Wonderful museum, great deal if you have a museum ...
Wonderful museum, great deal if you have a museum membership to your local museum.
Wonderful museum, great deal if you have a museum membership to your local museum.
Awesome museum, great collection of dino skeletons and taxidermied animals, this is not to be missed. Great minerals section as well. Lovely! will take many visits.
Beautiful museum with a lot of interesting fossils among other things. You can spend a whole day here.
The trex exhibit and movie is interesting. It's a nice natural history museum. We did it after spending most of the day at Shedd which probably is why I'm only giving it 3 stars. If you go to any of the museums, get the city pass!
I recommend going early to beat the crowds. We got our tickets for 10am and it was pretty empty until we left around 1pm. It was very easy to keep a distance from others. The Egypt exhibit can get crowded quick, so I would recommend going to that first before the crowd picks up.
It would take atleast couple of full days to cover entire museum, if you want to visit every thing in detail. My favorite is the gemstone room.
The guy at the front was rude and he sold me the wrong tickets embarrassed me then made me pay to fix it.
Fun place with lots of interesting exhibits. Could spend a few hours, or a few days here. Special exhibits are cool, but cost extra to see.
This was one of the sites I needed to see before leaving. Very happy with the Field Museum! Best part for me was the dinosaur fossils and the Egypt exhibit. Definitely recommend! Thank you!
We love this museum. Wow this place is packed full of history. This place has the most incredibly unique collection.
February is great time for IL residents to visit as they offer free basic admission with valid id with proof of residency for IL residents.Always amazed by huge amount and vast artifacts in this museum well maintained. They have new exhibits every season but it cost extra it will take an entire full day to go over and check out the exhibits.
Enjoyed the live tattoo demonstration today. It was truly great. Also enjoyed time in the museum.
As amazing as this place can be, ALL the advertised and best exhibits require an EXTRA ticket for an ADDITIONAL price - starting at $12 each - for over 12 options. They then have donation boxes EVERYWHERE asking for even more money. Two of us had the "Chicago City Pass" (totally worth it btw) and so had access to about half of the "extras" but the family members that came along couldn't get in to anything besides a few tired and boring plant exhibits. Staff was rude, slow, and unhelpful.
If you are prepared to pay through the nose for all the options, this could be a really great all day visit.
Great day with the kids at the museum.
The bug exhibits really captivated my older kids.
The travel through history was pretty neat. I liked how the fossils progressed through time and gave a feel for the evolution of our world. Not to mention the vast amount of fossils in such a small space! How could I mention the fossils without a shoutout to Sue. Seriously, WOW, that was a T.Rex!
One of the best African and Native American Exhibits I have seen. Truthfully and honest display not seen in other Museums. Although most people did not want to see parts of the exhibit their loss.
The dinosaurs room is the best! Also the 15th century armory is amazing
Amazing! I could spend the whole day there. If you love animals, history & nature you will love this place. Did I mention they have Mold-A-Rama machines!
You could spend an entire weekend in here, very detailed exhibits on very interesting subjects. Our favorite part is Sue the dinosaur, truly amazing to see in person!
There is SOOO many exhibits to see here, if you love museums, this is an all day trip. If you want to focus on dinosaurs like us and some random other stuff, 3hrs is good. Totally worth the price of admission. The mummy exhibit was also cool. This is a must see!
Excellent day! Went to the 505 submarine exhibit. Outstanding tour.
i bought a ticket at 26$ no one asked me for my ticket...
Way , way overpriced!!! For a single adult and 4 years old it was $65. Son seemed to enjoy it though. The bistro had old men drinking and making off comments to my child. It was also 10 am. Nasty atmosphere , but then again it's about the stone age.
Impressive! I love the Jurassic park! The field museum is really interesting and big. I could not finish all of them due to time limit. Definitely a worthwhile place to visit! I love how they explain how mummies were made, and how different they were for different economy status. An adding point for that was that there were museum staffs that were really helpful. They were knowledgeable and answered to questions patiently :)
Big museum in Chicago. Free entry for active duty military. Big dinosaur right in front! And lots of other cool exhibits.
