Amazing galleries with impressive collection of artifacts and exhibits. The dinosaurs and Egyptian sections were my favorite. Check out SUE, the most complete dinosaur skeleton in existence! Beautiful museum, clearly marked exhibits, stunning architecture, and great price!
I had a good time, but I think it would be way more fun for kids for whom a lot of the science on display would be new and exciting.
Once you pay the entrance fee, then they charge extra for each of the main exhibitions (which are the main reason why people come here). Overall, there is room for improvement
Fun place. Lot of activities, things to see and learn.
I grew up with this museum and have visited it as a teacher for the last 20+ years. The exhibits are nice, but not much has changed in all this time, and there aren't a lot of cool, interactive things ...
An amazing experience. More exhibits than you can look at, and appreciate, in one day, even with just the General Admission ticket. I'll be going back again for sure. Some areas were closed due to ripple effects of COVID(less staff, less visitors, etc). I loved the mummies and the History of the Americas, that was really interesting. Compared to other museums around the world (Japan, Italy, Cambodia, etc) The Field Museum has just a much of an experience, though it seemed to be aimed heavily at children in some areas.
Went to see SUE I was not disappointed. A must see at the museum, I also happened to catch the Terracota Warriors exhibit. Love it.
This museum has a lot of interesting stuff, plenty to see and do, and a well-rounded collection that the whole family can enjoy. The only flaw that I see is that some aspects of the museum are a little bit dated, and it is not very clean. They also don't provide a well-kept space for people who brought their own food to eat at. The only spot where you are allowed to eat your own food is in a small and incredibly dirty room in the basement, cramped with elementary school cafeteria style tables. This does not prove to be a nice eating experience. But most of the time I enjoy myself and I do have fun, despite some major flaws.
We went to the Field Museum during part of Spring Break. It was just terrific. We loved the warriors. Isn't it amazing that something created in 220bc is available for us to experience? They were busy but our tour, so to speak, was on time both at the warrior exhibit and the movie about African mammals. The food line was fast and there was ample seating. We walked from the hotel so I don't know about parking. All of the interactive elements such as touch screens helped us learn more. I would highly recommend a visit.
My daughter and I vacationed in Chicago The Field Museum was at the top of our list of places to visit. It did not disappoint! It was interesting, every employee we encountered was helpful and courteous.
This place is so cool! Bit of a geek when it comes to this kind of stuff, but it was still so cool!
We loved seeing all the dinos! And finally being able to see Sue, their 90% complete tyrannosaurs rex was really cool. Wish we had more time to explore. So much to see there.
I had such a great time with my wife here yesterday! We loved that there was a free admission day this month. We had a chance to see the exhibit on brewing beer and that was so interesting.
Definitely a fun place for the family and even adults will enjoy their time
You need more than one day to see everything and they have a lot of events going on.
Great spacious museum with plenty of regular exhibits. Also many special limited time exhibits to enjoy.
I loved my visit here! They have very informative volunteers that are highly friendly and knowledgeable. There is a great variety to see and learn from.
Awesome museum! When I was there they had just recently put in "Sue", a T-Rex.
So much awesome stuff to see. Spent 4 hours roaming around.
This place is so big, so much to see. We could barely see everything that was there and we got there first thing in the morning. Disappointed we couldn't get up close to Sue. They are currently building a new home for her that won't be done until spring or summer 2019.
Got to see dinosaurs fossil, fish, leaves fossil,Egyptian sarcophagus, the ice age fossil,Chinese dynasty
Lot to see and lot to know in this place. Not enough to see all in one day . Ticket is $26. Informative 3D video is very good to learn abt Sue dinosaur. It s the only museum where I notice kids are even enjoying too much . Not happy food quality in cafe . And most of staff just busy in talking n looks not caring abt food presentation n customers , should improve .
Here for an after hours wedding. So different to see the behind the scenes.
Field museum is amazing super easy walk to the museum itself through Grant Park spectacular paths beautiful gardens. Kudos to Chicago for having such a fantastic and clean cultural center. I was greeted by super friendly attendants. Fast entrance to museum . I would definitely go back given another trip to Chicago. Max ready to hear from Patrons. Great time. Worth going. Takes from 3 hour's to all day to go through. Parking is not great. but still a nice place.
Loved the permanent exhibit on the evolution of life on earth. Enriching for small kids and adults. Great natural history museum
Magnificent. The place is completely magical that 4 hours is nothing traveling its extensive facilities. All seasonal exhibitions are included in the citypass. Don't miss Sue's exposure! If you can .. Start here.
Awesome. Wish we had more time to get through it all.
