The free days are ok for a general part of the place. Other exhibits are pretty costly.
Whether you live in Chicago or are just visiting, a stop at The Field museum is a must. There is a ton to see and learn here which makes it the perfect place for children and adults alike. Tip: Grab a hotdog from Kim n Carlo's hotdog stand just outside the south side steps of the museum.
I so love the field museum... peaceful, knowledgeable and full of so much culture and history.... i get to show my children what ive seen as a child .... truly amazing
My 18 month loves it here! Best way to spend a Saturday morning
Overpriced place and the museum hasn't been updated. Teaching old concepts.
Separe bastante tempo para visita. Muito animais empalhados.
I LOVE this place. It's great. You go up the stairs to see Sue, You see perserved animals, you even see what It's like to be inuit.
I really liked this museum it had mummies, dinosaurs, a huge collection of animals (they were replicas or stuffed but very cool to look at), and much much more. The current dinosaur exhibit housing Sue the dinosaur was my favorite, but the whole museum was cool. The eating area was over priced though and did not have many options.
Lots of exhibits. Would take more than a day to see everything. Tickets were a bit expensive. Food court is not so good.
truly a world class collection. Kids and adults will be astounded at the historically significant items. A true pleasure to behold
Great museum. So much to see. You can easily make this a day's excursion.
It's pretty good, the have a lot of things that you learn in school, like civilizations and minerals. The gift shops are pricy.
Had a really nice flow, with lots of nice displays.
It is filled with amazing works of nature. It is beautiful, and easy to see whatever you wish.
AMAZING! We didn't realize how big the museum was, going to have to come back (a couple of times) to discover everything. And then come back, again and again to enjoy it all over again.
Amazing collection of exhibits, but customer service attendants would be helpful at the entrance to direct you where you need to go and in exhibits to direct you to proper exits.
One of the best museums in America. You can spend many hours here. The Native American exhibit is the very best I have ever seen. You cant leave without seeing Sue too.
Wow! The price has gone way up over the years, but still remains a great place to take the family
Great place to bring kids. They seem to work very hard to keep it clean. The membership is a good deal. It pays for itself in two visits. They seem to change exhibits every few months so there is always something new.
Very exciting to observe the different types of art, culture, science and history they have to offer. We went on a Sunday and it wasn t too busy. The insect room was very unique.
It's a great place, but everyone should be warned that because you have purchased a ticket, you can't access every part of the museum, meaning you have to pay again (several more times depending on what you want to see). With a regular entrance ticket you have access to maybe 30 percent of the museum, very misleading and disappointing.
This is a must visit in Chicago with exhibits to engage everyone. There are antiquities, dinosaurs, animal dioramas and more. There is a general admission fee as well as extra ticketed attractions. We spent quite a bit of time there without the inclusion of the ticketed attractions and still didn't see all the museum's included exhibits. It's a spectacular museum in remarkable building.
Become a member and see behind the scenes at their annual members' night.
Talk to curators about the visible exhibits, and the collections that aren't available to the public.
Pic of skyline from the fourth floor!
Love the field museum...
The way it presents the history just love it...
Very knowledgeable venue. The collection was amazing. Perfect place to explore some unique stuff.
This is my absolute favorite museum. It is so comprehensive and covers a huge range of topics. The changing exhibits are always really well done, and I see something new every time I go in.
Tons to see! Plan to spend a couple hours there. The exhibits are amazing.
Tons of stuff to see. Make sure you give yourself a day to see this museum. It's worth it.
Been here twice now and each time this place amazes me!!!! Extremely educational and interesting place to visit either by yourself or with the whole family!!! I could literally spend days in this place!!!!!
Very cool! Of course, go wanting to walk and energized. We were 4 hours and we did not see almost half but everything is very well exposed. Also if you have doubts there is staff to answer anyone. The building is amazing, it is magnificent and very beautiful, reminiscent of an old classic building. I recommend it as one of the best museums !!
I worked in collections for a number of years and loved it. Great people, great place, great collections! Get to know your Natural History because at the rate we are destroying the world, tomorrow it will be gone.
