Multiple good exhibits and an adequate but overpriced gift shop
Very nice natural history museum. A lot to learn here and some great interactive exhibits. Mummies exhibit was wonderful. Sue the T-Rex was quite a sight to see. Some of the exhibits are still pretty dated but that was honestly kind of charming and nice to see older exhibits still being relevant. Worth visiting!
A lot of exhibits. Too much to see to describe. If u haven't been, u must go!
Loved this museum. The exhibits was exactly as expected. Very interesting and informative.
I enjoy coming here with my family to see the beautiful exhibits. My favorites so far are the Jurassic World and the China exhibits. The gift shop is always the best part.
A fun family trip experience! My parents took my siblings and I! Educational and fun!
It s amazing how old this planet is. Amazing museum with so much to learn from. Make sure to visit The Egyptian sector. The mummies are striking.
I've lived in Chicago all my life and, I may be biased but, the Field is amazing. I love coming here. Great set up and layout of everything. I can't wait to go back.
Amazing place..great exhibits..a must visit with family and friends.
Loved it! The whole family learned many new things, incredible museum!
It's a great museum, no doubt about it.
However, at lunchtime today, with only one person selling tickets, the queue built up whilst he chatted to those ahead of us about his preferences, what he liked to see, and his impressions of best exhibits.
This was not what we had come to hear, nor had anyone in the queue behind us. Precious museum time wasted.
I had so much fun here with my family. Sad to learn after I arrived that Sue, the famous t-rex they normally have on display is and will be off display while they remodel the area till 2019. However since I went for free during a locals free day I can't complain. :)
Amazing museum, so much to see...you'll need a few days
Love the Field Museum! Food is pricey but they have a captive audience. You can easily spend the entire day as there is a lot to see. Including Sue!
Exciting for residents and non- residents. This museum makes for an excellent adventure for families of all ages to solo getaways. Make sure you have time or be prepared to go back and explore the wonders that make The Field Museum.
There is so much to see, and there are so many interactive features and ways to learn about everything on display. They also have several displays going at the same time.
Delicious food, sauces at their point of consistency and flavor. Attention was quick, considering that the restaurant was full. friendly waiters.
Beautiful museum with some of the best exhibits in the country. A must see for anyone visiting Chicago.
Extraordinary museum with things for everyone such as dinasores, cultures from places all over the world and sharks from the Pacific, it is also kid friendly. There are also interesting to see how different organisations are trying to save the forests and the diversity of animals and plants. Recommended
Beautiful place to spend your weekends with family or friends.
One of Chicago's finest spots. Check out the dinosaurs.
Great museum went here a lot of times just for 5 dollars at elementary school field trips .
An incredibly huge museum with lots of exciting creatures to explore. We loved the evolution exhibit showing how creatures on earth have changed over time. The mummy tomb was also quite remarkable and just before close we wandered in there unknowingly because no one was there checking tickets (we only had the basic admission). The lawn to right of the museum entrance is great for a picnic in the shade of the big trees. If you need to pee before waiting in the admission line with the children there aren't any bathrooms in the lobby but there are port-a-potties outside on the patio and the lawn.
Several floors of different things to learn. You can also watch scientist at work on fossils.
Great exhibits, activities, and information. It's just always very crowded, and for good reason. I really wish they would put on a monthly or quarterly event for adults similar to Adler After Dark.
Very interesting museum, the dinosaur fossils and the famous lions of Tsavo make it worth the ticket price.
I cant even begging to explain how much this place has to offer. So much knowledge and history. Perfect for kids and people with curios minds. If you come to Chicago make some time to immerse yourself in this historic building.
My Kids enjoyed the whole day. They were excited to see the real mummies in the Egyptian exhibit. But i was really surprised that they lasted the whole day there. It really had a lot to keep them interested.
World class museum with exhibits great for all ages
Awesome exhibits! Be prepared to spend all day here. There's just so much to see!
The place is fascinating even for a science major. Some exhibits are very cool.
Nice museum, best I ever seen. Dinosaurs are awesome even for adults.
It was okay when I went there but i wouldnt do it again. The workers were all sick and did not wash their hands. I am not okay with this and wil never be. #hurt
One of the best natural history museums I have been to! We love it here. Unfortunately, as locals, we don't get the opportunity to visit as much as we would like. We recently purchased tickets for the Jurassic World exhibit. At 25.00 a pop, I was disappointed. I was expecting more actual science instead of the movie DNA in the amber science. Seriously, for that price I expected Chris Pratt to personally come out and give me a neck massage (over the clothes, obviously, I'm a lady). The animatronics were cool, but again, for the admission price, I just expected more.
In my opinion this was probably the coolest thing I did in Chicago and we went to a lot of venues. We had the CITYPASS which is totally worth it. It gives you access to 4 or 5 venues for 100 bucks. It also allows you to enter some of the premium exhibits for no charge. The chinese exhibit was facinating along with the 3d movie mysteries of china. I found this way more interesting than the aquarium and art mueseum.
International class museum covering history from the start and the inhabitants and animals that have called this planet home get here early so you get it all in in one day
Huge museum with interesting collections to see. The drawback is- for the exorbitant entry fee that they charge the timings are not reasonable. Especially during summers and weekends. They started closing the ticketed sections by 4.30 p.m. itself. When you bring children along during vacation time its very unreasonable that when they are not allowed to see when there is so much.
Really enjoyed this place. So much to see. I liked the animals of the world exhibit. Even with the place having a ton of visitors, you could still see everything and get through in a timely manner.
huge, amazing, always interesting. Loved seeing all the fossils, and of course, the dinosaurs. The new Sue exhibition is amazing. They have really stepped up and made their exhibitions more interactive and inclusive with digital content, however, if you want a more traditional natural history museum feel, they have that too, with their dioramas that haven't changed since the 50s.