I recommend anyone in Chicago to pay the field a visit.
The Field Museum is a neat place, however be prepared to spend more money than you do at other museums. The biggest bummer about the Field Museum is that you pay per exhibit, and not for entrance. This means that, while there may be five or six exhibits to see, each one is going to cost you roughly $20 (unless you get passes that include multiple exhibits, bringing the price down a bit).
It's a cool place and has a lot of history (built to represent items of the World's Fair that was held in Chicago), but I don't know that it offers much more than any other museum I've been to. The museums in St. Louis, Minneapolis, and some other small cities seem to have just as much to look at for a fraction of the price.
Incredible! You definitely need a whole day to get through this one, but it's totally worth it!
A great place to visit with kids, teens, or better, on your own so that you can soak in all the information at your own pace. You can easily spend a whole day here.
Great museum, tons of great exhibits with nice revolving content.
So much to see and I WENT ON A FREE DAY. BONUS. Come check the field out and you will not be disappointed
Sue, the T Rex, was being relocated. She is their star attraction and it would have been nice to have been informed before paying the price of admission.
Always a phenomenal time at the best museum in the midwest!!
Every trip here it's always worth it. We always get the GoCity Pass. Worth every penny.... the museum is spotless and gigantic. It's easily a full day of adventure!
Ultimately disappointing. The jewelry exhibit was the only alright part.
Came to visit Sue the T-rex
Lots of cool things to see here
Check out the 3d theater as well
Early man
The Chinese dynasty
Dinosaurs
Plant life
and more....
My daughter just loved this place. It is a very nice place for your children and you as well since it is quite informative. Unfortunately, we could only see the half of the place but I am looking forward to go again for sure..
Probably the best natural history museum I've been to. All the fossils and bones were my favorite incredible and I loved the Native American exhibit.
The restaurant on the ground floor was pretty badly organized and not that good. Not bad enough to knock this place down a star, but I just recommend eating before or after coming here.
One of my favorite museum's since I was a kid. Great place to view history in a fun way and we'll worth the long drive. Anyone passing through Chicago should give this place a visit if time permits.
Went here for project on a field trip we had to learn more about Egypt from the exhibit
Very good, lots to see for a day out even without paying for the extra areas
Awesome museum, give one whole day to explore all the exhibit. I would recommend everyone to visit this museum
I've been to DC museums many times, this museum is great. Big, lots to look at.
Not a fan of bugs and stuff but really loved the place
Didn t have enough time to get through it all and we were there for 3 hours. Can t wait to go back.
Loved the place..great for kids.
You would need a full day if you have kids under 10 and want to cover the whole place. It has three floors and each if them is huge.
The dinosaur exhibit was really cool here but nothing else is as memorable to me. Nice way to kill some time in Chicago when it's snowing, kids would definitely enjoy this.
Amazing! So much to see. Definitely best thing we did in Chicago. Loved every minute. Only regret is not planning enough time here.
Truly unimpressed. For such a well funded Museum, one expects a tad more. Customer service lacked weight and the exhibit was not up to par.
One of the best museums I've been to. A great history of the museum, it's artifacts, and the land it sits on. Great for adults, kids, and families. I recommend checking out a 3D movie, too, for when the crew you're with needs a break.
What a great museum! The name doesn't do it justice, however. The Museum of Antiquities would be better suited. We went here because of the Egyptian Mummy exhibit and we were not disappointed. It is worth it to note that there are several "experiences" you can purchase for your visit. We ran into several groups attempting to get into parts of the museum they didn't have tickets for, so make sure to do your research before you go. We ended up purchasing an all-inculsive pass for around $35 per person which gave us access to "timed" entries to special exhibits, one 3D movie, and the basic ticket to their normal exhibits. Definitely worth it with children or adults. You can easily spend the whole day here. A little disappointment in that "Sue" was not on display but they are currently moving her to a new exhibition area in the museum.
This place is amazing. There is so much to explore. Get there early if you plan on exploring everything in one day.
Had a field trip.there and they were awesome to our kids.
The museum is diverse and includes some unique visiting exhibits. I visited today to see Sue the T-Rex and was impressed by the fossil and the exhibit. I also saw the plants of the world exhibit which I skipped last time. I bought the City Pass and it gave me access to all of the special exhibits and one 3d movie. I'm usually against those types of passes but it saved me money and made the visit worth it.
Honestly, not worth the hype. Most of the museum is taxidermied animals which was exciting for the kids at first, but after a while they were over it. The mummies were cool, but I've seen better full exhibits. Wish we had saved out money and went to Lincoln Park zoo for free