Member's only night event. Very cool, highly recommend for families, lots of hands on learning.
It's an amazing center of learning. It attracts some awesome rotating exhibits
Great exhibits and not very crowded on weekdays. I highly recommend the bee dino exhibit!
This was a wonderful family experience! We loved all of the exhibits and there was so much to do that we spent the entire day at the museum. It was a bit pricey but we feel like we got our money worth and we made some great memories with the kids.
Quite an experience when visiting Chicago 100% recommended.
Home to lots of artifacts from around the different countries. And about 10,000 pieces of artifacts from the Philippines - collected during the expeditions, when they 1st wanted to know what the Philippines was about.
Love it. I've been here several times and always find new things to see. Can get a little pricey. I highly recommend leaving to eat and not spending the money at their cafe. I also bring my kids and they enjoy it also, but all the walking tires them out.
Very good museum in Chicago this museum talks about what I am learning in school.
Extraordinary natural history museum in the world, my favorite museum in Chicago!
Awesome museum with dinosaurs and other cool animals
Excellent time spent with our dsughters at The Field Museum on Friday. The Jurassic World was very well done.
Reminds me of the old childhood days memorizing all the dinosaurs names and features
Its very old and musty smells of lots of mothballs.
Absolutely loved this so many cool things to see and view would 100 percent go again
Take two leisurely days to properly take in this amazing museum.
Great museum but don't buy the all access or discover pass online waste of money
Because you have to be there early so you can get the movie pass .my kids was very disappointed when the could not get to see the 3d movies
And some off the staff at ticket very rude
I only wish I could have more time to hang around in there.
Great place for older kids, good food although it was expensive. The exhibits are fully immersive. The only real negitive is that the bathrooms smelt so badly. They looked clean but stunk!
Always something interesting to experience. Not my first or last visit.
Awesome exhibits.. too big for just a day trip, I could spend a week in there!
This was great! Great exhibits and a wonderful building. Waited in line for quite a while, but the wait was worth it. Enjoyed all of the exhibits and reading about everything. Probably only need to go every few years but definitely a fun place.
This is my favorite museum in the world. It is not crowded, there are so many things to see and all of them are educating. You can easily spend a week there and cannot finish all the exhibitions. Its location is also great, don't forget to get some pictures of city's skyscrapers on the background in museum's garden.
It's so big. Great exhibits, good traffic flow. Sue is worth the price of admission alone.
Just ok. Now, I may be spoiled, but after having visited the Museum of Science & Industry (FAVORITE!), Shedd Aquarium (fun, but have seen staff problems), Adler Planetarium (FUN! - and a shorter day, less walking), the Field museum is my least favorite. Maybe we're just not as excited about many of the themes they have here, but we took advantage of the freebie February they have for Illinois residents. You'll just pay for parking, which was $19. It was relatively crowded on a Sunday, and a worker told me they had 10k people through there on Saturday. WOW! You can see Sue the big dinosaur, and although we didn't see the show this time, we've seen it before, and I recall it was a highlight. There are large sections of things like "the history of plants" that just don't get us amped up, and some decent displays on cultures (China, Tibet, etc..), but some of these will cost you extra. In fact, the very best things here all seemed to cost extra money. If you're going to see some shows, and want to see exhibits, be prepared to spend some cash. There is a small section for a cafe, and it got very crowded.
At the China section, I asked the worker how much it costs to visit the exhibit, she didn't know, and told me to go downstairs and find out. Yep, that's pretty much the speed of what we experienced here. I would hit any of the museums I mentioned above before going to the Field museum. Although.. the Egypt section is pretty sweet. We did that first, then it was all kinda downhill. But could be good for a one off visit if you get in free, or have seen the other museums. It's VERY close to the Shedd aquarium. So you can hit both of them in a day if you're not a lingering museumer. The Planetarium is 9 minutes away by car. But you'll pay another $19 to park there.
So much information. I definitely picked up new info to go home with!!
We always enjoy coming here, if only the security personnel and the cashiers made you feel welcome instead of as if you are ruining their day by making them actually do their jobs. Seriously, not a pleasant way to represent Chicago my dudes.