Excellent museum. Spent all day exploring and didn't see everything!
Lots of exhibits. Plan on spending the whole day there if you want to hit all of them. Lots to learn from and lots of fun.
We were thoroughly impressed with this museum, even our young infant was kept quiet by the stunning exhibits. From the shrinking center where you view the world at one hundredth your size, the history of the world going from day one to present including some impressive dinosaur exhibits and all the displays of various species, there is just so much to see that in 4 hours we didn't even see half. Well worth a visit and make sure you keep a big window to see all the sections that interest you. The restaurant on the main floor is also excellent and almost everything is compostable and local.
Nice exhibits. Very clean. However, every interaction with employees have been negative. Was scolded for walking straight to the counter instead of using the serpentine set up when noone else was in line. Asked for directions to the bathroom and was given attitude. I was in line at the bistro and was told to go to the bar to checkout as the cashier had a line forming. I could see that the line at the bar was longer and since I was currently third from the front I did not move. The cashier gave me dirty looks and was short with me because of it.
Museum is a very good place to learn about animals, cultures, history and more. It s a very educational place to be at, however there is one star missing because the place needs a little bit of renovation. There are things that need fixing. There was an ostrich with a broken neck and there was plenty of things that makes them look old, which to be fare, they are old. Which in a way is not that bad that they don t kill more animals to show to people. I like the place.
Not too for age under 8...They don't know how enjoy it..
Went to a behind the scenes party tonight . What a great time . Everyone was so knowledgeable. Alot of new things to see this time . We're so lucky to have this Musium so close.
There is always something to see at The Field Museum, one of the world's best natural history museums and one of Chicago's top tourist attractions. Daily admission is not cheap (I find it worthwhile to buy a membership), but you can easily spend a full day here so you get a lot for your money.
My experience at the Field Museum was magnificent and memorable in many ways. I was at a Christmas party here with a friend and I absolutely loved it! We had music and food and so much fun. The exhibits were interesting and eye opening.
You can see all examples in the biology books. The evolutionary tunnel is amazing!
Fun place with a diverse selection for diverse tastes. Not too busy, not too many loud tour guides. A good place to take a solo learning adventure.
A lot to learn, spectacular place for kids & adults
We had a family outing there. It was very informative as we had not been in many, many years.
This museum is top notch! We have traveled the world and seen museums all over and this is still our favorite!
The most amazing museum I have ever been to! It displays so many things!! You have to be prepared for a visit of whole day without getting tired if you want to cover the entire museum. Its worth it. Be it kids or elders, its a perfect museum for everyone.
Natural history museum too!
I am seeing many ....
A great display of various dinosaur skeletons and besides that great expositions on various biomes throughout the world. One could easily spend hours here and not get one identical display. This museum has evolved over the years into a must see experience.
Sue (t rex) off exhibit until February 2019. While usually one of my favorite museums, we were specifically coming to take my son to see Sue. No info online anywhere about Sue being off exhibit.
Sue is the best of the museum !! Highly recommended
The museum is great. Its well kept. I just have one complaint that the guy at the front desk who took our passes was a bit rude and unhelpful.
Totally amazing ,takes 2 days to really get through all the displays.
Expensive! Great fun. Took several hours to explore. Would go again because they seem to mix up the exhibits regularly
One of the most beautiful and complete natural science museums I have ever visited. Be prepared to spend a day touring its temporary exhibition rooms and spaces. Tip: it is worth buying the Chicago Pass, which will give you direct access to all attractions at no extra cost, as some of them must be paid separately. In addition to this museum, you will have entry to 4 other attractions of interest in Chicago for a value well below the individual cost added.
So much to see. Hands on to do. Go and see this magnificent museum.
