has been that gyms with cycle classes and aerobics classes have such an abundance of noise from screaming instructors and hi-intensity music that you cannot hear the instructions from your personal trainer, so I really appreciate the quietness of Zone Fitness.

Best club I ever been a member. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and dedicated. Members are friendly and courteous. There is plenty of equipment in great condition. The club is well maintained and clean. Love this place.

If you read most of the previous reviews you will find a pattern .. a pattern the owner either chooses to ignore or is oblivious to the obvious.
I explained that due to circumstances I was not able to get to the gym to cancel, but this was explained to me as, not my problem. So I was charged months without going ... whatever .. as bad as that was, I was told I need to pay nearly $100 to cancel!
I asked what exactly the admin fee of $50 was for and she had no answer. She is the owner.. you press delete .. admin duties complete! We have been to many gyms without such a ridiculous ending ... money spent for nothing hurts....
So the lesson here is, you think you re getting a deal on the way in. In reality she will collect all the monies on your way out!
I know she will reply as she has in the past .. beginning with Hello Mike, I m sorry you had a bad experience .... yada yada yada

I like this place, Staff are well educated, so helpful. It's enough to know that I lost 3.5 lbs in One week, (without any workout) just after my free session with Joseph who told me about what I should eat and what I suppose to quit. This encouraged me to take 2 personal training sessions / week to learn me and to practice right. Also, Kathy was so helpful in teaching me how to use Myzone belt which is so helpful in telling me all the info that I need to know about burning calories while training.
I am so excited about this. I really recommend this club for all people live in Trinity and New Port Richey.

After a full year of utilizing the Zone I remain a happy customer. The facility is well managed, spotlessly clean, staffed by polite and helpful associates. I would strongly recommend the Zone to anyone seeking a better place to exercise and enjoy for a very fair price.

I joined a month ago and I LOVE this gym. I've been a member of many different gyms and this club has all the equipment one needs. Newer equipment. It's set up so you don't have to awkwardly stare at a stranger in between sets. I have about 40lbs to lose and am totally out of shape but here I feel I WANT to work out. I have yet to see a "superstar" following. Meaning I've felt intimidated before...(my own insecurities). I'm right at home here and today I spent 2 hours working out! I'm not affiliated with the company in any way.
The $15 per month is worth every cent.
It's clean. The staff is super nice. If there were 10 stars, I'd give them that. BTW my husband, his BFF who is currently residing with us is a retired NFL player, all 3 of us joined and the guys love it too.

Great friendly environment. They tell you everything upfront, and none of the fees are hidden. Great equipment, and they always listen to suggestions. Staff very friendly and helpful, if you are lost or confused they kindly show you how to use the equipment. They have everything you need for 15$ a month. Would recommend this club to anyone who is serious about fitness!

DO NOT JOIN! If you are over weight in the slightest you are not treated like the rest. I got an initial tour and promised a lot of things (expanded times for childcare and one on one with someone on my first visit to learn how to use the equipment). Those things never happened. Waited out my whole contract and was still charged a cancellation fee.

Also, every time I brought my husband as a guest (which I could with the membership I had) he was bombarded with very aggressive telemarketing calls. After the first dozen within a month, I realized this is not a company I would want to do business with.

I find it amusing that the majority of the "great" reviews are from employees or the owner himself. This place is shady. Again do not join!

TL;DR
I love this place, treated kindly, great customer service, equipment and a clean atmosphere. People who are complaining about the cancellation fee are likely serial gym hoppers who didn't bother to read the contract THEY SIGNED. Not to mention, it was outlined to me clearly.

I am very surprised that I see so many one star reviews. Most of them have to do with the 25$ cancel fee, which I think is ignorant to no end. They were open with me about the fees that come across, and, although it was a confusing setup for the month-to-month or yearly thing and I don't completely remember everything, every effort was made by the team to help me understand.

People fail to understand that when you start, you sign a contract agreeing to everything they outline, including fees and other such things. If you didn't know about the fees, that is easily your fault, as the contract is in plain English and most of these people complaining can read (I think so at least)

So far, I've been treated kindly by every associate there and I have not had a single complaint. It would be nice if it was free to cancel and free to do this or that, but hey, they have like two locations and 500k+ worth of equipment so I think the prices are pretty reasonable for a non-enterprisey company. The personal trainers are great, (Shoutout to Nico) and the customer base is at least non-toxic. (no customer base is completely perfect, I work retail in Holiday (so yeah))

All in all, if you live in the area or just outside, this is a clean, friendly, great place to get in shape. 5*s

After being a faithful member of Zone Fitness I chose to move on due to the lack of upkeep, the broken down equipment, and the filth that is building up on the walls and rafters. After paying up to $250 a month for 2 years I was hit with cancellation fee's totaling another $130.

They are great at Zone Fitness. They have great trainers, and they all want to see you reach your fitness goals. Love going in each night. .. everyone from there is so friendly and professional.

Very clean gym except for the wall under the hand dryer. The equipment is newer and well maintained. This place doesn't have a side deltoid machine which is found in every gym.

Beware of the fine print. Went in February 1st to cancel my membership, can t cancel online or over the phone, I had to pay $84 to cancel my husband and my memberships. A $26 fee each to cancel plus had to pay 30 days.

They are very friendly and the personal trainers clearly care about their clients. It is not typically crowded and it is very sanitary. I recommend training with Nico.

I absolutely love the zone. I ve been going here for years now and have changed my membership numerous times without any hassles. They have great equipment and staff. And when I canceled my membership to use my silver sneakers card it was effortless. Thanks zone fitness.

This is the worst place to have a membership at... they like to take money from you for every possible thing. Would 100% suggest not going here for a membership, even if the location is convenient for you. DON'T DO IT!

It's a nice gym, close to home and not very busy when I go. Staff friendly and the gym is clean.

"We put members first" is their motto, unless you have to cancel membership due to not being able to make it. This staff and company do not care about you they just want your money and make you jump through hoops to cancel and get as much money as possible, which is all they care about. No sympathy or understanding at all.

Awesome gym. Great equipment and the cleanest gym I've ever been too. Everything is very constant. Friendly knowledgable staff. My wife does the classes and she is a trainer at another gym and loves them. Tim the owner trained me a few times and he is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

This place is a scam and I d stay far away from it. Long story short I tried canceling twice and they always had an excuse or another fee that I had to pay before I can cancel. I unknowingly paid 10months after my 1st cancelation!!!!
