Overall, the best museum featuring nature and science exhibits that I have had the pleasure to visit. Worth the cost, although I would recommend planning an early visit in the morning in order to take full advantage of all of the attractions and exhibits.

I love visiting the Field Museum! My parents took me all the time as a kid, and now I make it a point to visit if I can when I come back to see them. The exhibits are pretty cool, especially the newer ones. They are also remodeling some of their oldest exhibits to bring them up to the same quality as their newer ones. Fun fact, the American Natural History Museum in New York, which is the basis for the movie Night at the Museum, doesn't actually have a T. Rex in the lobby, but the Field Museum does. You should definitely come in to meet Sue, or any of the other dinosaurs!

Great time for the whole family and all ages. Younger kids can run around the play areas or stick to the classic animals and dinosaur exhibits while older kids can enjoy the travelling exhibits and more higher level texts within the exhibits. They have easier videos combined with longer texts and plenty of different media to capture everyone's attention. Great for adults as well and they have a (overpriced) cafe where you can get snacks, lunch, etc.

Just go. It's an amazing natural history museum mixed with rotating exhibits from mankind history like ancient Egypt, and dynasties from China. The sweeping atrium is majestic and will lure you in.

Currently showing SO MANY DINOSAURS that there's no way to fit it all in with one visit. Exploring history leading up to when dinosaurs roamed, the distinct periods they were around, extinction, and the rise of man. Skeletons, specimens, dioramas, and more knowledge than you'll know what to do with.

The Egyptian wing also has a new special paid exhibit showcasing thousands of excavated artifacts. This area explores language, currency, deity, vehicles, and housing. Fascinating stuff!

The permenant gem exhibit explores every type of rock and mineral on earth, and even a few meteorites. Large displays show actual samples of all kinds of minerals for the geologist nerds.

The cafe had standard overpriced meseum fare, slightly better than the norm with a few hot options. There's craft beer and wine for sale, which might be nice after a long day exploring and growing your brain.

There's so much more to see in areas we didn't get to explore, like specimens from Africa and the Pacific Ocean, we just ran out of time!

I love coming with my family and friends to the Chicago Field museum. First its location at museume campus is great. You have soldier field great to park at. You have the World War 2 memorials. You have the planetarium. They're is the Shedd aquarium. You can take a walk along lake Michigan. I've been a member for years. I love the always changing exhibits. A great place to take your kids to Learn culture and history. If your visiting v the city this area has so much culture and activities it's a must see area of Chicago.

Excellent museum !!!! 100% recommended to spend a day with the family and learn more! What I liked most was meeting Sue, the dinosaur and the history of the mummies! There is a food fair and the bathrooms are in good condition. I recommend becoming a member to enjoy a small discount and almost all attractions (the only thing that is paid separately is the 3D movie and the 3D experience underwater). Parking cost me $ 20 the day I went.

The Field Museum is one of the best places to spend a day in Chicago, and it is easy to get to directly with the 146 CTA bus, which can be picked up anywhere from Montrose/Marine Drive to any Red Line stop in the Loop. It may be best to take the Red Line to Roosevelt and pick up the 146 bus there which is then a short ride to the Field Museum and on to the Planetarium. Be prepared to walk all day and visit many worlds and rediscover many oddities and treasures, so be hydrated and wear good walking shoes. Coat check is $3 per item, and admission varies based on residency and extra exhibits, ranging from about $16-24+. If you don't mind spending extra money, the food at the museum is decent museum food, hearty and tastey with many healthy options, but if you want to save money it's best to eat up before going to the museum. Spend your time there covering every exhibit on every floor, though that might take more than a couple visits to do thoroughly. No matter how many times you go, you'll always find something new at every turn. So much here preserves the spirit and artifacts of the 1893 Chicago's World's Fair. It's a perfect place for parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles to take small kids and get them started exploring the world young, and so are all the other museums on the Museum Campus. Have fun.

Had a great time at field museum. It has three floors to cover. The map given at entrance was helpful. i chose what i wanted to see first. Took a whole day to see everything but was worth it. Very good museum.

It was good but tiring experience , we made a mistake of keeping this in second day cos we wer exhausted standing in line for sky deck,duh.. n walking in Shedd aquarium in first day, we had less energy n patience to explore this museum, I personally felt , many areas in this museum wasn t so attracting plus I felt bored in many parts, I loved their Egyptian collection n archeological findings , they wer above top ,one of the best I have seen , but over all , 3 on 5 stars..

Mostly dated and moldering exhibits, overworked and rude staff, and long queuing times, even on weekdays, make this tourist attraction one better skipped. In particular, make sure to avoid if there is a game on at Soldier Field next door, or you'll quickly find yourself swept up by crowds of Bears fans.

It was impressive so I don't want to take anything away from it but just having come from seeing the natural history museum in Washington DC this one just was not on the same level in my opinion

Treasure found in Chicago. Quality exhibits of various preserved animals, skeletons, and artifacts from world history sorted by region. Depth of regional history lacking at displays, maybe they have a guid publication for exhibits?

Also, gift shop had.resonable prices for gifts/souvineers.

Children need places like this in their lives, to evoke wonder, provoke a deeper curiosity, and enrich the quality of mental food that is consumed.

It had been years since I had seen the Field Museum and I'm really glad I had a chance to see it again. Loved the variety and the detail of all the exhibits. It's a very impressive collection. The Sue (T-Rex) exhibit was awesome! Definitely a must see!

Wow, unbelievable exhibits of world's past and the natural wonders we take for granted here on this beautiful planet we call Earth. Sue the dinosaur was our favorite but be sure to check out the mineral section, it's a must see.

Excellent. While there are probably things that could be updated, there isn't a reason to since it is a HISTORY museum. Fantastic displays and excellent cognitive progression from one subject to another. There is a flow to the place. You just have to be able to make sure your feet can handle all the walking. Two thumbs up.

Great Museum with a lot of really interesting exhibitions! Everything is explained well and in surprising detail! You can definitely spend more than one day in here. There's 3D movies to choose from as well!

Im giving 5 stars for the museum because its great. Just be careful going to any after hours / after dark event. I was under the assumption that all the exhibits would be open but we were all restricted to one exhibit. Waste of 30$ a piece for one exhibit. But during normal operation its a marvel

I was disappointed Sue was not in the front lobby but hopefully this TRex will have a better scene in her new space. The place is big and somewhat confusing. A lot of information is present it will take some time to go through all the sections.