Great place. So much to see, I couldn't fit it all in to the time I had. Friendly staff.
Excellent. Enjoyed it very much. I'd say that dinosaurs are arguably there main exhibit, but several others are well worth the time. I do not like to stay in a museum for more than 3-4 hours, but in that time frame I saw several exhibits well
World class museum with reciprocal entry benefits to many other city's museum memberships. Worth price no matter what!
This is a good place for seeing natural history and beauty.. However guided tour would have helped to make tour experience more enjoyable and informative. Jurassic Park experience was good.
We ended up going here as a consolation prize since the aquarium had insane lines. We got in pretty fast, and opted for the all-inclusive pass. Tickets are a bit expensive, but you don't end up spending much more for the all-inclusive pass. The 3D movie we saw was about Africa and had some of the most beautiful footage I've seen on the big screen. Gorgeous! There's so much to see in this museum. We spent most of the day here and I don't think we saw 1/3 of what they had to offer. The terracotta army exhibit was the best experience I've had in a museum so far. There were so many fascinating facts to discover as we passed through.
Know that you will spend and entire day here if you plan to visit the entire museum. It will be a very well spent day with excellent exhibits for the entire family.
Great place for a day with a family! Find it a bit crowded at noon (weekends), I would suggest to visit in the morning
fantastic museum with a lot of history of American culture. A must see if you are in Chicago.
I played a gig here, but got to tour the museum first. Acoustics in the hall we were in weren't great, but the exhibits were phenomenal. It's really got it all. Just pack a lunch beforehand--dining options in the museum are lackluster for the high price.
I took my 7 year old son here, it's nothing like I remembered as a child. Much more fun and exciting! Mummies, Sue (the dinosaur), and African wildlife were our favorites.
It's VERY EXPENSIVE. You get the general admission, but the 3D movies were extra and 3 of the exhibits were extra. And the Bistro is ridiculously expensive - $4.50 for a 16 oz bottle of water!!
Next, the animals that were taxidermied need to be dusted. I could see the dust thru the glass. The dinosaurs were cool. Must say that seeing "Sue" and knowing she was discovered less than 30 years ago and in the US (South Dakota) is impressive history.
The field museum was excellent. I am not from Chicago so was interesting to see all the cool exhibits the main attraction was obviously the dinosaur bones but they had interesting things on different cultures as well and that was interesting. The field museum had excellent value spent several hours there. The passes are really good values the 3d movies were also interesting.
I love this place filled with such amazing history.
A must visit place in Chicago. They display awesome collections of all kinds of fossils and one can really feel the eras while walking through their evolving planet section. Specially there collection of skeletal fossils from Jurassic era is praise worthy. They also have awesome display of ancient Egypt and have a good collection of stuffed animals.
This was my favorite stop on our trip to Chicago. I loved seeing the dinosaur fossils and the mummies! There is plenty to see and do for all ages. I would love to come back some day!
The Field Museum was great and my granddaughter loved it. There were volunteers that were great at interacting with kids. A great learning experience.
This was a fantastic museum to visit on our last day in Chicago. We purchased this ticket in our City Pass bundle and knew we couldn't pass up on this option. If it wasn't for the time constraint and my painful boots, we would have easily spent a few hours exploring through the different rooms and floors of this beautiful place. I was taken aback by just the entrance outdoors. The museum is in a historic building with a fantastic view of the city, and close to the Shedd Aquarium as well. I just love the museum district in Chicago, it's so nicely done for tourists to easily hop from one location to the next. During our time there, there was an orchestra performance indoors by a class from probably a local school. It added a very classy touch to our entire experience at this place. We loved the huge structures of the dinosaurs on the floor, as well as the ones hanging in the air. I would visit this place again if I have the chance.
The Jurassic Park exhibit was awesome, though a little intense for our five-year old grandson. Employees were cheerful and helpful to a person. The biggest frustration was trying to get food - long lines and vending machines that didn t work.