Very informative! Lots of natural history and they have good extra exhibits! DO NOT GO TO CHINA'S !! Go to the DE MOMIAS! start with the underground drink own drinks there are spaces to eat your own food! Half a day is enough GREAT COLLECTION OF ROCKS AND MINERALS!
A variety of exhibits. The Egyptian collection is very exciting and educational
One of my very favorite museums in the City of Chicago! The new hanging garden chandeliers are absolutely amazing addition to the museum.
"The Field Museum" in Chicago is the huge museum that serves as the setting for the horror film "The Relic - Museum of Fear". A fantastic place!
Excellent place to visit, it is quite large and very good guide service. If you go to Chicago you can not stop visiting it. The best offer is to buy the citypass.
For the most part it met my expectations. The animal exhibits were very good. As well as the Egyptian and nature ones. The big disappointment was the tattoo exhibit I understand it was only based on Tatoo history and not any modern stuff , but the loud screaming and spasm video was very disruptive. You could here it the moment you entered it and it only got worse. It had very little reference to tattoo history too. I kept hoping for some new "out of the park " tatto's around the next corner but didn't happen. All in all very poorly done.
Great museum, all the staff was super cool and attentive!
I had the Chicago city pass and I really enjoyed its benefits like the field museum. However, if you didnt have the pass or pay extra for the 4 exclusive exhibits I feel like I would not have enjoyed the museum as much. But I really enjoyed the mummy exhibit and the dinosaur exhibit.
Big, lots to see, and all around a great museum to visit if you're taking a vacation/on holiday.
One of the world's greatest natural history museums. Enjoyable for all ages. I've been here probably a dozen times and always see something new.
So many things to see It takes a whole day. I managed to get through most of the exhibits in 4 hours rushing.
It's definitely worth getting a plastic Dino from the making machine because it's cheaper than stuff from the gift shop and you get to see it getting made. You can carve your name into the plastic when it's still hot
Great museum. I could spend the whole day here. The exhibits were informative and not to overwhelming as far as the amount of reading. My kids and wife enjoyed it also, espeically Sue the T-Rex fossil.
Well organized. Kind and knowledgeable assistants. Some displays too much evaouation theories only when other theries with evedence exist.
Loved the place. Must visit place in Chicago.
Field museum has some great pieces of history and lot of stuff related to dinosaurs. Its really amazing experience to see each of these pieces from history.
The place is taking covid precautions and has nice food court. Surprisingly, the food was delicious which usually not the case in in-house food courts. The staff in food court was nice. The staff in museum was mixed, but most were good.
A very good place to visit, no matter the age, its contents are didactic and amazing. They also have part of their presentations in Spanish which facilitates the understanding of content. The apart of history of America and the dinosaurs is the best and also the visit to Sue ... Without words, I would go back a thousand times
I liked visiting the Field Museum store. There were many items to buy. I really liked the friendly customer service, and great attitude the employees had. It was very educational.
Although the field museum is best known for their wonderful collection of dinosaurs, there is so much more to see and do here.
Egyptian mummies and tombs, fantastic jewelry and jems, plants, birds, mammals, take a trip to foreign lands, and learn about conservation are some of the many things that you will see and do here.
The museum is actually three levels, and you probably would need to spend a full day here in order to see everything.
My recommendation is to do one level per visit, and come back several times during the year.
There are a few exhibits that seem dated, but the museum is constantly changing some of the exhibits so there's always something new to see each time that you come.
A couple of our favorite exhibits are the Hall of Dinosaurs, Inside Ancient Egypt, and Underground Adventure (especially for the younger ones in your group)
Maximo the Titanosaur took the place of Sue the T-Rex in the main floor, but Sue can still be seen on the second floor, in fact, she is getting her own exhibit space that opens in March of 2019.
There are three different ticket options. The all access pass, the Discovery Pass, and the basic admission pass. Do some research before you go to see which option would work the best for you.
Also check Groupon or City Pass or just Google for any discounts that are available.
If you're an Illinois resident, go on one of the many free days that are offered throughout the year. This is for general admission only not for ticketed exhibitions or any of the 3D movies. Those are all additional.
Beware! When you check in they I ll tell you to go to Aquarium first for BofA customers. Total lie. Then they refuse to get a Manager to speak to. I do not recommend.
Every visitor to Chicago must come to this museum. As for natural history, there is nothing better. Both the permanent and temporary exhibitions are great. Next to it are the Aquarium and the Planetarium, but it is recommended to dedicate a single day to each one, since they are huge. Preferably start early and what closes at 5 pm. The souvenirs are cool. Highly recommended
One of the best museums of the world. There was a show of wildlife photography. Incredibly beautiful!
I love the academy of sciences but it can be a lot with the crowds if people and children. The nightlife cuts that in half and takes out kids and gives you what feels like an exclusive experience. Drinks are about 13 but they're strong and tasty! Happy to have finally experienced it the way it should be!
Attended the new mummies exhibit and lecture by 4 scientists that brought it together at the field. It is a super big exhibit well worth a visit. The museum itself is changing all the time a gem in the Chicago area.
One of the best museums I've been to, it's phenomenal, huge. They need about 4 hours to cover everything and maybe they need time. They have exhibits of dinosaurs, animals and different ancient cultures.
Such a fascinating museum! We came here to see the mummy exhibit which was incredible! There were so many other fun and interesting exhibits to check out so we actually ended up going through them all. The dinosaur exhibit was also really interesting and featured a ton of really cool facts.
You need a whole day just to walk thru the place. Well kept and very educational. Love the sue trex exhibit.
Boring. I wish I was a kid again so this was awesome! Switch it up a bit!
